Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

Markiemania95

Super Metroid, Undertale, Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. All four of those games were such refreshing experiences the first time through, and are of course still great subsequently, but I think those are the ones that replays will never quite capture the magic of again.

Re: Feature: 16 Best Nintendo Switch Soundtracks Of 2023

Markiemania95

@thesilverbrick I would personally disagree, I felt that much of the music from both the base game and the DLC was annoyingly repetitive. Although I think that the Gen V battle themes were remade decently, I feel that the various BW tracks shoehorned into the Terrarium BGM were mixed in poorly - it feels forced and really unnatural, like yes, I get it, this is in Unova. Legends Arceus was a much better example of subtly remixing Gen IV tracks (granted, I’m sure development of that game had a much higher budget and definitely had a longer time cycle than Indigo Disk). I’m actually unsure if Toby Fox was responsible for the Terrarium’s music, but I’ve felt ever since the Battle Tower theme he composed for Sword and Shield that his compositions for Pokémon do not fit, and I am really not a fan. His Undertale and Deltarune OSTs are fantastic, but I personally wish Game Freak would drop him. I understand I’m in the minority with that opinion, though.

With that said, the Academy music is also a rare banger in Scarlet & Violet. If that’s a Fox track, then that’s a redeeming quality.

Re: Super Mario RPG Version 1.0.1 Released, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Markiemania95

@Truegamer79 Keep trying man, you’ll get there. The only thing I have left to do in the game is get all 100 possible coins on Midas River, which I am hating. One thing that they should have patched in is the ability to restart a minigame, rather than have to leave the area entirely, reselect that area on the world map, and then go through the whole process of beginning the minigame again, only to be asked if you want the rules read to you for the billionth time…

Re: Soapbox: Donkey Konga Introduced Me To One Of My Favourite Songs Ever

Markiemania95

@Olliemar28 “The Western release of Donkey Konga contained a mix of covers and Nintendo music, with artists like Blink-182, Kylie Minogue, Willie Nelson, and Queen all making an appearance”

None of Kylie’s songs appeared in either the North American or European editions of Donkey Konga 1 or 2 🤔 also the Willie Nelson track is exclusive to the North American version. It was replaced in Europe.

EDIT: I assume you’re referring to ‘The Loco-Motion’ for Kylie, but that was first performed by Little Eva.

Re: Zelda Producer Responds To Fans Who Want A More "Traditional Linear" Adventure

Markiemania95

No shade on anyone that prefers traditional Zelda, but I personally hope they’ll continue in the same vein as the Switch instalments. I’ve played most games in the series, and the only one I could actually see through to the end before getting bored is Majora’s Mask. I agree with others above that Aonuma’s comments regarding more restrictive gameplay only being a bad thing are just flat-out wrong (if said comments are translated correctly), but in this particular case, I think the open-world freedom is fantastic and I welcome more of it.

Re: Wario's New Voice Actor Seems To Be Confirmed

Markiemania95

Honestly? I actually think it sounds better. I still think Martinet was fine, but I think his Mario voice has been faltering a little bit ever since Galaxy, and I thought his Wario sounded really off in WarioWare Gold (maybe because he was speaking in full sentences). I personally think Afghani’s attempt at actual conversation in Wario’s voice sounds much more like the grunts and grumbles we heard from Wario 20-25 years ago though, and I think he’s got the classic Wario laugh down pretty well. I prefer the deeper voice that actually gives him strong, gruff, intimidating energy, rather than the high-pitched whiny angle that should be reserved for Waluigi.

Re: Community: Played A Great Switch Game We Missed? We Want To Know!

Markiemania95

Ultimate Chicken Horse is a glaring omission from Nintendo Life’s current reviews. I used to work at a hostel, and it was one of the games that was in constant rotation alongside the likes of Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party. It’s also one of my most-played games online with friends today. Honestly, Mario Maker missed a trick not including a game mode like UCH’s main Party mode. Personally, it’s a lot more fun than MM.

Re: Video: 20 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In October 2023

Markiemania95

I’m definitely getting Mario Wonder, Detective Pikachu & Sonic this month, but I ticked Batman too as I’ll pick it up in the future for sure, but I’m unsure whether to wait for a sale or not. I love Asylum & City, but I’ve played the Arkham games before, so the former three titles take precedence for me. MGS3 is a maybe, if there’s a future sale.

Re: Poll: What Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 6 DLC Racer Are You Most Excited About?

Markiemania95

@Giancarlothomaz Metal Mario has been around since ‘96, and has been playable in other spin-offs such as Golf and Dr. Mario, so he at least has some connection to the actual main series. I’m assuming PG Peach, Peachette, etc are part of a push to include more playable female characters in the franchise, such as Toadette and Daisy in SMB Wonder. Even Smash has had its percentage of playable female fighters shoot up in recent years.

Re: Video: We Share Our Thoughts On Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom After 100+ Hours In The Game

Markiemania95

I’m over 400 hours in, and while it’s definitely a 9/10 game at least, I still feel like BotW is better, as others have said above. I got that feeling only like 15 minutes in, and the more I play, the more convinced I am of that. I’ve played through BotW 5-6 times, but I’m not sure if I ever see myself running through TotK again - it’s nowhere near as replayable.
