Re: New Kirby amiibo Will Apparently Be Nintendo's "Most Expensive amiibo Ever"

KayFiOS

Screw that. Just get an allmiibo, which can store every amiibo released to date and still have plenty of room. I was able to find mine for like $10, and it hasn't disappointed me yet!
Nintendo probably hates the fact that you can get a $10 all-in-one amiibo, but they aren't doing anything to make official amiibo any more accessible themselves.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time

@nhSnork Look at a graphical comparison between the original Metroid Prime and its remaster, then compare either Galaxy game on Switch to the original on Wii. There's a clear difference between a remaster that gives a visual overhaul for many assets and an upscaled emulated port; one is a good deal at $40, and the other is a straight up scam. I'm sure the added content might be something good, but for the price of admission, it better be more than just some new pages in the storybook. And it better not be locked behind those new amiibo that Nintendo wants people to buy, otherwise you're not just paying $40 for the new content.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced For Super Mario's 40th Anniversary

KayFiOS

Mario Tennis Fever gives me hope that Nintendo is at least getting their act together for the Mario sports games. They sure as heck aren't doing it with their their retro releases, with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 being $70, and the Virtual Boy games requiring the player to spend an additional $25-100 for an accessory just to play them.

I think I would have rather just had Super Mario Bros. Deluxe announced for Nintendo Classics: Game Boy...

Re: Virtual Boy Is Being Added To Nintendo Switch Online

KayFiOS

The replica model doesn't include a controller, so you are basically paying $100 for a piece of plastic. At that point just pay $25 for a piece of cardboard. I'm excited to get a chance to play these games at all, but I think the Homebrew Virtual Boy emulator on 3DS is probably the way to go.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time

KayFiOS

$70, AND they probably locked content behind those amiibo?! Screw that! At that price, these should be full-on remasters with higher poly models and high definition textures! This is a new low, even for Nintendo! This should have just been a relaunch for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, with paid Galaxy 2 DLC and an update for improved performance on Switch 2!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?

KayFiOS

Keep the Kirby hype train going with a Switch 2 Edition of Star Allies! For real though, I would like to see updates on games that we know are coming, like Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Also, to throw out another oddball prediction here, after talking about those games, they could reveal Metroid Prime 2 & 3 remasters are on their way and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting a Switch 2 Edition.

Re: Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Gets Seven-Minute Gameplay Overview Trailer

KayFiOS

I refuse to buy the Switch 2 Edition. I'm hoping enough people will buy it on Switch 1 to actually own a proper physical copy, and Squenix will get the message and change their stance on having no upgrade path for Switch 2 owners.
Anyway, I can't wait to dive back into Dragon Warrior again; I played the GBC version a few years ago, and the updated chiptune compositions make it my favorite version to play. Sadly, there isn't an option to use that music here, but I'm sure I'll be just as fond of the orchestral soundtrack!

Re: Pokémon GO's Level Cap Is Getting Increased In A New Update

KayFiOS

So glad I don't have to do the research tasks to get from 40 to 50 now, especially since I am always too busy to catch 200 Pokémon in a single day just to get to level 41.
RIP to everyone that put up with those research tasks to get to 50, and now have even MORE tasks to complete!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)

KayFiOS

I've done almost everything there is to do in Breath of the Wild. All that remains is the Trial of the Sword. I'm not going to do that just yet, as I want to study up on it, and I'll most likely be playing it during the week after work. Until then, I'll probably try getting all the amiibo exclusive weapons.

My TLoZ: BotW S2E 100% Master Mode journey continues. I beat Monk Maz Koshia and got my dirt bike. Afterwards, I unlocked the final memory. Zelda keeps telling me I'm ready to defeat Calamity Ganon, but that's just plain poppycock! I still have 226 seeds and 19 shrines to find before I even consider going back to Hyrule Castle! Hang in there, Princess... I'll save you, eventually!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th August)

My 100% playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Switch 2 Edition continues. I decided to only prioritize regions with a Divine Beast so I could enjoy the rest of my time exploring the other regions while riding on my Ducati. That said, I finished Zora's Domain, and I made a critical error: I forgot to snap a photo of the only Red-Maned Lynel spawn in Master Mode, meaning at some point, I need to allow a Blood Moon to happen so I can get the Zora Greaves. I was ready to leave the Lanayru region, when I stumbled upon a side quest, "Special Delivery." ...Where's Chris Hansen when you need him?

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Is Now "Content Complete"

KayFiOS

@neil9000 If it was a budgetary decision, then I feel like someone is mismanaging funds, because the kickstarter was a massive success, and The Impossible Lair was a banger follow-up, so to cheap out and reuse a bunch of content that is still fairly fresh for a remaster I don't think anyone asked for... idk, I'm worried that Playtonic isn't doing so well, and this game isn't going to help with that.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Is Now "Content Complete"

KayFiOS

@neil9000 Agreed. I want to see this team spread their wings, because I know that they can do more... Heck, a lot of people on the team are responsible for some of my favorite childhood games, like Diddy Kong Racing, and my heart yearns for them to make a spiritual successor to that game, but instead, they're going back to remaking a game that isn't even old enough to warrant getting a remake.
Well, at the very least, I hope this version of the game is a lot more enjoyable. The original didn't really click with me, and that might have been partially due to me playing it on the Switch, but hopefully I have a better time on Switch 2.
