Re: Super Mario Movie Secures Most Successful Opening Weekend For Any Animated Film, Ever

Rainz

@MarioBrickLayer
Yeah I’m not expecting anything outside of Mario on the big screen within the next 3 yrs. They won’t dare rush it just like their software. I would just be cool to seen them diversify their feature film outings amongst various studios as opposed to everything being under the Illumination umbrella.

Regarding a Smash/End Game not what I’d want either but they have the foundation and wealth of characters to pull it off. It could be its own spinoff series on its own if they wanted. They have such a massive trove of characters to pull from.

Re: Super Mario Movie Secures Most Successful Opening Weekend For Any Animated Film, Ever

Rainz

@MarioBrickLayer
They can go in so many directions! They could gradually introduce characters with future releases and lead up to a giant Smash Bros finale. It’d be like their Avengers End Game. They can stick with Illumination for the Mario franchise but I’d probably cry tears of joy if they did a Zelda animated film with Studio Ghilbi or something. Splatoon would be really cool, huge hit instantly in Japan especially. They have been trying to build lore within that franchise so perhaps they start with a TV series? Kirby is another character that could be an instant on screen success

Rainz

@IronMan30
Ironically this new found revenue will be massive for Nintendo, some of that will hopefully be invested towards Switch 2. Perhaps this will encourage them to not skimp out on as many multimedia features on future devices being that
they are now in the realm of multimedia

1 idea that could EASILY be introduced is Nintendo offering Video on Demand via Nintendo Online Subscriptions, imagine The Mario movie releasing first or simultaneously as other providers via the Switch or an online Nintendo app. They’d charge more but you’d be getting Nintendo movies and games, a unique value proposition for them

Re: Super Mario Movie Secures Most Successful Opening Weekend For Any Animated Film, Ever

Rainz

This guarantees a sequel at the very least. Nintendo is officially a Hollywood, Video Game and Amusement Park Juggernaut. It’s like they looked at Hollywood and said “Hold my beer and controller!” For those disappointed in the lack of story/character development…this was never suppose to be a psychological deep dive on Mario. That can all be explored in future releases. This is quite an impressive feat! Sony must not be thrilled with having to compete with Nintendo dominance in the movie industry as well

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle

Rainz

This movie is GREAT film. For any fan of Mario/Nintendo it is absolutely crammed with relatable references, it’s an extremely well done ode to the franchise. Go see it for yourselves, don’t let these early reviews sway you. Why this movie is being knocked for not having a story is absurd!…what Mario game was story ever the highlight??…it’s always been about the gameplay and the spectacle that is the Mushroom Kingdom. There’s enough story there to keep viewers engaged in its characters, even enough to say it’s an origin story of sorts. The cinematic landscape it’s officially limitless for Nintendo. This is a quality film through and through!

Re: It's Official, E3 2023 Has Been Cancelled

Rainz

@Dev9417
It is pretty crazy to think that Nintendo opting to go with a “digital presentation” with an E3 Direct back in 2013 essentially killed E3 a decade later. They had the foresight for sure. It’s another industry innovation of Nintendo’s as it evolved how companies communicated with media and gamers. I will miss E3 as it was like a massive poker table where the Big 3 and Devs would sit down and show their hands so to speak. It was the biggest public celebration of video games for some time so that annual gathering of nerds will be missed 😆. Just a matter of time before E3:The Documentary is released tho. Gotta wonder what Reggie’s body will be ready for now?

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Gameplay Trailer Drops Tomorrow, 28th March 2023

Rainz

I’m going to do the unthinkable and go in completely blind with ToTK. That’s a tough task in todays world. Might as well throw my phone away to accomplish it. This “Direct” is tempting but I’ve waited 6 yrs already, what’s 1 more month?!

To those looking to go in blind I’d recommend avoiding this website for sometime as you know they will have countless analysis and tear downs on every single clip of animation 😂 , then the speculative articles to follow up. Glad they are teasing more details but I’m just going to back to slaying my backlog until May 12

Re: 39 Best 3DS eShop Games You Should Get Before They're Gone Forever

Rainz

Luckily I’d been snagging games over the course of the year whenever they were on sale so already had a good portion off my list. I was considering getting Devils Third on Wii U or FE: Awakening on 3DS…still mulling that one over, gonna come down to the last second! Nintendo needs to post the past years Eshop sales and revenue from 3DS/Wii U , likely staggering numbers

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 25th)

Rainz

@Nf157
I salute you for slaying the ultimate gaming boss…The Backlog! I’m on my way! But the Beast ..it keeps growing, it has even regenerated part of itself with that superb remastered release that is Metroid Prime. 20 years later it’s still a classic. Between the storylines of Bayonetta 3 and No More Heroes 3 my mind is funked! There is no way u could explain those games to someone without laughing 😂 .

This weekend 3DS and Wii U will be getting money like it’s 2013 again!..but this will also strengthen many a Backlog across the globe. I’m laser focused on cutting down this monstrosity of consumerism..until it casts a carpal tunnel spell on me 😝!

Again, happiest of weekends everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 25th)

Rainz

I’ve been laying an open handed slap to my backlog this week. Completed METROID PRIME REMASTERED, BAYONETTA 3 and NO MORE HEROES 3. I’ve recently started DISCO ELYSIUM and will shore up some last minute games before the Eshop closes.

It would be interesting know how much revenue Nintendo has generated just off Eshop purchases since announcing its closure.

Have a fun weekend!

Re: Nintendo Switch Successor Chip Rumours Are Doing The Rounds Again

Rainz

@old-dad
This exactly. The speculation is fun but this is getting out hand. Just wait for Nintendo to announce the new hardware when it’s ready. It’s getting sad seeing ppl torture themselves over mere rumours and speculation. Besides don’t all these ppl have immense backlogs they’ve yet to play through ? Should keep everyone occupied until the Super Switch is formally revealed. Until then, this is all just useless hearsay.

Re: Best Deals And Cheapest Games In The 3DS & Wii U eShop Sales

Rainz

@raplhdibny

That’s a bit strange that UK/Europe aren’t included at all for the Capcom sales. Sometimes NA gets the sales , sometimes it’s Europe. Hopefully they do something last minute, I’ve snagged all the Ace Attorney games on the cheap and I’ve never even played the series. Fingers crossed this week wields more sales for everyone

Re: Best Deals And Cheapest Games In The 3DS & Wii U eShop Sales

Rainz

I’m starting to think a major reason why we aren’t seeing more Eshop closure sales is due to Nintendo fearing too much traffic will crash the servers. Sure we’d get the sales but locating and downloading the games would likely move at a snails pace , which would just end up frustrating the FOMO base even further.

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom: Expect New Gameplay That Will Change The Game World

Rainz

@Shepdawg1
I’m ok with going in blind for this game, I trust the Zelda team that much. It sounds as though the gameplay will provide players with near limitless opportunities. That’s enough for me. This will not be just some continuation of BOTW…it’s sounding like a true evolution of what many consider to be the greatest game ever made. I’m ok with being pleasantly surprised, we get over inundated with trailers and spoilers for all forms of media these days hence you feeling “antsy” about this sequels low key approach. This is a nice change of pace

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

Rainz

@CharlieGirl

Yes prices go up over time, this is nothing new. I can understand frustrations over price increases but it’s $10. If you can afford a Switch or whatever other console , you can afford the $10. Besides it’s not like Nintendo or any anyone else is forcing you to buy games, if the pricing is so offensive u can simply opt to not buy it or just wait for a sale. End of story.

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

Rainz

BOTW is widely considered one of the greatest games of all time. I don’t know why ppl are still whining about this game being $70. You don’t have to buy it, plain and simple as that. Groceries have gone up in price..did you stop buying food now too 😂? Gas prices are up too!…guess they’ll choose to walk now. Smh. This is getting so overblown, it’s the price they’ve set for 1 game it’s not the asking price on all games as they repeatedly stated.

Re: Microsoft "Confident" Activision Could Optimise Call Of Duty For Nintendo Switch

Rainz

@MrHonest

I did clearly state at face value Microsoft APPEARS that way with all the concessions and long term deals with other platforms to ensure CoD is as accessible as possible. Not a blind statement in anyway but nice job cherry picking the quote 😝!

Secondly I never blamed Nintendo at all for preying off of nostalgia. Simply that it’s apart if their business model. Obviously if there’s a market for , any business would pursue it.

Now…about that bridge u have for sale …lol

Re: Microsoft "Confident" Activision Could Optimise Call Of Duty For Nintendo Switch

Rainz

@ThomasBW84

Indeed the fear of mass consolidation in the industry is a threat that likely will not benefit gamers or the industry as a whole. This is a massive acquisition, no doubt. I don’t view it as a hostile acquisition as MS trails behind Nintendo and Sony by quite a significant margin. The idea is to remain competitive and at face value it appears MS is willing to continue to share these IP’s with all gaming formats.

What would be interesting is seeing the reaction if it was Sony acquiring these publishers. If Sony did it most ppl would expect them to make those acquisitions exclusive to the Sony ecosystem, no way Sony pays that much $ just to share with its competitors. It’s intriguing to say the least. I agree with you in the sense that sole ownership over multiple large scale devs/publishers is not healthy for the industry. If it goes thru, we shall see if MS stays true to their word or not.

Re: Microsoft "Confident" Activision Could Optimise Call Of Duty For Nintendo Switch

Rainz

It’s nice to see members of the “Big 3” collaborating as opposed to all the money hatting, back door dealing and fueling the fanboys and girls base against each other. This is great news for Nintendo platforms, even if you don’t like COD games, the increase in variety, especially in the form of a AAA 3rd party franchise is a positive. With the trove of Nintendo 1st and 2nd party exclusives mixed in with an expanding offering of quality 3rd party titles…there isn’t a better positioned video game company than Nintendo.

Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On Metroid Prime Remastered Physical Release

Rainz

@Liam_Doolan
How about a write up exploring the real issue with Scalpers….the Buyers! Seems like a messed up bunch no? The real mystery group led by their not so mysterious leader FOMO! It’d be interesting to get a better understanding of why these ppl continually choose to feed Scalpers when they clearly don’t have to, such as the case here. This seems like an episode for an Ace Attorney game. Also..Mr Doolan…I’m assuming your preferred Splatoon weapon are the “Doolies” ha!

Re: Video: Splatoon 3's Inkopolis Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch & Wii U)

Rainz

@hippoeater
They were thinking money $$$!! If u think about it only 13M Wii U’s were sold so this trip to Inkopolis will be new content for many. It is an odd DLC from them, they are usually pretty good with added value in their add on content. I’m sure Side Order will be worth the wait, and hopefully they can add more to the Inkopolis cosmetic makeover. Right now this expansion appears as a money grab

Re: Splatoon 3's Second Big Run Event Is Coming Next Month

Rainz

Nintendo has been doing a good job of keeping things “fresh” thus far with Splatoon 3. The new King Salmon Run looks pretty cool, should be another fun Salmon. I’m still a bit confused on what the point is to Wave 1 but Side Dish does look interesting. March should be fun start to the new season, hard to believe it’s been 3 months already since the last season update. I don’t think Nintendo was playing around about their strategy to continue to support its evergreen titles to close out Switch. That Switch 2 won’t be out until 2025 folks 😝

Re: Watch Out, The Kraken Is Making A Comeback In Splatoon 3

Rainz

This is my kinda news! I used to love this special back in Splatoon 1. Before it got nerfed it was near impossibe to stop 😂, I can understand how many victims oppose to this announcement. I’m all for any new specials or weapons added. Now if only they can do a better job explaining these upcoming expansion DLC…wave 1 seems underwhelming if it’s simply a return to Inkopolis as a hub. Side Order had more Octo Expansion vibes which I’d be all for.

Re: Video: Everything The February 2023 Nintendo Direct Didn't Tell You

Rainz

I initially scoffed at Nintendo’s 10 year plan for the Switch. Now I’m thinking 10 years isn’t that much of a stretch at this point. I think 8 yrs is the sweet spot before any new hardware is announced. They just said they still believe there’s room to grow sales with the Switch and they haven’t even introduced a price cut yet so I believe them! I agree and think Nintendo will let Zelda and the Mario movie carry most the of this years momentum, then I could see a swan song year in 2024 with a steady stream of quality software before they introduce Switch 2 in 2025.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 11th)

Rainz

I’ll be fighting for that milk chocolate 🍫 life during Splatfest. That Nintendo Direct will have my Backlog levelling up soon, and my bank accounts levelling down 😂. Bayonetta 3 and Smash Bros get the rest of my Switch attention.

I really need to give my Xbox Series X more attention, Hifi Rush and need to get back into Dying Light 2 and start Elden Ring!

Strains on deck this weekend ….Tropicana Gold, Kush Mints and some Tiger Crane 💨

On the real, positive thoughts and prayers for those lost or being impacted by the earthquakes!

Life is short! Hope u enjoy everything you can this weekend!
