If every game was available on every platform, I for one would be happy about that. The more accessible gaming is to everyone, the better. While I love my Nintendo exclusives, and I have been there for the launch of most Nintendo platforms, I would have no problem playing them on a "non-Nintendo"-branded platform. I do think exclusives as a concept is antiquated in that they more or less "force" you to buy and play on a specific piece of hardware, and sooner or later, Nintendo most likely WILL follow suit if they want to reach an even broader audience. It won't be anytime soon, but give it time...
I bought Strania The Stella Machina EX on my original Switch, and was gonna play it on my Switch 2 once I upgraded... Still doesn't start from what I can see.
@poyo_pie I actually want them to restore the intro from the PS1 original. They dumbed it down and took out all the puzzles in the 3DS remake. Baffling decision to me, because aside from that I prefer the 3DS version in every way!
@scoobdoo Falcom is a small studio, and they put their money where it matters, in the gameplay. No, it's not the shiny new thing, but these games are a ton of fun to play. Don't write them off before you try them. Ys VIII for example really is one of the greatest action RPGs ever made!
While not officially released, the game, to my knowledge, was still completed and thanks to the emulator community fully playable, and that's Bound High!, a game that arguably is one of the top games of the system!
@Mana_Knight Nah, it's the third entry in Capcom's Magical Quest series. The SNES version never left Japan, but the GBA port did. Really sollid platformer, highly recommended!
According to the Japanese site, physical is only for Switch, PS4 and PS5. No physical Switch 2 edition.
And when looking at language support, only PS4 and PS5 have English support, while Switch only has Japanese and Chinese.
EDIT: For those who were considering a Japanese import that is.
@IronMan30 If one is so obsessed with labeling games as art, maybe that says more of people's insecurities about having their hobby accepted in a broader social aspect. As long as the game keeps me glued to the screen, I couldn't give a toss about if it's art or not.
Second half of the game is the most drawn out stuff I''ve ever experienced in a game and serves only to pad the playtime. It was excruciating. Don't get how anyone could have greenlit that.
This was one of my favourite games of last year, only really let down by having to revisit every single village you've rebuilt after almost every level to fill up your ability points to give you the best possibilities to reach previous level's optional goals etc, which I felt really hurt the replayability. Don't know if they ever fixed that, but if they added a "collect all" prompt on the map to instantly fill it up from all the levels instead, it would have saved the game a lot of time and made it so much more fun! Apart from that, kinda big oversight imo, it really is an excellent, unique and shockingly fun game that I highly recommend. DO NOT sleep on this one!
This feels so clickbaity. The Switch 1 will live on for at least a few more years, and many people will be content and not upgrade at all and still have a viable platform with many new releases going forward. The Xbox One and PS4 are proof enough that just because the next generation is here, it doesn't mean the old one can't still thrive.
The Japanese cover is one of my all time favourite game covers. Western one isn't bad, but having the complete image in the Japanese one gives it that extra oomph!
LRG has had so many shady business practices, especially lately, that I just can't support them in any way as it stands. It's good that they use real cartridges, but they've lost my trust already. That ship sailed a long time ago.
Pikmin 4 is basically perfect already. Just give us a locked 60FPS in a little higher resolution, that really is all I need. If they wanna add mouse controls, fine, but I didn't mind the original controls at all.
It really does feel cheap putting ten games per collection, especially considering how random the selection of games is. I bought myslef one of those NeoGeo minis, and that contains around 50 games. I'd buy a collection like that in a heartbeat. This however won't get a single penny from me.
I'll use my Switch 2 for first party exclusives, and since Nintendo seem to be sticking to regular game cards for their releases, I don't think I'll be getting any key cards. Everything else I just buy on deep discount Steam sales.
Good thing they're fixing the lighting with the modern visuals. Wish they could go back and adjust the original trilogy a bit more on that front as well. Still way too dark in certain spots when compared to the original visuals.
@joey302 Fairly certain it's just more modern arcade titles that just never met performance targets on Switch. While Ridge Racer is primitive by today's standards, it still demands quite a bit to run great in MAME for example, more than the original Switch could handle.
Fairly accurate list imo. Still love the first Wario Land the most followed by Wario Land 4. Master of Disguise is still fun, but deserves its bottom spot, and the rest are more or less interchangable to me. Great series! Hope the missing ones land on NSO soon.
Nothing against Limp Bizkit, but considering the excellent music AND vocal tracks present in the games, why not take one of those instead. This just feels... off.
@MirrorFate2 it's not up to Namco's own standards, and it truly pales in comparison with R4, but RR64 is still a solid and fun arcade racer all the same. Happy to get this one!
@Frailbay30 I can definitely see where you're coming from, and on the whole, I tend to agree. When compared to any other narrative medium, the best videogames have to offer usually fall very short of what the best in other areas have to offer. There are exceptions of course, and speaking about Sakaguchi in particular, the author who penned the short stories present in Lost Odyssey were truly amazingly well-written and touching, but that really is the exception and not the rule.
@Haruki_NLI Unfortunately, gamers are a weak bunch when it comes to principles. I'd love for all that you mentioned to go away, yet as you say, they keep selling, the model is working, and if a company can make more money, you bet your behind they will try. I very seldom buy games on release day any longer, since.. A) A lot of games are buggy messes on release today B) I will get a better price AND game experience if I wait. Wish more people would follow suit...
@Dazman Sony once released a from the ground up built remake of Shadow of the Colossus... $40. Activision of all people released, once again, from the ground up built remakes of two beloved platform trilogies. Three games per package... $40. DKCR is a great game, and if you haven't played it before you're in for a treat, but what is basically a no frills port which doesn't seem to have much effort put into it, $60 feels like a robbery.
@Haruki_NLI Yes, let's just stop critizicing Nintendo for business practices no other publisher in the industry would get away with. Honestly, selling these games for MORE than they cost on previous platforms without any significant additions or upgrades is just shameful... The original on Wii was a great game, the 3DS port ADDED stuff and still came out cheaper, and this is just the 3DS port in high resolution and 60FPS and it's fair that we should pay more? No wonder Nintendo get away with this if people keep paying these premiums.
@gojiguy which is baffling, because the arcade game House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn is EXCELLENT. How they greenlight this when compared to that is mind-boggling.
"May seem a bit too simplistic compared to later entries" This is, say it with me, NOT. A. CON. The straightforward nature of the game is one of its biggest strengths. I've actually taken a break from Ys X for the sole reason that it keeps interupting me with overly long cutscenes which brings the pacing of the game down to a crawl. THIS is how an Ys game should be! Brisk, quick, to the point, challenging and FUN. I've played through the entire series except for X, and after VIII, this is by far my favourite of the bunch!
@HammerGalladeBro I just bought myself one of those little NeoGeo Mini cabinets. Includes KOF94-2003 and more or less every great fighting game, and Metal Slug 1-5. It's a novelty for sure, but I'd much rather play on that little machine than buy these collections which just feel like SNK played spin the wheel when it came to game selections.

Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Gets Free Switch 2 Performance Patch
DQ3 and FFT get free updates.
Romancing SaGa 2 gets a paid update.
Octopath Traveler 0 and DQ1 & 2 won't get anything, you have to choose one version and stick with it.
By now it just seems like Square Enix are playing spin the wheel with this decisionmaking...
