I finished Rusted Moss two days ago (fantastic metroidvania, I highly recommend it) so now I'm playing World of Goo which is pretty good but it's not blowing me away, I'm halfway through so I might be able to finish it this weekend and if so I'll probably start Arranger, I also went back to play more Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble because they released a patch yesterday that fixed the 50hz unity bug and the game is so much smoother now, still has some frame drops in a few levels (the ones with portals in particular) but it's still a major improvement and now I can recommend the game with no strings attached, if you've been on the fence with the game because of the 50hz bug then now is a great time to jump in
Have a good weekend everyone
If there is one problem I had with Blasphemous 2 is that the enemy variety was pretty low, most of the enemies you fought in late game were just stronger versions of those you fought during the early game so if this is DLC then I'm hoping it addresses that Still love the game though and would gladly replay it if there is DLC/big update coming
@ottoecamn they patched it twice but I don't know how much those patches actually fixed, from what I've heard it's still kinda rough and even if they fixed the most egregious issues that doesn't mean that the next remaster will be free of those issues, Bamco will have an uphill battle trying to sell people on this no matter what because hearing "the last remaster was really bad at launch and it took them months to get it to an OK state" doesn't inspire confidence that this remaster will be any good
I like both but I slightly prefer the Japan cover so that gets my vote I'm surprised this game is not on NSO yet, the first game and Demon's Crest are so I wonder why this hasn't made it's way there yet
I actually started Rusted Moss this time instead of saying I'll do it and then never do, it takes some time getting used to the bungee-rope-like grapple but it's very fun so far
I also picked up Satryn DX, very fun endless twin-stick shooter
Got some Groove Coaster DLC on sale so I'll also be playing that
Have a good weekend everyone
I need to finish the first one but what I've played of it was pretty fun so I'm definitely interested in the sequel Btw there is a small error in the article, when you click on the River City Saga: Three Kingdoms link it takes you to the River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next page and not the first game
I'm ok with this, august is packed with stuff I want to play as is, I can wait still very excited for this, really liked the first game and the steam next fest demo of this one was really fun
@SillyG the only game I can kinda see what you mean with this complaint is the first Theatrhythm but Curtain Call and especially Final Bar Line offer more than enough content in their base versions so I don't see how they're "half a game" (seriously, Final Bar Line has 385 songs in the base version, how is that "half a game"?) and if the theoretical Nintendo Theatrhythm would offer similar amount of content then I wouldn't see a problem with that having a bunch of DLC packs
I haven't played the remakes of the first two games in this series yet, maybe at some point this year but it's not on my list priorities, but I am very happy for the fans of these games I'm just glad that it's not a Bloober Team game, that would've been the worst outcome
huh
never expected this game to leave Apple Arcade exclusivity but I'm glad it did
not the same developer but it would be neat if Super Leap Day also came to the Switch
I'm 100% sure that it's just a intro thing and people who are hoping that it's 50/50 split or "bad marketing" are just coping
It'd be neat if there was an unlockable mode where you play as Link the entire time but I don't see it happening
I finished replaying SteamWorld Heist (still a fantastic game, can't wait for the sequel) and after that I wanted to start Rusted Moss but I got a free copy of Paper Mario: The Origami King so I decided to give that game a shot and...
Ok I'm gonna start with positives first, I really like exploring the environments and finding hidden collectibles (except hidden blocks I don't like those), I don't care for the super overt paper aesthetic but it is very well done and the soundtrack is great
But the story is just kind of whatever and the writing is nowhere near as good as people say it is, and the combat is really bad, it genuinely ruins the whole game for me, you could remove it and the game would've been so much better, regular enemies are super easy to defeat and are really boring to fight so I try to avoid fighting them as much as possible, and boss fights are so off difficulty-wise, sometimes they pretty easy to defeat and sometimes they're dumb trial and error fights that are pretty frustrating
So I'm very mixed on it overall, I'll still try and finish it because I enjoy the exploration enough but it will definitely be a one and done game for me
That will be pretty much the only thing I play this weekend so I can get it done as soon as possible
Have a good weekend everyone
I bet that "certain feature" they're talking about is some sort of local multiplayer although I'm not sure how that would work, this seems like the kind of game where you'd want everyone to have their own screen so sharing the screen wouldn't work, I also don't see split-screen working all that well either but I guess since everyone is so hung-up on "co-op in TMNT games needs to be local" they figured they have to do something
anyway I hope the game is good, it looks pretty fun
I'm currently in the middle of replaying SteamWorld Heist in preparation for the sequel next month, after that I'll either start Rusted Moss or Afterimage (the latter I'll be playing on PC though, I heard the Switch version at launch had performance issues and I don't know if they patched that version so I'd rather not risk it)
@SuperBro64 both Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99 have (well, in the case of Pac-Man 99 it's "had") offline modes tho (as DLC mind you but still) so there is no reason for the devs to not add some sort of offline mode to this game
My current top 5 games of the year so far are:
1. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
2. Animal Well
3. Pepper Grinder
4. Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble
5. Balatro
Honorable mention goes to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it's a remake that doesn't add any significant new content so I can't justify putting it on the list but it is amazing and if it was a new game then it'd be in the top 3 easily
I got Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble day one and have been playing it since and I'm loving it, this is the most fun I've had with this series since the Gamecube games, even the multiplayer is much more fun than described in the NL review, tho I still won't be playing it as much as the single-player
I also picked up TOEM on sale so I'll make some time for it tomorrow
visually this game doesn't seem to be doing anything beyond what Quest did and that ran smoothly and looked great on Switch so I'm not too worried about performance on Switch
so they didn't do anything with the boss fights? I was hoping they would at least make those better because they're pretty bad and are major low points of a game I otherwise really enjoy
I'm of the opinion that the multiplayer modes and minigames in Monkey Ball (1 and 2 in particular) were always super overrated, like they're fun but they're not close to being on the same level of fun as the single-player for me so if that part is great then this will probably end up being at least an 8 for me
@anoyonmus idk if this is a remaster of the wii version with 3ds content backported or if it's just the 3ds version remastered, the latter would probably be easier to do but there isn't much to suggest if it's one way or the other
@DwaynesGames that is also a good point, it wouldn't make much sense to release this game in any of the remaining months this year because they're already packed with, let's face it, much cooler stuff, and I say that as someone who is excited for this
@anoyonmus it's because that port isn't 100% done yet, if you look closely at the trailer there are some odd visual quirks here and there plus the frame rate isn't perfectly locked at 60 yet (which is normal for pre-release builds, Super Mario Bros Wonder and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe also had some frame rate drops in their reveal trailers) so there is still some work to be done there
that DKC Returns HD file size is bigger than I expected but this is just an estimated file size, iirc before Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury released the estimated file size was 5gb but the final version turned out to be 2.8gb so hopefully similar thing will happen with DKCR HD
I'll be replaying Metroid: Zero Mission this weekend, maybe I'll also play some Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania in preperation for Banana Rumble which releases on tuesday
I didn't think we would get a new Mario & Luigi game on the Switch but I'm so happy to be wrong, it's my favorite Mario RPG series and Superstar Saga is one of my favorite games of all time, so happy to see this series back And the new game looks incredible, whoever is making this nailed the art style This and Prime 4 are tied for my favorite announcements of this Direct
ugh, another spin-off, and this one is just a port of a garbage mobile game at least give us ports of 6 and 7 (XX version in particular) so that we have the entire series on Switch
I was hoping for a "best of both worlds" kind of port of this game, 3DS content and controls with Wii visuals and frame rate so the fact we're actually getting this makes me very happy

if this is real then I'm very curious about how Bamco handled this one with how bad Tales of Symphonia remaster was, especially on Switch
