My biggest problem with Pokémon Violet was not having important cutscenes voice acted, and only having text appear on screen for a brief second during gameplay when exploring the final area of the game with your friends; I had to constantly save a video clip just to see what they said because I wasn't reading it as quickly as the game expected me to. Having a character in the late game speak in corrupted text was a good touch, but I still feel like this would have been better with voice acting. This is a multi-billion dollar company we're talking about, yeah? Why the heck can't they put more resources towards these games that always sell ridiculously well?
He might be a little egocentric, but as far as I'm concerned, he's earned the right to be, and unlike a certain other major Nintendo veteran, his decisions are mostly based on what kind of experience the player would want. I respect what Miyamoto has done in the past, but you can't convince me he's made any sensible decisions during the Switch era beyond making all 4 mainline Pikmin games playable on one system. EDIT: Just thought of something... Where's that second Kirby Air Riders Direct?
In a way, I'm kind of glad I never got into Assassin's Creed, even though the series has always caught my eye, because that means nothing's stopping me from boycotting Ubisoft. They can have my money when they release BG&E2.
@Serpenterror OOPS! I meant to say a North American physical release. I imported these already, but will likely double dip and give the imported copies to a friend.
Yo, Capcom. If Squenix can give these games that have been on Switch for half a decade a North American physical release, y'all can do the same for Ace Attorney Trilogy. Jus' sayin'...
Really weird that they announced this over a month ago. At the very least, they should be announcing this anywhere between a shadow drop and one week after the announcement.
I like it when Nintendo drops a video that gets everyone speculating, and then gives people an answer the very next day... Like with Emio - The Smiling Man.
If you try to imagine a little Pikmin carrying the moving objects, a lot of their movement makes more sense. Couple that with the fact that Pikmin music is definitely being played here, this is absolutely a tease for either a Pikmin movie, or... Nah, I don't want to jinx it.
I started a 100% playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom on Monday, and I've been mainly clearing out the depths and enjoying Master Kohga's Voice Memories in Zelda Notes (I'm still irritated they brought back Erik Braa for the app, but not the actual game...).
I had the joy of building this one earlier this week! I wasn't sure what to expect beyond the lenticular screens, so I was really surprised by all the creative ways they added buttons, switches and wheels to this thing! On a slightly unrelated note, I helped my son build a Mega Construx set that contained Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard, and I couldn't be happier with the fact that Lego will be producing Pokémon models going forward, because Mega is an absolute pain to work with... No, I'm serious, the pieces refuse to go together without a massive amount of force and my fingertips are still feeling it from last weekend! I'm so glad this Game Boy set was easy to put together!
Well that's a nice reminder that I still need to try playing this on Switch 2. I tried the demo, didn't like how it ran on Switch 1, bought it anyway, put it in the backlog.
My son loves LEGO games, especially LEGO Jurassic World and LEGO City: Undercover, and I've been wanting to go back to the latter lately, so this is good news for both of us!
I finally 100% completed Breath of the Wild on Master Mode! The last thing I needed to do was Trial of the Sword, and I want to talk to whoever balanced this, because it starts really hard, but each trial is easier than the last. Anyway, on to Tears of the Kingdom!
What's the tally at right now? We've had two Fire Emblem games, three Mario games (four if you count Hello Mario), Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Miitomo and Dragalia Lost, may they rest in peace. Where's my Kirby mobile game? He's had plenty of spin-offs–just look at the 3DS–but he can't get a single mobile game? Shenanigans! EDIT: Also, let's not forget that Paris Hilton still needs her Nintendogs mobile game.
I really hope that they'll be pushing out a physical release for this. Even if I have an imported copy from Japan, I would double dip if they released it physically in the west, since they've done it for the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Apollo Justice Trilogy, and the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. It's just asinine that the trilogy that started it all isn't given the same treatment.
Use your imagination because we don't have any. We just wanted an excuse to have Pauline ride on DK's back, and making her the size of a little girl was the best decision we could come up with, lore implications be damned!
I've already decided I'm getting the Switch version because not only will it look nice next to the first game by virtue of having the same generic spine template, but it'll also contain the game on the cartridge. It'll probably keep a consistent 30fps frame rate in quality priority mode when running on Switch 2 anyway, and I am not a frame rate snob, so long as the game can keep it consistent.
@X68000 I currently see Switch 2 as a mid-generation hardware refresh with some exclusive games, akin to the DSi or new 3DS, except this time it actually plays Switch games better, like how people speculated the long rumored Switch Pro would do. That's actually what I bought the system for in the first place, so I can't say that I've been disappointed in that area.
@AmplifyMJ I think what @mr12calvin is saying is that the Switch 2 Edition doesn't seem to be doing anything the original Switch couldn't handle outside of a resolution bump. Meetup at Bellabel Park doesn't even use the camera to broadcast players' reactions to each other. Based on what's been shown so far, this could have just been a DLC expansion, one that could be accessed regardless of what Switch system you play it on.
I'm weak enough to preorder a physical copy, even if I already have SM3DAS, but I'm not so weak that I'll pay $80 for pieces of plastic when I could just add the .bin amiibo files to my allmiibo. Nintendo really needs to consider selling amiibo cards alongside these figures, just so there's an affordable way to access whatever BS content these things unlock — I'm hoping it'll be like the Cat Mario and Peach amiibo in 3D World, where it's just an invincible Cat Suit or a random power-up, things that could easily be skipped.
I feel like they kind of cheaped out with the design here. This thing could have been made with silicone and had mechanical parts inside to make the "mouth" wobble open and less open like how it appears in the games. It just looks weird being completely static while talking.
Screw that. Just get an allmiibo, which can store every amiibo released to date and still have plenty of room. I was able to find mine for like $10, and it hasn't disappointed me yet!
Nintendo probably hates the fact that you can get a $10 all-in-one amiibo, but they aren't doing anything to make official amiibo any more accessible themselves.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this means that all that's left is the Legends series, and then maybe some obscure Mega Man games that were left behind like the soccer game, the arcade fighting game, Mega Man & Bass, etc.
@nhSnork Look at a graphical comparison between the original Metroid Prime and its remaster, then compare either Galaxy game on Switch to the original on Wii. There's a clear difference between a remaster that gives a visual overhaul for many assets and an upscaled emulated port; one is a good deal at $40, and the other is a straight up scam. I'm sure the added content might be something good, but for the price of admission, it better be more than just some new pages in the storybook. And it better not be locked behind those new amiibo that Nintendo wants people to buy, otherwise you're not just paying $40 for the new content.
Mario Tennis Fever gives me hope that Nintendo is at least getting their act together for the Mario sports games. They sure as heck aren't doing it with their their retro releases, with Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 being $70, and the Virtual Boy games requiring the player to spend an additional $25-100 for an accessory just to play them.
I think I would have rather just had Super Mario Bros. Deluxe announced for Nintendo Classics: Game Boy...
The replica model doesn't include a controller, so you are basically paying $100 for a piece of plastic. At that point just pay $25 for a piece of cardboard. I'm excited to get a chance to play these games at all, but I think the Homebrew Virtual Boy emulator on 3DS is probably the way to go.
$70, AND they probably locked content behind those amiibo?! Screw that! At that price, these should be full-on remasters with higher poly models and high definition textures! This is a new low, even for Nintendo! This should have just been a relaunch for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, with paid Galaxy 2 DLC and an update for improved performance on Switch 2!
One more prediction, because I thought about this while I was working, but we currently do not have Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on Game Boy - Nintendo Classics, and September 13th is Super Mario Bros.'s 40th Anniversary.
Keep the Kirby hype train going with a Switch 2 Edition of Star Allies! For real though, I would like to see updates on games that we know are coming, like Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Also, to throw out another oddball prediction here, after talking about those games, they could reveal Metroid Prime 2 & 3 remasters are on their way and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting a Switch 2 Edition.
I refuse to buy the Switch 2 Edition. I'm hoping enough people will buy it on Switch 1 to actually own a proper physical copy, and Squenix will get the message and change their stance on having no upgrade path for Switch 2 owners. Anyway, I can't wait to dive back into Dragon Warrior again; I played the GBC version a few years ago, and the updated chiptune compositions make it my favorite version to play. Sadly, there isn't an option to use that music here, but I'm sure I'll be just as fond of the orchestral soundtrack!
