My understanding is that the original PC version has the gameplay of the N64 version, but has the CD quality soundtrack from the PS1 version. I'd prefer if that version was made available for modern systems instead, especially because the port of the N64 version was botched.
I always play Ocarina of Time at least once a year, whether for a challenge run, randomizer, or even just another 100% run. Heck, I remember trying to do a permadeath run with only three hearts. If I used Nayru's love, I wouldn't have died to the Stalfos in Ganon's Tower. I did end up removing the permadeath limitation, since I was so close to the end, and that ended up being the only time I died that run, but I was so disappointed to have made it that far only to die so close to the end. Maybe I'll try the challenge again this year.
I'm actually okay with the wireless GameCube controller that Nintendo released for switch 2... I just wish I could use it with the steam deck without having to plug it into the dang thing.
Even if I don't play this game anymore, I'm glad that Nintendo is still giving it updates. Eventually I might come back to it for more Salmon Run (more of a PVE guy, not so much PVP), but currently I'm much more interested in Raiders!
I already own this collection on Steam, and the Kingdom Hearts Re:Fined mod makes it my preferred way to play KH2, and probably the other games once their Re:Fined versions are finished. I'm still glad that this collection is coming to Switch 2, I just wish 1.5 + 2.5 had a proper Switch release from the outset.
I just finished getting 101% in Donkey Kong 64. I'm pleased to announce that pause buffering is no longer required in Krazy Kong Klamour like it was for the Wii U Virtual Console release; the Nintendo Classics emulator adds artificial lag in areas that need lag to run properly... Except for in Tiny Kong's segment of the final boss, which was already the toughest part as is, but having the attack patterns move faster makes it so much more annoying.
Anyway, I'm going back to Mina the Hollower now, because there were plenty of things that I missed in my initial playthrough.
@CammyUnofficial Yes, the first game will be full physical. The others will still require the DLC to be purchased, but I imagine the data is already on the cartridge.
To think it took a massive outcry for this game to release in the US. Ever since, it's been released on every Nintendo system in some form or another. 3D, Wii U eShop, Definitive Edition, and now Definitive Edition Switch 2 Edition. You won't hear me complain though; it just keeps getting better!
@AtlasLivesAgain oops, didn't see the edit until after I posted my reply. But yeah, Square-Enix was able to get Nier Automata working and running pretty dang good on switch, so I don't think they have an excuse here.
@AtlasLivesAgain Watch the trailer again. There's a tiny blurb at the end (and I didn't even realize it was there until the second time I looked at the trailer) that says that a Switch version of 1.5 + 2.5 will also be made available. They're actually porting that collection to Switch, and it won't be a cloud version.
The fact that switch 1 is getting 1.5 + 2.5 made me happy and angry at the same time, because It basically confirmed something I already had a sneaking suspicion of since the cloud versions were first announced; that Square-Enix was fully capable of releasing that collection on the Switch from the very beginning, but just weren't for some baffling reason.
@mattmanforever You do realize that you can use the mute button too, yeah? You didn't need to engage with them in the first place. And even if I were to mute all of y'all, other people still have to see this arguing, at least until the mods remove the posts for flaming/arguing or off topic.
@Aurumonado It looks like they kept the basic layout, but also expanded on it a bit. Like, you can see the road from the lighthouse to the town, but now there's this bridge that connects to a long strip of land that wasn't there before. I'll be honest, this makes me more hyped to fly around the island again and see what new discoveries await... I just hope they removed the BS timer this time around. In both Wii Sports Resort and PilotWings Resort, you couldn't play the mode that lets you freely fly around the island without only being able to play in increments of 5 minutes.
Would be nice if they added this iteration of Wuhu Island to Mario Kart World's map to bring back the two courses from Mario Kart 7, plus maybe a new route...
So how long do we get to keep these digital challenge cards though? I can take a break from my 101% DK64 run to try my hand at these, but I'm still not going to pick up the Bananza DLC. I'll pick it up when Nintendo decides to add it as a perk for NSO+EP members.
I hope the physical editions for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 include the DLC. I'm not sure if I'll buy them, since I already have physical copies of the trilogy on Nintendo Switch, along with Torna and X, but then again those Switch 2 editions will look good next to Xenoblade Genesis...
I imported a Japanese copy of the Switch version through PlayAsia, since the western release contains FFX and a download code for FFX-2, while the Japanese release contains both games on the cartridge.
A resolution bump from 1080p to 4K is not worth buying this again. And somehow, we've gone from having both games on one cart, but only in specific regions to having neither games on the cart worldwide.
You know, I try to keep my expectations in check specifically for moments like this, but I really thought we were going to see a spiritual successor to Diddy Kong Racing. This looks like a spiritual successor to Mario Kart Super Circuit, which is my second least favorite Mario Kart game...
There's gotta be a Shovel Knight cameo in here somewhere. Dude shows up in a bajillion other Indie developers' games, but doesn't show up for YCG's next big game? I don't think so. I'm gonna find you, dude...
@EVIL-C Not sure if this news is surprising or not. I really expected Ubisoft to do another code in box release, as they are often wont to do, but they shelled out a little extra for the empty plastic cards lol
The only thing I know about DW3 is that it had some incredible voice acting!
Can anyone who played the original confirm whether the voice acting is the same or not?
So no physical edition, and it's only available if you pre-order the unnecessary remake of the most recent Rayman game, which knowing Ubislop will likely be a code-in-a-box release? Pass.
I have a lot of fond memories of Diddy Kong Racing. It was the first Donkey Kong game I ever played, my first kart racer, and me and my brothers spent a lot of time battling it out in Icicle Pyramid.
If this is a spiritual successor to that game, it has a lot to live up to. Needless to say, I'm very excited for this one!
Maybe I should actually finish Yooka-Laylee... I bought the remaster because it was one of very few third-party games at the time to have a true physical version, but I haven't touched it yet because I was waiting for the 60 FPS patch, which completely flew under my radar (in my defense, April was a very busy month for me). Once I'm done with Mina the Hollower, Yooka-Replaylee will be the next game in line!
Wait a minute, web browser support is actually huge! If I'm ever on my computer (usually for drawing), I can now use this instead of YouTube! And having the roaming tracks added regularly is also great decision. I just hope it doesn't take too long for the whole OST to be available... It is Nintendo after all...
I've held off on buying the Switch 1 version for so long that a Switch 2 version might come out 🤣
I think I'll pick this one up at some point. I've only played Minecraft a couple of times, but I do generally enjoy my time with it.
Interesting choice to put the GBA version of Yoshi's Island below the SNES version, but then again, it is a bit of a trade-off, since you get extra levels at the cost of having to deal with screen crunch. I personally prefer the GBA version. It's how I first played it, and I didn't own a Super Nintendo growing up.
Nintendo seriously sat on this for 10 months after leaking it themselves. My guess is we're not going to see Super Smash Bros until 2027. I think people paying for a premium tier subscription service deserve more frequent updates than this drip feed...
So all these "new" features are just the ones that were exclusive to Definitive Edition on the switch, yeah? I'm guessing this one runs at 60fps... maybe even 120fps? Probably not, but I can dream.
@SuppressorSteve Spoken like someone who's never played a Yoshi's Island game before...
And I already stated that my friend bought it and I did not, and I don't regret that decision. He liked Woolly World and thought this game's art style looked great, but he found out quickly this game is a piece of the dullest cake.
