@spacemoe505 This is how I feel about Xenoblade lol, but I know a lot of other people on this site feel the same way about Pokémon and Animal Crossing, which are 2 of my favourite IPs. It’s never gonna be able to cater to everyone.
Unless anything drastic is announced in this Direct, I’m still firmly in the camp of sticking with Splatoon 2. I might get the new Pro Controller, but that’s the furthest I’m gonna go atm.
Honestly I’m really impressed by Sydney Sprint, Tour is the only Mario Kart game I’ve not played, so it’s brand new to me. Way more fun and interesting than Tokyo Blur & New York Minute.
@KateGray Not sure if it’s just the formatting on my phone, but the Grusha tweet is posted twice, the second time under the ‘Flying Pikachu might be a reference’ heading, instead of what I assume is meant to go there.
In regards to Wooper, I believe its dex entry is probably just flavour text, but if not, it actually wouldn’t be the first time Pokémon can be encountered with a status condition; headbutting trees at night in Gen II can sometimes produce sleeping Pokémon.
I’d say my Panasonic Q and its controller is at the top of my collection, but I also have an NA Virtual Boy, ASCII GameCube Keyboard Controller, Korean Pokémon Silver, Pokémon event distribution cartridges for Celebi & Keldeo, the Club Nintendo-exclusive Game & Watch Collection, and a few Japan-exclusive titles such as Pokémon Green, Pokémon Blue (JP), Pokémon Stadium (the predecessor to the Western game of the same name), Rhythm Tengoku, Kururin Squash, Donkey Konga 3, Nintendo Puzzle Collection, & Doubutsu no Mori e+ (with its e-reader + & hundreds of Animal Forest e-reader cards).
In terms of merch, I’ve a bunch of items from UK Club Nintendo, Pokémon Centers in Japan (such as the Mario x Pikachu collection), & Shigesato Itoi’s Hobonichi MOTHER Project.
As people have mentioned memories or sentimentality, I suppose that would either have to be the Pikachu-in-a-Snorlax-Sleeping-Bag plush that I won 1st try on a claw machine at the SEGA arcade in Akihabara, or my photo on Instagram of my pre-unboxed Limited Edition Mario Kart 8 for Wii U that only 4 users have liked… but one of those is Masahiro Sakurai’s official account 😱
@russell-marlow Actually nothing about being salty haha, the comments were largely pretty similar to yours, regarding the tenuous link between the article and Nintendo games
Probably DS or Wii for me. First video game I ever played was Super Mario Kart, and it's the only one I've still never managed to beat (can't do Donut Plains 3 on 150cc Special for the life of me); I've played every game in the series except Tour. Double Dash and 8 Deluxe are good fun locally with friends, but I personally find that the dual item mechanic often makes things too chaotic (which as I say, can be fun with friends), and makes the gameplay sometimes lean more towards luck than skill (which I'm sure is what Nintendo is going for).
@BabyYoda71 I think that it’s either retail in only some regions, as you say, or that it’s an error in the PR statement.
@dkxcalibur The last part of your comment is the exact reason I dislike all of these downloadable Kirby games that have started getting pumped out as of the 3DS era. They’re great little additions to the main Kirby games, but standalone, I personally don’t find them worth the price of admission. Clearly many disagree, as they wouldn’t keep making them otherwise, but yeah
@Olliemar28 @Highlar What’s the source for it releasing at retail? The YouTube video’s description states that it’s exclusive to eShop, and the trailer stresses that it’s for download.
@MJL As @Trebor stated… are you sure you bought an NSO SNES controller and not a wired one for the SNES Mini? @Olliemar28 may want to change that affiliate link ASAP before people rush and make that mistake
It’s around 1,000 total. I moved 300-something onto my laptop when I was running out of room on my previous, smaller SD card, but there’s now about 600-800 on my Switch since then
Possibility it’s anything to do with the upcoming DK park at Super Nintendo World, and impending DK character-themed bands to go along with it? They can communicate with phones (and maybe the Switch) right?
It’s called *Wide Care, as it states in the image imbedded in the article. I assume ‘Wild’ is a translation error copied over from Video Games Chronicle.
Probably Pokémon Legends, then either Mario Strikers or Portal Collection, haven’t had enough of a chance to really try too much of the latter yet. Couldn’t get into Kirby at release, I’ll have to try again soon.
@iLikeUrAttitude Same, I honestly don’t get the hype lol. Watched friends play both of the Zelda ones, and the gameplay just doesn’t really seem that interesting to me at all.
Louarn seemed relatively unconcerned with Nintendo's eagerness to end his exploits: "They hate me. I bet that in Tokyo, they posted my picture in an office.“
After making a living from pirating their products for 30 years, you’d think he might know that Nintendo HQ is in Kyoto 🤔
@KingMike Yeah. So we’re in agreement? Unless you’re stating that the Cerulean & Cinnabar are the only in-game trades that were changed, I’m not disputing any of that haha. I own and have completed English Red, Blue & Yellow, and JP Green & Blue. I’m stating that it’s as different to Red & Green as those two are to each other, and of the 4 Gen I versions available in Japan, it’s JP Blue that we didn’t get, because Western Blue is effectively the same as Green, aside from bug fixes and different sprites.
@Zenszulu Literally the only difference are the sprites and the bug fixes lol, the latter of which is extremely common in the localisation process of any game. It’s akin to saying that the Japanese and Western versions of Super Mario 64 or Super Smash Bros. Melee are completely different games because some bugs were fixed and the Topis look different on the latter’s Infinite Glacier stage. Nobody is going to play both Japanese and Western Red and think “ah yes, these are two completely different games”. Most people that have played Western Blue would play the Japanese release and realise that some of the Pokémon that could only be obtained by trading with NPCs, such as Lickitung & Jynx, are now catchable, multiple Pokémon are encountered in different locations, & there are Pokémon from both Red & Green/Western Blue that are missing. JP Blue is and always was intended to be Japan’s ‘3rd Version’ of Gen I; Yellow is just an addition to that.
@Zenszulu You wouldn’t really say that if you’d played them all. Sure, Western Red & Blue were based on Japanese Blue’s build, thus have the same sprites and are (slightly) less buggy, but in terms of the version exclusives, the Game Corner prices, the in-game trades etc, Western Red & Blue is identical gameplay-wise to Japanese Red & Green. Japanese Blue is completely unique in those aspects.
“And that's how Pokémon Red and Blue (or Red and Green in Japan) came to be. One other version was eventually released - Pokémon Yellow, starring Pikachu.”
Japan actually got Red, Green, Blue & Yellow. Japanese Blue is still the only main series game that was never released in the West.
@SimonCucho Ngl, I loved Undertale and its music, but I did not like the Battle Tower music from SwSh at all and felt it didn't suit Pokemon whatsoever. At least this time it seems he composed the theme, which has then been arranged by Game Freak. I thought the music in the trailer was fairly decent.
