Secondly I never blamed Nintendo at all for preying off of nostalgia. Simply that it’s apart if their business model. Obviously if there’s a market for , any business would pursue it.
Indeed the fear of mass consolidation in the industry is a threat that likely will not benefit gamers or the industry as a whole. This is a massive acquisition, no doubt. I don’t view it as a hostile acquisition as MS trails behind Nintendo and Sony by quite a significant margin. The idea is to remain competitive and at face value it appears MS is willing to continue to share these IP’s with all gaming formats.
What would be interesting is seeing the reaction if it was Sony acquiring these publishers. If Sony did it most ppl would expect them to make those acquisitions exclusive to the Sony ecosystem, no way Sony pays that much $ just to share with its competitors. It’s intriguing to say the least. I agree with you in the sense that sole ownership over multiple large scale devs/publishers is not healthy for the industry. If it goes thru, we shall see if MS stays true to their word or not.
It’s nice to see members of the “Big 3” collaborating as opposed to all the money hatting, back door dealing and fueling the fanboys and girls base against each other. This is great news for Nintendo platforms, even if you don’t like COD games, the increase in variety, especially in the form of a AAA 3rd party franchise is a positive. With the trove of Nintendo 1st and 2nd party exclusives mixed in with an expanding offering of quality 3rd party titles…there isn’t a better positioned video game company than Nintendo.

The delayed info and release of Bayonetta 3 now makes sense! Platinum was grinding away at 2 games, both Switch exclusives so big props to Platinum Games. I’ll likely wait for a review on Bayonetta Origins , still wrapping up my play through of Bayo 3

Capcom has had sales on 3DS and Wii U fairly frequently, these games have been going for like $5 throughout the year. I picked this one up cuz it was on the cheap. Lol I’ve never played an Ace Attorney game before

It is an odd DLC from them, they are usually pretty good with added value in their add on content. I’m sure Side Order will be worth the wait, and hopefully they can add more to the Inkopolis cosmetic makeover. Right now this expansion appears as a money grab
I managed to snag a copy late yesterday from Walmart. Its strange seeing this level of demand for a Metroid game but it’s deserved exposure. It’s ironic seeing such demand for physical when they released that report claiming physical is now a niche market 😆

I got a copy late last night from Walmart. Best Buy is sold out, only reason I got a copy is the morning sales associate is apparently “an idiot” according to his co workers lol…he forgot to put out the morning shipment so they have copies available. Probably gone by now. I’ve yet to try it out but excited to replay after 20 yrs!
Nintendo has been doing a good job of keeping things “fresh” thus far with Splatoon 3. The new King Salmon Run looks pretty cool, should be another fun Salmon. I’m still a bit confused on what the point is to Wave 1 but Side Dish does look interesting. March should be fun start to the new season, hard to believe it’s been 3 months already since the last season update. I don’t think Nintendo was playing around about their strategy to continue to support its evergreen titles to close out Switch. That Switch 2 won’t be out until 2025 folks 😝
Oh snap…my N Zap 89’ is making its return and the new special looks pretty deadly. Ya’ll are in trouble now! Got about 30 Sheldon Licenses just waiting to get spent on new weapons!
This is my kinda news! I used to love this special back in Splatoon 1. Before it got nerfed it was near impossibe to stop 😂, I can understand how many victims oppose to this announcement. I’m all for any new specials or weapons added. Now if only they can do a better job explaining these upcoming expansion DLC…wave 1 seems underwhelming if it’s simply a return to Inkopolis as a hub. Side Order had more Octo Expansion vibes which I’d be all for.
I initially scoffed at Nintendo’s 10 year plan for the Switch. Now I’m thinking 10 years isn’t that much of a stretch at this point. I think 8 yrs is the sweet spot before any new hardware is announced. They just said they still believe there’s room to grow sales with the Switch and they haven’t even introduced a price cut yet so I believe them! I agree and think Nintendo will let Zelda and the Mario movie carry most the of this years momentum, then I could see a swan song year in 2024 with a steady stream of quality software before they introduce Switch 2 in 2025.
I’ll be fighting for that milk chocolate 🍫 life during Splatfest. That Nintendo Direct will have my Backlog levelling up soon, and my bank accounts levelling down 😂. Bayonetta 3 and Smash Bros get the rest of my Switch attention.

I’ll give Nintendo credit as they are probably the best when it comes to formatting and file compression. 18 GB is what it would take to load Pong on my XBox series X 😂…seriously in comparisons to your standard 50GB+ for the other consoles this is absolutely manageable. This game will be another epic.
Gotcha. I rarely pay full price myself, I don’t know if I’d go as far as saying NO game is worth the $60,$70 asking price , some ppl pour hundreds sometimes thousands of hours into a game. I’d say for that kind of value $60-70 is an affordable investment

The outcry over the pricing is expected but ppl are straight up over reacting. It just seems petty, ppl pay hundreds, if not $1000 or more for the phone in their hand and every month they continue paying their monthly bill. Do ppl cancel their cell phone plans when they go over by $10? Exactly. How are you gonna clamour over a game for over half a decade , then turn around and refuse to purchase it over $10? Its a game ppl will invest hundreds and hundreds of hours playing, I’d like to think the $10 will be worth it.

This console sale numbers are insane. Not even a price cut has been introduced. It’s an extremely impressive feat, makes sense why they’re generating so much revenue being as stingy as they have been. It will likely be the all time best selling console by 2025…just in time for its successor to be released 😉
@Uncle_Franklin Ironically the immense success of the Switch has only increased the value of the Wii U in 2023. Crazy to think it sold just over 13 Million units in its lifespan, it’s a collectors item now. Wii U is pretty much Nintendos Virtual boy of this era.
Think about that…close to 1 Billion units of software on one console.This is without the help of massive franchises such as COD, Madden and GTA not to mention this gen has been hampered with the chip shortages. An impressive feat with those circumstances. Such a complete contrast from the software hampered Wii U era. These figures justify my Switch backlog lol. Congratulations to Nintendo, this is a big accomplishment and milestone. Nintendoooooomed! 😭
Continuing with the 3DS/Wii U Eshop purge. Out of nowhere I started replaying Kid Icarus Uprising on the 3DS…this game is insanely good. It deserves a sequel or port at least, could make for a nice launch window title on the Switch 2 😉 .
Other than that I’m picking off my Backlog targets one at a time, will dive into more Smash Bros Ultimate and will get back to some Xbox Series X gaming…all while keeping an eye out for Chinese surveillance Balloons 🎈
This won’t matter. Game Freak could release another broken Pokémon game and it’d still sell through the roof. As long as gamers keep paying it offers them little incentive to change their ways.
I’ve been gradually purging the Wii U and 3DS eshops…still lots of gems to be had. I’m even considering picking up Devils Third just as it’s much cheaper digital than physical. It’s getting close to crunch time, the end of an era!
I really need to get back to this game. I haven’t touched any of the update content yet so I have a ton to access still. These “free” updates are great tho, no complaints from me. Hopefully the online community is still active, I’m on lowly MR10 only! Capcom has done a good job supporting the title!

I’ve started my Eshop purge, recently picked up Affordable Space Advetures and Zelda:Phantom Hourglass. For anyone looking, Capcom has a Wii U Eshop sale. You can get games like Ducktales, Resident Evil 4 etc…on the cheap. I just purchased Zack and Wiki after all these years for like $7
I’m definitely excited for TOTK in a couple of months but I’m starting to temper some expectations! The hype for this game is nigh unrealistic! It’s a tall ask for a sequel, I’m sure it too will be an amazing game as BoTW was…however I’m prepared that it might not feel as fresh and new as it’s predecessor. The game will review well surely but I’m also prepared for some 8’s and 9’s this time around. Not saying it’ll be bad!…just saying the shoes it’s attempting to fill are absolutely massive!
The final day of 2022! I plan on spending 2023 the same as 2022…living life 1 day at a time and remembering to appreciate my experiences and moments in time!
Currently my wifey is playing BOTW for her 1st time and she’s completely enthralled..it’s been a lot of fun to relive the experience through her. I still think one of its biggest reveals is the fact that Link was dating a fish! Hyrule was very progressive for its time lol! Would his daughter be named Lipha? 🤔
I’ll be ringing in the new year with some exquisite BBQ and gaming with family and friends. Like @nhSnork…I’m just going to try and play as many games as I can lol …as soon as I defeat Time of course! If Covid has taught us anything it’s that the true pandemic is our Backlogs!

Was never lured by these games, I know Golf Story is a bit of a cult classic to many so this is a disappointing follow up for them. Seemed like the devs were in over their heads this time around. Too bad for those who’ve purchased the game in its current state. Maybe now we know it was shadow dropped in the first place.
I’ve been meaning to get back into this game, haven’t played since the summer so I have a ton of update content to check out let alone completing the main story. Can’t complain about the added value, will be interesting to see what they bring in 2023..it really is a great game.

Game wise I’ve been really enjoying TMNT Shredders Revenge of late. BAYONETTA 3..the story is crazy as it should be , im still loving the gameplay throughout. SPLATOON 3 of course. Too many game options during downtime.
On Series X I’ll try out the new HIGH ON LIFE game, ELDEN RING is still in its box! My Backlog remains like time …undefeated!

Ironically the immense success of the Switch has only increased the value of the Wii U in 2023. Crazy to think it sold just over 13 Million units in its lifespan, it’s a collectors item now. Wii U is pretty much Nintendos Virtual boy of this era.

Think about that…close to 1 Billion units of software on one console.This is without the help of massive franchises such as COD, Madden and GTA not to mention this gen has been hampered with the chip shortages. An impressive feat with those circumstances. Such a complete contrast from the software hampered Wii U era. These figures justify my Switch backlog lol. Congratulations to Nintendo, this is a big accomplishment and milestone. Nintendoooooomed! 😭

Continuing with the 3DS/Wii U Eshop purge. Out of nowhere I started replaying Kid Icarus Uprising on the 3DS…this game is insanely good. It deserves a sequel or port at least, could make for a nice launch window title on the Switch 2 😉 .
Other than that I’m picking off my Backlog targets one at a time, will dive into more Smash Bros Ultimate and will get back to some Xbox Series X gaming…all while keeping an eye out for Chinese surveillance Balloons 🎈

This won’t matter. Game Freak could release another broken Pokémon game and it’d still sell through the roof. As long as gamers keep paying it offers them little incentive to change their ways.

I’ve been gradually purging the Wii U and 3DS eshops…still lots of gems to be had. I’m even considering picking up Devils Third just as it’s much cheaper digital than physical. It’s getting close to crunch time, the end of an era!

I really need to get back to this game. I haven’t touched any of the update content yet so I have a ton to access still. These “free” updates are great tho, no complaints from me. Hopefully the online community is still active, I’m on lowly MR10 only! Capcom has done a good job supporting the title!

Time to start cleaning out those 3DS/Wii U Eshops. Recently got Zack and Wiki and Affordable Space Adventures. Capcom is running a sale as a heads up. Hopefully the eshop sees a true sale before it’s closure.
I’m late to the party but finally picked up Smash Bros Ultimate, what a gem. A true ode to gaming!
On Series X, more Dying Light 2, I’ll try out Hi Fi Rush and thinking about getting the Dead Space remake.
Strains on deck this weekend….Pink Death..it’s a heavy hitter, pure gas! MAC and Gelato 33 in the mix as well! 😎

On XSX …still playing thru Dying Light 2, recently started Red Dead 2 as well.

I’m definitely excited for TOTK in a couple of months but I’m starting to temper some expectations! The hype for this game is nigh unrealistic! It’s a tall ask for a sequel, I’m sure it too will be an amazing game as BoTW was…however I’m prepared that it might not feel as fresh and new as it’s predecessor. The game will review well surely but I’m also prepared for some 8’s and 9’s this time around. Not saying it’ll be bad!…just saying the shoes it’s attempting to fill are absolutely massive!

The final day of 2022! I plan on spending 2023 the same as 2022…living life 1 day at a time and remembering to appreciate my experiences and moments in time!
Currently my wifey is playing BOTW for her 1st time and she’s completely enthralled..it’s been a lot of fun to relive the experience through her. I still think one of its biggest reveals is the fact that Link was dating a fish! Hyrule was very progressive for its time lol! Would his daughter be named Lipha? 🤔
I’ll be ringing in the new year with some exquisite BBQ and gaming with family and friends. Like @nhSnork…I’m just going to try and play as many games as I can lol …as soon as I defeat Time of course! If Covid has taught us anything it’s that the true pandemic is our Backlogs!

Was never lured by these games, I know Golf Story is a bit of a cult classic to many so this is a disappointing follow up for them. Seemed like the devs were in over their heads this time around. Too bad for those who’ve purchased the game in its current state. Maybe now we know it was shadow dropped in the first place.

I’ve been meaning to get back into this game, haven’t played since the summer so I have a ton of update content to check out let alone completing the main story. Can’t complain about the added value, will be interesting to see what they bring in 2023..it really is a great game.

Game wise I’ve been really enjoying TMNT Shredders Revenge of late. BAYONETTA 3..the story is crazy as it should be , im still loving the gameplay throughout. SPLATOON 3 of course. Too many game options during downtime.
On Series X I’ll try out the new HIGH ON LIFE game, ELDEN RING is still in its box! My Backlog remains like time …undefeated!
On deck…Red Congo..it is better than coffee 😂 and some very potent Pineapple Express !
