Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

Henmii

Mariokart world and DK bananza look great, and its nice to see Starwars Outlaw on it (and a announcement for Kirby air riders), and a few other things. But other then that: Not much graphical improvement (well maybe in the DK game. I couldn't watch it in better quality), terrible price, probably terrible game prices, probably terrible microsd prices. I guess I'll keep on trucking with my current Switch for a while, DK has to wait!

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

Henmii

It wasn't bad. It had the Patapon games (so in the future we can play both the originals and the indie sequel on Switch!), the monument valleys are coming, Rhythm paradise finally getting a new sequel (next year?!), and Metroid (but that was very dissapointing).

The last couple of Directs all had 1 or 2 interesting things in it, while in the past there where Directs that totally failed.

Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime 4 Will Apparently Make Quite The Splash At The Switch 2 Direct

Henmii

I am pretty sure Prime 4 will be there, but it will also be playable on the current Switch. And we might also see a new 3D Mario, solely for Switch 2. And the new Mariokart of course, also solely for Switch 2.

Speaking of rumors: Strange that there aren't any rumors on games we do not know about. I find that more interesting then all the rumors on special buttons and special features of the device. It all means nothing without games.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

Henmii

Games: Hard to know what to expect. 3D mario, Metroid prime 4 (maybe), mariokart (obviously), maybe a new Zelda first look, Metaphor refantasio port, Silent hill 2 remake port (Atlus is already on board with Nintendo, and Bloober team aren't strangers either)?

releasedate, price, hopefully some strong looking games. I mean, I really want to see the difference.

Also, I think we will see "for the Switch family of systems" moniker very often. Put shortly: If I don't see much improvement and/or lots of stuff can be played on the original Switch, that might be a reason for me to wait. Wouldn't surprise me if it releases Holiday 2025 at a terrible price (450 Euro or more).

Also the magnetic clasping rises lots of questions (is it durable, is it safe), have they finally improved the analogue sticks (probably not), and still a dock instead of a dongle to connect your Switch to the television, that's pathetic!

As for mouse-functionality: Maybe I missed something but the side of the joycon that hits your desk, doesn't that wear down very quickly when you slide it all over the place?

Re: Review: Clive 'N' Wrench (Switch) - A Banjo-Kazooie-Style Throwback That Hits All The Wrong Notes

Henmii

I find a 3 to be very harsh. I played it recently (it did have a big update that might have improved it though) and would give it at least a 6 or 6,5. I found it pretty enjoyable, even if it was technically pretty janky.

Graphics: Okay
Music: Okay
Short loading-times
Satisfying controls, I especially liked the high jump
Technical janky, glitchy
Funny references everywhere
Decent lenght
Dissapointing bosses, as most aren't even bosses
Bad hit-detection

Overall not a patch on A hat in time, Yooka Laylee or Mario Odyssey to name just a few 3D platformers, but still worth it if you want more of that stuff and like collectathons.

Re: The Switch eShop Is A Nightmare, So We've Made Our Own "Better eShop"

Henmii

A bit late (seeing as Switch 2 will be released this year) but nice nonetheless. Hopefully Switch 2 continues the current eshop, making your better shop also usefull for the future. How acurate are you guys with the European deals? I switched (hah) to a dutch site for the deals since you guys didn't give the full lists for a long time now (and sometimes even skipping weeks). Now I must say that dutch site is also pretty late nowadays and sometimes also skips a week. If you guys can manage a full list every week and on time, I can see myself using your site often. It does look handy!

One little advice: Maybe a tag for genres? I couldn't find a Metroidvania tag for example and that's one of my favorite genres.

On a sidenote: You Nintendolife guys made this better shop to get some eshop-cards revenue, right. Well, its okay. As long as the shop works fine.

Re: Switch 2 Will Be Backwards Compatible With Physical And Digital Games, With Some Exceptions

Henmii

To be honest, "fully backwards compatible" might mean there's just a one-way transfer of your digital games and maybe saves between your old Switch and Switch 2. I just want to put my microsd with digital games (and saves) into the Switch 2 and it works. And just work with the old eshop, give us a proper account system so that everything purchased on Swith can easily be downloaded on Switch 2 too.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

Henmii

Average. It does show the device in a snazzy way, but its just a bigger Switch (with a better kickstand if that's your thing). Good that its backwards-compatible though (with physical and digital, but maybe with some caveats). Clever Nintendo, bigger console with bigger joycons means you can't connect your old joycons or peripherals (they do this on purpose). Also, what if there's still joycon-drift? And do we really need a different charger for it?

I am interested in the power, games, price. I won't rush to the shop for the exact same thing. The new Mariokart at first didn't even look new to me.

Nintendo might face the same problem with the Wii u: How do you get people on board? The Wii u looked more different than Switch 2, and it might not work like smartphones where people bought a new version every year. And even that changed now with the current financial crisis. People might hold on longer on their old Switch. Also, don't you guys think it really has magnetic connections for the joycons (with clamps in place)?

Re: Japanese Charts: What Successor? Switch Hardware Sales Top 100,000

Henmii

"Nintendo's gamble to save its 'Switch 2' announcement for the New Year"

Its not a gamble, they know exactly what they are doing! They announce it at the end of March (after Xenoblade), maybe even later. Might get released in the summer, or maybe even as late as the winter.

And I would laugh my ... off if it turns out to be something totally different from the Switch! Accesory makers, you probably made the wrong accesories lol!

Re: Bandai Namco Unveils New Pac-Man Game, And It's Probably Not What You Expect

Henmii

Waka waka?

Anyway, don't know what to think of it (is this a tie in to the Amazon episode? I have to watch that stuff someday). Could be awful, but could also be great. Lets wait and see!

Yes, it reminds a bit of Bomberman Zero. But that was a gritty looking Bomberman game, while this is a Metroivania with Pacman elements.

If you want more "crazy" Pacman stuff, Terminalmontage on youtube made a halloween video once on Pacman. That was actually great.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot

Henmii

Its nice to see a stunning 3D platformer to win the game of the year award. I probably will never play it because I am a Nintendo consumer, but If I had a PS5 I definitely would have bought and loved Astrobot. Nintendo has their work cut out with their upcoming 3D Mario, that's for sure!

Re: Okami Sequel Announced, Will Be Directed By Hideki Kamiya

Henmii

Great news! I hope to see it on Switch 2. Teaser reminded me a little bit of the original Okami teaser.

Its crazy though: Never was a sequel possible, Kamiya leaves the studio and creates a studio with almost the same name (?) and POOF its possible! Well, as long as it is good (and hopefully arriving on Switch 2). Kamiya and people from the original staff are on board, so that's promising (and published by Capcom). And probably no Tencent involvement! But I guess Clover studios is gritting its teeth. Might be the nail in their coffin.

Wonder how it will look like. Its just a teaser, but it gives the impression that it is a different look. But still very beautiful.
