I figured the Raidou Remastered release being a Game Key Card was sega's decision, but still, LRG is selective when it comes to what they deem is the full game. For example, Doom Eternal released physically well after the digital release (because of covid) and I believe the DLC for Doom Eternal was already released when pre-orders went up, but the DLC wasn't included on the cart.
I might listen to this one. This game came out when I was really not interested in Pokémon beyond Pokémon GO!, so I know I at least missed out on some good music.
I'd like to see some obscure titles that haven't seen a release since, like Custom Robo, WarioWorld, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Ribbit King, and Skies of Arcadia Legends!
Nope! There is no way I am buying another limited edition from LRG! They take too long, they're overpriced, they don't even know how to put their posters in a tube, they are a terrible company and—I'm sorry... did you say "Gex blow-up doll?"
@BrokenCiv Actually, the name comes from KFiOS, which stands for Kitty Face in Outer Space. The name, like my OC in my new profile image, is based on the appearance of Galactic Nova from the Kirby series. For pronunciation, I say Kay, Fi (rhyming with π), and then I tend to flip-flop between pronouncing OS with a long o, rhyming with toast, or a short o, making it sound like "Chaos" with a Fi in the middle. I tend to use an alternative spelling, KF-105, which is my OC's serial number.
The lore for my OC is that they are a failed design for Star Dream, designed by Haltmann Works Company. When granting wishes, the results would be a chaotic interpretation of what was wished for, so KF-105 was locked away in the deepest recesses of a HWC vault. And fiber optic service was not part of my thought process when coming up with this character.
I always preferred this game's version of Waluigi Pinball to Mario Kart 8's. Nintendo's making steady progress with these Mario Kart soundtracks. Hopefully 64, Super Circuit, Double Dash!!, DS, and especially Wii aren't too far off!
Glad we did get an update this week after all, because Nintendo's been known to skip an update every once in awhile.
I really hope the next Animal Crossing game avoids the pitfalls that New Horizons fell into, like starting out with minimal content with promises to update it to have at least half of what New Leaf had out of the gate, a lack of minigames to play with friends, and neighbors being the most bland dialogue vending machines I've ever seen in the series!
Also side note, you mentioned Splatoon in the article, but it's not an option in the poll... I actually would love to see Nintendo not do Splatoon 4, but remake the first game with reimagined subs and specials, all the original maps, including the original Hammerhead Bridge, along with some new maps as well, modes from other games in the series, like Clam Blitz and Salmon Run, and a second story campaign that unlocks after beating the first one. It would look like Splatoon 1 on the surface, but in actuality it may as well be a new game.
I really hope there's some way to connect to a GBA in this app, since it'll potentially allow games like Four Swords Adventures, but if there isn't, I do have a Wii, a copy of Wind Waker and a GBA with a Link cable at least... It'll just be a shame that me and my brothers won't be able to play FSA; we had fun playing the original Four Swords not too long ago.
Ever since Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment was announced, I've been back to the old grind in Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, to this day my favorite Hyrule Warriors game. I'm getting somewhat close to fully completing it now; I maxed out a fairy, and just need to complete the Grand Travels and Lorule maps and finish all the Legend mode stages on Hero difficulty.
Between this, the fact this port of a 3DS game with the same models is on a game key card, and all they're adding are some mini games, plus the fact that the story was a sour point for many, I have absolutely no qualms skipping this rerelease and just trying to finish it on 3DS instead.
I might pick up Tulin. Hopefully he doesn't blow everything off the shelf like he's done with so many items I was trying to pick up in Tears of the Kingdom...
@MattmanForever Wait, you're talking about in Game Mode right? Cuz if that's true I didn't know you could do that! I'll have to try that once I am in front of my steam deck again!
I think the Switch 2 is pretty impressive compared to the Steam Deck in terms of specs (though definitely not in terms of its library, and I doubt I'll be singing a different tune by the end of the Switch 2's life cycle). A 120hz display compared to the Steam Deck OLED's 90hz is incredible, and one of my least favorite quirks about the steam deck is that it doesn't increase the resolution when docked unless you are playing in desktop mode, meanwhile, the switch 2 plays in 4k docked. Much like how Gaben saw the Switch OLED and decided to update the Steam Deck with a better screen, maybe he'll see what the Switch 2 is doing and improve it further to compete with it.
Really hope this will be compatible with Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but I'm not holding my breath, considering Nintendo put a little disclaimer that it won't work on a Switch 1...
I'm surprised the original switch only got Skyrim from Bethesda (as far as I remember anyway). I would have loved to have Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the Switch! Hopefully this at least makes its way to Switch 2.
@SamSt565 Blame this one on Piko Interactive. Limited Run just distributed the physical version, but the Steam version released well before the console ports, and was just as bad.
I don't think I'll get it at launch, but it would be nice to know when pre-orders start in North America. Thankfully, it seems like the tariffs won't affect electronics, so Nintendo might not even need to raise the price here, but time will tell.
It looks like the type of game I would spend 15 minutes with and then never touch again, just like ARMS, but at least that had a roster with interesting character designs.
It's wild to not see Age of Imprisonment on this list, but at the same time, I felt completely ambivalent to its announcement, and seeing another Breath of the Wild era Warriors game just made me go back to Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, since it's still the most satisfying to play in my opinion.
On that note, I'm so tired of the Switch 1 era Zelda (BotW/TotK/EoW) The UI is bland, the menu navigation accounts for a sizable chunk of the gameplay (the exact reason why people hated the Water Temple in OoT), storytelling went straight down the toilet, and puzzles aren't really puzzles anymore with an intended solution so much as obstacles you can BS your way around. Sorry to post this rant here, but I needed to get on this soapbox and shout about this. I really hope we get something more streamlined and less sandboxy somewhere down the line with Switch 2.
@GrailUK I'm saying that they'll release something physical that doesn't contain everything the game has to offer, and it's not just with DLC. There have been instances where a patch would be released close to the announcement of a physical edition of a game, but that physical edition would not include the update.
@GrailUK That would go against their "Forever Physical" slogan, but then again, they'll release DOOM Eternal without its DLC, so I probably wouldn't put it past them.
I don't have a joke for this, not one that hasn't already been made anyway. This just looks dumb. EDIT: Nah, I got more, actually, because I already bought the digital versions of Doom I&II when they were on sale for dirt cheap, plus I bought the classics collection that includes Doom I-III, so I already have the satisfaction of having these games on my shelf next to the rest of the series, and on top of that, I got to download the upgraded versions for free for having at least one of them purchased already. What is the point of this???
@-wc- Oh crap, you're right! It is very easy for me to forget about the Dreamcast, despite how innovative it was with its triggers, vmu, broadband connectivity, etc. not to mention all the games that I would become dearly attached to, like Sonic Adventure 1&2 and Skies of Arcadia, although neither of them really used the analog triggers from what I remember.
Kind of weird for the company that introduced analog triggers to go back to digital input while the competition continues using them. Imo, the triggers on the Pro controller could have been analog, and if you really want digital input, map the triggers to the grip buttons.
I'm not 100% opposed to this idea, unlike the stupid code-in-a-box format that Ubisoft has been vehemently employing, but it has to make sense. Even if I'm not intent on buying the game, I do appreciate Cyberpunk 2077 being on a cartridge, one that stores the highest amount possible, which undoubtedly doesn't come cheap, meanwhile Square-Enix is putting Bravely Default on a Key Card, which is absolutely laughable when the characters look like they're rocking PS1 models. Like be for freaking real, y'all may as well have made it a download only release at that point!
This was something I had noticed immediately. The Switch is comparable in performance to the Steam Deck, offering a higher refresh rate display and screen resolution. Sure, it won't offer the same flexibility in its library, and god forbid game sales are ever comparable to Steam sale prices, but it's a nice trade-off I think.
I've heard enough about the imprisoning war after being told about it four times. I'm sure the roster will include Zelda, Rauru, Sonia, Mineru, and the four nameless sages, but there's no way they're passing up the opportunity to use some wibbly wobbly timey wimy stuff to bring Link into the game, along with the new sages. At least it won't have the god-awful Divine Beast segments this time.
@DanElectrode My guess is the Switch 1 won't fit in the wider dock for the Switch 2 unless the joy-cons are detached, since they jut out at the top on the back where the triggers are, and on the front where the sticks and buttons are. The Switch 2 will probably fit in a Switch 1 dock, but without the fan to keep it cool, it probably won't be recommended.
I immediately had to test Training Room: First Half to see if it would include Totaka's Theme... Not only does it only run for 35 seconds, but you can't extend it, so there's no way to hear Totaka's Theme... EDIT: Having listened to the soundtrack, it feels like some of the tracks sound off, and then some tracks are missing, like the version of the main theme that plays in the Courtyard (the area with the well). I'm guessing this is just how the official soundtrack was, but it's still weird.
You know, I don't mind the lack of achievements so much, at least for first party games. Just give me an in-game achievement system and I'm good. Did the Switch 1 eShop even have music in the first place? Just make it so that it isn't so miserable to traverse!
At the very least, I hope that the GameCube app will include some means to connect to a GBA, whether as a smaller display next to the GameCube display, or via online connection to a friend using the GBA app.
I really want Four Swords Adventures to come back...
This is great because I now feel no incentive to purchase these Switch 2 editions of games I already have with better box art! Next time, try putting everything on the card, Nintendo.
Didn't realize I was being timed, but I got a perfect score in exactly 3 minutes. If I didn't just get home from work, I might have performed a bit better, but I'm okay with how I did.
Really glad to see this one getting a better port for switch 2. My understanding is it ran well enough on the switch, but it could have been better. Hopefully Sonic games all run buttery smooth on Nintendo systems from here on out... Including CrossWorlds!
At least Sakurai and his team don't have to worry about getting licenses for third party characters this time, although the thought of Dante from the Devil May Cry series riding on a Warp Star did get a chuckle out of me.
@Drew250 Are you counting characters with costumes separately? I feel like it will be a lot closer if you count them all as one character. Tour will probably still come out on top though. Darned gachas... EDIT: Okay, so I went through the entire lineup of characters, and crossed out any duplicates, save for ones that were considered their own character in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, like Pink Gold Peach unfortunately. After crossing out a lot of costumes, cats, and a BUNCH of Miis, I ended up with 52 characters.
Mind you, there were some that made me think really hard about whether they counted as a costume or a unique character, like Penguin Luigi and Meowser, for example, given that I wasn't crossing off Tanuki Mario or Cat Peach. Even if I left those types of characters in, I don't think it would affect the outcome all that much. EDIT 2: I did a recount, this time including all transformation power-ups, like Penguin, Tanuki, Kitsune, and Cat for all characters. I say transformation power up, because it avoids things like Ice Mario for example, which is basically the same exact shape as a regular Mario, but he's blue now. I ended up with 64 characters, but I could be even more generous and count the doctors to bring that total up to 68, since Dr. Mario isn't even considered an Echo Fighter in Smash... Aw, screw it! Throw in Gold Mario to make it funny... But only Gold Mario, not Gold Dry Bowser, Gold Wiggler, etc. TL;DR: The number of characters for Mario Kart World to beat is 69!
