@Spider-Kev At least personally I like the first game way more than the second. The second one really drastically bloated out and slowed down the experience, on top of adding a bunch of awkward new mechanics for the sake of an attempt at realism that really makes it feel like a very different beast that while I think it's good I very much have to be in the mood for.
The first one's a lot more just GTA in the old west, for good and bad, and at least personally I think it's much more just straight up fun for that.
@SBandy1 I honestly wasn't even aware it wasn't supported but I guess it's nice to learn that now since I was wondering about doing another run of it soon.
Desperately wish they'd just port the Steam version of Chrono Trigger already, but at this point I imagine if it does ever end up on consoles it's going to be in the form of a remake that completely ruins it by inflicting that HD-2D trash on it. Probably while scrubbing out all the DS content given how Square loves for modern releases of their games to have less content for some reason.
Can't believe people are resorting to the, "Let's see you do better!" defense. I'm not a game designer, it isn't my job to do better. You don't have to be a gourmet chef to say food tastes bad.
@The_Nintendo_Expat Yeah, that's a pretty funny difference. Can tell what happened there - Switch 1 version they killed that guy while in the Switch 2 one they captured him - but it does look a bit jarring if you don't know the context.
One of those updates I likely wouldn't shell out for if only because the Switch 1 port was very good anyway, but with it being free, hey, I'll happily check it out, been meaning to replay it anyway.
Now please give a similar treatment to GTA4 already.
@Yoshi3 I'm in this weird in-between on Other M where I think it mostly deserves the hate it gets but also would like to see it remastered, mostly because there IS a solid game in there, it just needs to have not the worst control scheme this side of the SNES Batman Forever and the ability to skip its horrendous cutscenes. A better controller and not having to sit through its cutscenes wouldn't fix everything but they would improve the game tremendously.
@OldGamer999 Nintendo's always had plenty of, "Yeah, sure, that was fine," stuff mixed in among the classics. For every Galaxy or Breath of the Wild or Mario 64 there's been an Other M or Sushi Striker or Pilotwings.
I've always been kind of, "Yeah, sure, it's fine," on regular Mega Lucario, but I think this one looks absolutely horrendous. Way too overdesigned. Also why are they so adverse to changing types on these new Megas?
@slowpoke_tail I desperately, passionately miss actual level design and mission structure. Already bracing myself for the next 3D Mario game inevitably being some 200 hour open world slop that I'm not going to want to bother with.
People can be hyped for it or not, but either way I do always find it incredibly eyerolling when people go, "How dare you criticize this game? You haven't played it, you don't know what it's like!" Neither do any of you people rushing to defend it. You're speaking from the exact same place of ignorance and thinking that having a positive view of it somehow makes doing that different.
The point of prerelease materials is to give people an idea of what they can expect the final game to be like and if the prerelease content for Prime 4 is making people uncertain in it or lose interest in it then that's on the marketing, not on those people, and there's no reason they shouldn't be allowed to express those negative sentiments. In no way is it "crying" or "whining" or whatever.
I've had a voucher sitting since January I need to hurry up and find a use for. I guess it'll probably end up being Xenoblade X - what I originally intended to use it on before deciding I wasn't super interested (not really invested in its premise or aesthetic, and with four other Xenoblade games that I'd rather play over it and also Torna I have a hard time seeing myself bothering to make the time for it) - but kind of keep trying to convince myself of some other option. ARMS and Bayonetta 2 were my main considerations but I found good deals on them elsewhere, so now it's mostly between Xenoblade, Miitopia, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and maybe Brothership.
Probably going to focus on Detective Instinct for a bit. After that no idea but I'm kind of wondering about trying to cram through a few more RPGs or visual novels before the year's out.
More difficulty options is always better. Is dumb they locked the hard mode behind beating the game - all difficulty options should be available from the get-go - but I'm glad they offer both that and an easy mode.
I'm guessing they're mostly just there to be cannon fodder to build Sylux up, but I still really don't at all understand the point. Nobody's playing these things for the plot.
I own Mario Run and continually forget it exists until they do periodic events that remind me of it and even then I don't usually actually get back to it. Might in this case since it's been awhile, I dunno, it's a fun game, it's just very slight.
Wonder if they might at some point do some kind of, "And here's just the other stuff I guess," Mega Man collection with things like the Legends games, Soccer, Powered Up, and Command Mission.
It baffles me when people get offended over Digital Foundry or whoever pointing out, "These are the ways in which this is an inferior version of the game," because like... They aren't saying you can't enjoy it anyway. The entire point of what they do is providing this information for the sorts of people who DO care about this stuff.
Like, do I care about rain splatter effects or lighting? Not especially, but I think it's good something like this exists because there are people who do care about that kind of thing and there should be a point of reference for them to know what they're looking at.
@HotGoomba It's also, y'know, mostly Sega, Ubisoft, WB, and sports games which are all pretty well known for cratering in price quickly, especially given a few of them are years-old ports anyway. The game key card thing probably isn't related.
Probably the ones that'll most benefit from it. Y and B is so much more natural with modern controllers than B and A are.
@Woodyshoe Wish they'd let us remap the classic controllers in general. I'd happily turn the C button into a Minus button, zero hesitation. Already turned it into a second Home button on my Pro controller because meaning to do that and hitting the wrong one is the only scenario where I'd actually hit that button.
I really wish they'd fix how for some idiot reason every single time you go to your list of hidden games it makes you put in your password. It's a completely pointless thing to password-protect in the first place but you especially don't have to ask for it continually.
I'm fine with that because there's really no way to not make the other cover look stupid with the thinner space. If anything I appreciate that they put in enough effort to change it.
That said regardless of the console that gun box art still looks absolutely awful.
I can at least understand why these ones would have legal issues. Still baffled about Morgana because that was seemingly just removed for the fun of it.
By far the part of this sale that most confuses me is the fact that they only have 20% off of WarioWare: Move It. Between 1), the game being two years old, 2), it not doing very well in the first place, and 3), it not being compatible with Switch 2 Joycons you'd think they'd be trying to make it as appealing as possible if they're going to put it on sale.
Honestly think Adeleine not being in is legit the tipping point on me deciding not to get this game. Was kind of wishy-washy on it anyway but learning the character I'd definitely play as isn't there for no explicable reason is a good reason to fall on the, "Nah, I'll pass," side of the fence.
Seems really weird there's no sign of Darkstalkers in there. Yeah, I could see where maybe Morrigan might be a rating issue, but could likely stick in someone like Victor or Demitri no problem.
I really don't at all buy that given how every game he does he's central to the marketing including overly long, dull videos where he just rambles on and on barely actually saying anything about the game, not to mention his, "Here's why I'm so great," Youtube series. Guy strikes me as someone who thoroughly enjoys the sound of his own voice and wants himself to be a brand.
He's talented for sure, but I'm not exactly inclined to think the guy who keeps saying no one but him could make games like he does is humble.
Yeah, I'm firmly on the side of, "Co-op-only shouldn't be a thing." Being made with that in mind then sure, whatever, but it's a big ask to not provide any kind of alternative option for someone who doesn't have anyone to play with or rightfully doesn't want to engage with randoms, and any game that doesn't provide some kind of single player option isn't worth my time personally.
Random but neat. I already played through the game so doesn't do me a lot of good in the short term but glad there's an upgrade option, can see myself doing another run of it sometime since while it's not exactly my favorite Kodaka project it is pretty good, I'd feel comfortable in saying it's better than Rain Code and Ultra Despair Girls at least even if it can't compare to Hundred Line or Danganronpa 1, 2, and V3. ... Admittedly my opinion might've been a little higher if not for how right before it came out I finally got around to watching Akudama Drive and also thought that was better.
Hopefully they fix some of the awkward translation stuff (especially the weird bit where one half of a conversation is misgendering someone but not the other half, no clue how they even managed to introduce that problem in translating it but it makes a character you're supposed to like come off as utterly loathesome) and the parts where the text goes off the screen somehow. It's a very readable translation but it isn't really an ideal one.
Only ones of them I've really played on my Switch 2 yet were Odyssey and ARMS, and didn't notice any giant glowups with either or anything but they both looked and ran perfectly fine which is really all you can ask for.
Honestly the more I look at this design the more I hate it. I was on board with giving Zeraora a Mega because it's always been boring and ill-defined (and it was the worst part of my favorite Pokemon movie) but this just looks like really offputting scribbles. Feels like there was no real consistent philosophy in how this design was done, they just drew lines and spikes until they didn't.
Square never met a get rich quick scheme that they didn't wholeheartedly embrace and then lose a ton of money on, so makes sense a former executive would still be thinking that way.
@LightSpirit Or they didn't like it. "Your opinion doesn't match with mine on this game I haven't actually played yet," does not mean the opinion's invalid.
