@Roger_Brazil I can see you never played the original Gimmick. While the main character looks similar, the game plays nothing like a Kirby, and it's waaaaaay harder.
Randy Pitchford needs to just go away. Year after year the scandals and controversies just keep piling up. Right now, he's nothing more than an embarrasment.
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot I've got a region-free blu-ray player, so I know all about the region locking. It was the fact that UHD discs can seemingly be locked as well that I reacted to, as I for sure thought each and every one in that format was supposed to be region free, as that had been previously claimed, which makes this news really disappointing.
@Spider-Kev A bit off topic but really? I thought 4KUHD were region free as a standard. Are you saying there are locked discs anyway? If so, then that's some really unfortunate bs!
@Bratwurst35 because Activision lost the Marvel license and didn't bother to renew it. The Octopath games are wholly owned by Square Enix, so no licensing arguments should be able to happen here.
Xbox set a great precedent for consoles and backwards compatibility, and the PC space is leagues ahead. Nintendo is the only platform holder where I haven't jumped ship 100% yet, and that's because of the uncertainty of how they've handled things in tha past. With the Wii, 3DS and Wii U eShops closing so soon after the platform has been discontinued, it does not instill confidence in me that Nintendo has a long-term plan for these games and purchases. I will probably buy more games digitally on Switch 2, as there just isn't a future for physical, but I'd be worried for my Switch 1 digital purchases once the inevitable successor to the Switch 2 rolls around...
@Serpenterror That won't happen. We may see a Bayonetta 4, but not with Kamiya's involvement. He left PlatinumGames because of the direction the studio was heading. Have a hard time thinking he'll ever go back to work for them.
They don't care. Some do... Look at M2 and their masterful ports, or the above examples. Final Fantasy and Chrono don't need quality ports, their brand is strong enough to sell anyway. Why put in the effort and extra money when you have a guaranteed smash either way?
@geox30 Gatekeeping much? If they could figure out a good way to make it work on future consoles I'd be all for it, and I DO own a Wii U AND this game. That's just a selfish remark, like a child who won't let others borrow their toys. So the Wii U flopped, does that mean that the gems available on it should be lost to history? Come on, dude!
Time to update the Silksong info? It's coming to Xbox Game Pass day one it was announced this Summer, and also, the Xbox showcase only showed games that would release in the coming 12 months, so unless something happens, it WILL be out before July 2023.
Except for the titles already released stand alone on the Switch, I hope we'll see Cotton Sonic Pocket Adventure Faselei Crush Roller Include those and we have everything we need!
@PessitheMystic yeah. Not only did they make GG Aleste 3 from the ground up, but also other games such as Gradius Rebirth, Aleste Branch and Senjin Aleste among others, so they have the expertise and the know how.
@PessitheMystic Be aware that the game is unfinished, which means this "bonus" only gives you access to the game's first level and nothing more, unfortunately. Would have loved to have M2 finish the game, as they definitely have the chops to do so!
@Doctor-Moo Wouldn't say that. It's a Taito release, and ININ/Strictly Limited have a great working relationship with them. M2 and Taito collaborated on the Darius collections as well, and they made their way to the West too. I think there's a big chance this will get localized and released over here.
@KingMike Yes, it's the same game, only this is the arcade version and its two sequels, and I'd much rather put my money on M2's work than the one City Connection just gave us. Not that it's BAD, but because M2 usually has a much higher quality standard.
Sure is wierd that Mars Matrix isn't included. It's a high profile title running on CPS2 and from what I gather ISN'T tied up in legal shenanigans... There are still a couple of games that really should have been included here... Ring of Destruction: Slammasters II Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper I get that basically all the remaning high profile CPS2 titles are mostly licensed titles, which would make the rest a real problem to license, but I hope they're not lost in time forever (apart from emulation that is)

@Nintendo4Sonic Came to the comments to say just that. Zero is imo the best in the franchise (yes, I've played through all of them). Possibly a tie with SF643D. Great game once the controls start to stick, although, to be critical, that takes quite a while.

Re: Twin-Stick Shoot 'Em Up 'Raiden NOVA' Rated For Switch By The ESRB
Really hope the Switch can handle this in 60FPS. If not I'll await a PC release.
Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection Physical Pre-Orders Are Now Open
@johnedwin No, it wasn't, sadly. The regular Symphony of the Night is on Xbox, sure, but not the Requiem Collection which included both SotN and Rondo of Blood. That was a PS4 exclusive.
https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Castlevania_Requiem:_Symphony_of_the_Night/Rondo_of_Blood
Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection Physical Pre-Orders Are Now Open
@johnedwin Doesn't seem like it. Seems like Sony hs some sort of exclusivity on that one... It only did release on PlayStation 4.

Re: House Of The Dead 2: Remake Gets Rated For Switch By The ESRB
They better keep the voice acting from the original, or this will just fall flat on its face.
Re: Video: Donkey Kong '94 - The 101-Level Sequel To Arcade DK
The best game on the entire system, and one of my favourite games ever. Pure gaming brilliance!
Re: Developer M2 Wants To Bring More Games To The Switch
I would buy Ketsui, Battle Garegga and Dangan Feveron day one without hesitation. I will ALWAYS be there for more M2 ShotTriggers!

@Spider-Kev Man, that really sucks. I for sure thought that with UHD we were finally past the region locked nonsense...

Re: Former Switch Exclusive Octopath Traveler "Delisted" On The eShop, But There's No Need To Worry
@PKDuckman Triangle Strategy as well. Octopath 2 s the only HD-2D game Square Enix has published on the Switch themselves outside of Japan.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Hopes To Return To The Video Game Industry In 2024
@Yalloo He was the supervising director, so still heavily involved I'd say.
I just know it was included in an arcade version...

Re: Upcoming Dragon Quest Game Scores Physical Switch Release With English Language Support
Already pre-ordered the Japanese version. According to the eShop listing, that one too will have English language support.
Re: First-Person Action Platformer Neon White Scores A Physical Switch Release
@sikthvash I have the European Ori 1 & 2 collection, and I know that Cuphead shipped out on time as well.
Re: First-Person Action Platformer Neon White Scores A Physical Switch Release
Getting a regular retail release in Europe as well. Just checked on game.co.uk and it's releasing in September.
Re: PlatinumGames Announces Next Instalment In "Neo-Classic Arcade" Series On April Fools' Day
@N00BiSH Sol Cresta now runs flawlessly on the Switch. It got patched and properly optimized. Nothing to worry about there any longer.
Re: Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Gets Reborn In High-Resolution This June
@Nebnosneh There will be an English-friendly physical release in Japan, but not for us in the West. You could always import. I will.
Re: Level-5 CEO Teases What's Next For Yo-Kai Watch

@Serpenterror Why? That just sounds like gatekeeping to me.

@CharlieGirl I ordered volume 1, the Japanese copy, from Play-Asia
https://www.play-asia.com/neogeo-pocket-color-selection-vol-1-english/13/70ef95
The second volume isn't up for preorder yet, but should be soon I guess.
EDIT: Volume 2 is live as well now!

Re: SNK's Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol.2 Announced For Switch
Japanese physical version releases March 2nd. I'll be getting that one, as I did with the first.
Re: Feature: "I'm Hugely Disappointed We Did Not Make It In Time To Get Into Smash Bros." - Yoko Taro Talks NieR:Automata On Switch
At least she got into Soulcalibur. Good enough, I guess.
Re: Sonic Frontiers On Switch Will Be The "Same Experience" As Other Platforms
To be fair, the Switch version looks kinda solid from the leaks. The framerate seems to be at a mostly stable 30FPS. The pop in is horrendous though.
Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports
Ninja Gaiden is mostly fine though? A few hiccups here and there, but overall a fairly good port job I'd say.
Re: Bandai Namco Releases Switch Demo For Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival
@JayJ I've got the drum, but I actually really like playing it with touch controls as well. With buttons however, that's a big no no!
Re: Persona 5 Royal Switch Special Edition Will Take Your Heart, Pre-Orders Open
@Vyacheslav333 According to the eShop, there will be. Hopefully it's not an optional download either since it's listed in the game's description.

Cotton
Sonic Pocket Adventure

Re: "Screw This Game" - Sonic Origins Modder Halts Development On Massive Patch
Anyone remember this?

We're hearing how Stealth and his team had to rush development of Origins, and the state of Frontiers isn't looking great while Sega keeps saying they're aiming for a 2022 release.
In other words, guess Sega lied...
Re: Taito & M2 Bringing Shmup Collection 'Ray'z Arcade Chronology' To Switch
@PessitheMystic yeah. Not only did they make GG Aleste 3 from the ground up, but also other games such as Gradius Rebirth, Aleste Branch and Senjin Aleste among others, so they have the expertise and the know how.
Re: Taito & M2 Bringing Shmup Collection 'Ray'z Arcade Chronology' To Switch
@PessitheMystic Be aware that the game is unfinished, which means this "bonus" only gives you access to the game's first level and nothing more, unfortunately. Would have loved to have M2 finish the game, as they definitely have the chops to do so!

@Doctor-Moo Wouldn't say that. It's a Taito release, and ININ/Strictly Limited have a great working relationship with them. M2 and Taito collaborated on the Darius collections as well, and they made their way to the West too. I think there's a big chance this will get localized and released over here.

Ring of Destruction: Slammasters II

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper

Re: Pokkén Tournament Won't Be Supported Competitively After 2022 Championships
Pokkén is for me one of the most underrated fighting games out there. It's great and I wish more people would give it a chance.
Re: Switch Online's N64 Update Is Live (Version 2.3.0), Here's What's Included
@Atariboy I have the Japanese Rumble version... but no rumble pak. XD

@Hank_Scorpio This! Wave Race 64 is my favourite game on the console, and the licensing shouldn't be a problem, as they replaced the billboards in previous VC releases.
Good thing I already have an original copy and the Wii U VC release, but more people need to experience the magic of WR64!
Re: Atlus Wants To Know If You Would Like More Nintendo Switch Games
This is such a dumb thing to ask for... I mean, by now Atlus should have sales data to prove if people want to buy their games on Switch or not.

Re: Gallery: Check Out This Stunning Kirby Collection On The Series' 30th Anniversary
@NerdyBoutKirby I've got that one, cart only though, which is a bummer, but I can't justify a CIB copy for the crazy prices it's going for!
Re: Gallery: Check Out This Stunning Kirby Collection On The Series' 30th Anniversary
My Planet Robobot nendoroid mecha, probably.
I do have more or less all the games as well, in one version or another, and I love my collection.
Re: Fantasy Metroidvania 'Ender Lilies' Gets Physical Release From Limited Run
Aaaaand of course it's LRG. That's a no buy then.
