I remember playing the demo of the first game, when the PlayStation was still current generation, and I loved it. It felt unique, even at that time. I watched longplays of both games. Maybe someday I will beat them myself. I can only hope, that I can get the original versions someday.
Around 100k was my estimate, if it sells well. I think it is safe to say, that Air Riders will someday top the Japanese lifetime sales of the original game, which sold around 450k.
@molkom I was curious myself, so I asked the internet. Here is a quote, "Therefore, while the core platformer series contains around 29 titles, the total number of games in the entire Mega Man franchise is significantly higher, with estimates ranging from approximately 53 to over 95 games depending on how titles are counted."
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake is my top priority, but I will also make sure to play the Road Trip mode, of Kirby Air Riders. I think I am nearing the end of the main quest in Dragon Quest, but I want to try to do a little bit more than that. Air Riders is cool. Kirby reached level 109 yesterday in Road Trip and I am in the 7th stage now. It is an interesting mode and I am glad that they decided to put a little story in the game.
Thanks for the numbers. So this makes approximately 1,6 million Switch 2 units sold by the end of June, around 2 million by the end of July, around 2,4 million by the end of August, around 2,69 million by the end of September, and around 3,018 million by the end of October.
@kal_el_07241 Thanks, I did not know about the 300k sales figure. The only explanation I have for this is, that Nintendo mentioned shipped numbers, which means the consoles they shipped to warehouses and retailers. The 300k units were real sales to the customer probably.
Kirby Air Ride has a Metacritic score of 61, so this is a success. Really glad that it turned out well and that Nintendo decided to make this sequel at all.
Thank you very much Mister O'Reilly! The review sounds really positive and you convinced me to buy Air Riders day one, even though I still have to beat the Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake. I read the whole review, before I looked up the score. I guess this means, that I am really interested in Air Riders.
I am really glad, especially for Air Ride fans. How often does stuff like this happen? And it is even a success.
@BTB20 Of course, thank you. Hyrule Warriors released on August 14, 2014, on the Wii U. By November 30, 2014 the Wii U had sold 2,009,513 life-time sales, in Japan.
If you compare this to the 2,642,256, the Switch 2 has sold now in Japan, you can even argue that Age of Imprisonment underperformed, as long as we do not get data on digital sales, for the title.
@UltimateOtaku91 This is one of the reasons, why I also mentioned the Wii U Hyrule Warriors sales. At the end of 2014 the Wii U has sold 9,2 million units.
We can only assume how big the difference would be.
@rjejr Oh, how I loved Triple Triad. It feels good to collect them all. I probably beat the game more than four times by now, it is simply that great. The atmosphere is so comforting too.
I have to admit, that I have not played a Xenosaga game or Xenogears, but I heard that they are great.
Playing video games with your wife and kids sounds so wholesome. I would love to play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with four players.
Continuing with Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake. The game is great. I like how noble and friendly the characters speak to each other. I found 14 mini medals and I am currently in a tower trying to find an artifact.
@rjejr Final Fantasy VIII is very romantic. The music is perfect too. The ending scene feels very rewarding and it is a great happy end. You really could not have picked a better game, during that time.
Z-A is really, really good fun. I beat it today and I still want to keep playing, even though Dragon Quest 1+2 comes out tomorrow. I will definitely keep playing Pokémon, if the next game is as fun as Z-A.
