Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th December)

Whoever

Probably try and wrap up the runs of the original SMRPG and HeartGold I've had going for a bit. Would like to try and clear off those and at least one or two other things before the year's out.

Been increasingly in the mood to replay SMB3 but at this point probably just wait for New Year's to stick it on next year's list.

Re: Pikmin 4 Has Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

I really need to actually get around to playing the game. Used a voucher on it back when it came out but I'd just played through Pikmin 1 for the first time right before it so I wound up not really being in the mood and I kind of just never got around to it. Even now feel like I'm kind of more eager to replay 3 than I am to get to it.

Re: Multiple Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes

Whoever

@Zachuratedphat A few weeks ago one of the system updates apparently broke compatibility with it and caused some issues. I had a bit at the farm where the game had been running perfectly to that point then suddenly locked in place; I was still able to audibly open menus but Leon just endlessly jiggled back and forth in one place.

Re: 35 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Games To Look Forward To In 2026

Mario Tennis, Fire Emblem, and Death Match Love Comedy are really the only things on my radar at the moment. Might shell out for Resident Evil just due to the bundle of 7, 8, and 9 being a good deal but not really super interested in 9 itself.

Yoshi's kind of a firm, "Ehhhhhmaybe." I'd never get hyped for a Yoshi game because they're wildly inconsistent in quality, though usually doesn't feel like you get two bad ones in a row and Crafted World was terrible so maybe that's a good sign for this one.

Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Mega Dimension (Switch 2) - Repetition Takes The Shine Off

@Yoshi3 The only newly obtainable Pokemon in ZA at all is AZ's Floette. Everything else is just new Megas.

Though there are a ton of previously event-only things that can be gotten from the DLC. Now the only ones not permanently obtainable from some game or other are Victini, Zarude, Walking Wake, and Iron Leaves, though you need a 3DS to get Celebi, Deoxys, Battle Bond Greninja, and Spinda.

@ThatOneLevel "I don't recall other games doing other than the enhanced editions and remakes for the next console generation."

It certainly happened in places. Look how many versions of Street Fighter 2 there are after all, plus you have stuff like the alternate versions of Persona 3 and Shin Megami Tensei 3, there being two separate SNES versions of the first Final Fight one of which was a rental-exclusive, and how a number of the early Harvest Moons have separate boy and girl versions.

It really just feels incredibly cheap, like they were trying to figure out a way to make it drawn out as long as possible while putting in the absolute bare minimum amount of effort.

Also god would it kill this game to shut up every once in awhile? So tired of constantly checking in with the useless friend groups in these games to endlessly hear about food, no clue why nearly every Pokemon game does this now but it gets to be infuriating.

Re: Japanese Charts: Sorry Samus, Octopath Is The Best-Selling New Release This Week

Whoever

Really doubting it's a release that's going to have much in the way of legs given 1), it''s already fallen out of the top slot on the Switch 1 eShop under a week after releasing, and 2), about the most positive buzz it's really getting is, "Yeah, it's pretty good," and there are a lot of people who aren't being that nice about it.

I don't think there's any danger of Metroid as a series dying or anything - Dread is the best-selling individual release in the series and all - but between the nightmarish production and the attempts to big-up Prime not really seeming to have worked critically or commercially I could see it being a series that ends up sticking to 2D for awhile.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Verdict On Red Dead Redemption For Switch 2

Whoever

@Gerald You can freely use games on either, the only restriction is whichever one doesn't have a given virtual key card loaded needs to be online to use it. And even then since you can set two consoles as your primary ones you can just move the virtual cards back and forth freely anyway.

If you do a whole system transfer you'll need to re-log in on your Switch 1 and do whatever necessary setup again (which is one of a multitude of reasons why I opted not to actually do a system transfer myself and instead gradually move stuff over) but the Switch 1 will still be totally usable as a viable alternative if desired.

Re: Community: It's Time To Rate Your Switch 1 & 2 Games Of The Year

Whoever

Okay, best to worst and filtering out ports, let's go.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
No Sleep for Kaname Date
Shuten Order
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Donkey Kong Bananza
Iwakura Aria (speaking of you don't seem to have an entry for that one, wasn't coming up searching for it)
Mario Kart World

Sure there's a lot worse out there than MKW but it is the one I liked the least of what I played.
