@Daniel36 I'm willing to bet Nintendo threw a bunch of characters in this game just because 24 players will be on the track at the same time, so they wanted to do what they could to reduce the possibility of multiple people choosing the same character. That's probably why they included outfits for the more popular characters as well, so even if we have a race full of Peaches, at least some of them will look different.
Interesting. If Nintendo didn't change anything else about the game, then this might be the best version of the game for speedruns. I don't think speedruns really go into loading screens all that much, if at all, but the game does stop for a minute if you move too fast just to make sure everything is loaded before you proceed.
Yuck. I'll pass then. Besides, I strongly doubt they're going to give me a decent reason to play this version over the 3DS version, like better English voice acting (seriously, it was a factor in me stopping my playthrough).
I don't doubt they spent a lot of time deciding whether the system should launch with an OLED screen, or save it for a later revision that'll cost $500.
Really hoping these mouse controls can tell when you're tapping the side of the joy-con against a surface, because it would be really neat if a game could, for example, spin the camera by sliding the mouse left or right, and then you could stop the camera by lifting the mouse up and putting it back down, like spinning a globe and suddenly stopping it... A particular 3DS game would be able to make excellent use of that if it got an HD remaster...
Honestly, even if the graphics are slightly better on NS2, the box art for the NS2 Edition is disturbingly bad, and, as it says on the box, it comes with the NS1 game and the Upgrade Pack, so you may as well just buy the NS1 version and the upgrade pack, assuming it still costs the same if you do so. In my case, it'll be a while before I can buy an NS2, so I may as well pick up the NS1 version anyway.
Not expecting upgrades for owners of the NS1 version of the games—after all, if you owned the PS4 version of Persona 5 Royal, you had to pay full price to upgrade to the PS5 version. I suspect Persona 5 Royal/Strikers will also get similar NS2 versions, but with no option to buy an upgrade pack.
So glad the physical releases of these upgrade packs just include the Switch 1 game with presumably a key to download the upgrade pack on the cartridge, because I have no desire to pick up any of them when the box art for all of them look atrocious compared to the NS1 box art!
For a product from Nintendo, this doesn't look like it'll have half of the personality Astro's Playroom or Aperture Desk Job had... and though it's probably redundant by now, I feel I must reiterate; both of these were free.
Okay, why did you use the News tag for this? This is all speculation, not rooted in fact. This is not news, it is just adding to a pre-existing rumor, so it should still be categorized with the Rumor tag.
I didn't know there was a Dole promotion. Maybe I'm revealing my age bit here, but back in the day, a game would launch with that promotion, and stay that way. I know there's benefits to patches (and they far outweigh the negatives), but man, it always sucks when they remove something cool... Like Suezo and Morgana in Banana Mania...
So the app launches with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe having all of its DLC tracks, but Splatoon 3 only has music that was added through Fresh Season '23, then Splatoon 2's OST launches with all of its DLC music, but then Nintendo removes a song from a trailer that was hidden away and you had to actually search for it, meanwhile, Breath of the Wild's trailer music is still available in the app as part of its OST... And now the app is launching Kirby and the Forgotten Land's soundtrack with not even half of its music! Why did they even release this app if they're only willing to add content in the most stupidly inconsistent ways?
I'd rather TPC pull their heads out their butts and actually make a good quality game. The whole reason people were rallying behind PalWorld was because Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was an embarrassment that couldn't meet the standards of the Switch's capabilities, the quality of the previous entries, or the expectations of the series' fans. People want Pokémon games to be an event to look forward to, but lately, every time a new one is announced, it has to be received with a high degree of skepticism, because fans have been burned several times by now, and it shouldn't have to be that way, yet here we are.
Here's an idea: just let people trade whatever cards they want, and not be restricted by rarity. If I have two gold Mew ex cards, I should be allowed to trade one to a friend if they offer something good for it that I don't already have. And it's not like there's any restriction for card trading irl anyway.
I still haven't picked up any of these, so if we get a western release, I might pick it up, otherwise I'll wait for a sale on Play-Asia to make up for the shipping costs...
I already have most of these (and Ubisoft isn't getting another penny from me). If Nintendo actually sold their Mario sports games for what they're worth (≈$20 each), I might actually be interested in buying them, at least for collection's sake. As is though, Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf: Super Rush, and Mario Strikers: Battle League should have been finished games at launch, instead of offering minimal content to be added to later...
And considering they're not even on this list, I guess I'm going to have to wait even longer for them to drop the price to something reasonable.
I really hope they keep doing more themes that aren't just from Switch games, because I'd love it if I could wake up to Frigate Orpheon (or Parasite Queen 20 minutes later), then fall asleep to Phendrana Drifts!
@Bizaster As far as remixing Black Tar, I don't know how you can improve upon perfection... Then again, that didn't really stop them from remixing music from the first Xenoblade game for its Definitive Edition.
I wonder if Twitch Plays Pokémon will finally stop using Battle Revolution and start using this instead. I guess it depends on or whether or not it's even possible to set it up to have Twitch Chat vote in commands, and whether two players can play on one system.
Either way, this is something I've been hoping for ever since the mainline entries stopped including the full roster of Pokémon, because it will hopefully offer a way to build your dream team without any restrictions and pit it against other players'.
Not sure if this will include Dyna/Giganta and Z moves, but it's probably a safe bet it will, for better or worse.
Definitely pre-ordering this, though probably not during the early bird special unfortunately. I kind of hope they continue adding more suits from the Metroid Prime Trilogy, including the Dark and Light suits and the PED suit, but I also want them to move on to suits from outside the Prime Trilogy, like from Fusion and Dread (I'd buy a statue of Samus in the suit from the finale of that game in a heartbeat!).
@PtM I'm not saying they never had an allergy before, just that it's gotten worse over the years. You used to be able to buy their best selling games for $20. Now Nintendo can barely be arsed to let people save $20 for buying two games...
It's seriously lame that the DLC isn't included here, even if I didn't buy any of the games in the 5.0 update. I still would've loved to have its music available here! Hopefully the DLC music will be added later (Splatoon 3's DLC music too).
I get the feeling Nintendo is becoming increasingly allergic to discounts. They used to give games away for free to Club Nintendo members, now they can't be bothered to let people save a bit of pocket change with their purchases...
It would be nice if Nintendo offered a means to purchase games from the NSO emulation apps, that way if your NSO subscription ends, you can still access the games you own. Might not be able to play with friends, but at least you'll still be able to play your games.
This trailer really doesn't sell me on this port... I'm noticing some really bad audio and visual glitches, like the sound effect for when you "COLECT GARIBS," as the trailer states, and billboard sprites for enemies remaining on screen after you defeat them, or the glitched textures on the piano that falls on the Carnival zone boss. Please tell me the game isn't actually like this... I grew up with this game, and was hoping for a competent port of it...
I was prepared for this to only feature Sonic characters, and was actually looking forward to seeing hopefully some more obscure characters like Emerl, Gemerl, Vanilla, Ariem, Tangle, Surge, and Trip. But if we're expanding the possibilities to the entire SEGA-verse, then there's a non-zero chance that Danica Patrick can come back. Soleanna help us...
Here's hoping it has significant additions, like Return to Dreamland Deluxe got. It'd be really cool if they added challenge rooms for a handful of copy abilities, and also some for the Robobot as well. Going for platinum medals in those challenges is one of my favorite parts of Return to Dreamland.
