@marandahir I wouldn’t say they’re ‘a 2nd party developer for TPC’, they’re just a 3rd party developer, full stop. They existed long before TPC did, TPC simply being a partnership between GF, Nintendo, and Creatures.
Arguably the best in the series for me, other than perhaps Bowser’s Inside Story. I also felt like this game never outstayed its welcome - personally, every instalment from Dream Team onwards drags on for far longer than it needs to.
I actually play Mario Run every day, but I don’t bother with these events. Doing Toad Rally is the only way I can continue to earn enough Platinum Points to get all the NSO icons, now that Pocket Camp went paid, and FEH stopped adding new point challenges.
@FlyingDunsparce @Bustacap Just looked it up, yeah, it seems they changed it only back in September, so not that long ago either. Thanks for the heads up.
@Moroboshi876 @AussieMcBucket To bring the Game Boy in line with other Nintendo Classics NSO apps. It’s not just the GameCube that also does it, it’s the same for NES, SNES, and N64 - they use the coin sound effects from their flagship Mario games, too. Iirc, the GBA doesn’t yet, but maybe that will change soon as well.
@LazyDaisy You can still change it. Microsoft permanently locked me out of the email I had tied to my second Nintendo Network account due to inactivity, but there’s an option on the Nintendo Support site to change the email linked to your NN to a different one, specifically for reasons such as this.
To anyone saying they want to try Superstars, save yourself the trouble and don’t. Worst sidescrolling Sonic game by a mile - in fact, I’d probably rather run 10 miles than go through the buggy, boring boss battles in this game again. Such a thoroughly disappointing title.
In New Leaf, Dream Towns used ‘dreamy’ versions of the hourly music. Is this still a thing in New Horizons? I can’t remember. If so, they should add those too.
@Anti-Matter No ARMS merch in the stores in Japan either. It’s pretty much exclusively Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Pikmin, Metroid, and Kirby. They also had Famicom Detective Club goods in stock when the most recent game released.
@TheBoilerman So they’re actually two different products. The higher ones are shoulder bags, and the lower ones are cushions, with holes in the top and bottom so that you can also use them as hand warmers.
@BrokenCiv Considering the museum, art exhibitions, theme parks, movies, stores, cafés, alarm clocks, music albums, vinyl records, etc. that they’ve opened/released in the past few years… I kinda feel like now is maybe the worst time to call them ‘dabblers’.
@ArcadeSixties What games has the UK had cheaper digitally than physically prior to Switch 2? The entire time I lived in the UK (until 3 years ago), I bought almost all of my games physically because I could find them cheaper than their digital counterparts. As of the Switch 2’s release though, games being cheaper digitally seems to be Nintendo’s strategy across the board. I’m pretty sure it was the case for MK World and DK Bananza across Asia, Europe and North America.
In relation to the NSO controllers referred to in the article, it’s of course not a perfect workaround, but if anyone is planning to visit Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka/NY/SF, it is possible to buy the controllers at the Nintendo Stores in these cities, with proof of an NSO subscription (even if said subscription is from a different region) at the checkout. I managed to get the Japanese Famicom, Super Famicom and Mega Drive controllers this way from Nintendo Osaka.
@Max_the_German It’s still considered the first entry in the Yoshi series in much the same way Wario Land is the first in the Wario series though.
However, on that note, I understand Donkey Kong, DK Jr., DK3 etc all being considered by Nintendo as part of the DK series… but then where does that leave Mario Bros.? Wrecking Crew? I suppose they’re not ‘Super’ enough. That, and they’re not true platformers in the same way the games on this list are. 🤷🏻♂️
Poor. No Mario Kart World, crazy prices for Galaxy 1 and 2, boring DLC/Switch 2 content for DK Bananza and Mario Wonder. Mario Tennis looks alright, but I won’t hold my breath after the last few entries. VB is an interesting addition, but the mandatory purchase of the stand is lame. No interest in the Talking Flower, due to its lack of interactivity. I might pick up Rosalina’s Storybook. Pokopia was honestly the best thing there imo.
And Z-A... I’ve never missed a mainline Pokémon game since Gen I, but the more I discover about this game, the more inclined I am to just straight up skip it. I think the Kalos starters’ Mega Stones being locked behind online Ranked Battle rewards might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for me.
@Sylamp @PerfectFrost Yeah, I saw those, but I wouldn’t have put it past Nintendo or Yacht Club Games to include that simply because the same game is downloadable on both consoles. Having flicked back through the Direct now though, I suppose the lack of Switch 2 iconography on some of the other games’ presentations does indeed probably indicate that Mina is getting two separate versions.
@Fiergala My point was more about how Japanese people in general don’t usually ‘behave’ anywhere near as badly as those in the West when it comes to stuff like this.
@9_10DOH64 You’ve changed the goalposts. First it was ‘it’s just a few bars’, to now ‘but it’s not the whole OST’. Why would anyone want the entire OST to be remixed from previous games? That would suck. Even Mario, probably the IP that remixes the largest amount of tracks from older games in its newer entries, still mostly introduces new songs with each instalment. I think we got what the vast majority of players were expecting and wanted, which is simply a handful of nostalgic remixes.
@9_10DOH64 Then you’re not listening. I’m on the two ‘The Divide’ worlds, and can think of three, full tracks that I’ve heard from the original DKC so far, and another from its sequel.
@LazyDaisy I think that’s a good decision. Personally, at least in English, Mario and co. should sound American (or Italian in Mario & Luigi’s case), Zelda etc. should sound British. There are few things more jarring in European-inspired high fantasy than American accents.

Agree on what? That he’s a Pikmin fan? If so, then sure, I’ll take his word for it. Agree that all of us are fans of Pikmin? Not at all.
Re: Feature: The Tightest, Briskest Mario & Luigi Game Turns 20 Today And Deserves More Love
@MeloMan I think you’re getting confused with Superstar Saga. The Koopalings aren’t in Partners in Time. Are they…?

@Metazoxan It’s Koei Tecmo, not Bandai Namco.

@JohnnyMind What’s the problem? I’m glad they included that and clarified that it’s not confirmed yet. I fail to see what the issue is.

The Yoshi render in the first image also matches the one seen in the Old Spice leak, which supports its validity, if there was still any doubt.

Super Mario RPG or Super Mario 3D World.

Japan, simply because it doesn’t have all that guff all over it.

Not yahoo. Not lovely to see this one finally confirmed. It should have been on the 3D All-Stars that we already paid for. Not purchasing.
