Re: Pokémon Champions Brings The Fight To Switch This April

Whoever

Between not being able to transfer Pokemon out and not seeming to have any kind of single player component don't really see any purpose in bothering with this personally. Can see the competitive appeal but that's not a part of this franchise that at all interests me.

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Announced For Switch 2, Launching Next Year

Whoever

My main takeaway was mostly just that it not being until next year makes me more hopeful they do more retro releases throughout this year, since there's no way they can coast on just Pokeopia and ZA for another 18 months or so. Kind of hard to have much in the way of opinions on it otherwise given it was just a bunch of panning environmental shots.

Re: Pokémon-Themed Mini Game Boy Announced, Though It's Not What You Think

Whoever

Really cannot even begin to imagine spending however much this will cost to get the world's least practical and most impossible to travel with music player playing a bunch of individual 90 second chiptunes, and yet somehow it was also the best announcement in the Presents because at least it was a new thing that will be out any time soon.

Re: Pokémon Presents February 2026: Time, Date, How To Watch

Whoever

Honestly I'd be so much more excited to see news about more retro releases than I ever could be about news on gen 10. Not ruling out getting gen 10 by any means (kinda need to see info on it, I like SV a lot but really didn't care for ZA so kinda mixed) but that'd be just kind of, "Yeah, that's due I guess, eh," on paper while if they announced something like HGSS or BW2 I'd be chucking dollar bills at my screen, find it hard to be excited about an inevitable maybe-it'll-be-good game compared to a who-knows-if-it'll-happen definitely good game.

Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Are Already "Best Sellers" On The Switch eShop Charts

Whoever

I bought this but I certainly don't gobble up everything Pokemon-related. The only spinoffs I've gotten post-N64 are Rumble, Conquest, and New Snap (and I didn't even end up particularly liking New Snap, thought it was too overstuffed compared to the original), I was prepared to completely skip ZA and only bothered playing it because my roommate got it, and I found Horizons deeply boring and dropped it like 15 episodes in. And really I'm perfectly prepared to skip Gen 10 if it doesn't look good on paper because while I liked SV quite a bit ZA really did nothing for me, especially its DLC.

I bought FireRed because I like FireRed. If you put Sun & Moon up tomorrow I probably wouldn't bother because they're the low point of the series to me.

I picked up FireRed while my roommate got LeafGreen, probably going to juggle playing both to try and do the Kanto Dex because hey why not. ... Probably only worry about the Kanto Dex because the gerbils are especially irritating in this game.

That said I'm really hoping the success of this leads to more. I'm sure they're already planning for RSE, but I really want BW1+2 and HGSS ports and I'd probably get Platinum if they made it available.

Re: PSA: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Switch Preloads Are Now Live

Whoever

I mean, I'm willing to pay it, but the price is 250% what they charged for GBA games on the Wii U despite this being a port they seem to have put literally zero effort into, of course it's overpriced. On the same console you can pay the same amount and get three Castlevania GBA games and a SNES game to boot.

Re: Anniversary: The Legend Of Zelda Turns 40 Today - How Did You First Play It?

Whoever

I think I first fiddled with the original on the Wii, but I first actually finished it on the 3DS. Took awhile to develop a taste for the original and though I've played through it several times at this point I'm still pretty, "Eh, it's fine, nowhere near one of my favorites," on it; holds up super well mechanically but structurally there are significant problems with it.

Re: PSA: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Switch Preloads Are Now Live

Whoever

@molkom The differences entirely come down to some changes in which Pokemon are available, and the starters are the same in both versions. The question of which to go with pretty much entirely boils down to which set of exclusives you prefer -

FireRed - Ekans, Oddish, Psyduck, Growlithe, Shellder, Scyther, Electabuzz, Wooper, Murkrow, Qwilfish, Delibird, Skarmory

LeafGreen - Sandshrew, Vulpix, Bellsprout, Slowpoke, Staryu, Magmar, Pinsir, Marill, Misdreavus, Sneasel, Remoraid, Mantine

Re: Hands On: Xenoblade Chronicles X & Mira Are Even More Magnificent On Switch 2

Whoever

I'll probably pick it up at some point since it's only $5, but since I only really got X because I had a voucher expiring I had to use on something before it expired I'm not really rushing to play it. Game never really interested me nearly as much as the rest of the series, the mech stuff's just a giant turnoff.

Do hope though that this leads to eventual updates for the other Xenoblade games. 2 in particular would super benefit from it.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario Tennis Fever?

Whoever

Probably like a 7. It plays well but I wish there were a middle ground on the AI between, "Completely ineffectual," and, "Aggressive rubber-banding," and it does feel pretty scant on content.

Also I have no clue why these games nowadays won't actually let you play a full length game of tennis.
