With both Arms and Ultra Street Fighter 2 announced for release early in the system's release, I can understand not releasing or even announcing ports of Pokkén and SSB for the Switch yet. I bet they're coming, but I think they'll want to space them out a little so that not all the fighting games are released in a short span and end up competing against each other.
In all honesty, Hyrule Warriors Legends really should have been a New 3DS exclusive. It looked almost unplayable on the old model. Glad they seem to have rectified it with this game. Not that it matters to me anyway since I'll be getting the Switch version anyway.
What I want is a collection of the Sonic games remastered by Christian Whitehead (1, 2, 3&K, CD) AND Sonic Mania, all with 3D support. That would be a perfect package and the ultimate Sonic 2D collection imo.
I'm going to go ahead and say that it depends on the game. For plattformers, fast-paced action and racing games etc. it makes sense to go 60FPS because of the added response time it gives you, but in slower, more methodical games, I don't mind having a more detailed exterior if it means halving the framerate. As long as gameplay isn't compromised, it really should be done on a case by case basis.
I Nintendo can churn out 3-4 Mario Party games for any given console generation, I don't see why they couldn't give us at least 2 Mario Karts or SSBs...
I will miss having inventory management handy. Games such as the Zelda remasters and Xenoblades Chronicles X used the concept in such a great way, but for pure gameplay, the way Wii U was, I think I'll be just fine without it.
Pokkén is probably my favourite fighter from the last few years. The lack of characters hurts a bit for sure, but the gameplay is really addicting. I picked up the HORI controller as well, which is excellent, and also doubles as a great old school PC-controller. Hoping the DLC characters will see the light of day in the home version as well. I'm thinking they'll release a bundle with everything once the 3 or 4 DLC characters have arrived at the arcade.
I'll pick up the physical Striker Pack version once it hits here in Europe. I haven't played any of these games yet, but I do love me some Mega Man Zero, so this should be right up my alley.
While I do love the game and while I do want it on the 3DS (live in Europe, so not yet), I've yet to buy a Konami-developed game digitally on the console because #noprofanity
I'll keep my sweet, sweet memories of it instead.
I'll pick it up for sure, but the replacing of an actual, existing orchestral score in favour of MIDI really is inexcusable no matter which way you put it.
Does that mean I can finally get the "meet 100 visitors in one day" schievement? That felt like an impossiblity here in Sweden before, and even moreso lately as a lot of Nintendo zones have disappeared.
The logical thing to do would be an F-Zero, but Nintendo's never been one for "regular" logic, so it probably isn't. I'll keep hoping that it is indeed F-Zero though. Can't wait for the physical release of FAST Racing NEO to keep my speed cravings in check until that happens.
I've played some of Wario Land VB on emulator and I would gladly pay Nintendo for a VC version on 3DS. If there ever was a system made to emulate VB games, 3DS is it. I can understand not doing it though, as putting resources into creating an emulator to only run a handful of games doesn't seem that profitable, but here's hoping!
Contra 3 is an amazing game... but it's also developed by Konami, and Konami is the worst, so I won't be getting it and supporting that sad excuse for a company.
Oh, and [removed]
@NicolausCamp: We all love Konami, but please watch your language - Octane
What I'd really like for Nintendo to do is to release patches for old games to take full advantage of the N3DS hardware. As has been mentioned, Luigi's Mansion 2 could really benefit from an improved framerate, and especially Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is in dire need of upping its framerate (but that's Konami, so that'll never happen), or retroactively adding in c-stick support for say Ocarina of Time.
Being Swedish, the title sounds really goofy, but for everyone else it might sound totally exotic or something... Funny how language works. For those who don't want to take a second to use a translator, the title literally means "Space Journey"
I haven't spent any real money so far and I never will, and the only thing I've missed was the Lucario stone. Got all the safari pokémon, got Celebi easily and just caught Mewtwo. I've only got five more expert pokémon left to catch (need to S-rank like 20 or so more stages to be able to reach Expert stage 21). I'm getting coins from Meowth and grinding experience on Ampharos. A great time-waster I think.
I've captured Cherubi and Spinda, but Spinda just keeps coming back. 4 times in a row now! I've met Carvanha once and the other two haven't appeared at all yet.
@Bass_X0 Because now 60Hz is the standard here in Europe. DVD's are still in PAL format, but blu-ray's etc are 60Hz. Even the Wii U is a 60Hz console, and most of the VC releases are too, but a handful of them aren't, and I won't be supporting that practice. I'd much rather just put my money on what I think they're doing right. I would have bought this had it been the NTSC version, but since it isn't, I won't. I also won't be losing any sleep over it, I'm simply just stating my principles.
@Gerbwmu I haven't played them, no, I said that they"seem to differ from one another a lot more than the Pokémon games". I did say that this one didn't justify two releases, and that wasn't really thought through, sorry 'bout that. From what I've gathered, the beginning of these two Fire Emblems are the exact same game before branching off. I don't know how big a part of the game we're talking about here. Either way, I hope that when it launches outside of Japan, we will get the complete package with all three stories on one cart. I don't really think Fire Emblem is established enough outside of Japan to really warrant this kind of experimentation, and it might end up alienating potential buyers, as has already been seen on most game forums around the net.
Well, the releases do seem to differ from one another a lot more than the Pokémon games, but they probably should have been one game. When looking at Starcraft 2 for comparison, that at least had three highly distinctive campaigns and really did justify it being split in three, this one... doesn't.
Well, it is an objectifying game, and that's nothing new, but this is a bit on the extreme side, and I think that's why this one is brought up. Personally, I'm disgusted by this sort of game, but it's par for the course in Japan I guess, which just goes to show how behind the curve they truly are when discussing gender and objectification. I'm personally trying to avoid supporting this kind of game as it doesn't give me anything personally, same thing with excessive violence. The expceptions would be games like Bayonetta and DMC. Brawlers that are so over the top, and are so self-aware of what they actually are and what they represent. Bayonetta herself and Dante, they aren't "sexy" per se, and their unnatural attributes just sort of fit in the completely bonkers world that they inhabit. They are in charge of themselves and they own their sexuality and use it to their advantage. Anyone who takes any aspect of those games' storytelling seriously is doing it wrong. This however... this is just sad...
Had to beat Kyogre four times before I caught it, but every time I had over a 50% catch rate. I haven't spent a single penny on the game but I have been playing a lot and built up some pretty strong mon now, so this wasn't really any trouble at all.
I'm a bit split. Sequels in their very nature very seldom feel justified for being outside of making a quick buck, but at the same time, they can represent an improvement based on the feedback from the first installment. No one really likes Assassin's Creed, the first one, for example. It had a lot of promise and some great gameplay mechanics that just wasn't used to anywhere near their full potential. Enter Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, and we can see how Ubisoft really tried to perfect what they had. It's really hard to make something great on the first try, but then again, on the flipside, you're bound to in some ways get stuck in a rut and restrict yourself as a creator when dealing with a direct sequel. Oh well, rant over.
Playing and not paying, and I've put in a lot of hours so far. It's a great little game but the limits imposed by microtrasactions does hurt it a bit. Wish they could be a little bit more generous, like being able to save up 10 hearts instead of 5 and not having to wait 30 minutes for them to replenish, but rather 15-20.
I'm hoping the Virtual Console gets a bit of an overhaul. I haven't bought anything there yet, but make the portable library available on the Wii U and vice versa, and then introduce crossbuy, linking a game purchase to your NNID so that you don't have to buy every game twice. I can only speak for myself, but that would make me buy A LOT of VC titles.
I'm voting Mario 64. Had the DS game, but as has been mentioned, the lack of analogue control hurt the experience. For F-Zero, I'd rather see an HD remaster of GX on the Wii U.
