Bundle is how I got my Switch 2 and benefit of hindsight I would've just gotten the console on its own, but better to have spent an extra $50 on a game I didn't care for than an extra $80 I suppose.
Glad to see they're going so heavy with this lately, guess Christmas is a powerful motivator. Hope they fix Kill la Kill at some point, only thing I can think of I have that isn't compatible at this point.
Probably try and wrap up the runs of the original SMRPG and HeartGold I've had going for a bit. Would like to try and clear off those and at least one or two other things before the year's out.
Been increasingly in the mood to replay SMB3 but at this point probably just wait for New Year's to stick it on next year's list.
Been playing the game daily for about a month and a half and it's been going great for me. Unfortunately been very sick the past few days so not had the chance to dig into this update yet.
I really need to actually get around to playing the game. Used a voucher on it back when it came out but I'd just played through Pikmin 1 for the first time right before it so I wound up not really being in the mood and I kind of just never got around to it. Even now feel like I'm kind of more eager to replay 3 than I am to get to it.
I'll grant that I hated Engage, but Three Houses was fantastic and Fortune's Weave looks a lot closer to that so I'm not inclined to completely write off the series at the moment by any means.
The game already has patches on PC that haven't made it to consoles yet and thus it was never going to be feature-complete on cartridge on first print, so I really don't actually see the harm here.
@Zachuratedphat A few weeks ago one of the system updates apparently broke compatibility with it and caused some issues. I had a bit at the farm where the game had been running perfectly to that point then suddenly locked in place; I was still able to audibly open menus but Leon just endlessly jiggled back and forth in one place.
Mario Tennis, Fire Emblem, and Death Match Love Comedy are really the only things on my radar at the moment. Might shell out for Resident Evil just due to the bundle of 7, 8, and 9 being a good deal but not really super interested in 9 itself.
Yoshi's kind of a firm, "Ehhhhhmaybe." I'd never get hyped for a Yoshi game because they're wildly inconsistent in quality, though usually doesn't feel like you get two bad ones in a row and Crafted World was terrible so maybe that's a good sign for this one.
@Shade_Koopa He's also talked about how he'd like to see it ported at some point. In general Sakurai says a lot of things and you can't really take anything he says seriously because every game the dude makes is his last.
@Yoshi3 The only newly obtainable Pokemon in ZA at all is AZ's Floette. Everything else is just new Megas.
Though there are a ton of previously event-only things that can be gotten from the DLC. Now the only ones not permanently obtainable from some game or other are Victini, Zarude, Walking Wake, and Iron Leaves, though you need a 3DS to get Celebi, Deoxys, Battle Bond Greninja, and Spinda.
@AussieMcBucket It's probably because, "Just throw a time limit and random item spawning on an existing map," is a very cheap, low effort way to pad out content. Be it this or the DK DLC they're both just minimum budget nonsense designed to waste your time.
@ThatOneLevel "I don't recall other games doing other than the enhanced editions and remakes for the next console generation."
It certainly happened in places. Look how many versions of Street Fighter 2 there are after all, plus you have stuff like the alternate versions of Persona 3 and Shin Megami Tensei 3, there being two separate SNES versions of the first Final Fight one of which was a rental-exclusive, and how a number of the early Harvest Moons have separate boy and girl versions.
@ThatOneLevel Silksong's already most likely sold more copies than Arceus, which ZA does not appear to be selling as well as, and DLC tends to have a pretty low attach rate compared to the base game. There is zero chance this DLC outsells Silksong.
@NintendoByNature Don't see how on earth that's a contradiction in your book - Dan is a Japanese man and they have him being played by a guy with a history of blaming Asians for COVID - but thanks for letting me know you're someone better off on my ignore list.
It really just feels incredibly cheap, like they were trying to figure out a way to make it drawn out as long as possible while putting in the absolute bare minimum amount of effort.
Also god would it kill this game to shut up every once in awhile? So tired of constantly checking in with the useless friend groups in these games to endlessly hear about food, no clue why nearly every Pokemon game does this now but it gets to be infuriating.
Even if the movie looked any good - and it really, really doesn't - casting a white guy with a history of racist jokes as Dan is enough to make this a never watch for me.
Really doubting it's a release that's going to have much in the way of legs given 1), it''s already fallen out of the top slot on the Switch 1 eShop under a week after releasing, and 2), about the most positive buzz it's really getting is, "Yeah, it's pretty good," and there are a lot of people who aren't being that nice about it.
I don't think there's any danger of Metroid as a series dying or anything - Dread is the best-selling individual release in the series and all - but between the nightmarish production and the attempts to big-up Prime not really seeming to have worked critically or commercially I could see it being a series that ends up sticking to 2D for awhile.
@Gerald You can freely use games on either, the only restriction is whichever one doesn't have a given virtual key card loaded needs to be online to use it. And even then since you can set two consoles as your primary ones you can just move the virtual cards back and forth freely anyway.
If you do a whole system transfer you'll need to re-log in on your Switch 1 and do whatever necessary setup again (which is one of a multitude of reasons why I opted not to actually do a system transfer myself and instead gradually move stuff over) but the Switch 1 will still be totally usable as a viable alternative if desired.
I haven't used it enough to have the minimal amount of usage required, which I guess goes to show you how quickly I forget it's even a thing when not looking at articles about it.
Though really I'm usually just not a listening to music person anyway. I doubt I've listened to a single song on Spotify this year.
Wario World's aged like a fine milk. Replayed it a bit back and from the word go it's a cheap, plodding chore. I struggle to think of a Nintendo-published Gamecube game I wouldn't rather have over it.
I'd probably pass ordinarily but my roommate agreed to go half and half on it and I've always regretted that my grandma cluelessly tossed out my actual Virtual Boy so yeah, I'll go ahead and spring for it.
I'll never understand why people are so fanatically obsessed with obtaining cardboard that costs like 4 cents to print. It'd be one thing if you were actually playing the game but with so many people throwing thousands of dollars just at owning the stupid things it's insanely eye-rolling to me.
Probably going to try to cram through the original Super Mario RPG in the next few days. Wondering about trying to get through replaying Danganronpa V3 or doing a run of Paranormasight before the year's out.
Okay, best to worst and filtering out ports, let's go.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
No Sleep for Kaname Date
Shuten Order
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved
Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
Donkey Kong Bananza
Iwakura Aria (speaking of you don't seem to have an entry for that one, wasn't coming up searching for it)
Mario Kart World
Sure there's a lot worse out there than MKW but it is the one I liked the least of what I played.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Ice Climber
I went for Europe, I think the art looks better against the black than it does the grey of the Japanese one.

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Version 1.0.3 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Not really related but probably should put up something noting that they put up a pretty meaty update for Fitness Boxing 3.
Re: Pikmin 4 Has Been Updated To Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
I really need to actually get around to playing the game. Re: Oh No, Vampire Crawlers' Gameplay Trailer Suggests It's Going To Suck Up All Our Time
Anything with card battling is very firmly not my taste so I'll stick to the original, but do hope folks enjoy it.
Re: Resident Evil Fans Are Convinced Another Veteran Character Is In Requiem
My only real stance on this is that ever since the 4 remake came out I've been wanting a Revelations 3 with Ashley as one of the leads.
Re: Surprise! Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade's Free Switch 2 Demo Is Now Live
@the_beaver I imagine it'll be fine, was originally a PS4 game and all. Rebirth's going to be the trickier port.
Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds Super Mario's OG Game Boy Outing
They should've included the Ambassadors of Funk song.
Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Mega Dimension (Switch 2) - Repetition Takes The Shine Off
@Troubbble Forgot about Vivillon, only forms of it you can get are Garden and Marine.
Re: Fire Emblem Shadows Makes Metacritic's "Worst Games Of 2025" List

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mega Man 6
I way prefer the Japanese one, lot more fond of that art style.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Marvel Games
Kinda-sorta forgot one in that there's Marvel DLC for Pinball FX.

Re: Multiple Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
Glad it didn't take long to fix RE4, been wanting to do new runs of both it and the remake soon. Might try and knock both out before the year's up.
Re: Capcom Game Awards Switch And Switch 2 eShop Deals, Save Up To 85%
For what it's worth the eShop page for Resident Evil 4 now says it's Switch 2 compatible so I guess they fixed it at some point.

Re: Higround Launches Sonic & Dreamcast Keyboards, And They're Stunning
The Dreamcast one looks great, the blue Sonic one is okay, the others are too garish I think.

Re: Kirby Air Riders Team Disbanding Soon, Game Updates Also Ending
My primary opinion on this is hoping that Sakurai's next project is a Kid Icarus port.

Re: Review: Terminator 2D: NO FATE (Switch) - A Simplistic Yet Fascinating 16-Bit Love Letter
Seems like it might be worth a look for $10 but is an easy pass for $30.
Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Nothing's topping Hundred Line for me this year but at least the E33 devs shouted it out when they both came out.

Re: Surprise! Capcom Is Bringing Pragmata To Switch 2, Demo Out Today

Re: Xbox Is Bringing Another Game To Switch 2 In 2026
Oh neat, was curious about this one but never got around to checking it out.
Re: Hades 2 Dev Shares Adorable GOTY Nominee Artwork Ahead Of The Game Awards
God that DK design never stops being absolutely hideous. It's a neat picture but I can only look at his stupid, ugly face.
Re: Mini Review: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Now A Legit Contender For Mario's Karting Crown
I find this game way, way more fun than MKW personally.
As for Kirby, played the demo a bit and it seemed okay but not okay enough for me to ultimately decide to buy it. The poor roster didn't help.
Re: Your Nintendo Switch 'Year In Review 2025' Won't Arrive Until Next Month
Mine for last year never worked for some reason, only ever got an error message.
Either way my most played Switch game was definitely Hundred Line.

Re: Random: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Wins GameStop's "Worst Game Of The Year" Award
I feel like regardless of quality, "Give us $10 to play an instruction manual about the console you bought," is a stupid enough idea to deserve it.
