I seem to remember some fairly mature ads for the GBA SP in men’s magazines as well, one featuring a couple in bed and something along the lines of it being ‘nearly the best thing to do at night’ 👀

@NinjaGuy69 As stated, I see your point. I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said - in fact, I’d say I agree with almost all of it. I concur that for its base solo price (£35 here), the current state of the service is unacceptable, but in my eyes, it’s not bad enough that I wouldn’t pay as little as £7.50 for a year of it, especially when bundled with a year’s worth of a normally £22.50 DLC that I’ll personally be done with before the year’s up anyway. I completely understand if, in anyone else’s view, what is provided is still not up to par, even for a price shared multiple ways. More power to you for sticking to your guns.

Funny, because other than a few levels & races here and there in Lylat Wars and Mario Kart 64, this evening was the first time I actually sat down for a few hours with a game on the service - that game being Super Mario 64. I got 50 stars in that time, so I definitely gave it a fair shake, but the emulation is shoddy - the border suffers odd, distracting visual effects constantly, and the frame rate is all over the place. You only need to play the 3D All-Stars version to see how bad the emulation (still) is on this one in comparison.

@NinjaGuy69 I see your point, but I recently opened a family plan for it where everyone’s paying £7.50 each, and 6 of those 8 members are also getting the benefit of the ACNH DLC. Despite the emulator issues, it’s definitely more than worth it at that price (if you can find that many people that are willing to join).

I’m assuming they’re keeping the plaque? I somehow completely forgot to get a photo of it last time I was in Kyoto, despite going to and photographing Nintendo HQ at least a couple of times. I was hoping I’d be able to see it next time I return.

@eltomo You might wanna check the ‘Earn Points’ section on My Nintendo. Has a list of all the ways you can earn points there. There’s similar methods to that Pocket Camp mission through games like Fire Emblem Awakening as well.

Also would have much preferred if this was a Lylat Wars poster rather than a Star Fox 64 one, for reasons of nostalgia.

@Faruko I don’t think there was ever a question of Nintendo buying Microsoft. That is and has been a complete impossibility.

@noobish_hat Lol I hope it dies. As Duncanballs said, GAME is just absolutely extortionate to the point they could be argued to be predatory now. They know full-well that their prices are in no way competitive or fair, their main demographic has to be children, parents and grandparents that either have limited knowledge of shopping online for games, or do not have the means to do it. CEX and other businesses dealing in retro wares, in addition to smaller, independent yet competitive stores have their place, but the sooner establishments like GAME vanish the better.

I was also invited and went to that event, on my birthday on the 15th. My friend and I were (apparently) the first pair to have completed the Snipperclips demo that day, I got to try Sonic Mania & Splatoon 2, she got to try Breath of the Wild (watching her play is what sold me on it), and we both tried 1-2-Switch and ARMS, neither of which I was keen on then (or now). BotW, Splatoon & Odyssey are what kept me hopeful at the time.

@HammerGalladeBro Exactly, and for Hong Kong. Furthermore, both Taiwan & HK are literally the regions Traditional Chinese is supported for - Simplified is predominantly for the mainland. Plus, all Pokémon games since Sun/Moon (iirc) have had Chinese options. ‘Lack of games on Chinese eShop’ is certainly not the reasoning here, especially when the Xbox, a console that has not sold anywhere near as well in China, IS getting support in both relevant languages.

This is just one of those absolutely baffling SEGA decisions that they’ll probably refuse to explain unless the issue is pushed.

Personally, they didn’t follow the original concept enough - I just could not get into it, no matter how hard I tried. In my opinion, this and Yoshi’s Crafted World just have so much unnecessary faff that take all the fun out of what could be fun games, despite loving both Snap 64 & Yoshi’s Woolly World.

Two most disappointing games I own on Switch imo.

Balan Wonderworld over Bowser’s Fury seems mad to me, but then again, I seem to be the only person that prefers Sonic 06 to Sonic Colours (but that’s more because I can’t stand the latter), so 🤐

@Freek By that logic, no game or film should be criticised by anyone that isn’t a developer or director. Review sites, including this one, would cease to exist across the board. Comments like yours make no sense to me - you do not have to be skilled at creating a product to have a valid reason not to like said product.

If that was the finished version of the animation, then yike, yeah I can see why it was cut…

@tsdenizen Big disagree. Gen I wasn’t ‘super easy’, I personally found SwSh at least slightly more difficult than this, and if you turned Exp. Share off in X/Y, it could honestly actually get pretty tricky. If only that toggle still existed… 👀

Blacking/whiting out has not been an issue for me in any game (Battle Facilities aside). I had 1 Pokémon fall to Galactic’s Skuntank, and another to Cynthia’s Garchomp in this game.

@Screen Honestly, I’ve found it second easiest, after only ORAS.

I don’t mind affection going up as easily as it does, I just wish it didn’t affect battle mechanics, other than Return & Frustration. For me, the main two annoyances are all the bull**** messages that show up at the start of every single battle when I’m just trying to rush through somewhere as quickly as possible, and the critical hits that ALWAYS seem to come either when I don’t need them to (last hit the opponent needs to faint), or don’t want them to (KOing wild Pokémon I’m attempting to catch). For a game that is so much more faithful to its original incarnation than any other remake in the series, for better and/or worse, it baffles me that this was brought over.

@MrHonest In the context of the GameCube, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess & TTYD are not overlooked lol.

I have Kururin Squash & Nintendo Puzzle Collection, would like to play Doshin the Giant & Cubivore, not too fussed about the rest personally.

@Anti-Matter Garchomp, Lucario, Roserade, Spiritomb, Milotic, & either Gastrodon or Togekiss - I believe the last one depends on how many times you’ve defeated her before in BDSP, but I’m not 100% sure of that.

@Bret Not to spoil anything, but… there are some Platinum features in the game. Just thought I should clarify that before you assume that neither of those things, or perhaps other things, are or aren’t in it based on this review.

Maybe this says more about me, considering I don’t mind the BDSP aesthetic, but I absolutely loathe the art style of this lol. Not sure I could put myself through it.

@StarPoint He’s not missing the point. This has been explained to him many times, in many comment sections, over many months. He just doesn’t care. Some people thrive off the attention, and they’re perhaps best left ignored.

@NinTempo Agreed, I could be wrong, but having seen all the ‘leaked’ pre-release footage that has been uploaded by those that have played it early, I really can’t wait now.

“Lacking Platinum features” - Like what? The review just states this, but then fails to go into any detail whatsoever about what these features actually are. From what I’ve seen, it contains more Platinum features than I personally would have expected.

“Over-levelling is very easy” - Alright, that’s actually a legitimate point. My Pokémon were almost in their 90s during the Elite 4 of ORAS. Just let us turn EXP Share off already 🙄

Either way, I’m still hyped.

@somebread Yeah, “most-hated” seems really vague in this case. Where was it collected from? ‘Hated’ just in terms of coming up against them in a battle, as opposed to their design, personality or characteristics? Mewtwo, Snorlax and Dragonite are all really popular Pokémon, so I place no stock in this at all.

@thiz Yeah sorry, I don’t believe you always throw one Hyper/Ultra Ball and ‘win the game’. Sure, sometimes that may happen, but legendary encounters in Gen I were an absolute pain with them having the ability to literally dodge the ball you throw at them.

The way I read the title at first made me believe that someone had found a game for NES called ‘Roadkill’ at the side of the road. Thought that was a mad coincidence, until I clicked the article and realised what it really meant haha
