@Kilroy Glad you enjoy them, but people chose random to avoid them, and this change feels like it was made to spite those players, as if to say "How dare you want to play this like a classic Mario Kart game?! You will drive on long straightaways and LIKE IT!"
Maybe instead of simply forcing players to play in the intended way, Nintendo should take note of this and add a classic mode where all races take place on one of the 32 courses, and last for 3 laps each, so it doesn't interfere with the other modes. Just a thought.
A few weeks ago, I was watching Kaze Emanuar trying to get the trees in a level's background to look JUST right in a game he's been working on for a long time now. There are probably a few terms you can use to describe this, like obsessive compulsive, anal retentive, or perfectionistic, but I see a degree of passion that you simply can't replicate by using AI-generated assets.
Unfortunately, Totaka's song and the Super Happy versions of the level themes are not present in this soundtrack. I'm glad we at least got K.K. Song on this service, but that's now two soundtracks (First Luigi's Mansion, now this) on Nintendo Music that Kazumi Totaka composed where his theme isn't anywhere to be found... EDIT: Actually, it's three because it also appeared in Mario Kart 8.
Already got them through LRG, and frankly, I'm glad I never have to buy another damned collection through them ever again unless Konami finally manages to put the Rhapsody collection on the Switch.
@larryisaman I'm 100% in agreement, but "people that put their talents into making something beloved," and it's the DK Rap. Don't get me wrong, I love everything else that Grant Kirkhope does, and the DK Rap is iconic, but it is iconic for being hilariously bad. Grant ain't no Eminem 😂
I tried looking for any instance of Nintendo crediting Grant Kirkhope for the DK Rap. I figured if nothing else, he must have been credited in Super Smash Bros. Melee, right? Oddly enough, David Wise gets credited in Smash Bros. Melee for composing the DKC series' music, but Grant Kirkhope doesn't. David Wise's contributions aren't credited in Smash Ultimate, though, only having his compositions credited to Rare Limited. It took Grant Kirkhope composing new Banjo-Kazooie music for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to get his name in the credits.
Maybe when I get my Switch 2 I'll go for a korok hunt, but beyond that, I'm not the biggest fan of the more recent Zelda games, and I don't think this app is going to change that, least of all when it's just another menu that I get to waste time navigating.
Honestly I don't think Sony has any competition in the console market anymore. Xbox struggles to find any kind of foothold in Japanese markets, and Nintendo continues to do their own thing, and let others follow, same as usual. If anything, Nintendo is competing against handheld PC gaming devices more than they are with Sony. The closest thing Sony has to competing with the Switch 2 is the Portal, which can't be used offline. I don't doubt that Sony is probably thinking about entering the handheld space with an actual system that isn't simply cloud-based, but until then, they reign in the console market that is slowly dying as consoles become more expensive, to the point where you may as well just buy a PC.
This is something all too common when a game gets rereleased in some fashion. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters didn't include content from PS/GBA versions of the games, Persona 3 Reload is missing content from Persona 3 Portable, and the Mega Man Legacy Collections seem intent on never reviving content that was exclusive to the Dreamcast or PSP. It's always lame when a game's revisions over the years added content, then a modern release fails to include it.
Models haven't been updated, game runs at 1080p, and aside from a new minigame involving the mouse, there's no reason why this couldn't have run on the original Switch; at least on that system, it wouldn't be released on a Game Key Card.
All I have to say about this release is... Mrgrgr.
Hey does anyone else remember when Mario used swear words and threatened to break someone's neck? It was voiced by good old Charles himself, so it just seems kind of silly that he's so adamant about not saying non Mario things with the voice when he's done it before.
This feels like an excuse for them to say at a later date "Look how bad our physical sales have been! We can't possibly keep producing physical copies anymore, so we're moving to digital only!"
One of my favorite moments in the Xenoblade series was climbing up tall walls to some rafters, then following them to the end, all the while thinking "I... remember this..." Once I reached the end, and I discovered the Secret Area, "Distant Fingertip," I found myself overwhelmed and overjoyed, because this happened when I was playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3!
I already have the steam deck, so I don't know if I'll even need the Ally for a while, least of all when I still have yet to buy a Switch 2, and I'm currently saving money to buy a house first.
I played this one a few years back on PS4. I don't know if the new content will warrant me buying the game again, least of all when I still have yet to fully complete that version (all the gambling games killed my interest in doing so, and I suck at mahjong).
Pretty useful, although for games like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, those buttons are probably better off as left and right d-pad inputs for selecting artes/items while using the control stick to move. That's currently what I use the back buttons on the Nitro Deck for. I'm a bit disappointed that there are only two back buttons, compared to the four you would get with the Nitro Deck, or any premium controllers for the Xbox/Playstation.
The name fits perfectly. I can see myself using this to store any game key cards I happen to purchase, since they are essentially digital games mimicking physical media.
I already have a 4K TV, so that's not a big deal, and I do plan on eventually buying the Pro controller, but there is no way in hell I am buying a camera.
Meanwhile, games like Super Mario 3D All-Stars are getting an update just to be able to run on Switch 2. That just makes me worry that if I upgrade, some of the games in my collection won't be playable.
I already have Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics. I never need to buy another chess set ever again.
For real though, I'm not too big on themed chess sets, so I'll probably skip this one.
Nah, I'm hanging on to this thing for a bit longer. It's going to be a bit before I can afford a Switch 2, but in the meantime, I did pick up the GameCube controller, which I'll definitely get some use out of on the Steam Deck!
Well thanks to a good number of the people in the comments here, I understand why people think this movie would flop, but casting a trans woman as Zelda would not kill this movie. Look at how many Disney films are actually rubbish and still make back their budget anyway (which unfortunately includes the new live action Lilo & Stitch remake). This is a Zelda film. It's going to find success no matter what any of you hateful bigots have to say, and as long as the actors portray their characters well, they can cast whoever they damn well please.
If this is true, then I am upset, because I never hear Yuri Lowenthal's voice coming out of any of the characters he voices; I hear Yosuke Hanamura. For me, it is his most iconic role (Luke fon Fabre being very close behind), and the first character I immediately think about when I think of Yuri Lowenthal.
For me, DK64 wasn't playable on the Wii U VC without remapping the controls, so if that game gets added, it's good to know that this feature will be available for it.
I thought we'd at least get one KK Slider song, but no, the only theme with him in it is where he talks to you at the beginning of the game while you're dreaming. Honestly, I'm not too thrilled for any of the songs on offer, least of all the intense alarm being the sound of wasps chasing you, accompanied with bongos. That's okay because I've been using the Super Mario Bros theme since MAR10 day.
@gurtifus You actually can! Go to the sleepy sounds settings, and even if it's already turned on, turn it on again. After that, as long as it's past the time when sleepy sounds should start, it'll begin the countdown for you to stand still so sleepy sounds can start.
This is how he should have responded in the first place. I don't need to hear no "If you're a REAL fan" BS. That was only going to have a negative effect, and actually explaining the price should've been the play from the start. I know gaming's becoming an increasingly expensive hobby, but if my brothers are all willing to pick up BL4, then so am I.
@Markiemania95 That's how I've always perceived it. It doesn't make much sense for Mario to eat the mushroom only for his kart to get a speed boost. It's much more reasonable to assume these magic mushrooms can act as a fungal fuel source.
Could it be? Is Ubisoft learning from their mistakes? I guess we'll know for sure if this game ends up being good, and stays the hell away from NFT nonsense, bonus points if it's available on a physical game card/disc! I'm not getting my hopes up until then though.
I thought it was more like they just had the idea to put all obstacle characters in karts, but no, someone drew one of the obstacle characters and the idea evolved from that. I'm a bit miffed that we're probably not going to see returning characters from outside the Mario series, like Link, Inkling, and Isabelle, but at the same time, there's no shortage in variety this time around, which the original Mario Kart 8 roster suffered from. I'll take a Sidestepper over Pink Gold Peach any day!
I feel like when they add soundtracks for NES/GB games, they should always come in pairs because they're always ridiculously short... This could have been bundled with the soundtrack for Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. Hopefully that game gets its soundtrack added in the near future, but more importantly, I really hope Kid Icarus Uprising's soundtrack gets added to this service!
Opening a box from third parties, only to see a white void, maybe with some warranty information or whatever, instead of reversible cover art was always disappointing, but at least now it can be red instead. That said, most of the third parties supporting switch 2 are in love with the idea of using Game Key Cards, so it's not like I'll be buying many physical copies anyway.
Well good to know I won't be putting too many switch 2 games up on the shelf with my switch games, since they'll almost exclusively be first party games.
I think crafting is one of many things that need to be improved on in the next Animal Crossing game. Terraforming should be a lot faster, villagers' personalities need to be more interesting than a plank of wood, players should be allowed to design pants, a feature that was ironically mentioned in one of the commercials for the first Animal Crossing game, Nookington's needs to come back, and features from New Leaf/New Horizon that are planned for the new game should be available in the 1.0 version of the game, not added whenever Nintendo feels like advertising it as a new feature in an update.
I know New Horizons came out when the world needed an escape, and I am genuinely happy that people were able to find that escape in New Horizons, and still love that game to this day, but the next game needs to be better.

I was hoping the successor to the Nintendo Switch would have Discord, but it looks like they're just intent on trying to copy Discord's UI and arguing that the system doesn't need the real thing.
