@Ganner Hey welcome back to the cool kids club now that you’re a certified Switch 2 member 😝! If it’s your cup of tea I’d highly recommend Cyberpunk 2077…it’s an excellent game to just get lost in and oodle all over its cool details.
Also I was pretty choked with how quickly the Oilers disposed of the Vegas Knights in the post season! I’m not an Oilers fan at all so I was hoping Vegas would take them out! Marner is a very nice addition though!
@Dhaladog Hollow Knight is widely considered to be one of the greatest Metroidvanias of all time. It’s not for everyone though. As was mentioned you can get the game on the cheap , I got it digitally for like $8. For the life of me I could not get into the game. I actually considered it wildly overrated for some time. I finally gave it a proper go and it’s become one of my all time favourites. It’s a masterpiece but it is challenging. I have over 100 hrs in the game so it’s ridiculous value for $8 that I spent. Personally I cannot recommend the game enough and with Silksong looking to launch this year(ha!) it’s a great time to start the series.
It has been awhile since I’ve posted on here! Like just about everyone else I’ve been enjoying my Switch 2. I’ve barely played DK Bananza but can tell it’s already a gem from the little I have played so far. Plus I copped the amiibo because I’m a Nintendo sloot! I’ll continue on with Cyberpunk 2077 which I’m absolutely loving so far on Switch 2. Digital Foundry should really give more praise to just how efficient and uniquely designed Switch 2 is but that’s for another day.
Mario Kart World and my backlog will make up the rest of my gaming. I’m hoping we do get that rumoured Nintendo Direct next week! Hades II, Silksong and Metroid Prime 4 already have my $..just like my mortgage and kids!
I do feel sorry for my Switch 1…because it feels outdated when holding it now. Add this to the rest of the 1st World problems list.
Strains on deck this week…Black Jelly, Fruity Loopz and Comatose 😮💨
There will most certainly be a SteamDeck 2 with higher specs but I have no idea why we need to compare these devices. They are 2 different devices that carry their own benefits and features. SteamDeck is a niche product. Switch 2 outsold SteamDeck lifetime sales in only 4 Days…they are not on the same level in that regard , it’s not even close.
Switch 2 is already a success but it likely will NOT surpass the OG Switch. Pricing alone will see to this, ppl will be more hesitant to purchase multiple consoles for their households with the current pricing of the Nintendo ecosystem. Not to mention Switch enjoyed the benefits of a global pandemic 😷!
This is a prequel to Mario Odyssey. There’s a part at the end of the Direct where she goes on to say something akin to “When we get to the surface DK, we’ll make our dreams come true”. She grows up to become the successful singing mayor of NEW DONK CITY!
Wow. This is some very high level cope from Sony. Let’s be clear, it’s not that Sony doesn’t consider Nintendo as competition, it’s that Sony CAN’T compete with Nintendo! This is psychological, Mr Yoshida admitted it himself. Would you want to constantly look at graphs where your company was always trailing or trending behind? That is a morale killer. He said Sony has almost less than 10% of the Japanese market share. It’s so much easier to pick on a target like Xbox, it’s almost non existent in Japan as Yoshida said himself. This is a massive compliment and show of respect to Nintendo. It’s also Sony totally ignoring Nintendo just to feel better about themselves 😆
@Sebos That part!! 70 GB is shameful, EA sucks at game optimization. Nintendo puts publishers to shame in that department. Honestly the 70GB is THE deterrent for me even though I know it’s a great game.
Fortnite and Pokémon….2 franchises I’ve somehow managed to never play. Sounds like the Switch 2 version is a great improvement, might give this game a try as it’s free…but it’s gonna put a hit on the memory which is oh so precious on the Switch 2. 1st World problems I tell ya
That is amazing! To have the Switch 2 in your house right now and have the will power to not play if for another 6 months is impressive! I would have cracked by now 😆…”Here son this WAS supposed to be your Xmas present but you can pick a game for Xmas instead”. All the credit to you if you can hold out for half a year…that Switch 2 is going to start whispering to you!
To answer your question at $80 is this game a revolutionary jump or is it just a prettier Mario Kart with newer content? It’s a bit of both. Let’s be frank, this is Mario Kart…it’s the same gameplay DNA and concepts the series is famous for. However it has evolved with the expanded 24 racers, new gameplay mechanics like rail and wall grinding, and the new modes….specifically Knockout add enough new depth to the Mario Kart formula. What’s old is new again here but it’s the best looking and smoothest iteration of Mario Kart.
Ppl will pour hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game for years to come. It’s easy to forget the joy ppl experience when playing games. Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of my kids, the fact it’s a blast to play as a family makes the $80 much easier to stomach. Not defending the price hike but the quality, value and replay ability are still top tier with Mario Kart World.
@SpacedDuck Not in this case these are simply backwards compatibility patches not performance patches. Those would come from the devs but there’s a good chance they do optimize a lot of these titles especially if devs can make $ off the upgrade patches
I have the Nintendo app but I’m gonna ignore these “Nintendo Today” features for now as I’d like leave some Switch 2 features as unknown and discover them for myself. The hype is quite wild for this system…I can’t recall a time where ppl where obsessing over stuff like the size of the physical boxes and such 😆
Gamechat does sound like a waste of system resources, it’s a fun feature to have but definitely not something I’d be using daily. Hopefully devs have an option to disable the function and gain more access to the RAM and processing. Right now it’s sounding like Gamechat will be the systems bottleneck that devs will have to work around. It’ll be annoying if we start hearing how Gamechat is restricting devs in any way
It’s a bit strange hearing “very powerful” in regards to a Nintendo system. Indeed it has been over 20yrs since they incorporated more “bleeding edge” tech into their consoles. It’s been nice to hear for a change and should bode well with helping future proof the system as it ages. For those looking for a more in depth analysis of the actual power of the Switch 2 I found this analysis to be quite interesting and in depth…if it’s all true of course!
Bayonetta deserves a much better send of than 3 and the Viola saga. Hopefully we can see this series continue on, there’s still a space for these action games and the wild universe that is Bayonetta
@Ganner
I hear ya! Gaming has become both expensive and overwhelming at the same time. There’s are so many good games to play but all on limited time these days. My backlog gives me some mild anxiety..but hey it’s all gonna be on Switch 2 so what’s the rush now right? Laika:Aged Through Blood takes a unique approach to the Metroidvania genre. Guns x Motocross??..and somehow it works beautifully. Take your time with the game , there’s some beautiful artwork throughout the game and the characters and stories are interesting, impactful and disturbing altogether. Cool game, it’s underrated and I hope more ppl experience it. I think you have the right approach with just enjoying the games and not speed running through them just to say you’ve completed them. I’m sure Nintendo intends for Switch 2 to enjoy atleast another 5-8 yrs cycle so there’s time. That backlog will really come in handy during game release lulls or when your on a particularly long trip…who knows!? There’s no prize for completing your backlog but as a consumer , you owe it to yourself to play and experience the software you have purchased!
I haven’t been gaming much of late as life is doing its thing right now. I did manage to snag a Switch 2 bundle pre order so I’ll have to start something new from the depths of the eternal backlog until June 5.
@Ironcore Surely you are not! Been having a shotgun blast of a time with Shotgun Cop Man…it’s great to play in spurts and has some pretty neat gameplay aspects and provides a nice challenge to boot. It’s just you and me playing it this weekend by the looks of it 😝
@Ganner I finished Laika:Aged Through Blood a couple weeks back. What a game! Don’t stress about your time spent, I played a similar style where I like to explore the environments and such. Think I spent about 40 hrs on the game. It’s a gem. The game has stayed with me even after beating it…the story really does capture the brutality of the life of its inhabitants and the world they live in. The music is top notch…matches the overall tone of the game.
Nintendo does own the Astral Chain IP so there’s still a chance we get a sequel. I do believe Astral Chain sold atleast 1 Million so theres definitely still an audience there for it. Nintendo could simply cover some development cost and outsource a sequel with Eel Game Studio. Here’s hoping we get a sequel on Switch 2
@Gatorclops , @axelhander
$700 for a Nintendo console is insane. I see Mario Kart World is $109 🙄 same as the Pro Controller, the joycon are $124…pretty much $1000 if u get a Pro Controller and game 😬
The Switch 2 Direct had Backlogs around the world rejoicing! The Backlog shall remain undefeated!!..it’s only getting bigger (7.9 inch screen!), stronger (4K, up to 120 FPS) and faster with stuffs like Micro SD Express. It’s also getting more expensive 💰 and so many new games are incoming!! On the bright side we can soon press that C button and and conquer our backlogs together! 😝
I haven’t played games all week so I’m getting back to Laika:Aged Through Blood I’m in the end game now. It’s currently my GOTY…but that will be short lived! I still have Zelda:Echoes of Wisdom to play so that could be next up!
Need to give my XSX some love so back to Indiana Jones and I’ll give Avowed another shot.
I must admit it felt kinda weird watching Nintendo finally highlight stuff like 4K output and FPS…not a complaint but it shows they no longer want to be considered the “underpowered” option.
They will make a ton off character packs and new track DLC. Super Smash Bros Mario Kart Edition indeed! This will likely be the biggest console launch of all time…it’s a pretty stellar launch lineup
Imagine Nintendo posting on April 1st that the Switch 2 announcement has been delayed 😂
On a more serious note I’m not sure why this Switch 1 Direct is upsetting to some ppl? Why would Nintendo wait to highlight a bunch of Switch 1 games during the Switch 2 reveal?
@OorWullie With it being backward compatible with Switch 1 and an entire slew of new next gen Nintendo and 3rd party titles enroute …how can Switch 2 not boast the greatest gaming library of any console? It’s going to be a Divine beast of a console!
@Scoopz
I’m a XSX owner as well and you’re right it is a shame! I love the Xbox controller the same way, they just never recovered from the Xbox one DRM fiasco and here we are! At this rate it makes you wonder what’s the point of buying future Xbox hardware with all their games and exclusivity going multi plat? I’m all for Xbox gaming options on Nintendo platforms tho. If anything this will make Sony become even more complacent without the competition.
@StewdaMegaManNerd Ain’t that the truth! I also find that really challenging games inspire some very creative profanity!…I’ve swore at a Tv screen in ways I’d never imagined using on a human. It builds character and new ways of applying foul language at inanimate objects. 😝
@Eduard_Brenton Wow that’s really cool! I do wish u good luck at the festival. Ironically one way to stand out amongst your fellow stand up comedians is to sit on a chair. I will show myself out now
@Rykdrew Metroid Prime..or the Metroid series in general isn’t for everyone. It’s not meant to play as an FPS…as Nintendo considers it more of a First Person Adventure game. It’s all about feeling a sense of isolation and exploration and mind you…it was designed over 20 years ago! Nothing wrong with venting if you don’t like something!
@Ganner I’m still enjoying my play through of Ace Combat 7 there’s a funny glitch on the mission 444 where if you fail the mission you hear the guy repeatedly say “Shut up!…Shut up!” …cracked me up every time
I’m still playing thru Laika: Aged Through Blood and getting covered in Bird guts and loving it! I’m sure I’ll mix in some more Ace Combat 7 as well but I’ve also returned to Hollow Knight to finish up some post game content…this game is still a special gem…it didn’t click with me for sometime but it became one of my all time favs after giving it a proper go.
Also I’m probably the only one who’ll be playing Xenoblade X:Chronicles on the Wii U you cowards!!! Nothing more definitive than the original way to play the game. I was getting close to the end but never did finish it. The Wii U gamepad is the true OG Switch 😝
We are getting close to the Switch 2 reveal…gonna be funny looking back on all the speculation and hype once the dust settles.
Enjoy the 1st weekend of Spring!…and the last weekend to earn them Gold Points!
@MrCarlos46 I believe the Gold Points always had a 12 month expiration date. Nintendo wasnt gonna let us just sit on those points…you have to pay them back to Nintendo within 1 yr…insert Rihanna’s “B*tch better have my money!” 😝
Seems a lot of ppl are confused about this. They are ending the ability to EARN Gold points on the 24th. You can still spend your existing Gold Points after March 24. You just have to use them within 12 months of earning them.
@Theghostofkeithmoon This would seem like an obvious gameplay option to include the mouse functionality. Nintendo could once again further evolve FPS gameplay (even though they consider the Prime series as First Person Adventure). From aiming, and looking around and solving puzzles, switch between weapons the mouse functionality makes complete sense for Metroid Prime 4 and with showcase using MP4 as a …Prime example ( couldn’t help myself!)
Only a couple weeks to go before the big Switch 2 reveal. Soon all the speculation will turn into Switch 2 facts!
I’ve been playing Laika: Aged Through Blood🩸 It is one banger of a Metroidvania…it’s bloody, it’s brutal and has me hating Birds at the moment! The music just might be the best surprise about this game. Do not sleep on this one!
I’ve finally jumped into Ace Combat 7 and it is one solid port! There really aren’t a lot of air combat flight simulators on Switch 1. It’s got Top Gun vibes and shows how far games have come since classics like AfterBurner
Shout out to Gold Points on Switch , it was a nice incentive and reward for buying Physical games. I have a bunch saved up so I’ll spend it wisely as the Switch winds down. I’m not surprised if they’re non transferable to our Switch 2 accounts.
Have a great weekend everyone! Spring is almost upon us! As is the Switch Deux! 😉
I’m guessing it’s either $429 or $449! Ironically I have a thread running in the forums discussing the potential for the Switch 2 launch to be the biggest launch ever. I think it’s gonna be a record breaking launch.
This is pretty lame. Hopefully they announce a successor program for Switch 2. Now they mentioned our points expire after 12 months…is there any way to see an expiry date or do we get a notification?
@Iasaha I know exactly what you mean. It sounds odd for what’s essentially a bullet hell twin stick rogue-like but it’s definitely got a rhythm to it. I never imagined I’d consider it gaming comfort food but I’m at that point now. The game really does have an endless gameplay loop
@Bydlak Ah Ha! Ok thank you for confirming I’m not crazy lol. Yeah I remember that article now…I’m assuming this means the DLC will essentially become Katana Zero 2….err…Katana One perhaps? That was 4 years ago already…this game is a lowkey Silksong 😝
@Overzeal Yeah not sure what you’re looking at…let alone complaining about a game you’ve never played or actually seen does come off as ignorant. To each their own but you’re gonna miss out on a ton of gems with that approach
@Olliemar28 Thanks for the review! I forgot about this game as it disappeared from the Eshop. I’m glad I snagged it on the final day of the sale! Up there with the likes of Hollow Knight is certainly high praise. Do we know why the game was pulled for over a year?

Hollow Knight is widely considered to be one of the greatest Metroidvanias of all time. It’s not for everyone though. With it being backward compatible with Switch 1 and an entire slew of new next gen Nintendo and 3rd party titles enroute …how can Switch 2 not boast the greatest gaming library of any console? It’s going to be a Divine beast of a console!
Re: Switch 2 And Other Platforms Can Expect "A Lot More" Xbox Games In 2025
@Scoopz

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd March)
@StewdaMegaManNerd
Ain’t that the truth! I also find that really challenging games inspire some very creative profanity!…I’ve swore at a Tv screen in ways I’d never imagined using on a human. It builds character and new ways of applying foul language at inanimate objects. 😝
@Eduard_Brenton
Wow that’s really cool! I do wish u good luck at the festival. Ironically one way to stand out amongst your fellow stand up comedians is to sit on a chair. I will show myself out now
@Rykdrew
Metroid Prime..or the Metroid series in general isn’t for everyone. It’s not meant to play as an FPS…as Nintendo considers it more of a First Person Adventure game. It’s all about feeling a sense of isolation and exploration and mind you…it was designed over 20 years ago! Nothing wrong with venting if you don’t like something!
@Ganner
I’m still enjoying my play through of Ace Combat 7 there’s a funny glitch on the mission 444 where if you fail the mission you hear the guy repeatedly say “Shut up!…Shut up!” …cracked me up every time
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd March)
Re: PSA: Nintendo Reminds Us It's Winding Down Gold Points Next Week
@MrCarlos46
I believe the Gold Points always had a 12 month expiration date. Nintendo wasnt gonna let us just sit on those points…you have to pay them back to Nintendo within 1 yr…insert Rihanna’s “B*tch better have my money!” 😝
Re: PSA: Nintendo Reminds Us It's Winding Down Gold Points Next Week
Seems a lot of ppl are confused about this. They are ending the ability to EARN Gold points on the 24th. You can still spend your existing Gold Points after March 24. You just have to use them within 12 months of earning them.
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime 4 Will Apparently Make Quite The Splash At The Switch 2 Direct
@Theghostofkeithmoon
This would seem like an obvious gameplay option to include the mouse functionality.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th March)
Re: Switch 2 Predicted To Cost "$400 Or More"
I’m guessing it’s either $429 or $449! Ironically I have a thread running in the forums discussing the potential for the Switch 2 launch to be the biggest launch ever. I think it’s gonna be a record breaking launch.

Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives
This is pretty lame. Hopefully they announce a successor program for Switch 2. Now they mentioned our points expire after 12 months…is there any way to see an expiry date or do we get a notification?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st February)
@Iasaha
I know exactly what you mean. It sounds odd for what’s essentially a bullet hell twin stick rogue-like but it’s definitely got a rhythm to it. I never imagined I’d consider it gaming comfort food but I’m at that point now. The game really does have an endless gameplay loop
Re: Review: Laika: Aged Through Blood (Switch) - A Supremely Unique Motorcycling Metroidvania
@Bydlak
Ah Ha! Ok thank you for confirming I’m not crazy lol. Yeah I remember that article now…I’m assuming this means the DLC will essentially become Katana Zero 2….err…Katana One perhaps? That was 4 years ago already…this game is a lowkey Silksong 😝
Re: Review: Laika: Aged Through Blood (Switch) - A Supremely Unique Motorcycling Metroidvania
@Overzeal
Yeah not sure what you’re looking at…let alone complaining about a game you’ve never played or actually seen does come off as ignorant. To each their own but you’re gonna miss out on a ton of gems with that approach
Re: Review: Laika: Aged Through Blood (Switch) - A Supremely Unique Motorcycling Metroidvania
@Bydlak
Katana Zero was a pretty cool game! I could be wrong but I thought there was a free DLC expansion that was planned for the game years ago?
Re: Review: Laika: Aged Through Blood (Switch) - A Supremely Unique Motorcycling Metroidvania
@Olliemar28
Thanks for the review! I forgot about this game as it disappeared from the Eshop. I’m glad I snagged it on the final day of the sale! Up there with the likes of Hollow Knight is certainly high praise. Do we know why the game was pulled for over a year?
