@The_Nintendo_Expat @jojobar That's the thing though I've only got a PS5 and Switch 2 and even the original isn't on those systems.
I can play Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits on PS5 via Premium though, I wouldn't mind if they added Chrono Trigger to Premium then I would play it.
Since it's a game I never played I would love to see it get remade, same goes for a lot of other old jrpgs, especially if they are on the level of the Trails in the Sky Remake.
@Yoshi3 I see your point, for example if they were to make the next Fire Emblem open world it wouldn't feel right. I just feel some developers are now at a point where they lack creativity yet they have more powerful hardware to play with. So the only way they think they can innovate is make it open world.
@MoldyPasta Me too, especially when they are done right. Some of the best games I've ever played have been open world games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2/3, Horizon Zero Dawn, BoTW, Dragon Quest 11s, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
@Jumwa Even with the added rookie mode Dread is still a hard game, you still have to learn boss patterns and you definitely will still die multiple times against bosses.
This is just the norm for Playstation and Xbox players, and the more modern Nintendo's consoles become the more people will need to get used to these types of file sizes and GKC releases. Surely Nintendo can't keep using these expensive cartridges for future consoles, at some point they will either go full on digital only or back to disks but scrap the handheld design.
It's hard to think of what would be the "perfect game series" for me, although I'd say Zelda BoTW/TOTK come the closest. Exploring a big open world with the hight level of freedom at your exposal is what makes these games "perfect" for me, I could play for hours and just lose track of time and just escape reality for while. One of the very few games I've genuinely looked forward to my day at work ending so I can go back to playing them.
In terms of the Pokémon games I would disagree, you can see slight improvements with each main entry since the GBA, visuals are getting better, the in game maps are getting bigger, more and more Pokémon to collect, more ways to play such as new gameplay mechanics and PVE. I've said before that they are also limited on time, they need to meet the time requirements for the Anime and TCG so all of them are in sync, and that's down to Nintendo and TPC as much as it is Gamefreak, otherwise I think if they were given 5-6 year dev cycles between each game then I'm sure they would make something more visually appealing just like with their new original game Beast of Reincarnation.
@Lizuka Tbf I played the game on Switch 2 3 months ago whilst it wasn't compatible and I completed the game with no issues what so ever. I don't know what was meant to be wrong for it not to be compatible.
@ottoecamn They have changed their store policies since though, just like with Playstation blocking similar content but before that allowed games like Senran Kagura without being censored.
@CurryPowderKeg79 I'd say it's the sexual content (fanservice), just Google "corpse party 1 bath scene" and that alone is why this release is getting stopped.
@Dang_69 The Specs put it in between the Series S and the original PS5 so the hardware is going to be outdated pretty quick especially when the new Playstation and Xbox consoles launch in a couple of years, so I can't see many people switch from consoles to this new machine if there's more powerful options coming the year after.
Plus Valve already tried this in 2015 with the Steam Machine, three years later it was discontinued.
This will not be giving Playstation or Nintendo any competition, their brand loyalty and image is too big plus people like the simplicity of those consoles. People thought the Steam Deck would challenge the Switch and we know how that turned out, it's sold 4 million...
@SillyG Just saw Team Ninja confirm it's getting a physical release worldwide but Switch 2 version is GKC taking up 40GB, seems a bit much for this game but oh well.
@Max_the_German Exactly, the masses will buy these GKC games and not bat an eyelid. The minority voicing their concern are physical collectors to which I understand their frustration but in 2025 physical collectors are rare and are getting rarer as we get closer to an all digital future on all platforms.
@Anti-Matter You don't even own a Switch 2 so how is it a nightmare for you 🤔. Plus all these third party games are the types of games you wouldn't even play, so it's a non issue surely?
It's been excellent so far and looking forward to AC Shadows next month. But I still think it's missing some key games that I think it's capable of running such as Clair Obscura, Baldurs Gate 3 and the new Doom. Also should get some of the latest multiplayer games like Arc Raiders.
Looking forward to this DLC as I really enjoyed the main game. Hopefully this DLC brings new areas to explore otherwise I don't think it justifies the price tag.
@Paper_Yoshi Probably because Metroid is niche compared to Nintendo's other IP's. They will definitely give more attention to Pokémon, Mario, Smash, Animal Crossing, Zelda, Splatoon and Kirby but anything else is secondary as it won't bring in the huge sales.
@Kiliomp You don't think their games are good but millions of others do and they have some high scoring metacritic games this year as well. Donkey Kong Bananza has a 91 metacritic rating with a 9.0 user score.
Not surprised at all, the console is only 4 months old and has some great games already with one a GOTY contender, and still three exclusives to come before the years end. Third party support has also been better with Cyberpunk, Hades 2, Star Wars, Yakuza and Assassins Creed Shadows to come.
Nintendo need to give this one up, Pokémon continues to sell very well so Palworld in the end posed no threat to their IP plus the game soon lost a lot of hype, from 2 million steam count to now just 39 thousand.
@LazyDaisy First party is never super strong at the start of a gen and that goes for all platforms. Just look at the PS5 and Xbox Series launch games and how long it took for the big exclusives to come out, and even then some were still cross gen. These platforms like to wait for a sizeable install base before releasing certain games.
@Dr_Lugae Yeah the NSO model works much better for Nintendo and it's price and content is worth the small fee, which is why you hardly see anyone ever complain about NSO. It's also a nice bonus when they add DLC into the subscription.
@Striker21 So you want Nintendo to go down the same route as Xbox and become an embarrassment, having Halo, Gears of War and Forza on Playstation just shows how low they have fallen, that's like Nintendo putting Mario, Pokémon and Zelda on PS6. Gamepass has dried up their actual game sales, created a load of lay offs and closures, price increases multiple times and forced them to become a third party publisher who gets other companies to make their consoles (rog ally). So for Nintendo's sake I hope they stay well clear of the gamepass model.
What's the difference between console game of the year and ultimate game of the year? From what I can see all those nominated for ultimate are on consoles.
Hopefully Donkey Kong wins, I had two games that were above it personally but they haven't been nominated. Can't say Mario Kart deserves to win over those other nominees.
Loved Age of Calamity so I'm definitely getting this day one, these games have improved massively over the first Hyrule Warriors.
We need more of these musou games, Persona 5 Strikers, Dragon Quest Heroes, Fate Samurai/Remnant and Fire Emblem Three Hopes were all quality games. The Trails and Final Fantasy series need to be done next.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant I can only assume it's to persuade those who weren't/aren't into the spin offs, by telling them it's mainline they are more inclined to buy it.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant For most people the "mainline" games are the new generation games. So the last mainline games were Violet/Scarlet. You usually know if it's mainline by if the anime follows the games setting or not, and this Legends game won't be getting any TV show coverage, but the next mainline game will. These spin offs also include experimental gameplay mechanics whereas the mainline games stick with the usual turn based strategic formula.
So you're not at fault for not thinking this was a mainline game at all.
@Switching I'm expecting the DLC to add some substantial content. Violet/Scarlet DLC was £31 for two sets of content that included two big open areas with new Pokémon, stories, characters and new features. This games DLC is just one standalone piece of content and priced at £25 so id expect a lot of new Areas and Mega Evolutions to be included.
@LightSpirit Seems like such an easy cheap port to do as well, the game is complete just needs dubbing, I'd even take just a subbed version at this point.

Re: Shuten Order - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Out Now, Includes Paid Upgrade For Switch Owners
So the Switch 1 version is £39.99, the Switch 2 version is £47.28 and the upgrade pack £2.29. Why not just price the Switch 2 version at £42.28.

@OwenGamer22 Yet Final Fantasy 7 Remake got nominations and even won a few.
Re: The Game Awards Nominees Announced, Donkey Kong Bananza Up For GOTY
Wow no nominations whatsoever for Trails in the Sky Remake, what a joke.
My vote is definitely going towards Donkey Kong.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)
On PS5 i will be playing Borderlands 4, TLOU 2 Remastered and Digimon Story Time Stranger
On the Switch 2 it's more Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, Pokémon Legends Z-A and the Kirby Air Riders Global Test.
Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
So a mixed bag then, probably be sitting around the high 70s on metacritic which for me personally is fine and il be there day one still.
Re: Pokémon Pokopia Reveals "Peculiar" New Forms In Extended 10-Minute Trailer
My interest shot up once I found out it's a GKC release, I will continue supporting them to show Nintendo it's fine and a non issue.

@Jhena But this new one launched on a console thats less than 6 months old. Age of Calamity launched over 3 years into the Switch life cycle.

Another nothing burger, the game will sell great and I will be there day one enjoying the game.

Let's be honest, it being a GKC release will make no difference at all to its sales and Nintendo know this.
