I thought it was decent, typical Partner Showcase
Couple of games I'm really interested in and the rest that aren't for me, that's how it is with every showcase of only third party stuff so I'm not sure what makes this one so much worse than the previous ones
"Plus, if you already own Yakuza Kiwami on Switch, you'll be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 version at a discounted price." Where does this info come from?
@Serpenterror it's not Nintendo's fault that 3rd party devs are cheap, if key cards didn't exist then they would just do codes in boxes or use the smallest cartridges and have big mandatory downloads anyway
@Yalloo I think you meant to say AoC at the end there instead of DE and idk, if it gets a Switch 2 update that lets it run at 60 fps then I might give it another shot but otherwise I'll just stick to Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition
I really hope I'll like this game better than Age of Calamity, I can't put my finger on why but that game to me felt worse to play than the original Hyrule Warriors and it wasn't just because of the performance, so hopefully Age of Imprisonment fixes that issue I had
@Bunkerneath regular Nintendo Directs are announced a day before, so if there was one on Thursday (either this or next week) then it would be announced on Wednesday
@Aventurier those lists haven't been updated since june 5th, there are multiple games on there that have since been made compatible but are still listed as not working, so it's not an accurate source of info for that
@Flapflop given everything that the developers said about the technical problems with this and Mario Kart World when they were still Switch 1 games it's guaranteed that they would run like absolute dogs*** there, so no, a dual release was not possible
couple more Switch 1 games I tested that run better on Switch 2: Nine Sols Bugsnax Both Grapple Dog games Archvale TMNT: Splintered Fate Have a Nice Death Lonely Mountains: Downhill Slime-San Terror of Hemasaurus Cursed to Golf Wizard of Legend Streets of Rogue Gravity Circuit Blade Chimera Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- WARRIORS: Abyss
I would really prefer the Nightdive remaster of Forsaken to be ported to Switch (which I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet, why is Xbox the only console that has it?) but I guess I'll take the N64 version
I'm fine with them not working on a sequel, I love Dredge but it doesn't feel like a game that needs a part 2, would love a new game with a similar vibe though
@Jeff there is no native Switch 2 version right now but the eshop page says that the Switch 1 version is compatible with Switch 2, hopefully that doesn't change before launch
it would be nice if it also had a 120 FPS mode at 1080p (or maybe even 1440p)
I'm really interested in this game, it's such a weird idea but from reading interviews about it the devs seem really passionate so I'm very curious how it turned out
I always find hard modes added after launch to games that weren't difficult in the slightest to be more annoying and frustrating than actually challenging in a satisfying way, so if I had the game I probably wouldn't even bother with it but who knows, maybe they implemented it in a way that works well
@cedarhyped "Is this the first free Switch 2 upgrade that wasn’t a launch-day update?" Nope, Splatoon 3 was first "I’m curious what they’ll actually improve" Frame rate for one, on Switch 1 it ran at 30 FPS which is fine but 60 would be preferable, plus because it was 720p in handheld on Switch 1 that means it looks blurry on Switch 2's screen so that could use an improvement
@PinderSchloss I wouldn't count that game out (and other Xenoblade games) for a Switch 2 patch yet, they can easily announce that on a random day through the Nintendo Today app like they did with Splatoon 3 I imagine the reason it hasn't happened yet is because Monolith was too busy with other stuff
oh hell yeah I tried playing it on Switch 2 for an hour or so and it ran a bit smoother (on Switch 1 it had drops below 30 in certain areas) and the load times were better but I would love a 60 FPS update with some visual improvements
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series got a good boost, both games there targeted 60 FPS on Switch 1 but never hit it, now they both run smooth with no frame drops Enter the Gungeon also now runs at a solid 60 FPS in the "Beauty" mode
@joeyflannel they both now run at a stable 30 FPS and the load times are way shorter, Spyro even looks a bit sharper thanks to it hitting it's resolution cap more consistently than on Switch 1, there is more grass too if that matters to you (I don't how or why but there is more grass on Switch 2)
I am willing to give this a shot, the combat looks kinda fun and I actually don't mind the visuals, I don't think they look great but they don't look awful either imo
I'm surprised there is no Switch 2 version given that ArcSys has devkits so I'm hoping that it at least has an option to uncap the framerate
@Zealv2 same here, the worst part about that is that they used it just for leaf and tree textures, like bro just go outside and take a picture of some trees and leaves and digitize them or look up some free to use asset libraries
@BlaizeV "There are rumours that internally Nintendo don't consider this game Mario Kart 9" that's dumb as hell and quickly disproven if you bother to read the Ask the Developer article about the game, there they said that if the game was just a standard Mario Kart game with no open world aspect then they would've just called it Mario Kart 9, nowhere do they say that the open world aspect turned it into a spinoff
ArcSys was hacked not too long ago and a bunch of documents leaked and one of them had info about a Switch 1 and 2 exclusive game they wanted to release at the launch of Switch 2 but couldn't for whatever reason so maybe we will see it here potentially but I'm still keeping my expectations low
@SwagaliciousJohnson the NPC drivers were already obstacles in the game so they were way easier to add than someone like Link or Funky Kong or w/e, if the NPC drivers weren't added then you'd just have less characters
tbh until I heard about it I didn't notice any blurring and even now that I noticed it when really looking for it I still think this screen is way better than the one on the OG Switch, I don't know what the DF guy is on about, it's not as good as OLED but I wasn't expecting it to be so that's fine
Last time they announced the Onimisha 2 remaster so that tells me that they actually can announce stuff on these so maybe we will get some Switch 2 announcements but I'm still not expecting anything just so I don't get disappointed
for Grand Prix cups sure but absolutely not for Knockout Tour, given how chaotic it is it's extremely difficult to place in 1st on all checkpoints and I feel like they should be some room for error in that mode like maybe let the player place below 1st place once or twice, that would make it more manageable
@N00BiSH locked 60 FPS on Switch 2, the only issue I noticed is that sometimes the afterimage effect is not showing up when doing the Atomic Bomb (the move where Anton slams down to the ground with his face)

Terror of Hemasaurus
Cursed to Golf

@Spider-Kev they did do that in 8 Deluxe, what are you talking about?
