@Broch83 The big differences from usual games with this and Colosseum are that they're centered around doubles battles and mostly (or entirely in Colosseum's case) involve stealing Pokemon from the trainers you're fighting rather than catching wild ones like usual.
I got FireRed, the Resident Evil bundle, and the Xenoblade upgrade. Probably would get the Disney collection but between those, Death Match Love Comedy, and considering getting WWE 2K26 I'm kind of stretched thin right now.
Between not being able to transfer Pokemon out and not seeming to have any kind of single player component don't really see any purpose in bothering with this personally. Can see the competitive appeal but that's not a part of this franchise that at all interests me.
My main takeaway was mostly just that it not being until next year makes me more hopeful they do more retro releases throughout this year, since there's no way they can coast on just Pokeopia and ZA for another 18 months or so. Kind of hard to have much in the way of opinions on it otherwise given it was just a bunch of panning environmental shots.
Really cannot even begin to imagine spending however much this will cost to get the world's least practical and most impossible to travel with music player playing a bunch of individual 90 second chiptunes, and yet somehow it was also the best announcement in the Presents because at least it was a new thing that will be out any time soon.
Honestly I'd be so much more excited to see news about more retro releases than I ever could be about news on gen 10. Not ruling out getting gen 10 by any means (kinda need to see info on it, I like SV a lot but really didn't care for ZA so kinda mixed) but that'd be just kind of, "Yeah, that's due I guess, eh," on paper while if they announced something like HGSS or BW2 I'd be chucking dollar bills at my screen, find it hard to be excited about an inevitable maybe-it'll-be-good game compared to a who-knows-if-it'll-happen definitely good game.
It really does seem like they did a super impressive job with preserving the look of the game. Side-by-side you can see the places where it's a bit behind the PS5 version, especially the hair, but I don't think it'd really be especially noticeable in the middle of the gameplay.
I do find it funny that they did variants for MOST alternate forms, but Unown, Paldean Tauros, Deoxys, and Rotom only got the one. Guess gotta draw the line somewhere, though does make it stand out that Zygarde and Necrozma got extra.
Does bare keeping in mind that "running" does not inherently mean "running well". Can see where it'd be useful to see if they can get it working, especially with the rumors of their own handheld, but that doesn't necessarily mean it works well enough to be commercially viable.
I ended up picking it up mostly just because the 7 through 9 bundle's a really good deal and it's only available through next month. Trying to decide if I want to play through 7 or 9 first. ... I'll get to Village but it's coming after 7.
I really mostly just hope the thing moves at a decent clip with some announcements to be interested in instead of spending 20 minutes rambling on about Sleep and the TCG and the amusement park.
@OmnitronVariant At least personally the main reason I preloaded it is that I bought some discounted eShop credit from Newegg to cover it and Resident Evil together and so long as I was redeeming that I figured I might as well just grab them both.
I bought this but I certainly don't gobble up everything Pokemon-related. The only spinoffs I've gotten post-N64 are Rumble, Conquest, and New Snap (and I didn't even end up particularly liking New Snap, thought it was too overstuffed compared to the original), I was prepared to completely skip ZA and only bothered playing it because my roommate got it, and I found Horizons deeply boring and dropped it like 15 episodes in. And really I'm perfectly prepared to skip Gen 10 if it doesn't look good on paper because while I liked SV quite a bit ZA really did nothing for me, especially its DLC.
I bought FireRed because I like FireRed. If you put Sun & Moon up tomorrow I probably wouldn't bother because they're the low point of the series to me.
I picked up FireRed while my roommate got LeafGreen, probably going to juggle playing both to try and do the Kanto Dex because hey why not. ... Probably only worry about the Kanto Dex because the gerbils are especially irritating in this game.
That said I'm really hoping the success of this leads to more. I'm sure they're already planning for RSE, but I really want BW1+2 and HGSS ports and I'd probably get Platinum if they made it available.
I tend to find Treehouses to be pretty brutal to sit through and the only thing I care about involving either game is if Wonder's single player updates wind up being more substantive than just, "We added seven Koopaling levels," so this is a skip for me.
For future reference on stuff like this you can keep things from redownloading by going to its eShop page and hitting + or - five times. Had to do this with the digital version of BotW because I also have a cartridge of it.
I got FireRed and my roommate's getting LeafGreen, though also got the Resident Evil collection coming out the same day so I might prioritize playing RE7 or 9 before I actually play it.
@EarthboundBenjy Given the games immediately shot to the top of the eShop charts I'd say bare minimum they also do RSE at some point. If anything I'm hoping it leads to Platinum, HGSS, and BW1&2 ports at some point, especially HGSS.
I mean, I'm willing to pay it, but the price is 250% what they charged for GBA games on the Wii U despite this being a port they seem to have put literally zero effort into, of course it's overpriced. On the same console you can pay the same amount and get three Castlevania GBA games and a SNES game to boot.
I think I first fiddled with the original on the Wii, but I first actually finished it on the 3DS. Took awhile to develop a taste for the original and though I've played through it several times at this point I'm still pretty, "Eh, it's fine, nowhere near one of my favorites," on it; holds up super well mechanically but structurally there are significant problems with it.
Splitting my time between Donkey Kong Country 2 and Death Match Love Comedy mostly. Since Nintendo seems to be screwing around with the release of the latter (even though it's rated T) ended up grabbing the PS5 version.
@molkom The differences entirely come down to some changes in which Pokemon are available, and the starters are the same in both versions. The question of which to go with pretty much entirely boils down to which set of exclusives you prefer -
At least we've got Home support confirmed I guess. The biggest question I have is if they'll add a means to get Deoxys or the Altering Cave stuff.
I really hope they end up doing more of these. I'd be thrilled to buy HGSS and BW1&2 on the Switch if they'd make them available, and I'd most likely pick up Emerald and Platinum too.
I'm really hoping we get some kind of announcement of more of the games in the future. I really want some kind of means to play the Johto and Unova games on Switch and I wouldn't at all complain about having the rest.
I really wish the NSO icons were more often done the way they're done for the Xenoblade games, where they're all grouped as one series rather than being divided among games. No good reason I can't use a Mario Tennis character with a Mario Party background.
I'll probably pick it up at some point since it's only $5, but since I only really got X because I had a voucher expiring I had to use on something before it expired I'm not really rushing to play it. Game never really interested me nearly as much as the rest of the series, the mech stuff's just a giant turnoff.
Do hope though that this leads to eventual updates for the other Xenoblade games. 2 in particular would super benefit from it.
Not touched Among Us in ages but that might motivate me to return to it, I'm always a sucker for Ace Attorney.
Also the fact the Edgeworth skin happened the same week the AAI collection came out is going to very get my hopes up that we finally get more Ace Attorney news soon.
Probably like a 7. It plays well but I wish there were a middle ground on the AI between, "Completely ineffectual," and, "Aggressive rubber-banding," and it does feel pretty scant on content.
Also I have no clue why these games nowadays won't actually let you play a full length game of tennis.
Definitely wanting to pick it up at some point but it'll probably wait a bit, is coming out the same day as Death Match Love Comedy and I've been wanting to play that ever since I first played Raging Loop so it's the bigger VN priority for me at the moment.
Probably Gardevoir, though it's partially by default since gen 3's definitely my least favorite chunk of the Pokedex. Got ones I like but a ton of them I find forgettable at best including all of the starters.
