Neither Donkey Kong Bananza nor Mario Kart World deserve to be nominated for Game of the Year in my opinion. Whether it's removing post game content and locking it behind a paywall, or increasing the appearance rate of the intermission tracks that nearly everyone dislikes before undoing that change because of all the backlash that it justifiably received, Nintendo made too many stupid decisions surrounding the 2 largest debut games for the Switch 2. I am rooting for them to win absolutely zero awards at this ceremony. I am excited for next year, when Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby Air Riders can be part of the Game Awards discussion, but this year has been rough for Nintendo, IMO.
@SirLink Seriously, they should just condense the remasters into one slot with the original release. Am I really supposed to believe that the original GameCube version of Wind Waker is better than the one that gives us an easier Triforce Quest, a Swift Sail, first person strafing, and the ability to submit 12 photos at once in the Nintendo Gallery instead of just one per day? I think not.
That's disappointing, but at least blood drive is 60% off. Not sure if that also applies to the first corpse party, since I already own it, but at least now I own half of these games anyway.
Oddly enough, after the update, my official switch 2 dock wasn't outputting to the TV. Thankfully resetting my TV fixed the problem, but the fact that it was working before the update and then suddenly wasn't working had me scared for a moment, since before updating, I had heard that third party docks were having problems.
@gcunit "Guys, while you're on the Nintendo Today app, could you please watch my video? I worked very hard on it, and it would mean a lot to me if you watched it... 👉🏼👈🏼"
I'm really happy for Brie Larson! It wasn't too long ago when she voiced her desire to play the role of Samus Aran for a Metroid movie, and while this isn't the role she showed interest in, maybe Nintendo will keep her in mind when casting for the eventual Metroid movie?
@user0 Aside from having the whole 2-in-one BS drive up the price, along with Link's house and the master sword pedestal being included when they could have just been their own sets, what's wrong with the Deku Tree?
@Spider-Kev Maybe that false advertising should be used as a grounds to have them removed from the eShop. Then again, it would probably be a Hydra situation, where you cut off one head and two more take its place because moderation and quality control are things that the Nintendo eShop laughs at...
@Pillowpants This is probably why Nintendo made the Switch 2 Pro Controller and GameCube controller exceedingly difficult to use on a PC. Thankfully, it seems like a driver is on its way, and should be released soon; I've been waiting to use my GameCube controller in Dolphin since I picked one up before I even got my Switch 2.
I'm not allowing myself to play anything else until I finish Tears of the Completionist. Aside from boss rematches, I've cleared out the depths and most of the sky, I just got to get cracking on Hyrule itself. Just awakened my third sage, so I'll probably finish up the sky and hunt some Koroks before moving on to the next sage.
Side note, since I've been playing Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom over the past few months, I ended up picking up the Great Deku Tree Lego set, and I've been chipping away at that over the past couple of days. It's a massive set, and I have to work on it in the few hours that I have between coming home from work and going to sleep, but I'm enjoying the build. Last night I got to the point where the instructions ask you which tree you want to build, Ocarina of Time, or Breath of the Wild. Since the Era of the Wilds games have been living rent free in my head for a long time now, and because it leaves the fewest leftover bricks, I decided to go with the Breath of the Wild version. Too bad there isn't a third option for the Wind Waker, but considering how tall that one would be, it's probably for the best.
If it weren't for the fact that we got more Sanrio crossover characters than characters from both Zelda and Splatoon combined, I'd say I wasn't too bothered by the absence of Epona, Wolf Link, Medli, Ganon, Felyne, and Inkwell. If nothing else, there were other characters I would have liked to see added to Animal Crossing, like Kass as an eagle. It's also a little bit of a missed opportunity to not redesign Inkwell to look more like Big Man in the same way Cece and Viché were redesigned to look more like Shiver and Frye.
A Link to the Past already got a remake on the GBA, with added content if you can get three other friends together to play Four Swords. If we're going to talk about games that are ripe for a remake, why not A Link Between Worlds?
More like "Kan you not?" Not everyone is watching trailers for this game that they've waited 18 years for. Maybe just don't put spoilers in the thumbnail, or at the very least blur the silhouette so that it's not as obvious to anyone who's played Hunters.
I'm not reading the review, just the conclusion, because I really am trying to know as little as possible going in outside of the characters Nintendo has shown off. That said, the gameplay is primarily what I'm here for, but I do hope the story is actually good and doesn't have the same problems I had with Age of Calamity or Tears of the Kingdom
Well now the decision to add an hourly music button makes a little more sense lol I hope we get the original Animal Crossing music in the near future. New Leaf is my favorite soundtrack across the series, but I also love how quirky the GC soundtrack is!
@Coalescence I remember random encounters being extremely annoying, especially in the latter half of the game, so at least it's true to the original in that sense. I hope that at the very least, the Dragonlord isn't a dogpoo boss fight like in the GBC version.
I still haven't played either of these games yet, but I am going to knock a point off of whatever score I end up giving either of them, because there should be an option to upgrade the Switch 1 version for Switch 2, if only for people who bought the game before buying the new hardware. This clearly wasn't an issue for them with DQ3 or Final Fantasy Tactics, so I don't understand why this collection can't have a similar patch available for Switch 2 owners.
Does Nintendo deserve some pushback for their more recent decisions? Absolutely. Does that mean you go telling everyone to pirate their most current software? Not a chance! Vote with your wallets, but don't try to have your cake and eat it too by playing games from the company you're boycotting, especially if it involves a chargeable offense, and ffs, don't go parading around the fact that you're doing such illegal things! You may as well just wear a bright neon shirt that says "sue me!"
No one else seems to be pointing this out, but you can actually tell what almost all of the systems can play. In the shot where the player boots up Ice climber on the NES, you can see the Famicom with Clu Clu Land, the Super Famicom with Panel de Pon, the Super NES with F-ZERO, and while you can't see the game inserted into the Game Boy because it's laying on its back, we do see Dr. Mario running on the Game Boy just seconds later. That just leaves the Famicom Disk System. Judging by the fact that all of the games I listed are great for short bursts of play, and by the list of games currently available on NSO, I'm guessing it will be VS. Excitebike.
@shoeses Agreed. They should have kept the Squirrel Sisters and just introduced new villagers as Deep Nut. The least they could have done is include Inkwell, and reskin him to look like Big Man.
On top of looking good next to DQIII, I bought the Switch 1 version because It's actually on the card, smooth frame rates be damned. I don't understand why Square-Enix can't just include an upgrade path, or update the switch 1 version to run at 60 FPS on a switch 2, like they did with DQIII, but at least after I'm done playing the first two games, the third game will feel like an upgrade.
I'm glad we're getting more amiibo villagers, but what the heck happened to Wolf Link, Epona, Ganon, Medli, Felyne, and Inkwell? And while it's nice to have Cece and Viché back, did they really need a redesign? They went from Squirrel Sisters to Deep Nut. Like, if you're going to do it, you could have at least redesigned Inkwell to be the Big Man stand-in.
Nice of these AAA developers to give us full physical releases. It's a shame we can't get proper physical releases from small indie studios like Sega, Bandai-Namco, and Square-Enix...
@Dang_69 I'm pretty much banking on this game at the very least being fun to play, even if the character on screen is as interesting as a carton of milk.
@Dang_69 Yeah, the cast in these Hyrule Warriors games has been getting progressively weaker. Not surprising when the first game started with a strong cast of fan favorites from across the entire series, and Age of Calamity was able to pull from Breath of the Wild's cast because of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff, but that apparently isn't the case here. The best we can get is a construct that looks like Link, four sages who didn't even qualify as characters in Tears of the Kingdom, a few familiar faces we can actually give a damn about, and then some new faces that we can't.
I'm guessing Calamo becomes the Great Deku Tree, or is at least somehow connected to the Lost Woods. The Great Deku Tree never mentions Rauru as far as I can remember though, so maybe there was a Great Calamo Tree before the Deku Tree took its place. Perhaps this era where Calamo founds the yet-to-be Lost Woods would become known as the Age of Calamo Tree! 🤭
I could already boot up the Master Chief Collection on the Steam Deck if I wanted to play Halo CE's campaign, and I'd be able to play online with other people as well. This remake will have to add a considerable amount of exclusive content to warrant its own existence.
@Lofoten The jokes write themselves: Ryunald McDonald, Mayor McChun-Li, Kenburglar... Guilemace? Okay so I can't make all of them work, but I tried, darn it!
I agree. A game that costs more than $60 should have enough content out of the gate to warrant not getting DLC. Looking at you, Mario Kart World! It hasn't even been a year yet, and MKW is barely staying relevant...
I'm kind of disappointed Kawasaki isn't riding the Wagon Star, but I guess they wanted to represent some of the new machines, not just the old ones. Anyway, I'm tempted by all of these, but will probably not get any of them... But if they release a Daroach amiibo, it's over, my wallet is cooked bruh
Just the other day, I was wondering when the heck Nintendo was going to announce this, because I figured it had to be in October, and I'm glad that I don't have to wait much longer!

I get that the last update was one of the strongest for the app, but we haven't had an update in 2 weeks, so this feels really weak, and maybe they should have included Samus Returns...
Seeing how I already own this physically on PS5, as well as digitally on steam deck, and taking into consideration that this game will not get a physical release on Switch 2, I am content with skipping this release.
It's one thing to hold timed events for exclusive rewards in a game like Splatoon 3 with the Big Run/Eggstra Work events in Salmon Run, since you could use the decorations and stickers in your locker to be displayed to anyone who recently was in a match with you and was curious enough to see what secrets lie beyond your locker door...
What the hell is this doing in DLC for a single player game?! Has Nintendo completely lost their minds?!
