Re: Nintendo's 'Mega Multiplayer Festival' Offers Extra Two Months On Select NSO Memberships (Europe)

Markiemania95

@JimNorman “The Mega Gold Points Promotion runs from 5th-8th August, offering additional Gold Points on all eShop purchases”

The link you provided at the bottom states that this runs from the 5th to the 18th, not the 8th. Additionally, it says ‘selected’ eShop purchases, not ‘all’.

“Then there's the Mega Free Games Trial period from 18th-25th”

Again, the link states that this begins on the 19th, not the 18th.

Re: Nintendo Live Threat Culprit Sentenced To One Year In Prison

Markiemania95

@dew12333 So you’re saying that the punishment of only 1 year in prison is too severe? For multiple death threats against potentially thousands of people? Especially after the Kyoto Animation arson attack?

‘Sticks & stones may *break my bones’ only applies to insults and name-calling. Serious threats against life are in absolutely no way similar to calling someone a stinky poo-poo head

Re: Switch Online's Missions & Rewards Adds Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Icons

Markiemania95

@Not_Soos As @YunoboCo said, if you’re ever running low, just use the FE, AC and Mario Run apps to top up. The one-time achievements for doing basic stuff like linking your SNS or even My Nintendo account usually give quite a few Platinum Points. FE is particularly great as you don’t even have to actually play it lol, I’ve had 1000s of points from that game just by auto-playing every single battle.

Re: Balatro Back On Switch eShop In Europe With New Age Rating

Markiemania95

@Dm9982 ? The slots were not disabled in the Game Corners of the Virtual Console ports of Gen I & II afaik. Can you find any evidence of this online? I know that’s the reason why the games received higher age ratings, but I have not seen any proof that the Game Corners were edited in any way for those releases whatsoever.

https://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendo-switch-family/compare (Doesn’t feature in the page itself, but the title of the page in your browser uses the phrase ‘Compare - Nintendo Switch Systems’)

https://switch.nintendo.com/kids/ “Create your checklist! You can check off Nintendo Switch systems…”

I’m sure it’s featured in other trailers and adverts too, but I’m not about to trawl through YouTube videos to prove the point more.

Re: Talking Point: What Game Do You Wish You Could Forget?

Markiemania95

Super Metroid, Undertale, Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. All four of those games were such refreshing experiences the first time through, and are of course still great subsequently, but I think those are the ones that replays will never quite capture the magic of again.

Re: Feature: 16 Best Nintendo Switch Soundtracks Of 2023

Markiemania95

@thesilverbrick I would personally disagree, I felt that much of the music from both the base game and the DLC was annoyingly repetitive. Although I think that the Gen V battle themes were remade decently, I feel that the various BW tracks shoehorned into the Terrarium BGM were mixed in poorly - it feels forced and really unnatural, like yes, I get it, this is in Unova. Legends Arceus was a much better example of subtly remixing Gen IV tracks (granted, I’m sure development of that game had a much higher budget and definitely had a longer time cycle than Indigo Disk). I’m actually unsure if Toby Fox was responsible for the Terrarium’s music, but I’ve felt ever since the Battle Tower theme he composed for Sword and Shield that his compositions for Pokémon do not fit, and I am really not a fan. His Undertale and Deltarune OSTs are fantastic, but I personally wish Game Freak would drop him. I understand I’m in the minority with that opinion, though.

With that said, the Academy music is also a rare banger in Scarlet & Violet. If that’s a Fox track, then that’s a redeeming quality.

Re: Super Mario RPG Version 1.0.1 Released, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Markiemania95

@Truegamer79 Keep trying man, you’ll get there. The only thing I have left to do in the game is get all 100 possible coins on Midas River, which I am hating. One thing that they should have patched in is the ability to restart a minigame, rather than have to leave the area entirely, reselect that area on the world map, and then go through the whole process of beginning the minigame again, only to be asked if you want the rules read to you for the billionth time…

Re: Soapbox: Donkey Konga Introduced Me To One Of My Favourite Songs Ever

Markiemania95

@Olliemar28 “The Western release of Donkey Konga contained a mix of covers and Nintendo music, with artists like Blink-182, Kylie Minogue, Willie Nelson, and Queen all making an appearance”

None of Kylie’s songs appeared in either the North American or European editions of Donkey Konga 1 or 2 🤔 also the Willie Nelson track is exclusive to the North American version. It was replaced in Europe.

EDIT: I assume you’re referring to ‘The Loco-Motion’ for Kylie, but that was first performed by Little Eva.

Re: Zelda Producer Responds To Fans Who Want A More "Traditional Linear" Adventure

Markiemania95

No shade on anyone that prefers traditional Zelda, but I personally hope they’ll continue in the same vein as the Switch instalments. I’ve played most games in the series, and the only one I could actually see through to the end before getting bored is Majora’s Mask. I agree with others above that Aonuma’s comments regarding more restrictive gameplay only being a bad thing are just flat-out wrong (if said comments are translated correctly), but in this particular case, I think the open-world freedom is fantastic and I welcome more of it.
