Hopefully this gets a performance patch for the switch, at least for if it's played on Nintendo's next system, and I&II HD-2D perform better out the gate. Either way, guess I can retire that copy of Dragon Quest I-III I imported through Play-Asia.
It'll be nice to see that game actually finished this time around. Crisis City showed me a glimpse of a potentially great game, although an outdated life system and ridiculous load times aren't doing that stage or that game any favors.
I just finished Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days using the Melon Mix mod, which basically modifies the MelonDS emulator to display all information on one screen, play in 16:9 1080p, and replace the DS quality FMV cutscenes with the ones from HD ReMix. I still plan on completing the game 100%, but for now I'm taking a little break with Sonic X Shadow Generations! Anyway, if you're a Kingdom Hearts fan, and you haven't played KH: Days, Melon Mix is the way to go.
@anoyonmus Even then, we're talking about a mechanic based on the ability to throw an item to catch creatures, something that exists in real life. You can't pretend that these patents aren't bogus.
They literally just filed a patent for throwing an object to catch creatures. I hope they never see someone using a bolo or a net.
In all seriousness, these patents do nothing positive for the game industry, and the court should shut this down quickly. If the only infringement Nintendo can accuse palworld of are for a bunch of patents that were conveniently created after Palworld's release, then I don't think they have a case here.
I'm good with collecting the cards, but I have not played versus battles since I was a kid, and it was with my older brother and I sucked at it. I don't need to relive that experience...
@Starkiller987 if nothing else, it would be nice if Nintendo remastered some of their earlier switch games and if you owned the game on switch, digitally or physically, you could pay for a performance upgrade. This wouldn't be anything new; Sony's been doing it with games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, but I would argue that it is much more warranted with earlier Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to get a bump in resolution and frame rate.
Here's hoping the switch keeps selling well into 2025. I'd like to see it at least surpass the DS's lifetime sales, but it would be pretty awesome if it also surpassed the PS2.
And with that, Pokémon dragged me, kicking and screaming, back into the mobile gaming hell hole... I finally stopped playing Pokémon GO! over a year ago...
I chose Europe for this one. It feels more true to the game, with Pit jumping and aiming horizontally, instead of at an angle like in the Japanese version.
I was looking for something quick to play while I was doing laundry this morning, so I started up The Messenger. I bought it after playing Sea of Stars and wanting to see more of what Sabotage has made, and now I get to retroactively appreciate callbacks to this game in Sea of Stars! And it's not as brutally difficult as I was expecting it to be, which I'll take as a good thing, because I never liked Ninja Gaiden on the NES lol
I kind of hope that this means that the final boss will be as difficult as Cackletta Soul, seeing how Octopath had a notoriously difficult final boss of its own.
I feel like he definitely has something to announce, and it could be Smash related, or maybe he's retiring... Maybe Kid Icarus Uprising Remastered? Let me dream.
After getting all S ranks and pins, the only thing I have left to do in this game is buy all the icons and do a perfect all S ranks run in Legendary Trial... But that just involves replaying stuff I've already done, so I haven't really bothered with it. It would have been nice if Nintendo added more challenges to the game, maybe some new games as well. If they gave this game Mega Man or Castlevania DLC, I'd be there buying it on the eShop frame one!
Last time Nintendo remade a game that was considered a cult classic, it was a very divisive remake. I would rather they leave Zelda 2 alone, and just let a certain fan continue working on his remake.
I got a feeling that this is going to be the beginning of smart clocks, and if I'm being real, I'd prefer that to a watch any day of the week because I'm not a big fan of wrist watches.
Ordered one! One problem I had with their previous clocks, the Mario and Zelda Game&Watch systems, was that neither of them could stay 100% accurate, with the Mario one becoming desynced faster than the Zelda one, but hopefully with this one connecting to the internet, it will always be able to tell the exact time. It is kind of weird that Nintendo's been selling clocks of all things lately, but this is the first one that feels like it's meant to be a clock and not a novelty handheld gaming device with a clock.
It looks like this could get people to buy an alarm clock again; I assume most people just use their phones or a smartwatch for that, so kudos to Nintendo for taking a new approach to how clocks are made. I imagine other companies are going to see this and try to make alarm clocks that do essentially the same thing, but less Nintendo themed.
I would have two buttons for different types of Echoes, right on the d-pad for enemies, and down on the d-pad for objects. Furthermore, for enemies and beds, Echoes with multiple levels would be stacked, so you select an echo, and either let go of the d-pad button to select your most recent, or press a to bring up other variations of that echo.
I might not be down for the collector's edition, but the vinyl box set looks very appealing. I might pick up a few copies of Ultimate Edition, if only so I can get some buddies to play with online... Can anyone tell me if the online is any good here?
Speaking of things that are "Ultimate," Dotemu is doing a third physical release of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, dubbed the "Ultimate Edition." They've released the standard and anniversary editions before as separate physical releases, but this one seems to be the final version, and it'll include all the latest DLC.
I feel like the first half of EoW was more enjoyable than the second half, mainly due to how pointless a lot of quests and chests ended up feeling when all I get from them are ingredients for smoothies or rupees. If you're going to give the player more to do, you need to make sure that they are properly rewarded for their efforts, and I don't feel like Echoes of Wisdom does that.
Absolutely heartbreaking to hear. Just last week I was visiting my dad's grave, one year after cancer took him away. It hurts to hear that another family is dealing with that, especially for someone who's given me copious hours of entertainment through the Castlevania/Bloodstained games.
I sincerely hope that he whips cancer and tells it it doesn't belong in this world! Best wishes, Ida!
@DjinnFighter Judging by the ruins in the desert, I'm convinced that this is set after Link Between Worlds, since that is the last game where the Desert Palace was intact
This game looks positively gorgeous! I just wish that the other games were available on the switch so I could actually get into the series without resorting to emulation...
Reggie could pick a better host for this than the most disingenuous person in the gaming industry. Just last week, Geoff was licking Sony's boots and defending the price of the PS5 Pro, and now suddenly he's like "hey, remember when Reggie Fils-Aime was making fun of the PS3's price? Wasn't that so funny haha" Geoff just needs to crawl back to whatever hole he came out of.
"With great power comes great responsibility." — Ben Parker Justin Wong is so powerful at the game, it is his responsibility to beat everybody's asses online! xD
I already pre-ordered on LRG before seeing that Konami has their own special variant, but I'm not quite digging that cover anyway. Besides, I already basically committed to the Order of Ecclesia cover art, seeing how this is the Dominus Collection, and Dominus is a key plot element in that game. And anyway, my copy of the Anniversary Collection features the box art for the first Castlevania game (I believe there was a choice between Castlevania and Castlevania: Bloodlines). I feel like it's only fitting that this collection features what has thus concluded the mainline Castlevania series so far on the cover.
Yeah, I still remember when Sega said if they if fans want a remake of Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, they should buy Banana Blitz HD. I specifically chose not to buy BBHD until after Banana Mania was announced. It was on sale at Target anyway. At least here, Capcom is asking people to buy a game that people have wanted them to bring back for a long time, but this is still just a dumb tactic to garner more sales for a product.
Sometimes you don't immediately appreciate something for being different until you find out how it could have been much worse... Like how I started appreciating Mario Party 8 after playing Mario Party 9!
I've heard complaints about the Arcade Archives ports of certain KOF/FF games, so this gets a pass from me. Maybe if SNK wants to try again, hopefully with a collection dedicated to King of Fighters/Fatal Fury with whatever voodoo magic Capcom's been putting in their own collections lately, then I might be interested.
