My 100% playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Switch 2 Edition continues. I decided to only prioritize regions with a Divine Beast so I could enjoy the rest of my time exploring the other regions while riding on my Ducati. That said, I finished Zora's Domain, and I made a critical error: I forgot to snap a photo of the only Red-Maned Lynel spawn in Master Mode, meaning at some point, I need to allow a Blood Moon to happen so I can get the Zora Greaves. I was ready to leave the Lanayru region, when I stumbled upon a side quest, "Special Delivery." ...Where's Chris Hansen when you need him?
In addition to Mina the Hollower, I'm kind of hoping for Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX to make an appearance, with a release date and confirmation that all the crossover content with God of War, battletoads, and Arby's will be included.
@AverageGamer Well, it was a critical success at least, just not a financial one I guess. I'm guessing a lot of people who bought the first game and weren't impressed probably skipped TIL...
OMG YES! PW64 is one of my all-time favorite soundtracks! Dan Hess did an amazing job, and it's a shame only the original Pilotwings and Resort got musical representation in Smash!
@neil9000 If it was a budgetary decision, then I feel like someone is mismanaging funds, because the kickstarter was a massive success, and The Impossible Lair was a banger follow-up, so to cheap out and reuse a bunch of content that is still fairly fresh for a remaster I don't think anyone asked for... idk, I'm worried that Playtonic isn't doing so well, and this game isn't going to help with that.
@neil9000 Agreed. I want to see this team spread their wings, because I know that they can do more... Heck, a lot of people on the team are responsible for some of my favorite childhood games, like Diddy Kong Racing, and my heart yearns for them to make a spiritual successor to that game, but instead, they're going back to remaking a game that isn't even old enough to warrant getting a remake. Well, at the very least, I hope this version of the game is a lot more enjoyable. The original didn't really click with me, and that might have been partially due to me playing it on the Switch, but hopefully I have a better time on Switch 2.
As ambivalent as I am toward fortnite, their trailers usually go hard, and this is no exception! But where the heck are the pink, black, and green/white rangers? I'm guessing the other half of the team will be added later down the line, but it's so weird only seeing three rangers coming in to save the day lol
Well, the Hollow Knight fans didn't have to wait long to put on that clown makeup again... EDIT: I suppose I'll put my hopes/predictions here as well.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX release date, maybe even confirmation of the inclusion of all crossover content, including God of War, Battletoads, and Arby's (That last one is extremely important. If Arby's isn't represented, I will riot!).
Mina the Hollower release date/physical edition confirmation.
Yooka-Replaylee announcement/free Switch 2 update for Impossible Lair.
Inti-Creates. I'm not sure what, but it feels like it's been a while since they've released a game (and when I tried looking up what their most recent game was, I found out that apparently according to Reddit, a trailer was leaked a few weeks ago for a Switch 1/2 game, before quickly being removed, so I might have actually predicted something accurately here)
That's pretty much all I can really predict, because I feel like these indie presentations are more of a wild card, and you don't know what to expect.
I had a busy week so I wasn't able to make much progress on it since last week, but I just collected my 450th Korok seed in Breath of the Wild S2E, meaning I'm halfway done Korok hunting. It was around the 400 mark that I finally progressed the story a little bit by conquering my first Divine Beast. Revali's Gale is too useful to ignore any longer, especially since after I'm done spelunking in Hebra Mountains, I plan on rummaging through Gerudo Canyon, and I'll need to be able to climb the walls with ease. I'll probably go straight for the Eldin and Lanayru regions after clearing the highlands and knock out the other Divine beasts so I can get my cool motorcycle and enjoy using it for the rest of my completion run!
Again, I must praise the Zelda Notes app for making this 100% run feasible for someone like me who would have otherwise never considered completing BotW or TotK. I'm making steady progress in my Master Mode playthrough, and as someone who wasn't incredibly fond of either of these open world Zelda games, I'm starting to grow a newfound appreciation for them!
I think a lot of people (myself included) have already decided that they're getting DQ I&II HD-2D for Switch 1 and not Switch 2 for the sake of actually owning their physical game, but I appreciate that once I'm done playing through those games, DQ III will be enhanced and feel like I'm actually playing the third game, even if it came out before the other two games this time around.
I already have P3R on PS5, and the 1.0 version of the game is on the disc, no download required. I may have to download updates and DLC, but at least it's better than the Game Key Card.
I wish the Partner Showcase was more upfront about which games were going to get a Game Key Card release and which ones would get a proper physical release. As it stands though, I'll probably pick up the Switch 1 version, since it will look good next to PMW Re-Pac on my shelf. Hopefully if they Re-Pac PMW3, it will still be available on Switch 1 and not exclusive to its successor, otherwise I won't have a choice between a proper physical release and a Game Key Card.
I'm calling it now: We're not getting Persona 3 Reload, but instead SEGA/Atlus will release a 60fps version of Persona 5 Royal on Switch 2, and just like the PS5 version, there will be no upgrade path for people who own the last gen version.
This will most certainly be my last purchase from Limited Run, and only because I already own every other Shantae game physically on Switch. Really wish WayForward would find a different publisher, but there's probably a contract in place or something.
Edit: Oh wait, I do want that new Scott Pilgrim game physically...
I started The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition about 9 days ago, and I've been working towards 100% completion on my first Master Mode playthrough (thankfully, Trial of the Sword is not counted towards this goal). I'm currently at 32% so far, and I haven't set foot in any of the regions that have a Divine Beast yet. Zelda Notes has been a big help!
Donkey Kong clearly loves bananas, but it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo tried saying that Dixie Kong isn't Diddy Kong's girlfriend... Oh wait, they did do that!
Even if I already have the Master Chief Collection on Steam, the Deck is such a chunky piece of hardware compared to the Switch 2, so if it does get ported, I'll gladly pick it up!
I really hope Age of Calamity gets a Switch 2 upgrade that enhances the frame rate, because it's still locked to 30 FPS, so it'll be kind of hard to go back to after Age of Imprisonment. Not only that, but after I finish my 100% Master Mode playthrough of Breath of the Wild, I think I might replay AoC, so it would be nice if that game ran smooth like butter by the time I get around to it!
@Spider-Kev How does that make it pointless? If it worked with randos, that would be fantastic reason to not buy one! Imagine you're just playing Mario Kart world, and then BAM! Some 42-year-old dude in his mom's basement busts out his packaged goods! No thank you!
Wait, the starters are Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig? I liked it better when we got a starter from three different regions in Legends: Arceus... Some Totodile fans are going to hate me for this, but I think Mudkip would have fit in nicely with the other two here.
@ParrakerriRush Which is really an odd thing to worry about, considering it has a shutter to effectively blind the camera, and it can be unplugged. If anything, I would be more concerned about the Wii U GamePad watching me in my sleep. That thing doesn't have a shutter, and it's battery operated!
I figured I'd finally take a crack at 100% completion, and the Zelda Notes app is indispensable! I've tried using a Korok map on IGN, but you still need to figure out where you are in relation to the map on the website, and then you have to mark each Korok seed as acquired as you go along. With Zelda notes, that's a non-issue, since it automatically tracks everything you do, and you can see where you are in the app itself, plus, if you really want to keep your eyes glued to the TV, the voice navigation system is useful for that as well. All the other features are neat, like new achievements, daily bonuses, transferring items to the cloud (which I immediately used to get the Hylian Shield early from my last playthrough, since this is my first playthrough on Master Mode). My favorite inclusion however has to be the voice memories. It's nice to get extra context on top of what you can normally find in memories/dialogue.
Side note, this is the first playthrough I've done where I have actively been preventing blood moons from happening, and it feels pretty good ridding Hyrule of as much evil as I can with the knowledge that nothing ever comes back as long as I enter a shrine or dungeon by midnight!
I didn't know that the charge grip also had grip buttons on the back, but I now have a Pro Controller, and it's probably one of the most comfortable controllers Nintendo has ever made. I especially love using the GL button as the down button on the D-pad in Breath of the Wild, since I can hold it and mash B to Whistle Run, and it feels a lot more comfortable than trying to do it without grip buttons.
I was so addicted to this game back in the day! I was going for all the missions for each character. Even though I didn't quite fully complete this game, I got really close before I finally moved on to a different game. Btw, casual reminder of one of the team names being super unfortunate:
We've been hearing rumors about the Super Mario Odyssey team developing a new Donkey Kong game for the Switch well before Nintendo revealed the new system, so none of this is too surprising.
@AnnoyingFrenzy I had to buy a second Pro Controller because my Splatoon 3 Edition Pro Controller started drifting, so I opened it up and replaced the insides with those from the normal Pro controller, and then adjusted the color settings for the grips in the Switch UI on a computer. I probably took a more convoluted route than was necessary, but I was just that frustrated with my best controller drifting.
At least it feels good to hold. I ended up getting one, but at least the charging grip offers an alternative that does everything the Pro controller can do when the Joy-Con 2 are inserted, except for feeling nearly as comfortable.
Watch as this game gets DLC courses in the future, expanding the current set of race tracks by 1.5x, along with a few characters, and then when Nintendo Switch 3 rolls around, they release Mario Kart World Deluxe as a launch title, and it actually expands the battle mode that they keep neglecting.
There's something truly hilarious about the camera zooming in to Kamiya's face as the AI translator says in a very wimpy voice "don't make fun of me... 👉👈"
Well this gives me hope for Wind Waker HD's OST. The GameCube original was my first Zelda game that I actually finished, but I think the Wii U version just sounds much better, and I don't think that's a hot take.
Bruh. Y'all had a new engine with Mega Man 11. Why not just make a new game from that? I know some egotistical velociraptors will joke about the classic Mega Man series being like the Land Before Time if it gets a 12th numbered entry, but it's better than nothing!
"Of course, this might not be the most surprising news for those who have followed the game's marketing up to this point." Really, it had been rumored well before the Switch 2 reveal that the Odyssey team was working on a Donkey Kong game.
