Re: Yes, Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Costs $70, Collector's Edition Announced

Rainz

The outcry over the pricing is expected but ppl are straight up over reacting. It just seems petty, ppl pay hundreds, if not $1000 or more for the phone in their hand and every month they continue paying their monthly bill. Do ppl cancel their cell phone plans when they go over by $10? Exactly. How are you gonna clamour over a game for over half a decade , then turn around and refuse to purchase it over $10? Its a game ppl will invest hundreds and hundreds of hours playing, I’d like to think the $10 will be worth it.

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Closing In On One Billion Software Sales

Rainz

Think about that…close to 1 Billion units of software on one console.This is without the help of massive franchises such as COD, Madden and GTA not to mention this gen has been hampered with the chip shortages. An impressive feat with those circumstances. Such a complete contrast from the software hampered Wii U era. These figures justify my Switch backlog lol. Congratulations to Nintendo, this is a big accomplishment and milestone. Nintendoooooomed! 😭

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 4th)

Rainz

Continuing with the 3DS/Wii U Eshop purge. Out of nowhere I started replaying Kid Icarus Uprising on the 3DS…this game is insanely good. It deserves a sequel or port at least, could make for a nice launch window title on the Switch 2 😉 .

Other than that I’m picking off my Backlog targets one at a time, will dive into more Smash Bros Ultimate and will get back to some Xbox Series X gaming…all while keeping an eye out for Chinese surveillance Balloons 🎈

Enjoy the weekend!

Re: Capcom Shares Updated Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Roadmap For 2023

Rainz

I really need to get back to this game. I haven’t touched any of the update content yet so I have a ton to access still. These “free” updates are great tho, no complaints from me. Hopefully the online community is still active, I’m on lowly MR10 only! Capcom has done a good job supporting the title!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 28th)

Rainz

Time to start cleaning out those 3DS/Wii U Eshops. Recently got Zack and Wiki and Affordable Space Adventures. Capcom is running a sale as a heads up. Hopefully the eshop sees a true sale before it’s closure.

I’m late to the party but finally picked up Smash Bros Ultimate, what a gem. A true ode to gaming!

On Series X, more Dying Light 2, I’ll try out Hi Fi Rush and thinking about getting the Dead Space remake.

Strains on deck this weekend….Pink Death..it’s a heavy hitter, pure gas! MAC and Gelato 33 in the mix as well! 😎

@Meloman …No More Heroes 3, I’m sitting at 4th ranked assassin but haven’t played it in months…really to need to wrap that one up! Travis needs to be in Smash Bros!

Bless up!! Happy gaming, Happy Weekend!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 14th)

Rainz

Heyo! We’re halfway thru January already!….2023 ain’t playing around!

Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, TMNT (guess we’re starting this with a rhyme!) and of course still trying to beat the REAL final boss….The Backlog!!

On XSX …still playing thru Dying Light 2, recently started Red Dead 2 as well.

Strains on rotation-Gary Payton…so we’ll balanced! Red Congo and some Root Beer Float and Pink Death for the evenings!

Happy Weekend and Happy Gaming!

Re: Random: It's Now Been 6 Years Since Zelda: BOTW's 'Switch Presentation' Trailer Released

Rainz

I’m definitely excited for TOTK in a couple of months but I’m starting to temper some expectations! The hype for this game is nigh unrealistic! It’s a tall ask for a sequel, I’m sure it too will be an amazing game as BoTW was…however I’m prepared that it might not feel as fresh and new as it’s predecessor. The game will review well surely but I’m also prepared for some 8’s and 9’s this time around. Not saying it’ll be bad!…just saying the shoes it’s attempting to fill are absolutely massive!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 31st)

Rainz

The final day of 2022! I plan on spending 2023 the same as 2022…living life 1 day at a time and remembering to appreciate my experiences and moments in time!

Currently my wifey is playing BOTW for her 1st time and she’s completely enthralled..it’s been a lot of fun to relive the experience through her. I still think one of its biggest reveals is the fact that Link was dating a fish! Hyrule was very progressive for its time lol! Would his daughter be named Lipha? 🤔

I’ll be ringing in the new year with some exquisite BBQ and gaming with family and friends. Like @nhSnork…I’m just going to try and play as many games as I can lol …as soon as I defeat Time of course! If Covid has taught us anything it’s that the true pandemic is our Backlogs!

Strains on deck…Root Beer Float, Gary Payton, Pink Death, Pineapple Express to name a few to ring in the New Year! Enjoy your lives responsibly, Happy gaming and New Year!

Re: Review: Sports Story - A Long-Awaited Sequel That's Sadly Not Up To Par

Rainz

Was never lured by these games, I know Golf Story is a bit of a cult classic to many so this is a disappointing follow up for them. Seemed like the devs were in over their heads this time around. Too bad for those who’ve purchased the game in its current state. Maybe now we know it was shadow dropped in the first place.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 17th)

Rainz

Congratulations everyone..we made it to yet another weekend. The final weeks of 2022!…almost hard to believe. Best of luck to all football/soccer fans..France vs Argentina tomorrow, NFL fantasy football playoffs start for many!

Game wise I’ve been really enjoying TMNT Shredders Revenge of late. BAYONETTA 3..the story is crazy as it should be , im still loving the gameplay throughout. SPLATOON 3 of course. Too many game options during downtime.

On Series X I’ll try out the new HIGH ON LIFE game, ELDEN RING is still in its box! My Backlog remains like time …undefeated!

On deck…Red Congo..it is better than coffee 😂 and some very potent Pineapple Express !

Happy Weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 10th)

Rainz

First off….condolences to all the fans of England and Portugal for your loses! It’s been an entertaining WC!

This weekend I’ll be killing Salmonids with reckless abandon during the Big Run event. It’s been a blast so far and is a great challenge. I’ve taken advantage of the current Partners Sale on the eshop. Added Portal and the Goose game amongst some others. Bayonetta 3 will continue to get some reps, great action game…quite unlike anything out at the moment.

Series X..more Dying Light 2, Vampire Survivors here and there and I should probably start Elden Ring…apparently it’s pretty good ? 😝

U know me!…strains on deck Cherry Mints, Root Beer Float and LA Kush Cake 😉

Happy Weekend to all!

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited To See Call Of Duty Return To Nintendo Platforms?

Rainz

This is good news for gamers, not sure why there’s so much hate for COD. I get it’s skipped Nintendo systems for sometime now but I don’t get how ppl would think this is bad. The opportunity to play a portable version of COD is good for Nintendo and the COD franchise. This commitment does seem better suited for the next iteration of Nintendo consoles, it would fill a void that was left vacant for years. Having the option to play and access more games on your console shouldn’t be a negative thing. I’m mainly a Nintendo and Xbox gamer so I’m completely fine with this announcement, no harm no foul!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 3rd)

Rainz

It’s blistering cold this weekend…think planet Hoth! Good time to stay in and get some gaming done. Have been checking out the newly updated ‘Chill Season’ features in Splatoon 3. I’ve finally given Bayonetta 3 some quality time, the combat is truly sublime in that game. I’ll also try and finish up No More Heroes 3 and Luigi’s Mansion 3. I just realized all those games are 3’s! I’ve recently started playing DownWell…it’s simple yet addicting..feel almost bad that I purchased it awhile back on sale for a little over $1!

On Series X I’ll continue with Dying Light 2, Vampire Hunters…another addicting gem! Might also give Elden Ring a go as well.

Hey congrats to you all for making to the weekend!!
Happy Gaming!

Re: The Nintendo Switch Was One Of The Top Black Friday Purchases This Year

Rainz

Didn’t bite on any OLED deals I figure a new Nintendo system will be announced within 1-2 years so I’ll hold out until then. I did grab a bunch of Series X titles…finally picked up Elden Ring and MW2 on sales. My Switch backlog is pretty hefty and I think I’m reaching my saturation point with Switch games. I’m really just waiting on BOTW 2, Metroid Prime 4 haha!…and likely whatever the next mainline Mario game is.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Surpass 10 Million Sales In First Three Days, Setting New Nintendo Record

Rainz

@MajorTom, @Jeronan

This exactly! It’s great the game has proven to be a financial success but what hypocrisy within this industry. Game Freak won’t ever have to issue any public apologies for rushing a currently broken and unfinished product..it’ll just be more accolades and incentive to keep selling gamers hype over quality.
I’m not exactly sure what it is when it comes to Pokémon, it’s a decades old franchise so it’s a misconception that’s it’s only played by kids yet it’s a franchise where complacency seems to be widely accepted! 10 Million in 3 days and the holidays rush isn’t even in full swing.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 19th)

Rainz

I’ve been continuing my play through of Luigi’s Mansion 3, it’s just such a high quality piece of software through and through. Been playing Bayonetta 3 in small snippets, enjoyed what I have played. I’m already halfway thru Catalog 2 in Splatoon. Think I’ll finally try out some Salmon Run and finish the main story.

On Series X Deathloop, Vampire Survivors and Guardians of the Galaxy will get some quality time.

Sad to hear the disappointment many have with the recent Pokémon releases. Hopefully Game Freak gets the message…but they probably can’t hear the complaints with all that $ in their ears.

Some cultivar strains on deck for elevation this weekend lol…have a good one everyone!

Re: Review: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet - An Open-World Poké Playground Full Of Promise (And Tech Issues)

Rainz

Never got into Pokémon or played the games but this franchise appears to be shrouded in complacency. Been hearing the same complaints about Game Freak for years and yet ppl just continue to buy them up. Perhaps some of the more critical reviews will shake things up at Game Freak but for a franchise of this magnitude this shouldn’t be acceptable. For a franchise that should be growing and evolving this seems to be heading towards a more regressive and stagnant approach. Too bad for those who are eargerly anticipating this release.

Re: Splatoon 3 'Chill Season 2022' Update Announced - New Weapons, Stages, Game Modes And More

Rainz

Awesome news! Looks like Splatoon will follow a Seasonal pass regarding the updates! This game still needs a proper voice chat though, let alone the Switch in general. It would be neat if they would post the number of players who participated in Splatfest. It would actually be smart of Nintendo to use events like Splatfest for advertising! Not annoying sponser ads but how cool would it be if they premiered trailers for new games during these events. Would be kind of cool to watch mini trailers while your awaiting matchmaking in between matches. All in all this game will be a much different game by next summer! It deserves its recent success, there’s a player on my friends list who’s hit 550hrs already and it’s only been out 2 months!…this update only ensures their family will likely never seen them again lol

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games

Rainz

Metroid is likely a 2024 title, perhaps it’s the Switch’s swan song title before they finally announce the Switch successor which probably won’t release until 2025. They can still maintain momentum with Zelda and Metroid Prime 4 in the pipelines, not to mention next years Mario movie let alone if they announce a new Mario game, movie tie in or not.

For those disappointed about Advance Wars..look on the bright side…when it’s released it will more then likely be the absolute best version of the game. It’s not like they just stopped working on the game. They’ve had plenty of time to refine and perfect the title, imagine the amount of content and DLC they’ve had time to cook up. It could be more than well worth the wait.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of September 2022

Rainz

Very impressive numbers, especially being console exclusives. Imagine these numbers if MK8 or Animal Crossing etc. we’re multi platform releases? Close to crossing 1 billion in total software sold is also an insane attach rate. You really can’t argue it, Nintendo has the most diverse and literally the most accessible video game console around. A litany of high quality titles that can be played anywhere, it’s quite the value proposition. It will be interesting to see what transpires over the holidays, they’ve been “winning” the past few Black Friday and Holiday sales, with this impressive build up of games from Xenoblabe 3 to the upcoming Pokémon title they are set for the years’ end.

Re: Review: Signalis - Brilliantly Tense And Surreal Sci-Fi Survival Horror

Rainz

@kurtasbestos, @Thaswizz, @Picola-Wicola
Kindest of thanks! I couldn’t agree with you more. I guess some ppl just need a reason to justify their TV purchases with all the focus on ultra high def resolutions. Too much focus on just higher specs and prettier graphics and before long developers won’t even know how to make games anymore just pretty cutscenes lol. We’re already starting to see these big AAA releases, overhyped only to be all specs and no soul in the final package.

Regarding Signalis I’ve already downloaded it on GamePass (for the higher resolution of course! ) definitely looking forward to the game. It’s been just a monster last few months for the Switch, it’s some kind of time to be a gamer!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 29th)

Rainz

@Guitar_bard

Glad someone else is enjoying Alien Isolation, such a great port on the Switch. Still one of my all time fav survivor horror games…I still have a couple of the DLC to complete too.

If you’re looking to compare it to Dying Light they are very different, whereas Alien Isolation is very much a sort of suffocating and claustrophobic experience being trapped on a space ship….Dying Light offers a more brutal open world experience. It’s a very good game, more action paced and variance, it can be a tense game but not as eerily suspenseful and isolating as the Alien experience is. Both are high recommends

Re: Review: Signalis - Brilliantly Tense And Surreal Sci-Fi Survival Horror

Rainz

@Dr_Luigi

Indeed, gameplay is King! Not disregarding the importance of performance in a game. I admire great looking games like any gamer would. I’m more so speaking to this fixation that games of today are only considered playable or good if they support ultra high def resolutions. As I was saying , resolution is important to the overall aesthetics of a game it’s just not a defining feature for me. I’ve never purchased or replayed any game because of its resolution.

@Vyacheslav333
Made no mention of the Switch’s screen size. I’m just saying there’s a reason there isn’t a list of the “Best 1080p/720p/480p Games of All Time” because in the end the resolution is not a defining feature of a video game. I’m not saying stuff like performance and frame rate don’t matter, just saying try not to judge a game by its resolution, u will miss out on some absolute gems! 4K, UHD, 1080p, 720p are features I used to buy my TVs/monitors not my video games.

Re: Review: Signalis - Brilliantly Tense And Surreal Sci-Fi Survival Horror

Rainz

@Vyacheslav333

Don’t get too caught up with the “P” game..720, 1080, 480. Who cares, just enjoy the game! Your favourite games should be defined by the gameplay experience not their fidelity. No one goes back to replay a game because its 1080 or 720. Personally I just don’t want you to miss out on some excellent games solely because of some measurement of display assigned to a screen.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 29th)

Rainz

On Switch I’ll be starting up Bayonetta 3, likely continuing with Splatoon 3 and will eventually get around to playing my copy of Nier. I recently picked up Return of the Obra Dinn on sale in the eshop…that game rarely gets discounted! I’ve been playing through Luigi’s Mansion 3 and what an amazing game. Still feels criminally underrated and under appreciated, it’s a real gem. Switch has been blessed with an amazing release of games to end the year.

Xbox Series X-I’ll look to get back into DeathLoop, Guardians of the Galaxy and might check out the new Requiem A Plagues Tale. Might even fire up Alien Isolation for a nice weekend heart attack!

Strains on deck this weekend: Root Beer Float, OG Kush and some killer Do Si Gmosi for those sativa connoisseurs

Happy Gaming!

Re: Poll: Is The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Good Enough Value Yet?

Rainz

The Expansion has value but it’s overpriced. I just paid $180 for 3 years of Gamepass which has immense value. The slow drip release of games isn’t very enticing. The MK8 tracks are a nice add but overall there’s just not enough overall value, not to mention the online multiplayer aspect is near non existent. The retro games are great but that wears off quickly. As of right now I can’t justify renewing it for next year.

Re: Memory Pak: 50 Shades Of Morally Grey In Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

Rainz

@MeloMan

Playing 999 was like playing a reaaaallly good book you just can’t put down. It’s really more of an experience than it is just a game. How has it not been produced into anime series or movie form?Seems like a perfect premise for a streaming service series. For those with a 3DS this is a title to grab before the Eshop closes.
