This is the company that hates to talk about specs and instead has made a game where you test the frame rate!

I really hate to break it to physical collectors. If you want a shiny box on the shelf you get that. But like it is on disks on other consoles it won’t be all on the storage cart.

Going on a cruise and plan to take the dock, so tempted to buy this, but I also want just the unit case as well. Decisions decisions.

Ok so why isn’t this being talked about, Mario Odyssey is adding ONLINE co-op. Currently Cappy only works on same screen. Soon it will work on two systems with improved performance ONLINE.

I need my Switch for Labo and a second screen for all those secret Wii U games that are coming!

Ok, ok, ok. I have allot to say about this.

Nintendo in 2017 (I believe) release voice chat through the NSO app for selected games. And at the time it was pretty much all first party games that worked online. And Nintendo fans had a cow and moaned and moaned it was on the phone. The voice quality was awesome, the chat worked as expected and you could still use the chat while standing up and using the joy-cons. But as usual the gaming community just wanted Xbox Live Party chat while they t-rex with their controller.

Fast forward to 2025 - Nintendo releases GameChat ON DEVICE, 12 player voice chat with array microphone or wired/wireless headset. System wide works with all games. Everyone is like Meh. Why not just continue to use discord ON MY PHONE while I play.

Entire podcasts exist to MOCK the lack of voice chat on Nintendo's consoles.

I agree the choppy frame screen sharing is a bit weak, and the camera feels like Nintendo in the 2000's. But those are OPTIONAL. For the price of NSO you get proper system wide voice chat. And I can't tell you how big this will be for 3rd party gaming.

To be honest that is about what I expected. Kirby and Mario Party are offering straight up DLC for those games, of course they are going to cost extra. The only real question is will the graphical improvements be added if you don't upgrade to the DLC?

And while we are at it, if you laps your subscription to NSO + Expansion pack does your graphical upgrades for BOTW and TOTK go back to the original? Will the game visually downgrade or will you simply loose access to the Zelda Notes app?

Also - Will Nintendo be doing a Jamboree TV bundle with the Camera? It would make a ton of sense to bundle the two together.

We don't know what goes through the minds of Nintendo - but this HAD to be designed as a pack-in originally. And I think when they went to price the switch they couldn't go any higher than $450 so something had to go and it go cut from being a pack-in.

@Edd-O this large cartridges cost a fortune for Nintendo and publishers, trust me they will phase them out. Now they do have an out, the digital game cart, so physical but with download.

I am frankly surprised the Switch 2 even supports physical media still.

Digital is going to the future, and it is possible the Swifch 2 refresh ditches physical altogether.

@StewdaMegaManNerd Well the Switch 2 supposedly has given more resources to the UI and systems. I would imagine they are using MUCH better browser code than 2017 and more RAM allocated. Additionally they now have WIFI 6. So if their web apps still run like slideshows than Nintendo really needs to sit in the corner.

Yes the download sucks, but let's compare this to PS5 and Xbox - You buy the Blu-ray disk work of game, usually 10 minutes or more downloading to your HDD - then the day 1 patch which can be as big as the disk install.

This is the reality of AAA gaming. The file sizes are too large to use flash carts without large extra costs. This fact alone nearly sunk the N64 compared to Playstation which used CD's.

Don Matrick was facing criticism of the online only nature of Xbox One which had they stayed the course would have been incredible for physical collectors as they were going to have the best of physical and digital.

Physical games still needed online and downloads the vast majority of games anyway even on PS4! As it turned out to be a moot point.

Nintendo is making a sensible point, this new console is more expensive and if are not ready or able to upgrade the original Switch is still being supported.

My Nintendo Switch online lapsed slightly for the Black Friday deals and I didn’t get an email even though I have been a member since 2018 and spent thousands on the shop.

Specialist retailers like GAME are the worst place for Nintendo! They are FAR better working with Argos, grocery stores and Smyths.

I got my pre-order from Argos where a normal consumer will go to. GAME is now buried at the back of Sports Direct and is nothing more that overpriced toys now.

I would hope as they get more real world data they can improve the game chat windows even further, because they looked rough!

When Stadia was a thing having a second window where you see the other player was a killer feature for Ghost Recon. I could imagine it being similar for open world games where your working together.

Because of the friend code system you can change your gamertag anytime you want.

You don’t want to make it too easy for people to be your “friend” on Switch. As it is you can become friends with someone you friended on Mario Run or Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. So it still VERY easy to make friends on switch.

Nintendo is likely looking to port of over one of the DS games and will bundle Wind Waker HD with it.

$80 for physical (even code in a box) BUT cheaper for digital.

Those new cartridges must cost allot to manufacture! I think it is a cost thing, because digital is getting bump, not as extreme.
