Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Kirby Air Riders?

@OldGamer999 They just did a Mario soccer game three years ago and despite strong initial sales they quickly fell off a cliff due to the mediocre reception. Doubt they're really rushing to make another one of those again any time soon.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Kirby Air Riders?

I guess since this comment thread's now about Kirby as a whole...

Personally it's a series I like, don't love. Generally can pick up a Kirby game and play through it and have some fun but I'm usually not dying to get them day one or anything and there are a good few I've never actually bought at all, the original Air Ride included (though I did rent it and didn't like it). My favorite is undoubtedly Super Star Deluxe probably then followed by 64, after that's probably Adventure / Nightmare in Dream Land.

All in all I'd probably agree in calling it a 7/10 series, but I don't by any measure consider a 7/10 a bad thing. No Kirby game's ever likely to blow me away but they're generally solid, fun comfort games for when you just want something kind of mindless. Plus I imagine with the core cast mostly being super basic shapes they're probably incredibly cheap to make compared to a lot of other series.

For the record my first exposure to the series was actually Dream Course and Avalanche, got them both for my birthday when I was like five or six.

That being said if I do have a big grievance with the Kirby series it's that it's constantly dumping all kinds of new lore and darker implications in supplemental material but it's pretty much impossible to actually care about any of it at this point because none of it is ever actually going to add up to anything or in any way matter.

It's a firm, "Eh I dunno maybe," for me. Demo was fun but I just got Fitness Boxing 3 and Bayonetta 1 & 2 (during the very brief window when they were for once on sale a couple of days ago) and I'm split if I'd rather go with Kirby or Sonic to scratch the racing itch that MKW failed to scratch for me. I think I'm leaning Sonic but kind of keeping my options open at the moment.

Re: ICYMI: Red Dead Redemption's Switch 2 Release Is A Free Upgrade For Switch Owners

Whoever

At least personally I like RDR1 way, way, WAY more than 2. 2's still very good if you're in the right mindset for it and there's something to be said about the sheer density of its content, but it has a lot of really obnoxious mechanics in the name of poorly conceptualized (and frankly in my case, entirely unwanted) realism that really just make the experience a lot more plodding than it has to be, there's entirely too much bloat, it has possibly the slowest-paced and most boring opening I've ever seen in a game, and then it also ends in hours upon hours of dull busywork. Also I think it really suffers for the fact that it's blatantly reusing plot points from and going out of its way to call back to the first game in ways that often don't feel very natural.

The first game also starts slow and slows down near the end, but I feel like being a much quicker experience on the whole does it a world of good in comparison.

That said I'd probably buy a Switch 2 port of RDR2, but it wouldn't be full price.

Re: Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack Switch Western Release Cancelled

Whoever

@Elektrogeist1287 Not really, the series is generally more of a depressing, violent horror story. It's just there's kind of a weird underlying trend in some of the games toward out of nowhere fanservice that really doesn't suit the mood at all, and the comedy spinoff included in this is especially heavy on it.

Re: Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack Switch Western Release Cancelled

Whoever

@Elektrogeist1287 Eh, varies. Blood Covered (the first one) and Blood Drive (the last one of this set) were already available anyway, and the first game's widely considered the best one while Blood Drive's pretty universally seen as the worst, but as for the other two...

Book of Shadows people are kind of mixed on. Think the overall consensus on it is that it's got its ups and downs but suffers from some irritating mechanics and bad pacing, but it's a very debated game.

Hysteric Birthday Bash I think is probably the most well-received game after Blood Covered. The fanbase generally seems to like that one in large part because it doesn't really take itself seriously.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Whoever

Looking to finish up Persona 3 Reload mostly. Kind of at a point in the game where I'm very near the end but not quite AT the end so getting pretty checked out and kind of just wanting to get it over with but still enjoyed my experience more than not.

Also I've been making a habit of getting in some time with Fitness Boxing 3 on a daily basis lately.

Re: Kirby Air Riders: Global Test Ride Demo Updated To Version 1.0.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Whoever

Checked out the demo and thought it was decent but not sure if it was decent enough to sell me on the game or not, especially with the Switch 2 version of Sonic coming out a couple weeks later with me also considering going for that one instead. I'll probably play it again during the next free period and try to come to a decision on it but either way it's mostly feeling like a, "Maybe when it's 33% off in a year," kind of purchase to me.

Re: Square Enix Switch 2 Launch Title Scores A Limited-Time Discount

Whoever

I picked the game up when I got my Switch 2 though not gotten around to doing a run through of it yet, and it'll probably be a bit since I'm just wrapping up a playthrough of Persona 3 Reload and not looking to run through another 100 hour RPG right now.

Have already played through the game before on the 3DS though and loved it. Super recommend it, had been meaning to replay it for awhile even before the port was announced.

Re: How Are You Finding Switch Game And App Compatibility On The Switch 2?

Whoever

I've been holding off on getting NieR for if they ever fix its compatibility but other than that I've not really been having many issues and most everything I care about works at least for the most part.

The only issue I've really run into at all is that one time when replaying the first Danganronpa it locked up and then crashed while trying to boot, but that seems like a freak thing given it's not an issue I've otherwise seen reported and the rest of that playthrough ran better than the game does on the Switch 1.

Re: Zelda: A Link To The Past And Chrono Trigger Are "Ripe For Remakes", Says Analytics Firm

Whoever

Really don't see the point in remaking either. Link to the Past is definitely aged in some respects but it's still very playable, doesn't have the limited control scheme holding it back the way Link's Awakening did, and its map has been revised enough into other games that it wouldn't really even feel novel at this point.

As for Chrono Trigger, entirely under the opinion that any kind of remake could only make the experience worse, especially if you inflicted that HD-2D vomit on it. I wish they'd port it to modern consoles, desperately overdue, but remaking it would be a mistake in my view.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch 2 Games

Whoever

Mario Tennis and Fire Emblem are definites, Yoshi I'll wait for reviews since it's an incredibly inconsistent series, Mario Wonder I need to see how much single player content there is since I don't really care at all about multiplayer but Rosalina alone might tip it enough for me to get.

Not super interested in the rest. Maybe Rhythm Heaven but I've tried to get into the series before and I'm just really bad at it.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Update Announced, Here Are The Patch Notes

Whoever

I'm hoping the MK4 fixes include audio fixes, the game really just doesn't sound right. Also the unlimited Fatality timer doesn't seem to work in the arcade MK2 for some reason.

Collection has other issues I hope they fix, can definitely feel the input lag even offline, but so far I've had fun with it at least. Really glad they're cutting the pause menu time down because it takes obscenely long for that menu to pop up as it is, it can be hard sometimes to even find an opening long enough to do it.

Re: Rune Factory 4 Director Hopes To Bring His Next Farming Sim To Consoles

Whoever

@dew12333 It's mostly a one person job going by the description, the director doing pretty much everything but the art design, writing, and music. $32,000 out of pocket on top of whatever's already being paid for the work that's been done as it is isn't exactly chump change for a one person operation.

Besides this also helps to prove interest in the project which will help with securing outside backing and potentially getting more funds from other sources, which is something they specifically say in the description that they're aiming to do but will likely take some time to put together. Having a successful Kickstarter first would help tremendously with getting financers on board.

Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release

Whoever

Kind of long wondered about checking the game out on Switch because my brother (who has it on PS4) has been obsessed with it for years, but it'll probably depend a lot on how they price it digitally. The Switch version hasn't been on sale in nearly five years at this point and it's not a game I'm willing to pay $60 to get caught up on.

@TheStormGL It's a game that's had a ton of different revisions and new iterations over the years. The current Switch release is several updates ago and Repentance is DLC for it, and this new revision will likely add a bunch of new stuff to it.
