Been wondering why they hadn't put up Balloon Kid yet, underrated game, though yes, it is weird they wouldn't just give us the color one.

As for Yoshi, it's not like an at all memorable game in the first place and we already had the NES one so don't see the point. Wish they'd put up Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, at least it's a lot more distinct from Puzzle League.

@dustinprewitt I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't actually check to see if you have the appropriate hardware, given the Labo VR stuff doesn't and it'd probably be more trouble than its worth putting in some kind of detection in the cardboard model.

I picked it up 1), because my roommate was willing to go half and half on it, and 2), I've always regretted that my grandma randomly tossed out my actual Virtual Boy.

@chrissiejpayne I think the game hurts on a replay but it's not really due to the badges. Helps that outside of the levels where they're forced I don't use them - all three times I've beaten the game it's been badge-free - but I think the bigger issue is that the game prioritizes wacky spectacle over platforming which means a lot of levels are very short and simple without much challenge, and past the gimmicks they don't tend to be very memorable.

Is pretty much why even though Wonder's certainly a lot more interesting to look at I think NSMBU is a significantly better game, its level design is just so much tighter and you don't have stupid stuff like, "Run around this empty room jumping until you find all of the invisible blocks," going on.

@TitanSix Even if that were true - not sure it is given it's not like being an original property would correct for problems like the giant empty desert or how many people think Sylux wound up being a really lame villain - I'd still say it's perfectly reasonable to expect an entry in the series to feel a certain way and to hold it against a new entry if it doesn't. If you buy a sequel it's probably safe to say you want more like what came before it and if that isn't delivered on that's on the people that made it.

Do we know if you can actually play a full match of tennis in this one? Was always so stupid you couldn't in the last one.

Either way I'm locked in on getting it since I never did get Aces (pretty much entirely because of not being able to do a full match) and my roommate's wanting to go half and half on it.

The game needed to deliver if it was going to find a broader audience and for a lot of people it didn't, no great mystery here.

The single player content's going to need to be a lot better than it looks for me to go for it. Never going to touch the multiplayer stuff and while Rosalina's tempting I don't think her plus a handful of remixed levels is enough.

I'm mostly looking forward to Fire Emblem, though I have some trepidation about it due to not liking Engage. Yoshi's a firm maybe, Yoshi games vary so wildly in quality that I don't really want to trust one before it's been out for a bit.

Not really interested in the others. Might go for Tomodachi Life, but I never picked up Splatoon 3 and never played the single player modes of 1 and 2 so I don't think Raiders has any appeal to me, and I've tried several times to get into Rhythm Heaven and I'm consistently awful at it.

Never played Dragon Quest 7 - checking this one out eventually's a firm, "Eh, maybe on sale if the mood strikes me," - but the most consistent opinion I've heard about it is that it's way, way too long so significantly sanding it down is probably a good thing.

Guy gets so much credit for his work in revolutionizing RPGs that it's kind of easy to forget that he also did it for visual novels. He has a truly insane legacy.

Never really saw the point, but I did order a Virtual Boy so maybe I'll try out the VR stuff using it, I dunno.

I might look into it but really couldn't at all develop a taste for Bug Fables which has made me hesitant when it comes to Paper Mario-likes.

Just learned that Vac Woman's design was done by Andrew Dickman so, uh, definitely now wish I could change my vote. Massive piece of garbage, that guy.

That NA one is an eyesore, Japanese one is way better.

@Expa0 Did definitely feel like they had a specific thing in mind for the role they want to fill. Lot of vacuum cleaners and every one of them has a weird extending arm.

I think I'm most partial to design K, but C, D, G, I, L, N, S, and T are all also pretty tempting.

@Chadbury Even Engage being a relative disappointment sales-wise (probably due to how mixed word of mouth is even among fans) still moved two million copies and FEH has made well over a billion dollars in revenue. Of course Fire Emblem should exist.

Game seems pretty charming but also like the sort of thing I'd instantly become bored with, so can't see myself checking it out. I imagine it has its audience but know my tastes well enough to know it'd just go on the shelf within an hour or two if I got it.

I edited it into my earlier post but I just keep forgetting Danganronpa 2x2 is a Switch 2 release. Though being fair based on how little work they apparently had done when they did the anniversary demo I actually rather doubt it's actually releasing this year.

Death Match Love Comedy, Mario Tennis, Danganronpa 2x2, and Fortune's Weave are the only ones I intend to get for the moment, and the last one I'm kind of hesitant to get THAT excited for since I strongly disliked Engage.

Yoshi is a firm, "Wait for reviews," since Yoshi games vary wildly in quality. Sometimes you get a Woolly World and sometimes you get a Crafted World.

I picked up Dispatch and also grabbed Coffee Talk while it's on sale.

Eh, maybe, it's at least on my radar though I'm not 100%. Probably just depends what else comes out around it.

Forgot Three Kingdoms was a thing, should look into that sometime. Remember was curious about it at the time.

Never did get Splatoon 3 and been years since I've touched 1 or 2 but think this is a pretty good addition.

@AussieMcBucket Stuff like the first Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors where they mix and match across the series with no real regard for narrative logic instead of being hyper fixated on just one entry.

Not bad for what it is, particularly given the game seemed to be kind of forgotten about pretty quickly after released. Not exactly one you see people bring up much.

That said I can't really see any scenario where I ever bother to pick it up. Between the other Zelda and Fire Emblem games plus Persona I've already got five Musous on the Switch as it is, and seeing as I both didn't care about TotK's plot and already would rather play the first HW than AOC I can't really see this game having any appeal at all to me. Wish they'd go back to doing the dream match games, so much more interesting than these asset flip side story ones.

It's always been kind of weird to me that Nep-Enut got such a prominent spot on the box art. Guess it's striking but it's not even like an especially notable or even common enemy.

Which also makes me wonder just what its role in Paper Mario would've been if it hadn't been cut. Don't really see how you do a fight with it.

Probably going to make another run at the original FF7 - tried to get through it a few times now and been wanting to play through it before Remake. Might squeeze in something more actiony around it, not sure what. Yoshi's Island maybe.

Would like to see Sticks and Sally get in. Not even got any particular attachment to either of them but they both represent oft-neglected aspects of the series's history and both have fans who'd go crazy to see them.

@Chocobo_Shepherd Spoken like someone who has no clue what she actually said. Her entire argument was that the demographics of movie critics do not reflect those of the movie viewing populace and thus movies aimed at those markets have a tendency to get disproportionately negative reviews because they're being judged by people who are not the target audience and do not understand the cultures those movies are coming from and aimed at.

Not that there's any chance I'll watch this (or the movie itself) but I do prefer them doing dedicated movie Directs over wasting time on these things in the general ones.

@BrazillianCara It pretty much goes hand-in-hand with that. I have way more digital games than I have space on my Switch 2 and so it was a, "Well, I'm done with this one, into the not installed pile it goes," move and by this point I don't think I even have space for it without clearing out something else first.

Doesn't really help I'm not crazy about Wonder to begin with? It's fun, but the only 2D Mario games I'd definitely rank it over are Lost Levels and NSMB2, feel like the emphasis on spectacle over platforming makes it not hold up super great on repeat playthroughs.

Not gotten season 3 yet - decided to wait for whenever it's on sale - but whenever I do get it whenever I play as Alex I'll definitely finish people off with the One-Winged Angel every chance I get.

I know it's kind of intrinsic to the art style but wow these big Lego sculpts often have really nightmarish faces. It's not quite as bad as the Pikachu but that is still not pleasant to look at.

@Kazman2007 Honestly Bug Fables kind of scared me away from trying any other Paper Mario-likes. As hyped up as that one was I just could not get into it at all, it felt like a hollow imitation walking around in a Paper Mario skin suit.

Picked up FF7. Next thing I'm for sure getting is Mario Tennis but I might decide to take a gamble on Dispatch, we'll see.

It's well past time to shine a spotlight on the greatest of all Mario characters, Trunkle.

Don't think I'm going to play the game again any time soon - the DLC really just soured my opinions on it - but the Mega Shard limit boost is a great addition.

It's very unfortunate for the devs, though I do wonder how on earth the game managed to have such a troubled production in the first place. Definitely had to be poor management because the original mostly holds up and it really should've just been a matter of, "Make it look prettier, polish the wonky controls and camera," if you wanted to modernize it.

@LinktotheFuture Physical includes Magic the Gathering cards, digital includes the original FF7.

I ended up deciding to spring for it and at least based on the demo I wasn't having any problems. I can tolerate some artifacting or whatever so long as the core experience is mostly stable and that seems to be the case here so I'm fine with it.

@X68000 Eh, Nintendo likes to do random housekeeping in the weeks leading up to Directs sometimes. I could see a year later update to a remaster that sold pretty well but didn't set the world on fire being something that they're like, "We don't need to devote runtime to this," since dropping this update like this has people talking about the game again but it'd probably be buried by talk on the Mario Wonder DLC or Fire Emblem or whatever new they announce otherwise.

Will say from some playing around with it I am definitely not a fan of the Turbo mode. It feels like the enemy hitboxes are overly wonky and it's really stupid that even dying or choosing to restart keeps counting down from the same timer, with the only actual way to reset it being to completely exit the level.

@Spectrum123 Probably didn't include a Funky mode because the 3DS version already added its own easy mode and that's also included in this one.
