@Agramonte I guess I just see something you don't. To me the texture work, 1080p resolution bump and added effects really contribute to make MHXX quite an impressive game. I'd never consider this to be a "lazy port". Could have been better, sure, but it's evident that quite a bit of work was put into this.

@EDF Sure, the Switch can do better, but for what it is it's still really impressive and easily bests anything seen on the Vita. The Vita would not be able to run this game at this level.
I'd compare it to Dragon Quest Heroes. Compare the Vita and Switch versions and tell me honestly which one comes out on top.

@Bunkerneath I can see a point to this. It's an interesting look at how far handheld gaming has come in these last few years and what an enormous step forward this signifies.

@CapitanFalcon Games were generally more expensive during the 16- and 32-bit eras though, especially during the 16-bit one with cartridge prices going through the roof (DKC anyone?). Now we have lots of small, affordable experiences, we have a large spectrum of games and pricing.
A golden era? For Nintendo perhaps, as they offer innovation and refinement in their experiences that I haven't seen in a long time. For the competition however, even if the games are good, they're basically just more of the same, only prettier, and doesn't really strike a chord with me.
So I'd say it's a bit of a mixed bag. I haven't played as much as I've done this year for I don't know how long. I've neglected my other hobbies just to try to keep up, and it's refreshing to feel that sort of excitement for gaming again.
As a Nintendo fan, I definitely consider this to be a golden era!

I already had a Japanese account for my 3DS, so with that and my EU account, I just had to create myself a US one as well. Now I have access to all three regions easily.
Tried the demo. A bit disappointing that it only runs at 30FPS, as this looks like it could easily hit 60, but apart from that it seems like a great port and it works like a charm on the Switch.
Now how about that localization, Capcom?

I'm currently playing 11 on my Metal Slime New 2DS XL and I'm really, really loving it. About 14 hours in so far and it's allaround a fantastic game!

@marandahir I would assume so. The prices are too varying to just be virtual console releases, but they actually match up with the mobile ports.
If so, then we could hope for a western release as the translations are already done!
I have 1-3 on my Android phone, but I'd gladly pay for 3DS versions just to play with a d-pad and buttons.

1500 Yen for a Famicom virtual console release is all kinds of crazy.
I'd be so happy if they'd release the 25th Anniversary Collection for the 3DS. That was the one that was released on the Wii and contained both the Famicom and Super Famicom versions of DQ1-3.

This seems exactly what I've been looking for!
I want a hardware-based SNES clone with HDMI for my SFC carts. Is this the only choice so far or are there other alternatives? Hardware-based that is. I don't want emulation.

@Reignmaker The Bioshock Collection on PS4 is on two Blu-ray discs. We're talking upwards three digit GB storage here. I find it very unlikely that we'll be getting those on a single cart, or even as a download only considering the space restrictions on the Switch.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's the Ezio Collection, but I'm crossing my fingers for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, which would be perfect for the Switch!

For me, the unlocks are just a bonus. I buy them because I think they look awesome and I love displaying them.
It is fun to use their functionality, but if you're buying them just for that, then I feel a bit sorry for you.

@Sveakungen It's definitely NOT 60FPS. It does however looked like a locked 30.

I've already got the Japanese Dragon Quest Heroes double pack, so I feel kind of covered in Musou goodness until Fire Emblem Warriors releases.

@thesilverbrick A lot of high profile Japanese titles have scrapped the 3D feature as well. Dragon Quest XI, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, Layton's Mystery Journey, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology and Pokémon UltraSun/UltraMoon don't support the feature.
It's a shame, because I'm right there with you, 3D is awesome and made even better on the New line.

I tried out the New 3DS in stores, but I just couldn't come to grips with it. It was just too small, both the build of the console and the screens.
The more noticable shortcomings of the resolution on the larger screens really doesn't bother me at all, never has.
For me, it really was a no-brainer to go with the New XL. I bought it on day one, and even replaced it once the lovely Hyrule Edition was released over here in Europe. I even got HORI's Monster Hunter X-grip which makes it bulky as you wouldn't believe, but it feels REALLY comfortable to hold, and my hands aren't enormous by a long stretch.
The New 3DS XL really is, by far, my favourite console of all time, and I've been playing games for over 30 years now!

@Rei I think you'll only need one system. In the Yo-kai Watch 2 Link option on the main menu, you can choose between "Link Alone" and "Link with Someone". So if you own two games and one system, you're good to go! At least that's how it works between Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, and I'd be very surprised if it didn't work the same way in Psychic Specters.

@KirbyTheVampire That would be a boneheaded decision by Nintendo. The 3DS family still accounts for around half of Nintendo's total revenue and it's still doing very well. The 3DS will be around for this and next year in full force before we can start talking about giving up the ghost.

The screens on the regular one has always been too small for me.

IF (see what I did there?) Fates would come to the Switch, the ONLY thing that would make me upgrade would be if it included dual audio. Otherwise I'm more than content with my limited 3DS complete edition.

@TruenoGT If you're thinking of picking up Psychic Specters later on, at least in the Japanese version, there's an option to have all your save data transferred over to Psychic Specters from Fleshy Souls/Bony Spirits by installing an update to those games. That's reason enough for me to upgrade, knowing I won't lose all my progress. Then I can sell my Bony Spirits copy and recoup some of the double-dipping cost.

So I guess that from now on, Europe and the US will have almost simultaneous releases of the games? That would be great as it really sucks having to wait for like half a year or more here in Europe.

@Kalmaro They released two versions first, like Pokémon does. Fleshy Souls and Bony Spirits. Psychic Specters is basically a "complete" version similar to how Pokémon Platinum and Emerald were.

I want to know more about the game before I pre-order. Loved Sun & Moon, but if it's just more of the same with hardly any differences, then I might just pass.

@Bengals76 I absolutely agree that we shouldn't make the move to 4K before 1080p 60FPS is a universal standard. If you can achieve 60FPS in 4K with today's hardware, then by all means have at it! Microsoft has succeeded with Forza Motorsport 7, but if you're moving to those resolutions and not hitting 60FPS, then your priorities need to be checked.
Framerate beats resolution every day of the week!

@GameOtaku Capcom recently issued takedowns for the subtitled playthroughs of The Great Ace Attorney on Youtube, so that could be an indication that it's finally on the way.

How can the article refer to this game as a "spin-off" when it is literally the fourth game in the series (In Japan it's called Gyakuten Saiban 4).
Since the localization is already done, here's hoping that it will get here swiftly.

It's a great collection in a stylish package, and playing this with the Pokkén controller just feels "right". A few hours into Seiken Densetsu 3, which I played fan-translated back in the day, and it's still a really great game!

I'm getting one almost solely for the fact of the Dragon Quest-theme. I was thinking of upgrading my regularJapanese 3DS to a Japanese New 3DS XL... and then the metal slime one was announced! I couldn't resist!

Having both the PC and the 3DS versions, I can't justify buying this again for the Switch. It is an incredible game though so if it's your first outing, then absolutely get it!

Just the fact that I can use the Pokkén controller for any game I want to now is great news. It really works wonders for 2D games!
