@GrailUK @Zeldinion Regardless of those reasons, check any other review on this site and see if the authors ever use “I” to refer to themselves. A number of articles do, such as opinion pieces, but I’d be surprised if you find a single review that uses singular first person.
@Clarice In regards to ‘we’, it’s actually pretty common practice. You’ll see it in the reviews and articles of other members of this site, like Thomas Whitehead’s, Kate Gray’s and Stuart Gipp’s. Having written reviews and articles at university, ‘we’ are told to use ‘we’.
“…in the original Money (*Monkey) Ball the next stage…”
EDIT: Seems that the second line has now been corrected, but rather than rectifying the error on the first line, ‘fair’ in a different part of the review has now been erroneously changed:
“…whether it's fare (*fair) or not that is the standard”.
@UmbreonsPapa I think any new evolutions for existing Pokémon will use new methods of evolution, such as new items, so it doesn’t have to be a retcon, just ways of evolving that no longer exist or are no longer used in modern day Sinnoh. In this case, I would assume it’s because Metal Coats do not exist yet, or at least have not been discovered, and when they were, perhaps this more ‘primitive’ Rock-type evolution just fell by the wayside? Guess we’ll just have to wait to see.
…is all I wanted to submit, but the site’s pop-up asks me if I can think of ‘someting’ more to say. So I guess me pointing out that spelling error makes this long enough.
@NEStalgia I absolutely love that this whole exchange occurred - particularly the “I'll never understand why people get so defensive when presented with new information”, only for the one who said it to do exactly that, subsequently falling totally silent upon being presented with proof. I wonder if he admitted to his wife that @samuelvictor really IS in film 😂😂😂
@SwitchForce There’s no reason they can’t be used for Smash. The controller is effectively only missing the - button, which you don’t need in Smash, and X/Y, which can be replaced by jumping with the control stick.
@SwitchForce The reason I mentioned the NES & SNES controllers are because they are not limited to only working with NSO games - as you assumed the N64 controller would be - so with that in mind, it’s highly unlikely that the 64 one will be restricted in that regard either.
As for your two ‘biggest’ factors:
1. People buy 3rd party Pro Controllers without NFC all the time. Most people don’t use it, & even those that do, do so rarely.
2. You don’t know that it won’t have rumble.
Otherwise, literally the only issue, which is what I was highlighting before, is the lack of buttons. What did you want them to do? Plaster another stick, X, Y & - buttons onto the front of the pad? Not only would they not have room to do that, but at that point, it’s not even an N64 controller anymore. None of the points you’ve specified will be reasons as to why “no one will buy it” - the most likely factors will be price, and that they only sell them to NSO subscribers.
@SwitchForce The NSO NES and SNES controllers worked for games that they had enough buttons for, like Mario Kart 8. This probably won’t be any different.
Strange, considering other initially Japan-exclusive titles such as Mario’s Super Picross, Panel de Pon and Super Puyo Puyo 2 retained their original Japanese box arts.
@russell-marlow Doubtful that would happen. Having a Japanese Switch account without NSO allows you to download the Famicom and Super Famicom libraries, and access them with your other accounts that do have NSO.
@CupidStunt Why would doing that make you lose your Gold Points? I had a Japanese account without NSO so that I could download the Famicom and Super Famicom libraries, and accessing and playing them from my UK account worked fine. I don’t understand what connection doing this would have to your existing Gold Points at all
@Scapetti And they’re also digital, which is the less-preferred option for me when the choice is there. Pre-ordering first-party games at ShopTo is only £42.85, has the option of being physical, and doesn’t require you to invest in a second game.
@mlj11 No, thank you. That has its own share of anti-consumer issues. Having the choice is fine, but an all-digital future will be the time I duck out of gaming for good.
@Sam_TSM N64’s is the Japan-only DD add-on. NES’ is the Japan-only Famicom Disk System add-on. The Switch’s is apparently the sound it makes upon its first ever boot-up.
I found this video myself about a week ago, should be noted that the Super Famicom/SNES one is just the fanfare at the end of bonus games in Super Mario World.
@ItsjustAnotherGamer Where did you see that? The Luigi one won’t even show up on the LEGO website for me. I was starting to wonder if it’s only available if you get the Mario one first?
The user BuffMaister translates these trailers as they release every day on YouTube. Not even an SMT fan, but I’ve been keeping up with each daily video via his channel.
@Torakaka Houndour/doom were in the postgame of Pearl. Given the inclusion of other Pokémon such as Numel and Slugma, I think it’s more just to do with the fact that they’re making more Pokémon accessible throughout the game via the revamped underground, more than it is about making it more like Platinum.
@Amsterdamsters Who, Anti-Matter? If that is who you’re referring to, then no, I would assume not, but my comment is more to do with his general view on other users’ usage of ROMs and emulators overall, which is evident from many of his comments on other articles and threads, rather than as a direct response to this specific story in particular.
@Anti-Matter Is it not a bit unfair then to hold people to standards that you yourself were once guilty of not meeting? Why was it OK for you to do that in the past, but not for others, now after you’ve stopped? Many people on here are younger than you, and for all you know, could be going through the same phase that you did in 2012. Personally, I’m actually the same as you, in that I prefer physical over digital, and do not pirate games. However, even as someone that obtains their software in the same way that you do, people on here should not be shamed every single time their chosen method of playing video games is brought up.
Earlier, for example, when someone mentioned game preservation, you talked about how YOU were happy to let them go when they/you die. That’s all well and good, but game preservation is largely about making software accessible to everybody, even decades into the future. If games are not preserved somehow, there are many titles (even some you enjoy) that may not be available to younger generations.
The main point is, I don’t feel like anybody is attempting to change your mind or stance, at all (again, mine is generally the same as yours) - but it comes across as insulting when people are criticised for the ways in which they access their video games.
I was born into my 3 older siblings owning a SNES, but we missed out on the N64. We all shared the GCN when that came around, but the Wii was the first home console I personally owned. My older siblings also each had a GB Pocket, but my first handheld was the GBC. The first two games that my family owned were Super Mario Kart & Super Mario Land (due to the Super Game Boy), the first game I played was the former, but the first console game I had to myself was Super Smash Bros. Melee. I believe that the first handheld game I individually owned was Donald Duck: Quack Attack.

Although the following line has now been rectified:

The following line has been left incorrect:
“Other party games fair (*fare) a little better”
And the ‘fair’ in a different part of the review has now been erroneously altered to:
“…whether it's fare (*fair) or not that is the standard”. @JonComms
