Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games

Rainz

Metroid is likely a 2024 title, perhaps it’s the Switch’s swan song title before they finally announce the Switch successor which probably won’t release until 2025. They can still maintain momentum with Zelda and Metroid Prime 4 in the pipelines, not to mention next years Mario movie let alone if they announce a new Mario game, movie tie in or not.

For those disappointed about Advance Wars..look on the bright side…when it’s released it will more then likely be the absolute best version of the game. It’s not like they just stopped working on the game. They’ve had plenty of time to refine and perfect the title, imagine the amount of content and DLC they’ve had time to cook up. It could be more than well worth the wait.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of September 2022

Rainz

Very impressive numbers, especially being console exclusives. Imagine these numbers if MK8 or Animal Crossing etc. we’re multi platform releases? Close to crossing 1 billion in total software sold is also an insane attach rate. You really can’t argue it, Nintendo has the most diverse and literally the most accessible video game console around. A litany of high quality titles that can be played anywhere, it’s quite the value proposition. It will be interesting to see what transpires over the holidays, they’ve been “winning” the past few Black Friday and Holiday sales, with this impressive build up of games from Xenoblabe 3 to the upcoming Pokémon title they are set for the years’ end.

Kindest of thanks! I couldn’t agree with you more. I guess some ppl just need a reason to justify their TV purchases with all the focus on ultra high def resolutions. Too much focus on just higher specs and prettier graphics and before long developers won’t even know how to make games anymore just pretty cutscenes lol. We’re already starting to see these big AAA releases, overhyped only to be all specs and no soul in the final package.

Regarding Signalis I’ve already downloaded it on GamePass (for the higher resolution of course! ) definitely looking forward to the game. It’s been just a monster last few months for the Switch, it’s some kind of time to be a gamer!

@Guitar_bard

Glad someone else is enjoying Alien Isolation, such a great port on the Switch. Still one of my all time fav survivor horror games…I still have a couple of the DLC to complete too.

If you’re looking to compare it to Dying Light they are very different, whereas Alien Isolation is very much a sort of suffocating and claustrophobic experience being trapped on a space ship….Dying Light offers a more brutal open world experience. It’s a very good game, more action paced and variance, it can be a tense game but not as eerily suspenseful and isolating as the Alien experience is. Both are high recommends

Re: Review: Signalis - Brilliantly Tense And Surreal Sci-Fi Survival Horror

Rainz

@Dr_Luigi

Indeed, gameplay is King! Not disregarding the importance of performance in a game. I admire great looking games like any gamer would. I’m more so speaking to this fixation that games of today are only considered playable or good if they support ultra high def resolutions. As I was saying , resolution is important to the overall aesthetics of a game it’s just not a defining feature for me. I’ve never purchased or replayed any game because of its resolution.

@Vyacheslav333
Made no mention of the Switch’s screen size. I’m just saying there’s a reason there isn’t a list of the “Best 1080p/720p/480p Games of All Time” because in the end the resolution is not a defining feature of a video game. I’m not saying stuff like performance and frame rate don’t matter, just saying try not to judge a game by its resolution, u will miss out on some absolute gems! 4K, UHD, 1080p, 720p are features I used to buy my TVs/monitors not my video games.

Re: Review: Signalis - Brilliantly Tense And Surreal Sci-Fi Survival Horror

Rainz

@Vyacheslav333

Don’t get too caught up with the “P” game..720, 1080, 480. Who cares, just enjoy the game! Your favourite games should be defined by the gameplay experience not their fidelity. No one goes back to replay a game because its 1080 or 720. Personally I just don’t want you to miss out on some excellent games solely because of some measurement of display assigned to a screen.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 29th)

Rainz

On Switch I’ll be starting up Bayonetta 3, likely continuing with Splatoon 3 and will eventually get around to playing my copy of Nier. I recently picked up Return of the Obra Dinn on sale in the eshop…that game rarely gets discounted! I’ve been playing through Luigi’s Mansion 3 and what an amazing game. Still feels criminally underrated and under appreciated, it’s a real gem. Switch has been blessed with an amazing release of games to end the year.

Xbox Series X-I’ll look to get back into DeathLoop, Guardians of the Galaxy and might check out the new Requiem A Plagues Tale. Might even fire up Alien Isolation for a nice weekend heart attack!

Strains on deck this weekend: Root Beer Float, OG Kush and some killer Do Si Gmosi for those sativa connoisseurs

Happy Gaming!

Re: Poll: Is The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Good Enough Value Yet?

Rainz

The Expansion has value but it’s overpriced. I just paid $180 for 3 years of Gamepass which has immense value. The slow drip release of games isn’t very enticing. The MK8 tracks are a nice add but overall there’s just not enough overall value, not to mention the online multiplayer aspect is near non existent. The retro games are great but that wears off quickly. As of right now I can’t justify renewing it for next year.

Rainz

@MeloMan

Playing 999 was like playing a reaaaallly good book you just can’t put down. It’s really more of an experience than it is just a game. How has it not been produced into anime series or movie form?Seems like a perfect premise for a streaming service series. For those with a 3DS this is a title to grab before the Eshop closes.

Re: Review: Persona 5 Royal - Finally On Switch, This Is The Very Definition Of Essential

Rainz

@Dr_Luigi

I purchased 3 years of Xbox Live Gold and then simply upgraded them to Gamepass Ultimate. Just be sure your current Gamepass subscription has expired. When you are stacking your Xbox Live Gold years be sure to TURN OFF recurring billing. This should avoid you converting the extra Gamepass month that would likely put u over the 3 Yr limit. Once you’ve stacked all your years up it should be a simple conversion, if it’s not your 1st time it will charge $15 instead of the $1 to upgrade this time. I had no issues. Gamepass until 2025! Good luck to you!

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Echoes Every Nintendo Fan's Wishes For The Switch Successor

Rainz

I think we’d be fooling ourselves to believe that the Switch successor will simply have more power. Switch is Nintendos most accessible system to date, I’m sure it’s allowed them to collect more data on ganers than ever before. They have a greater sense of how and when ppl are playing their games. Next Switch I’d expect some “game changing” QOL improvements. Incorporating Switch into your lifestyle will surely be a focus. Think of a sleep monitor feature or a simple app that helps ppl relax or fall asleep.Ring Fit already proved the potential health benefits gaming can provide. Anyway they can imbed Switch usage into the daily routines of consumers will be key. Your phone does so much more than take calls, if they stick with the Hybrid model I’d expect they’ll try and capitalize on implementing more QOL lifestyle features for value beyond gaming. If u look at Nintendos recent trajectory, Universal theme parks, Movies…they are really expanding beyond the scope of simply being a video game company.

Also, with over 100 million sold and counting , I can’t see them not making the next system backward compatible, that’s too large of a market to just simply cut off access to the incredible library games they’ve developed and invested in.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 1st)

Rainz

I’ll continue my play through of the excellent game DeathLoop on the Series X, probably will get some Forza 5 and Guardians of the Galaxy in there as well.

On Switch, Splatoon 3 is a must in this household right now and I’ll finally start Cult of the Lamb. Between Gamepass and Switch my backlog feels invincible at this point.

Strains on deck: Root Beer Float, Platinum Cookies, Romulan!

Have an extremely enjoyable weekend!

Re: No Man Sky's 4.0 Update Will Be "Fully Focused" On The Nintendo Switch Launch

Rainz

Curious to know if it requires an online connection to be played, I have it downloaded on Gamepass but have yet to play it. The portability of the Switch is always enticing. It reminds me of a fully modernized and spiritual successor to the NES game Star Voyager! I’ll probably try it first on the Series X to see if it’s my kind of jam, cool it’s coming to the Switch tho!

Re: Hands On: The Witch Is Back - Bayonetta 3 Is Real, And We've Played It

Rainz

@Ventilator

I’m not even a graphics snob by any means, all I’m hoping is the Switch’s system limitations don’t impact the performance of Bayo 3 to the point where it no longer plays with fluidity. It’s a high paced action game that requires a certain level of flow and fluidity to capture the intense on screen action/combos. I just don’t want the essence of Bayo 3 to be hindered by the system. Still getting the game 100%!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 10th)

Rainz

Most definitely will be playing Splatoon 3…bought 2 copies like a true sucker for Nintendo. It’s still an awesome franchise, for those complaining about not enough “new” in this iteration…this game is extremely well polished. Its looks and gameplay are more refined, one of the best multiplayer experiences anywhere. It will only get even better with the incoming updates.

Might jump back into some MH Sunbreak, been playing more Enter the Gungeon too, of course there’s always a ton of quality in the backlog. October will be hectic for Switch, my finally pickup an Xbox as well!

On deck this weekend…as always good food, made some homemade Philly Cheesesteaks. Strains: LA Kush Cake, Red Congo and Khalifa Kush!

Happy Weekend to all!

Re: Hands On: Splatoon 3 Brings New Ideas, But Nothing Revolutionary

Rainz

@fixjuxa

It was my initial point…there’s this sense of entitlement where a game is only worthy if it’s groundbreaking and revolutionary nowadays. There’s nothing wrong with the Splatoon franchise but ppl felt burned by Splatoon 2 so now they demand a revolution. If only the same expectations where expected from franchises such as Fifa, COD etc..

Re: Hands On: Splatoon 3 Brings New Ideas, But Nothing Revolutionary

Rainz

@Dang69

Fair enough! Don’t get me wrong , I understand the concerns about this being more of a refresh than a true sequel. It might not be the revolutionary change we were expecting but “if it ain’t broke…don’t fix it!” For me I’ll reserve judgment until I’ve actually played the game. I’d already tempered my expectations so any new changes are welcome. My hope is this iteration will improve and expand the franchise, let’s keep it mind they have 2 years of anticipated updates. This could be quite a different game by then! Clearly your pretty passionate about this franchise. I think Splatoon 3 will be great, you can’t go wrong with more Splatoon. If you look on the bright side we could get that revolutionary Splatoon alongside new Nintendo hardware!…in 2027 mind u lol

Re: Hands On: Splatoon 3 Brings New Ideas, But Nothing Revolutionary

Rainz

@Dang69

That was just a joke but clearly you took personal offence. You legit sound like you might cry over this. It’s Splatoon 3, take it or leave it. If your so butt hurt about Splatoon 3 , don’t buy the game. It’s that simple. I’m pretty sure the community will enjoy the game just fine without your holy presence. The game isn’t even out yet and your already crying. It’s just a video game. I’ll take Nintendefender over being a whinny obnoxious troll everyday of the week , thank you!

If u know best , being such a Splatoon 3 expert..why not take all your gaming development expertise and design your perfect Splatoon 3 game.
We’ll wait….

Actually no we won’t 😂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 20th)

Rainz

@Zuljaras Oh man…DUSK! You’re in for a treat, it’s an underrated gem! That’s dope you got the physical copy too! I don’t really mess with Limited Run much but that’d be a great game to own physical! There’s a ton of secrets in the game so try everything…even the bars of soap…you’ll know what I mean lol

@JasmineDragon
Best wishes during your challenging time. You may lose your eyesight but you’ll always have your “vision”. Hoping your situation improves! Take care!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 20th)

Rainz

After 5 years I finally own Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild. Finished the game years ago, but strangely never owned the game! This weekend , ill just play whatever I end up playing. No solid plans but there’s always that backlog staring at me, I have CULT OF THE LAMB but I’ll wait for the patches to drop before I play it. I’m sure some MH RISE is in the mix, might play some HUNTDOWN and ENTER THE GUNGEON in co op. Too many options for real!

Strains on deck this week: Black Cherry Punch, Mint Chocolate Chip and some classic OG Kush

Have a great weekend!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 13th)

Rainz

@Teksetter
Yeah after you complete the Village Quests the Hub Quests are the next objective. I know the multiplayer aspect sounds a bit intimidating but rest assured it’s really the true heart of the game. The MH community are a great supportive bunch…don’t worry if you faint during an online quest…it’s all apart of the game! To be honest there are some quests that are made much easier not to mention more fun when completing them in multiplayer. Hunting online is truly one of the best features, if not the best part of the Monster Hunter series.

Re: Splatoon 3's First Splatfest Will Be Playable Later This Month In Free Demo

Rainz

@RubyCarbuncle
I’m a Splatoon 1 vet as well, I get why some are slightly upset with how Splatoon 2 turned out but Splatoon 3 does appear to offer a ton of new features and options. Not sure why some are treating this like it’s some annualized FIFA, Madden or COD rehash with a new cover ? Splatoon 3 seems like it’s shaping up to be what ppl expected from Splatoon 2. Splatoon formula works perfectly fine there’s no need to reinvent the wheel here

Re: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's Title Update 1 Is Out Tomorrow, Here Are The Patch Notes

Rainz

@BenAV

The base Rise game wasn’t too challenging, I’m assuming to allow gamers time to acclimate to the new systems , wirebugs and such. I too like Shade_Koopa am finding the MR ranking much more challenging, it’s been a great increase in difficulty. This recent update looks great! Sunbreak is an expensive DLC but seeing the continued support from the developers does help add some value
