@Magrane This is what we used to call an XBLA game. It was never going to come to an expensive cart to sell for $30. LRG is basically just created overpriced but fun physical collector editions.
If Nintendo put a music app on the Switch and put their vast sound collection on there and added it to the NSO Expansion Pak, I promise you it would explode with subscribers.
I literally think the reason they haven't done it is there is no sound producers free who they could give the job to. They won't carve out resources and time for it, no it would have to be a weekends and nights passion project from some senior sound person at Nintendo.
So my wife recently had a distant great aunt die and leave some thousands to her. And so we are planning a trip to America and I am trying to convince her California! But I wish they would built thr Florida Nintendo World first!
You know what, why doesn't Nintendo just take up pre-orders again and then ship them as soon as they come into stock.
I mean where at the 10 controllers they are selling coming from? A lost crate somewhere in China?? Surely they should be making millions of these and selling them worldwide with subscription bundles in stores.
Honestly I would give this one the Metroid Prime treatment. I would make a third person cyberpunk semi-open world to explore, do on foot combat and quest systems and then also have the epic races both on official tracks and in the streets.
If I was an EA investor I would be extremely concerned about the future of the company. Their core business is FIFA and Madden and those are in flux. Their shooters have all bombed and they didn't diversify by making more games. They have Respawn until they choke it to death like Bioware and Popcap and Maxis, etc.
EA may regret not investing onto the Switch given it is thr 5th best selling console of all time! Where is Classic Battlefront? Where are the Sims?
The Switch is the first Nintendo Console (not including wii u) since the N64 to not have a Sims game.
And yet these publishers keeping doing the same thing over and over chasing fads like NFT and loot boxes. They just want to be Sega and make gambling games.
Don't be fooled this is a high quality mobile game which is also coming to Switch. Same with Star Wars Hunters, that also is a high quality mobile game.
These will be free to play and have aggressive monetization practices.
Without any inside knowledge whatsoever here is my theory.
Nintendo announced allot of stuff would come to NSO and it made it sound like an Xbox Live or PSN type service. Instead we got a half baked app experience which only allows for certain Nintendo only games to use voice chat. No party chat, no messaging and servers that barely work.
Remember they delayed NSO until fall of 2018. It was on the backdrop of their terrible online service they announced NES games would come to switch. These were pretty much all first party owned and were already emulated for the NES Classic.
The was never meant to be a proper service of NES games, just to shut up critics of the online paywall.
Then they knew they needed more so they did SNES games. But note no new features really.
Then Nintendo made the Expansion Pak again no third party N64 games and some expansions with it, but at a much higher price.
They have no intention in ever offering a proper gamepass style service with NSO. It is just a way to make extra revenue while they spend virtually nothing on it. They finally upgraded their early 2000's online infrastructure but where is the upgrades to the online service?
Nintendo this generations knows they struck gold with Switch. And rather then the expensive gimmicks like StreetPass, Miiverse and other stuff they used to do, they decided to just make money and not spend money. Nintendo is in a pure cash mode.
We of course buy it because they keep the family jewels locked away (Gamecube, GBA, etc) until they find the right moment to sell it to us again.
It is the same for the Mario Kart Booster Course Pass. All of the tracks are ripped straight out of Mario Kart Tour. So they are making money on the tracks twice! Even the original tracks and remakes are meant for MK Tour. This is how come they are willing to make so many tracks, MK Tour loot boxes are paying for it. The booster course pass is just extra revenue for Nintendo.
I gonna be honest, those commercials/adverts hit the feels like those McDonald's ads do in the UK. I think they are perfect for those casuals in Japan. Look how clubhouse games 51 worldwide classics are still being shown off. What a perfect showcase for a fun family device that little kids and parents can play or teens or 20 somethings.
I think it was IGN did an article about the negatives of working for Nintendo and lack of advancement opportunities was top of the list. So I think people want to go higher need to leave Nintendo.
Given that casuals are the likely audience for Mario Party do you think they would even know if there was DLC for this game? Wouldn't it make sense to just release a new game every year or so?
"I'd still pick the SNES version if I could only have one F-Zero," - Damien McFerran
Well if you own the NSO Expanion Pak you don't need to choose. You get both games for one price. Let's hope someday the Gamecube and Gameboy versions comes.
I was hoping to go to Florida next year as I never been to Disney World only Disneyland California. But now I am wondering if I should go to California, it will be my only chance to see Nintendo World.
Even without a shortage the Switch is quickly saturating the market and it's getting long in the tooth. The economy is going to hell in most western nations so spending on entertainment is going to go down.
Nintendo knows this and that is why they now have theme parks and feature films coming out. Also they are probably making far more revenue per switch then they were with say the Wii or DS in game attach and digital subscriptions.
I think the Pokemon company are dumb as bricks. They put the dumb swirl mobile game on Switch and yet cannot put their widely successful card game which they actively spending money to develop on switch?
They may announce this later on but which genius is running their marketing and just ignores Nintendo.
Here is how I would do it. I would do it at the game awards and have Reggie come out on stage. People will assume it is related to something else and have him start talking and then some plant in the front row shouts, "hey reggie give us Mother 3." and then a pause, and he says, "ok".
Clearly someone at Activision got hit on the head, Cod used to be on anything from toasters to smart fridges every year. And then one day Nintendo makes a console that can run cod well with paid online and Activision says no???
