Super happy about the cross play support as I can play the PS5 version whilst the misses can play the Switch version.
But, what an absolute joke that it's now confirmed to be digital only and more expensive for Switch players, what a way to stab your original loyal fans in the back.
For me personally it doesn't matter as I will still be getting one day one, the games and inner specs are more important than the screen especially when I play most of my games docked. If it does have an OLED then of course that will be great but if they have a cheaper LCD model at launch along with an OLED model then I will go for the LCD.
On PS5 i will be starting Trails Through Daybreak 2 which I was lucky to get early. I will also be continuing with Dragon Quest 3 HD, just got the Echo Flute so now I can get another orb. I may start the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta although I know it's a game I'm getting either way so maybe il leave it.
On the Switch I've got the last boss to do in Mario and Luigi Brothership, and then it's on to the first Fire Emblem Warriors. I've also re downlaoded Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and bought the booster pass, going to have a marathon of doing every one of the 98 tracks, going to take multiple days though 😅.
If it is brought back then I will be turning it off straight away, I don't mind seeing friends and family messages but with the way social media has become I can already tell what kind of messages we will be bombarded with.
Had my copy come early yesterday so I will be starting that this weekend, the tiny text shouldn't be an issue as il be playing on PS5 but sad to see the action combat hasn't improved.
I would like a proper battle pass style reward system for the online node. I've tried getting into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a few times but the online doesn't seem rewarding enough, just a points system that doesn't mean anything in the long run. A pass like the one included in Splatoon 3 though would make me want to play it more.
I wonder if this game will support cross play? If so I will get the PS5 version whilst the misses has the Switch version and we can play co op. If not I think il just get the PS5 version as it will look and perform better.
This multiplatform tactic is just a ploy to me. Make their games available on Nintendo/Playstation to build up a fan base for those games and then next generation make future games exclusive to Xbox again to persuade those fans to get an Xbox.
@Sam_ATLUS I've played pretty much everything I want from the current list, I may trade in my physical copy of Mario Party Jamboree and get the digital version instead from the Vouchers. Or I'm tempted to just save a voucher and see what Nintendo release later this year and there's always the chance that these vouchers will be redeemable for Switch 2 games as well.
@JohnnyMind Just had a quick look and there's games not made by Nintendo on there like Bayonetta, Live a Live, DC super hero girls, Dragon Quest 11s, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Astral Chain and Dragon Quest Builders. So hopefully it's possible 🤞
I was hoping they would announce something else for April so I could get it along with this with the two for £84 vouchers. What's the chances of Fantasy Life being available with the vouchers?
It's a close one but I think odyssey is better but also it's game design is different with large open world segments compared to Astro Bots linear level based design. It's more comparable to 3D world in which I'd say Astro Bot is much much better than that.
My money is on July, I don't know how it compares to the rest of the world but in the UK that is school holiday time and gaming will be in high demand during that time. Pretty sure it's the same for America and Japan with July breaks.
It surely can't cost more than the PS5, so anything above £450 would be outrageous and I would definitely not be buying one at launch. I think £400 is the most I'd go right now depending on the launch games.
If anything the leaks ruined the least interesting part about the Switch 2 so it's no biggie for me. What's under that exterior, the features and the games are what's most important. So hopefully Nintendo get ahead of any serious leaks before April 2nd.
Well technically it was revealed weeks ago with the leaks so nothing surprised me today. I'm more looking forward to seeing the games and the home UI, so April can't come soon enough.
If you're going to stop online services and close down the online store then you can't complain, this is why I fully support Pretendo and the 3DS Hshop etc.
As someone who owns a PS5 im not interested in ports of old games, I want to see the exclusives. Shame Square Enix aren't doing exclusives anymore which means no more Harvestella, Bravely Default and smaller titles that Nintendo took a chance on.
No games at all? Tbh it's the launch games I'm looking forward to the most and are what will persuade me to get the system day one or not. It's design is pretty much going to be atleast 95% the same as the Switch 1.
The fact they sent lawyers means there's a chance the genki reveals are correct.
Also the leaker of the PS5 Pro and Nintendo Alarm release dates has posted Nintendo will announce the Switch 2 on January 17th with a March 3rd release date, fingers crossed that's true.
You can also guarantee it will launch with a stellar line up of third party games showcasing what the console can handle. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is rumoured to be coming to Switch 2, Metaphor Re Fantazio should also be compatible as its on PS4, Bethesda are also rumoured to be releasing some games on the Switch 2 so maybe the new Doom or Oblivion Remaster. I have a feeling this will be Nintendo's strongest ever launch line up for a new console.
There's a new Monster Hunter, Ghost of Yotei and a certain game called GTA 6 coming this year that will shift millions of PS5 consoles on it own.
With the Switch 2 it all depends when it releases, what the launch games are and most importantly how much stock Nintendo have for this year. It can't outsell the PS5 if it hasn't got the stock to do so.
I thinks it's now down to letting some games cook a little longer and once they are close to being done they will announce the Switch 2. No point announcing a new console with no release exclusives.
For me I currently rent 50% of the games I play through the year, 25% are bought new physically and 25% are digital games that were on a sale. I do not buy digital copies on day one as they are £10-£15 more expensive than a physical copy which I can get most my money back by reselling on ebay once I'm done.
So if there was an all digital Playstation that would mean I play less games and I spend less money on Playstation and spend more money and time on Nintendo (who respect physical media too much to ditch it).
@Serpenterror Even worst if the magnetic wave lose its magnetism over time then you'll be stuck with loose joycons
Is that possible? If so it seems like an obvious design flaw that Nintendo shouldn't have overlooked. Its either the magnets on the joy con's lose strength or worst case scenario the magnets on the console lose strength which to me is a deal breaker.
@johnedwin No one ever expected they would be, not even steam deck can run PS5 games as well as the PS5 can. For an handheld to run like that you're looking at a £1000 device and even then it would have to be bulky as hell and probably have an hours battery life at most.
When making an handheld compromises have to be made.
On PS5 i will be continuing with Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, it's been great so far but boy it's an hard game, that easy mode is starting to look enticing 😅. I will also be playing some more Marvel Rivals and HellDivers 2.
On Switch I'm hoping to complete Mario and Luigi Brothership this weekend and then move onto either Bravely Default 2 or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, although I'm leaning towards the former.
On Meta Quest I've just started Moss and thoroughly enjoying it so far, such a charming and intriguing game.
Finally on my Portal I will be playing some more Monster Hunter Rise, just started the Sunbreak DLC with the misses and quite underwhelmed so far as it's just the same monsters from the base game. I will also be playing some more Sackboys Big Adventure but I've hit a snag as I'm on a level that uses motion controls and it's quite impossible to do on the portal.

Re: Talking Point: Which 'Tales' Game Will Come To Switch Next?
If Arise makes it over then let me give you a tip, do not buy the DLC.
Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?
I think a Cruise Ship would suit it best, but also a Spooky Village or Theme Park would also be just as good.

I hope it's just an optional feature for certain games and not a forced feature for some of their first party line up.
Re: Switch's Falling Sales Aren't Entirely Down To Switch 2 Hype, Says Furukawa
@MrCarlos46 Depends when the Switch 2 comes out, these games might release before the Switch especially if it's got an holiday release.
Re: Switch's Falling Sales Aren't Entirely Down To Switch 2 Hype, Says Furukawa
As long as theres great new software the sales will continue to be strong. But so far this year we've had an old port (DK) and the next release (XCX) is also an old port, but once Pokémon Legends ZA and Metroid 4 come out then the sales will pick up again.
Re: Nintendo Taking "All Possible Measures" To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers
I have mine pre ordered already with Shopto (UK). You definitely have to get in there early with consoles going forward. Scalpers are increasing year by year and on more products as well but Consoles and Pokémon cards seem to be the main focus.
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
Metroid, Pokémon, Xenoblade and a new Console in the same year, it may not be a lot but to me it's one heck of a year as it's all day one stuff I'm mega looking forward to. Throw in the new Fantasy Life, Hundred Line Last Defence Academy, new Professor Layton and Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma and this year is looking Fantastic.
Re: Rumour: Switch 2 Game Cases Might Take Up More Space On Your Shelf
A lot more space for third party devs to store a digital code in.

7, Splatoon 3

Re: Round Up: 'Switch 2' Renders Suggest A Sleek, Classy Successor
@OldGamer999 We Know Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends ZA are launching this year so I'd wager atleast one of those will be launching on the Switch 2 on release day as well but with better performance and maybe 4k. Other than that a 3D Mario is a given and possibly Mario Kart but I doubt they will launch with two Mario games.
You can also guarantee it will launch with a stellar line up of third party games showcasing what the console can handle.
