@tsdenizen Big disagree. Gen I wasn’t ‘super easy’, I personally found SwSh at least slightly more difficult than this, and if you turned Exp. Share off in X/Y, it could honestly actually get pretty tricky. If only that toggle still existed… 👀
Blacking/whiting out has not been an issue for me in any game (Battle Facilities aside). I had 1 Pokémon fall to Galactic’s Skuntank, and another to Cynthia’s Garchomp in this game.
I don’t mind affection going up as easily as it does, I just wish it didn’t affect battle mechanics, other than Return & Frustration. For me, the main two annoyances are all the bull**** messages that show up at the start of every single battle when I’m just trying to rush through somewhere as quickly as possible, and the critical hits that ALWAYS seem to come either when I don’t need them to (last hit the opponent needs to faint), or don’t want them to (KOing wild Pokémon I’m attempting to catch). For a game that is so much more faithful to its original incarnation than any other remake in the series, for better and/or worse, it baffles me that this was brought over.
Maybe we should start doing auto-generated comments. Identifying the AI’s from the authentic ones will probably be trickier than one might think, considering some of the stuff that gets posted down here 😂
@somebread Same, I’m not even that old but it’s staggering to me how many people don’t understand what it means, or realise how commonplace this is in reviews and other articles not just on Nintendo Life, not just on the internet, but literally throughout the entire Anglosphere.
@Anti-Matter Garchomp, Lucario, Roserade, Spiritomb, Milotic, & either Gastrodon or Togekiss - I believe the last one depends on how many times you’ve defeated her before in BDSP, but I’m not 100% sure of that.
@Bret Not to spoil anything, but… there are some Platinum features in the game. Just thought I should clarify that before you assume that neither of those things, or perhaps other things, are or aren’t in it based on this review.
Maybe this says more about me, considering I don’t mind the BDSP aesthetic, but I absolutely loathe the art style of this lol. Not sure I could put myself through it.
@StarPoint He’s not missing the point. This has been explained to him many times, in many comment sections, over many months. He just doesn’t care. Some people thrive off the attention, and they’re perhaps best left ignored.
@NinTempo Agreed, I could be wrong, but having seen all the ‘leaked’ pre-release footage that has been uploaded by those that have played it early, I really can’t wait now.
“The art style is a downgrade from the original” - I don’t mind it.
“No overworld spawns in Sinnoh” - Doesn’t bother me at all.
“Lacking Platinum features” - Like what? The review just states this, but then fails to go into any detail whatsoever about what these features actually are. From what I’ve seen, it contains more Platinum features than I personally would have expected.
“Over-levelling is very easy” - Alright, that’s actually a legitimate point. My Pokémon were almost in their 90s during the Elite 4 of ORAS. Just let us turn EXP Share off already 🙄
@somebread Yeah, “most-hated” seems really vague in this case. Where was it collected from? ‘Hated’ just in terms of coming up against them in a battle, as opposed to their design, personality or characteristics? Mewtwo, Snorlax and Dragonite are all really popular Pokémon, so I place no stock in this at all.
@thiz Yeah sorry, I don’t believe you always throw one Hyper/Ultra Ball and ‘win the game’. Sure, sometimes that may happen, but legendary encounters in Gen I were an absolute pain with them having the ability to literally dodge the ball you throw at them.
The way I read the title at first made me believe that someone had found a game for NES called ‘Roadkill’ at the side of the road. Thought that was a mad coincidence, until I clicked the article and realised what it really meant haha
Never was able to get all of the medals, but this game is still probably in my top 5 ever. It’s just so addicting, I remember back at college there was at least one 2-week period where I was playing through this every day.
@Longondo I visited for a couple of weeks the year before that as well. I intend on going again as soon as legally possible, if not outright move there.
@NinChocolate I don’t think it’d be strange, personally. A game based on a movie based on a game seems more odd, imo. Plus, neither the anime or live-action Mario films had game tie-ins, nor the Sonic movie, and I feel the latter was a lot more likely to get a game adaptation than Mario’s is.
4 years ago, I was only a couple weeks into my 3 month trip to Japan. Even though I’d pre-ordered this months in advance back home, I hardly even noticed it had launched, aside from adverts in 7/11. Best time of my life
@d-slice Tell me about it! I was just thinking about those the other day, as I recently got the Switch one that only holds 8. Better than nothing I suppose, but I’m sure they could hold more if they’d managed the space in the case better…
Strange, because I swear on 3DS at least, different European nations had different products on offer in their eShops, and even in the Theme Store. My 2nd 3DS is set to Germany, and I remember seeing a few items that were just not available on the UK one. Considering this, is the Switch eShop not the same, and if it is, can they not just list it in the countries’ eShops that can distribute it?
If not, I suppose the issue is that Germany legally cannot allow them to sell it, even to users in other countries, as that is where the server and/or business is based. 🤔
I won a plush of Pikachu in a Snorlax sleeping bag on my first try, on the claw machine nearest to the entrance in the SEGA building that just closed. I remember a bunch of people watching, and they actually clapped after I got it! 😂 Unfortunately, the next time I won something out of a claw machine on my first attempt, it was at a motorway service station in the UK and the prize was a Minion in a hula skirt 😒 gave that one away to my friend immediately haha
@BenAV I was about to say the same. Gen I required some grinding at parts in my experience, but other than that, all of the other games are generally a breeze.
Idk about anyone else, but I had TWENTY-TWO separate adverts for Dying Light 2 just on this page alone. I’d like to go at least 1 paragraph without having the exact same product shoved in my face again and again. This is precisely why I have AdBlock on my laptop 🙄
I’m sure every Smash fighter has at least around 18 moves anyway, comparisons to Hero aside. 5 aerials, 4 special moves, 3 Smash attacks, 3 tilts, 1 neutral jab, and that’s not even including any grabs, pummels, throws, get-up attacks or ledge attacks. 18 doesn’t sound like a lot at all lol
@RupeeClock I personally consider the LAN port a downgrade. I’d rather have the extra USB port, especially as USB to LAN adapters are really inexpensive.

@damo Do you mean “Some of Video Gaming’s Hardest Titles” rather than “Some of THE Video Gaming’s Hardest Titles”?

@Chibi_Manny It’s been 9 years. Wii U released in 2012.

@Drb It isn’t first. It says in the article that the same thing happened to PAL region servers over 2 years ago.

@Bret Ah, I’d forgotten about that. Yeah, agreed, it would be strange for it to evolve then considering that.
