The previous one didn't blow me away. I think I have had my fill with this series, especially since I am a single-player. That, + I don't want to bother with my dead joy-cons again (I play handheld all the time, with Split pad pro) and I am just waiting for a new Warioland.
I really want to buy it someday, but I hope motion-controls aren't required. My joy-cons are as good as dead, I use the Split pad pro instead!
As for the puzzles: If I remember correctly the sequel almost has no puzzles. Its really a walking simulator, but still worth playing. I never played the first one (the ds title).
Nice review and nice score! Though I really hope they do a 3D Prince of persia again someday, this will do for now. Seems like a return to form, even in 2D. The demo was pretty fun so I'll buy it someday (but I'll wait for a discount).
In Japan it still seems to be selling massively, and that might be leading for Nintendo. So yeah, another year without a Switch2 or even its anouncement: It wouldn't surprise me.
Happy new year everyone! We aren't through the woods yet with the Switch, games-wise. There's still Mina the hollower, Penny's breakout, Professor Layton, Prince of Persia, to name a few. So even if there's no succesor there's plenty of good stuff. That and my huge backlog.
If it's still doing that good in Japan I wouldn't be so sure. That and the huge game-sales. I mean I would have also expected it, but not after these figures.
So Switch is still on top in Japan (and there are still people who buy a 2DS?!), Nintendo isn't in a hurry to release a succesor (And I don't mind, as long as there are good games released. Besides, I have a huge backlog).
Great to see that Pikmin does it so well, the series is saved. But where the blazes is Zelda? Ah well, there are just games that Japanese like more it seems. Overall (worldwide) Zelda still did very good, if not the best it ever did.
Definitely something I download next year at a discount. Seems to be a pretty good game and I liked the demo. Very original concept and lovely artstyle (though that artstyle might get boring after a while, I don't know).
You are right. But I tried them and like them now. I especially search them out (when they are in a corner) just to hear what they have to say.
That being said the game doesn't blow me away just yet (very early in the game), since its very easy. The New super Mario bros games where harder and had more secrets too.
Hmm, no 10? But a 9 is still very good. I wonder (hah!) how this will click with me. I mean, it does look nice. But nowadays I am into Metroidvania's...maybe this is to simple for me? And does it have enough meat on its bones outside of the online-modes? Also, I might get annoyed by the talking flower. But I'll know soon enough when I have the game in my grasp. It soon gets on my backlog though since I very recently started Pikmin 4.
This is one of the higher scoring reviews. More reviews give it a 6 or 7, wich is usual for Arzest games. That being said, the game looks really cool. Biggest problems seem to be the rubbish online modes and bosses that drag on. I definitely give it a try in the future.
So the people who believed Mario sounded a bit different in Mario bros Wonder where right: Its the new voice-actor. Welcome Kevin! So far you sound really good to me. I personally don't hear any difference to Mario. I don't know about Luigi yet and I wonder if he also voices Wario in the new Warioware. Anyway, looking forward to hearing more of him in the upcoming years!
Well, what did we expect...its from Arzest. They aren't really known for high scoring games. It might still be worth it though, but I might buy it someday at a discount.
That he didn't Mario's voice in the movie probably was a sign on the wall, though I can't imagine Chris Pratt to be doing it now from now on. Anyway, very sad news. He did a superb job and a new voice in the games might be something we have to get used to. Thank you very much Charles!
Nice review and nice score! The first one was amazing, but I'll wait for this sequel untill a huge discount arrives. Very expensive and I don't have time to play it at the moment anyway because of Zelda. See you next year Blasphemous 2!
By the way: The ign reviewer found the bosses to be pretty easy. Sure that can't be right? How is the difficulty compared to the original?
Also nice to see that the story takes place right after the first ones dlc. Sadly I couldn't play that dlc because it was locked behind New game+ but at least the developers recognize that it exists.
145 hours in and still going. I do have Pikmin 4 but it really has to wait. I initially was very worried about the game: Same overworld, Nintendo being to secretive.
But I shouldn't have worried: The game is amazing, the same overworld isn't a problem since there's so much to do. And then there is the sky islands, grotto's and depths.
However, I think one of the weakest points is actually the advertised sky islands. I just can't get a proper feel for them, they are to far apart and you can't simply fly from one island to the other. Yeah, you can use planes but they also have a lifespan.
Now the depths, that's my stuff. And the grotto's. And the lifely world with all their inhabitants (with their own day-night cycle, Majora's mask style). A lot of things have been improved from Botw. Botw is the more serene experience for sure, while Totk is the more lively one with more stuff to do.
I do prefer the Divine beasts over the dungeons in Totk though. And I also prefer the story in Botw. Totk is yet another "Ganondorf is back" story with zero connection to Calamity Ganon from what I can tell so far. And that's super dissapointing, I really hope the next Zelda has a different antagonist. Also, there isn't much new music that sticks in my head so far. And I prefer the towers in Botw. Sure, they had some fun ideas for it in Totk. But they where super easy to unlock, while in Botw you had to really climb them. The roots in the depth make up for them for a bit, since its often quite a challenge to get to them.
Put short: Lovely game, keeps me goin for a while and definitely game of the year. But Botw is the more serene experience with the better story and dungeons (and it was of course the first Zelda with this format, artstyle and world).
The first one didn't click with me thus far, though I only played a small portion. A walking simulator about some teens on vacation, constantly talking, talking, talking, that's not something for me. But everyone says it gets interesting when the paranormal (Stranger things) stuff starts to happen. I haven't played that far, might try again in the future.
I voted nothing because I agree with all the options. That being said, I think the quests in Totk are really fun (and often have good rewards). Only the picture-quests are a bit annoying since you can't take pictures you already have in your compendium. No you have to take those pictures again, removing your maybe supperior pictures in the process! That's just lame!
That's not what I meant. Pikmin 3 was level-based, you pick a level from a map-screen. But now it looks like you really can go from one area to the next seamless (with maybe a few warp-points, Zelda style). Of course it also looked that way with Paper Mario Origami king and that game turned out to be very lineair (well, some areas where a bit more open, but you still progressed from one area to the other in a lineair fashion).
This Pikmin game looks like you get dropped on the planet and can go anywhere from there.
At this point you would expect Nintendo to slowdown...but they keep on trucking! Maybe a bit to much Mario, but it was great stuff. Penny's breakaway also looks great. And then there's Sonic, Prince of Persia, etc. I am set for this year, that's for sure!
A pity though about Warioware, should be Warioland!
This can't be played in handheld, right? I think I'll skip it. We really didn't need a second Warioware on Switch and the first one was highly dissapointing in my opinion (though this one seems to go back to its roots).
Sonic Superstars looks also great in my opinion but is sadly made by Arzest. Arzest doesn't have the greatest track-record but it still looks promising.
Looks fantastic. Sure there's still New super mario bros dna in there, but it has a new artstyle and lots of new ideas. In fact a lot of interesting stuff in this Direct. And we thought the Switch would die out...now to find the money and time to play all that. I do not need a Switch 2 in quite some time.
Squid Game 2 looking...not so nice? Lol, imagine a live E3 presentation spoiled with this, just like the old days (could still be fun with a couple of people, but just terrible to watch)!
Silksong? Now don't be ridiculous! Pikmin 4 for sure, and a bunch of third-party games (download, retail or both). Maybe 1 or 2 surprises from Nintendo for the Holiday season (new 3D Mario, is that even possible?).
So he's basically saying to anyone who doesn't have the game already: Just wait for a definitive edition on Switch2? So that means I should also wait for a definitive edition? Maybe I'll do just that!
Definitely! Everyday I am finding new stuff, making some progress. The game is amazing. So far I have done 3 of the 4 dungeons, found all the tears, unlocked all the skyview towers and have done 50 or so shrines and quite some Lightroots unlocked. But there's sooooo much stuff left. I haven't even visited Tarrey town or Hateno village. I haven't upgraded any suits. I have barely touched the sky-islands, wich should be the main attraction (I like the depths much more though).
My backlog is frozen. I may take a break for the upcoming Pikmin, but after that its straight back to Zelda!

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
@johnedwin,
but Japan is Nintendo's own country and Nintendo always takes their country first when making their plans. But we'll see.

So far really liking it. Looks great, sounds great, controls great, fun levels. Bosses are pretty fun too.

Deserved! Doing good on Zelda!
Re: Video: Wario Side-By-Side Voice Comparison (New VA & Charles Martinet)
This sounds a lot colder then the old Wario, a lot more gruff (though not bad).
As for Mario and Luigi in Wonder: There Mario also sounded a bit colder, while Luigi was spot-on.

Re: All Nine Picross e Games Will Make The Jump From 3DS To Switch Next Year In Picross S+
I think I'll just get the base game and Picross 9, since that's the only way for me to get acces to Picross 9.
The series has been milked completely dry though. I have all the Switch entries minus 1 or 2, but have still to play most of them.

Hipster prince, awful trailer music, but overall decent looking. Could be fun.
