Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (5th October)

TheExile285

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Just completed the Hyrule Castle dungeon. It feels like the game has opened up more so I'm gonna do some exploring and look for sidequests before I tackle the next objective. So far, it's been a pleasant experience and the difficulty is just right for me.

Trials of Mana (Remake) - Right at the beginning of Chapter III so it's time to head to Snow Hamlet Alrant. I would like to progress enough to get the second job change but I don't think I'll make that far this weekend.[/strong]

Final Fantasy IX - Made it to Dark City Treno with Dagger, Steiner and Marcus. Curious to see how this segment of the story goes and how long until they get reunited with the main party.

Re: Japanese Charts: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Trounces The Competition

TheExile285

Congrats to Zelda!

@Ryu_Niiyama Personally, I think I'm just gonna play the Trails in the Sky First Chapter remake (and the remake of its sequel if it gets one) and maybe the Daybreak trilogy and leave it at that. I just can't bothered or interested to play every game in chronological order. It'd be like if every new Final Fantasy game was a sequel to the previous one. At least the Ys games can be played in whatever order you want.

Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom?

TheExile285

I straight up don't notice it in EoW. I also played A Link's Awakening for the first time recently....and same for that? There is that one swap area by the second dungeon entrance that causes some dips but otherwise, I can't tell most of the time.

That said, hopefully they release a performance patch or something so people can just enjoy the game for it is.

Re: Gallery: Here's The Switch Lite Hyrule Edition In All Its Zelda-Themed Beauty

TheExile285

@Pillowpants If you have at least the basic NSO subscription, you can transfer the save data between devices with that.

That said, the problem is whichever system isn't the primary console will require a network connection when playing digital games AND games that have DLC (free or paid, unfortunately) loaded on them.

So it sounds like would you need to make the Lite your primary console and the docked Switch the secondary.

I already have a TOTK OLED but decided to grab one of these anyway. Glad I did because it's a really sleek device with a pretty design. Didn't compare the exact weights but it seemed about as light as a Vita slime which is crazy to me.

While there is no beating the OLED display for me, I got my Lite loaded with a bunch physical games I own that don't have any DLC so I can keep everything on one account for both devices. Will probably use this mainly for when I need to travel light.

Re: Nintendo's Xenoblade Chronicles Dev Monolith Soft Is Now 25 Years Old

TheExile285

@Anti-Matter 5 (not counting DLCs)

Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier
Project X Zone
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Excellent games.

I also have the Baten Kaitos re-release so that’s 2 more when I get around to those. I bought a used Wii U for Xenoblade Chronicles X about two years but would absolutely buy it again with a Switch port or Switch successor port. I’d also try out the Xenosaga games if those got a re-release.

If you include their support games, my list doubles.

Re: Upcoming Sea Of Stars Free Update Adds Local Co-Op, New Combat, Cinematics And More

TheExile285

I played this for awhile when it came out and despite the lighter than expected story, (why did they make the two main characters borderline silent protagonists? 😭) I enjoyed it a lot. The combat, exploration and music did not disappoint. But life happened and I didn't get a chance to finish it.

I had been thinking about if I should start over when I have the chance and based on this update, it seems like that would be the best route to take. I'm curious to see what the new prologue looks like and how the combat adjustments affect the flow of the game.

Re: Feature: Here's 10 Games We Played At TGS 2024 Coming To Switch

TheExile285

There's a lot of stuff here that I'm interested in.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - Keeping my eye on how this turns out. I wasn't a fan of the original Fantasy Life on 3DS but my tastes have changed a lot since then and the new game seems neat.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension - This continues to look really nice and I'll probably be playing it exclusively in handheld to take advantage of the OLED display. One addition that I was happy to see over the Apple Arcade version was voice acting.

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road - Interested in this but haven't been following it too closely. The Switch beta from a couple months ago sold me on the gameplay so I'll be more invested once the release date gets closer.

Fairy Tail 2 - Still surprised this is a thing but I'm glad it is. I think this game will benefit from having a lot of characters and side content outside of the story so hopefully they accomplish that. Personally, I thought the Switch port of first Fairy Tail game was bad but KT has put out a lot more optimized ports since then so here's hoping this one is better.

Sonic X Shadow Generations - Not much to say aside from this looks great and I am very interested to play as someone who didn't play the original Generations and is a big fan of Shadow. My only concern is performance since Sonic games are hit or miss on the system. Locked or consistent framerate and decent resolution in handheld and docked are all that I ask.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake - This is the game on the list that I am most excited for. Never played the original but all the new additions and QoLs are sounding great! Another game I'll be playing mostly in handheld mode.

So yeah, DQIII HD-2D, FANTASIAN Neo Dimension and Sonic got my vote.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (28th September)

TheExile285

Echoes of Wisdom is the big one for me. So far, I'm at the Gerudo Desert and working on that quest line. The game is really charming and just nice to play around in. Sometimes I have to remember I have certain Echoes with certain abilities because there's already been so many to get.

Outside on that, continuing my new playthrough of Trials of Mana. I got the first job change for my party (Duran/Angela/Reisz) and went dull dark alignment. Really looking forward to getting to the postgame this time as I never got around to that with my first playthrough in 2020. I am also appreciating how much of a good game this is as a remake and just in general.

Lastly, I'm gonna put some more time into Final Fantasy IX. Just reached Disk 2 and curious to see where the story goes from here. Currently a big fan of all the currently playable characters and how they are developing.

For non-Switch, I may try and get some playtime in FFXIV with post-Dawntrail stuff and Lolipop Chainsaw RePop on PC. Switch is gonna priority for me this weekend tho.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st September)

TheExile285

For some reason, I decided to go back to the Trials of Mana remake for the first time since I beat it in 2020. Back then, I only did one route (Duran/Angela/Riesz) so I decided to start over and hopefully I'll get through all three routes this time.

I'm also going to try and play more Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy IX and Atelier Ryza 1 as well. I was hoping to have Link's Awakening completed before Echoes of Wisdom came out but that might not happen. (I needed a break after the hookshot dungeon 😅)

Re: Sony's PlayStation Vita Exclusive Freedom Wars Is Getting Remastered For Switch

TheExile285

Never thought I’d see this again and definitely not on a non-Sony platform. I played this a lot on Vita and will absolutely pick it up again on Switch! It looks like they made adjustments to the crafting system too which is great! (It was tedious in the original game)

I’ll deal with 30 fps but I really hope they didn’t mess up the resolution. The switch should be able to handle the game at 720p in handheld mode.

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Dominates As PS5 Price Hike Kills Momentum

TheExile285

Sony doesn't really have anyone to blame but themselves. How many times has the PS5 had a price hike in Japan? Hopefully Astrobot sells well worldwide.

Anyway, I hope Nintendo does a good job with Switch 2's launch titles and price. Would be a shame to see a repeat of the PSP vs PSVita situation in Japan where it takes devs forever to switch over to the new system because the old system continues to sell well. (It's unlikely but still)

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th September (North America)

TheExile285

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is gonna be a buy for me but sometime later. Also, still just bummed that Switch missed out on it's chance for MvC3 since it could easily run the game.

The Plucky Squire looks great. I'm just waiting for Switch specific reviews and gameplay footage before pulling the trigger on a pre-order of the physical edition.

Lastly, I am interested in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP since I never played the original but skipping the physical release due to it being LRG and waiting to see what Switch performance looks like before I consider grabbing it from the eShop.

Re: Splatoon 3's 'Grand Festival' Splatfest Kicks Off Tomorrow, Which Team Gets Your Vote?

TheExile285

@sonicbooming The game has a lot of content but this will be the last major Splatfest. That said, they may do additional Splatfests afterwards but it'll probably be intermittent rather than every other month.

The game also has a catalog feature that's basically a free, ingame battle pass that gives you some cosmetics and emotes and that just reset from when the game originally launched.

Ultimately, jumping in now wouldn't be bad. I would just try and play this weekend so you can experience the Grand Festival event before it ends.
