Re: First Impressions: Same But Different? - Our Initial Hours With Hollow Knight: Silksong

Henmii

Normally I wait for discounts, but I was in the mood for it and at 19,50 Euro it isn't badly priced (at 25 or 30 I would have waited for a discount). Only played 1.30 hour so far, but I like it (and it looks amazing). It gets quicker to the point and the protagonist also has text (wich I didn't expect). You get very quickly to the first boss, but she's super easy (I believe the first boss from Hollow knight was much harder). However, I am in a area now with quite nasty enemies. Also, the rosary strings hanging from the ceilings reminds me of the strings found in Haiku the robot, wich was also inspired by Hollow knight.

I find it fun that Team Cherry didn't commit to any "hype".

No reservation on Switch eshop
No early buyers discount
No demo
Not even a page with a trailer prior to the release

They just worked 7 years on the game, they dropped it on the date they promised recently and at a decent price. And we downloaded it en masse. I think they didn't even send review-copies to sites. Maybe a bit arrogant, or massive faith, or just a relaxed way of living. Maybe a combination of all 3?

Re: Opinion: Silksong's Big 'Anticlimactic' Premiere Was Absolutely Perfect

Henmii

I admit that I was also suspecting something seeing as it took this long, but maybe its just good that they took their time and didn't commit to the pressure. As long as they had fun while making it, not allowing any pressure, hopefully we feel that passion in the final product. We (myself) included are to often: Why isn't there a sequel, or why isn't it still ready?

Re: Review: Sea Of Stars (Switch) - An Instant Classic, So Much More Than A Chrono Trigger Throwback

Henmii

I am really impressed with this game. I initially played the demo and though I liked it I didn't feel the immediate rush to buy it. Also, it had a very steep price. But when it got a discount I jumped in...and man was it good!

Better Mario and Luigi then the most recent ones, timing and stuff was cool.

Light puzzles and dungeons that remind me of Golden sun (and Zelda), with one or two that where actually tricky.

Fun exploration, characters that are all fun to use, no need to grind yourself dizzy.

Good graphics and animations, nice music, modest difficulty for the most part where the last couple of bosses are pretty challenging (real endboss is insane though, but I managed).

And its also a very meaty game, took me almost 50 hours to do almost everything and just started the dlc.

Only minor complaint is the story, wich is probably a bit to difficult for such a simple premise.

Overall very strong second game from Sabotage. Judging from the puzzles and dungeons they might also be capable of creating a awesome Zelda-like game. I hope they will do that someday! Looking forward to their third game!

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

Henmii

Great, as expected! Loving Zebra DK. I wonder though how big the game will be. 160 Banandium gems isn't a great amount if you compare it to the moons of Mario Odyssey, but there are also the fossils (and you also need chips to buy gems, so we'll see).

And it looks like its a prequel, where Pauline wants to become a professional (jazz) singer!

Re: Review In Progress: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation?

Henmii

Although the game really looks great and I am definitely gonna buy it when I have a Switch 2 (really looking forward to the open-world with its challenges), I am a bit dissapointed that on Metacritic it has a average of 90% (so far). For such a expensive title you would expect a higher score, especially since there are tons of different games (on any device) that are better and much cheaper.

Re: Review: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (Switch) - Level-5's Triumphant Sequel Trades Depth For Breadth

Henmii

Might be the first time I read a Kate Gray review. Its a nice review by the way. I never expected this to be any good after all the delays. The shrines sound nice. It reminds me a bit of Ever oasis, wich was also town-development, exploration and dungeons (I should get back to that someday). Are the shrines a bit good, puzzle-wise? Might try it someday.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour - Surprising, Delightful, And You Know Where It Belongs

Henmii

Nintendo is just super greedy, but their game prices where always fair (always around the 50/60 Euro mark). But that's out of the window now with Switch 2. Ironically during the Wii/Wiiu/Switch1 era Nintendo was the cheapest way to play (compared to Sony and Microsoft), but now that has completely changed. What happened to affordability for households? And what happened to plug and play (almost all third-party games on Switch 2 are those awful Gamekeys).

And they sadly seem to get away with it, Switch 2 already sold 3 million copies!

Re: Rumour: New Leak May Explain Why So Many Switch 2 Physicals Are Game Key Cards

Henmii

Game-keys are awful, and basically every game comes on it! That way it doesn't make sense to buy "physical" third-party games, you could just as well download them all (wich fills up those expensive Micro-sd cards even quicker).

On a sidenote, it seems that on rival consoles there are games that need to be installed even if they come on a disc. That is also awful and fills up your memory too.

Re: Full Game List Revealed For Atari's Upcoming Bubsy Collection

Henmii

Lol, I'll download them (and I also download the Gex collection, only played the butchered N64 version of the first 3D game). I played the original Bubsy back in the day and loved it. Always curious about the second game (Wich supposedly has a Genesis version different from the Snes version). And now I can finally see how terrible Bubsy 3D really is! And for completionists they should really ad the last 2 Bubsy games too (I mean, the 2D game with the 3D art and the Bittrip runner clone).

On a sidenote: I wonder if the new owners of Glover still plan to finish that sequel!

Re: Nintendo Confirms Duration For Tomorrow's Mario Kart World Direct

Henmii

I haven't seen the treehouse bit yet (the one after the reveal), but I hope they will do missions and bosses and stuff. I mean, the DS game had missions. But I could never try a single boss because I was so bad at it.

If you have a big world where you can drive anywhere, there should be missions, bosses and collectables in my opinion. Just saying.

As for possible dlc in the future: That might be hard to implement now that everything is placed in one big world, unless they go for a arcade of course (I am talking about tracks. They can always add characters and vehicles though).

Re: Talking Point: How Does Switch 2's Launch Price Compare To Past Nintendo Systems?

Henmii

I see some nasty prices on the list, but I don't see Euro percentages or game prices. Switch 2 is very expensive compared to the original Switch, the games are more expensive and you need more (probably) expensive sd-cards for storage. Not to mention the eshop, where everything probably will be more expensive to (at least the new games). And then there's the power-usage, wich might also be higher.

+back in the day everything was cheaper, including the food. So paying a bit more for your device and games wasn't as terrible as it is now. +for the Switch 2 price you might get a PS5 or XboxOne who are much stronger in terms of power. And in this time Nintendo should have been a bit more lenient anyway.

Personally my "head-goal" lies at roughly 400 Euro (paid 300 for current Switch) and 70 for games (but I rather pay 60).

As it stands Switch 2 is around 470 Euro here in Holland, and the games are already going down in price luckily (sitting around 69 Euro, but still 79 for Mariokart).

It automatically means that if I'll buy a Switch 2 someday I will buy less games and wait more for discounts. And maybe I even ignore the eshop if it is to expensive. Nintendo is just basically shooting themselves in the foot.

By the way: Is it already confirmed how long the lifespan will be? You don't want a system that gets supported for 3 years. My current Switch was supposed to have a lifespan of 7 years, its 8 years now (and there's still some stuff coming, even next year).

Re: Katana Zero's Long-Awaited DLC Is "Still Coming" To Switch

Henmii

Great news! I wonder how long the original Switch will get supported with dlc, updates and new games (on the eshop). It all depends on the popularity of the Switch 2. I really don't think it will become as popular as the original Switch. Not only is it a continuation (and not something new), but it is also far to expensive (system and games).

Re: Zelda: BOTW Switch 2 Edition Won't Include The DLC, Nintendo Confirms

Henmii

Another epic fail from Nintendo, but what did you expect? On a sidenote: From what I get all the Switch 2 versions come WITHOUT the upgrade features on the card (yes, that includes Metroid). So this is what you should do if you want to play the stuff with the upgrades on Switch 2: Go for the cheapest regular Switch versions, then download the upgrade pack!

Re: Random: Of Course Nintendo Fans Are Already Camping Out For The Switch 2

Henmii

Stop camping, American guys! Besides the already ridiculous prices, I read somewhere that Nintendo (and some other companies) have completely stopped shipping Switch 2 devices to America because of the tarrifs. Accordingly there's a batch in America, but when that's sold out (if they sell it, you still can't pre-order in America from what I know) that's it.

Of course you won't read this on Nintendolife. They are suspicially quiet on the awful prices + the possibility they lose America. And they call themselves a news site!
