Don Matrick was facing criticism of the online only nature of Xbox One which had they stayed the course would have been incredible for physical collectors as they were going to have the best of physical and digital.

Physical games still needed online and downloads the vast majority of games anyway even on PS4! As it turned out to be a moot point.

Nintendo is making a sensible point, this new console is more expensive and if are not ready or able to upgrade the original Switch is still being supported.

Specialist retailers like GAME are the worst place for Nintendo! They are FAR better working with Argos, grocery stores and Smyths.

I got my pre-order from Argos where a normal consumer will go to. GAME is now buried at the back of Sports Direct and is nothing more that overpriced toys now.

I would hope as they get more real world data they can improve the game chat windows even further, because they looked rough!

When Stadia was a thing having a second window where you see the other player was a killer feature for Ghost Recon. I could imagine it being similar for open world games where your working together.

Because of the friend code system you can change your gamertag anytime you want.

You don’t want to make it too easy for people to be your “friend” on Switch. As it is you can become friends with someone you friended on Mario Run or Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. So it still VERY easy to make friends on switch.

Nintendo is likely looking to port of over one of the DS games and will bundle Wind Waker HD with it.

$80 for physical (even code in a box) BUT cheaper for digital.

Those new cartridges must cost allot to manufacture! I think it is a cost thing, because digital is getting bump, not as extreme.

I think the Switch 1 direct was a mistake! They should have Twitter dropped everything and put the games in the Switch 2 direct. Third parties could get a separate direct later.

I think it kinda disappointed and now the wind is out of people sails a bit.

Awesome! This makes me happy knowing Nintendo isn’t going to abandoned Alarmo.

I own an Alarmo. If you want a quirky Nintendo themed alarm clock it works brilliantly. The sounds and music do not annoy me or make me hate the games they are from.

It is expensive for what it is, but honestly I think in years to come it will be a sought after collectors piece.

Rewind to the end of 2017 and Mario Odyssey had just released and Nintendo released this, I think it would have sold like hot cakes! I just think the timing has put a damper on it.

@N00BiSH This is my first Mario and Luigi and so I tried the 3DS games and I prefer the Switch way for Luigi.

I understand people used to the old system prefer it, but I prefer the new method (although they should have given you options)

Let’s not forget Microsoft and Sony both have digital loyalty schemes. I doubt Nintendo will ditch all together, I think they will have new schemes that make sense.

Will there be an Animal Crossing New Horizons update to include Alarmo at the same time as they add AC to Alarmo?

Clearly Nintendo is not willing to pay more than $0.5 for a third party game to put on NSO, so I think there needs to be a hybrid system.

Let Nintendo stock up NSO with their first party games and rubbish NES roms which clearly have no license anymore, and let Capcom and Konami and others sell us retro games that can be added to NSO libraries.

I think for this generation instead of arcade collections and Arcade Archives, let us add these to NSO in a virtual arcade. Your Mii would walk around and interact with the cabinets. And so the players can purchase them like we do now but it would integrate into NSO.

I sure hope so this is my # 1. But do you want to play star fox joy-con mouse?

Back to 2017, waiting for the Switch and Mario Run comes out.

$400 is the sweet spot. This thing will be sold in vast quantities and at $500 only the hardcore will buy it.

Nintendo probably has no intention of lower the price in the future so they need to at what a grandma at Wallmart will pay for little Johnny’s Christmas.

EA had plenty of opportunity with Switch one but generally didn’t bother. I scratch my head and think of so many games that could have been made but EA just sat back.

It's going to be social media only. Nintendo is probably working flat out to do the April direct, I don't know they have the capacity to do one in Feb. I don't think they have enough Switch 1 games to announce to warrant a direct.

I didn't get in, but honestly I am happy to wait for the system in my house.

I don’t think Nintendo is going to sell 20 million to early adopters alone. Remember next April The Super Mario Movie 2 comes out. By then Florida, California and Japan will all have Super Nintendo World theme Parks.

Mario Kart 9 will be out and Nintendo is looking to hit the ground hard!

I don’t believe a price drop is in their plans. I think at least for the first few years they will have a cascading price strategy.

Maybe the new devs did the credits and the producer didn’t see it.

I think sales will be unaffected by the leaks, the real casualties of the leaks were the core Nintendo fans who love to be surprised and delighted by Nintendo reveals.

I don’t begrudge Nate the Hate but honestly it did hurt my enjoyment of the reveal.

New console, new theme parks, new movie in next year, I just wish I was able to stock back in 2015.
