Re: 12 Switch Games Are Getting Free Switch 2 Upgrades, Here's What You Can Expect

@Koda1000 in a developer interview when they were talking about backwards compatibility with Switch 1 games they said that certain games ran better on Switch 2 and by "certain" I'm sure they're talking about games that had frame rate issues and/or used dynamic resolution so those will most likely just hit their caps consistently, and in the direct they showed Yoshi's Crafted World loading twice as fast on Switch 2 vs Switch 1 and that game isn't getting any sort of upgrade so that just confirms that all Switch 1 games will load faster on Switch 2
These updates just seem like they're boosting resolution and frame rate beyond the caps these games had, they're saying that ARMS will run smoother "even when playing with 3 or more players" so that to me says that it won't drop to 30 FPS anymore no matter the number of players in split-screen multiplayer

dang it, I was hoping Captain Toad would get mouse controls, it would make playing in docked mode better because you wouldn't have to deal with gyro cursor drifting and having to reset it every 5 minutes
also it's weird that NSMBU is not getting GameShare support, I thought that's what this update was gonna add but it's just getting visual upgrade which it doesn't need nor does it help with how ugly NSMB artstyle is

Re: Talking Point: Are You Ghosting Switch 1 To Save Yourself For Switch 2?

Sylamp

it's my primary game system so I'm still playing it but I'm trying to avoid any big game purchases and just sticking to the games I already have for it, the only game coming out soon that I want to pick up is Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo which I played the demo of and really liked so that will be my final game for Switch 1

Re: Opinion: Nintendo's Forgotten The Game With The Most 'Switch 2 Edition' Potential

Sylamp

I haven't played this game (or any Pikmin game for that matter) but some of my friends who did say that they were teasing some sort of snowy area in the marketing and then the game didn't have it so maybe that could be added for the Switch 2 Edition
I do think there will be more Switch 2 Editions later on and Pikmin 4 is a good candidate for that, Mario Maker 2 I'm not sure, I think Mario Maker 3 is a lot more likely

Re: Feature: The Long & Rainbow Road To 'Mario Kart World', From SNES To Switch 2

Sylamp

I really, really hate Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, yeah yeah "they're the first few games in the series, they were trying things out and deserve some respect" yada yada, I've heard many times before and quite frankly I don't care
These games just do not hold up at all, they both control terribly, the collision and physics are jank as hell and most of the tracks are not good, the N64 Rainbow Road deserves a special mention for being quite possibly the most boring track in the series
It is so long with only two Chain Chomps to keep you from falling asleep and the whole track has guardrails so there is no challenge in it which is pathetic for the last track of the game and for a track archetype that is known for being difficult, the only thing that are good about it are the visuals and the music but those can't save it, thank god for the Mario Kart 8 remake making something good out of it because the original is quite easily the worst Rainbow Road imo
It might be a hot take but Super Circuit is the most bearable of these 3, while I don't like it all that much I think it controls better than SMK, they toned down the CPU cheating (another reason SMK and 64 are so miserable to play) and it has some fun and original track ideas

Re: Monster Boy's 120fps Update Could Come To Switch 2

@RudyC3 "...if it's not gonna cost you anything, why do you have to ask if you should do it, just do it!"
That's assuming that they're not going to do just do it anyway and this is just a way to drum up attention, plus I'd like to think that they know that people wouldn't like it if they charged for something that was free for PlayStation and Xbox users
"And by the way PS5 upgrades of PS4 games were not always free. "
Yeah but I'm not talking about them in general, I'm talking about this game specifically

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (19th April)

Sylamp

I played through Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Ultimate Edition on my PC recently and I absolutely hated it so now I'll probably replay Aria of Sorrow or one of the DS-Vanias as a palate cleanser, I'll also be trying to make some progress in La-Mulana, from what people who played it told me I did about 70% of the game so I'm hoping I can get it done by the end of the month

Re: Talking Point: Which Switch Game Needs A 'Nintendo Switch 2 Edition' The Most?

Sylamp

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity really needs it imo, I have more issues with that game than just the performance and resolution but if they improve those then it would be a lot more enjoyable for me
But for the game I want to see enhanced on Switch 2 is Kirby and the Forgotten Land, it already looks and runs really good on Switch but seeing it run at 60 FPS with enemies that move at more than 10 FPS in the background would be amazing
