I purchased 3 years of Xbox Live Gold and then simply upgraded them to Gamepass Ultimate. Just be sure your current Gamepass subscription has expired. When you are stacking your Xbox Live Gold years be sure to TURN OFF recurring billing. This should avoid you converting the extra Gamepass month that would likely put u over the 3 Yr limit. Once you’ve stacked all your years up it should be a simple conversion, if it’s not your 1st time it will charge $15 instead of the $1 to upgrade this time. I had no issues. Gamepass until 2025! Good luck to you!
Just renewed Gamepass for 3 more years myself! Get those 12 Month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions while u still can! I’ll feed this game to ever hungry beast that is my backlog
I think we’d be fooling ourselves to believe that the Switch successor will simply have more power. Switch is Nintendos most accessible system to date, I’m sure it’s allowed them to collect more data on ganers than ever before. They have a greater sense of how and when ppl are playing their games. Next Switch I’d expect some “game changing” QOL improvements. Incorporating Switch into your lifestyle will surely be a focus. Think of a sleep monitor feature or a simple app that helps ppl relax or fall asleep.Ring Fit already proved the potential health benefits gaming can provide. Anyway they can imbed Switch usage into the daily routines of consumers will be key. Your phone does so much more than take calls, if they stick with the Hybrid model I’d expect they’ll try and capitalize on implementing more QOL lifestyle features for value beyond gaming. If u look at Nintendos recent trajectory, Universal theme parks, Movies…they are really expanding beyond the scope of simply being a video game company.
Also, with over 100 million sold and counting , I can’t see them not making the next system backward compatible, that’s too large of a market to just simply cut off access to the incredible library games they’ve developed and invested in.
I’ll continue my play through of the excellent game DeathLoop on the Series X, probably will get some Forza 5 and Guardians of the Galaxy in there as well.
On Switch, Splatoon 3 is a must in this household right now and I’ll finally start Cult of the Lamb. Between Gamepass and Switch my backlog feels invincible at this point.
Strains on deck: Root Beer Float, Platinum Cookies, Romulan!
@calbeau Star Voyage…a game I’ll never forget. I remember my mom bought it for me as a surprise. I was so hyped!!!…until I played it! Like you said it was a hard game with unrealized potential, No Man’s Sky appears to have captured the spirit of the game, it’ll be the Star Voyager of my adult life 😂
Curious to know if it requires an online connection to be played, I have it downloaded on Gamepass but have yet to play it. The portability of the Switch is always enticing. It reminds me of a fully modernized and spiritual successor to the NES game Star Voyager! I’ll probably try it first on the Series X to see if it’s my kind of jam, cool it’s coming to the Switch tho!
Congrats to Splatoon 3! I have ppl on my friends list with 175 hours already logged into the game! 175 hours …just released on Sept 9! It’s a smash hit!
@glaemay Oh man, sounds like it got real out in Europe with those power bills. Hope prices eventually start cooling down because i can’t imagine it being fun having to choose between gaming systems based off their power consumption!
I’m not even a graphics snob by any means, all I’m hoping is the Switch’s system limitations don’t impact the performance of Bayo 3 to the point where it no longer plays with fluidity. It’s a high paced action game that requires a certain level of flow and fluidity to capture the intense on screen action/combos. I just don’t want the essence of Bayo 3 to be hindered by the system. Still getting the game 100%!
Looking forward to this game, it’s an amazing series. It’s too bad to hear that Bayo 3s biggest gripe has nothing to with the game but rather the hardware. Switch is starting to show its age here, hopefully it doesn’t hamper the overall experience.
Most definitely will be playing Splatoon 3…bought 2 copies like a true sucker for Nintendo. It’s still an awesome franchise, for those complaining about not enough “new” in this iteration…this game is extremely well polished. Its looks and gameplay are more refined, one of the best multiplayer experiences anywhere. It will only get even better with the incoming updates.
Might jump back into some MH Sunbreak, been playing more Enter the Gungeon too, of course there’s always a ton of quality in the backlog. October will be hectic for Switch, my finally pickup an Xbox as well!
On deck this weekend…as always good food, made some homemade Philly Cheesesteaks. Strains: LA Kush Cake, Red Congo and Khalifa Kush!
It was my initial point…there’s this sense of entitlement where a game is only worthy if it’s groundbreaking and revolutionary nowadays. There’s nothing wrong with the Splatoon franchise but ppl felt burned by Splatoon 2 so now they demand a revolution. If only the same expectations where expected from franchises such as Fifa, COD etc..
Fair enough! Don’t get me wrong , I understand the concerns about this being more of a refresh than a true sequel. It might not be the revolutionary change we were expecting but “if it ain’t broke…don’t fix it!” For me I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve actually played the game. I’d already tempered my expectations so any new changes are welcome. My hope is this iteration will improve and expand the franchise, let’s keep it mind they have 2 years of anticipated updates. This could be quite a different game by then! Clearly your pretty passionate about this franchise. I think Splatoon 3 will be great, you can’t go wrong with more Splatoon. If you look on the bright side we could get that revolutionary Splatoon alongside new Nintendo hardware!…in 2027 mind u lol
That was just a joke but clearly you took personal offence. You legit sound like you might cry over this. It’s Splatoon 3, take it or leave it. If your so butt hurt about Splatoon 3 , don’t buy the game. It’s that simple. I’m pretty sure the community will enjoy the game just fine without your holy presence. The game isn’t even out yet and your already crying. It’s just a video game. I’ll take Nintendefender over being a whinny obnoxious troll everyday of the week , thank you!
If u know best , being such a Splatoon 3 expert..why not take all your gaming development expertise and design your perfect Splatoon 3 game. We’ll wait….
October is looking pretty stacked already…Nier, No Mans Sky, Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Bayo 3!? This being right on the heels of Splatoon 3, Xenoblade 3 and MH Sunbreak too…my backlog will be in Heaven!! 😝
@Zuljaras Oh man…DUSK! You’re in for a treat, it’s an underrated gem! That’s dope you got the physical copy too! I don’t really mess with Limited Run much but that’d be a great game to own physical! @JasmineDragon Best wishes during your challenging time. You may lose your eyesight but you’ll always have your “vision”. Hoping your situation improves! Take care!
After 5 years I finally own Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild. Finished the game years ago, but strangely never owned the game! This weekend , ill just play whatever I end up playing. No solid plans but there’s always that backlog staring at me, I have CULT OF THE LAMB but I’ll wait for the patches to drop before I play it. I’m sure some MH RISE is in the mix, might play some HUNTDOWN and ENTER THE GUNGEON in co op. Too many options for real!
Strains on deck this week: Black Cherry Punch, Mint Chocolate Chip and some classic OG Kush
I’m not surprised if the Nintendo Ninjas take Reggie out! “Mr Fils Aime apparently tripped, fell and landed on several ninja throwing stars…his body was not ready!”
This game is in my backlog, sounds like once it gets patched it’s a 9-10 rated game? I can wait! This game must be on some ish! It set the comments section on fire!
This is a nice addition….this will appease many Nintendo gamers! A true classic N64 title…super slowly but surely they are improving the value NSO offers. Wonder what else drops before the year ends?
Now I’m curious! Do you play any games on Switch or any other Nintendo systems! You typically post about playing non Nintendo games on non Nintendo devices. It appears you have a very distinct affinity for mobile gaming? I could be wrong lol!

@RubyCarbuncle I’m a Splatoon 1 vet as well, I get why some are slightly upset with how Splatoon 2 turned out but Splatoon 3 does appear to offer a ton of new features and options. Not sure why some are treating this like it’s some annualized FIFA, Madden or COD rehash with a new cover ? Splatoon 3 seems like it’s shaping up to be what ppl expected from Splatoon 2. Splatoon formula works perfectly fine there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here
Tough crowd to please! Looking like Splatoon 2 had more of a negative effect on the series? I guess ppl are looking for a completely new game at this point
The base Rise game wasn’t too challenging, I’m assuming to allow gamers time to acclimate to the new systems , wirebugs and such. I too like Shade_Koopa am finding the MR ranking much more challenging, it’s been a great increase in difficulty. This recent update looks great! Sunbreak is an expensive DLC but seeing the continued support from the developers does help add some value
I know they’re just opinions but it seems a bit odd seeing some score it no better than 8 while others are rewarding it with perfect 10s acclaiming it as a masterpiece..sounds like this one will be debated for some time.
Astral Chain 2 would be sweet! I do believe it’s now a Nintendo owned IP so I imagine it would be a Nintendo announcement if it ever comes to fruition. I think it’s cool they hired the Nintendo Marketing sales executive…clearly both companies have a similar culture and philosophy to making games. Always wanted Nintendo to just buy Platinum but really there’s no need they work well as partners as is. Anyway, this is making me wanna go play Astral Chain now 😂
Your feelings deceive you! Sunbreak is definitely still getting played…there’s just so many great gaming options in general , plus a lot of Xenoblade, Live A Live and Splatoon hype at the moment. I’m still grinding my way through Sunbreak…it’s a great expansion so far and I’m only on MR4!
Just tried out the trial, never play The Show series before, I actually quite enjoyed my time with the trial on Switch. Not too many options for baseball games but if your looking for a true sim this is likely your best option
Monster Hunter series is definitely a unique gaming experience. You’re absolutely right, the game has many systems and gameplay mechanics to learn. Once it all clicks, it really opens up the game. The one recommendation I’d say is to not discount the multiplayer aspect. You can argue the game is at its peak when being enjoyed in multiplayer. Once your comfortable enough with the game definitely give it a try. It has a great community of gamers, you can really learn some things from other hunters. Good hunting to ya! Oh ya btw…Bayonetta is one of the finest action series you’ll ever play.
Initially I was a bit skeptical with it being a pricey for some DLC, just started digging into the game and it really does improve on the base game in just about every way. The difficulty really has been upped, old monsters have new bags of tricks…they really are trying to kill you this time around. Looking forward to getting deeper into this expansion, Capcom has done a great job supporting the franchise.
Hot damn! 6th play through?? Thats something! I can’t say I’ve ever replayed a game 6 times over, must be a true banger. I’ve always wanted to get into the game but it just hasn’t worked out just yet!
This game. Been in my backlog for sometime. I started it, ultimate got lost and haven’t gone back. This might be a good reason to start this game fresh. The atmosphere , music and gameplay are great I just never really dove into…err..burrowed into the game. Might as well before Silksong releases…it is still releasing isn’t it??
@AmplifyMJ 13 years! I still remember the moment I heard the news! I was in shock!…he passed in the exact same way he vowed to avoid, as another victim of fame. Sad irony! I’ll bump some MJ today 💯!
@JasmineDragon That reply cracked me up! I’m sure u weren’t the only one wondering how they were managing to play THAT many titles over THAT many consoles every single weekend. @nhSnork…was beginning to believe your ambitious gaming was simply your career!
Oh on a final note..if Nintendo doesn’t drop a Direct next week can we chill out on the hate and disappointment?? Nintendo hasnt announced or promised anything at this point. Stop being caught up in the false expectations of others! Enjoy your lives, a Direct will happen when it happens! Treat it as a pleasant surprise.
I’ll continue my playthrough of Subnautica, really enjoying the game experience. I recently found a bunch of DS/3DS games I thought were lost. There’s a ton of titles like Zelda Spirit Tracks, Contra 4, even found the entire 999 series so looking fwd to get getting reacquainted with my 3DS.
I caved and purchased TMNT and finally got AI The Somnium Files 1 on the cheap from the Big Ol Super Sale. Now..just waiting for Obra Din to go on sale…will Rebel Galaxy Outlaw ever go on sale?
As per usual this weekend will include some excellent dining, time with friends, top grade strains on deck are Pink Death, Gods Green Crack and LA Kush Cake!
I have not been gaming much at all of late but it’s been kinda nice taking a bit of a break. If I get any gaming in it’ll likely be “diving” back into Subnautica…other than that really no plans for gaming. I’m sure my weekend will be spent enjoying some good food, might catch up on some Comics…my strains on deck this weekend are some classic Super Silver Haze, LA Kush Cake, Death Bubba and some seriously potent Nitro Cookies!
What a great game! It’s addicting and the game just has this vibrant and fun energy to it. I’ll check out this DLC, nice to see the added support soon after launch. Switch is an Indie beast!

That reply cracked me up!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 25th)
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 11th)
Have a great weekend!
Re: Shantae Celebrates 20 Years With A Switch eShop Sale, Up To 50% Off
Never played this franchise but I always respected its longevity. Might finally give it a try, now where to start?
Re: Kickflip Alien Butt In OlliOlli World's First Expansion, Void Riders
What a great game! It’s addicting and the game just has this vibrant and fun energy to it. I’ll check out this DLC, nice to see the added support soon after launch. Switch is an Indie beast!
