Requiem is a blast to play. It's a perfect blend of survival horror and action horror. Playing as Grace left me feeling tense and scared. Playing as Leon makes you feel like John Wick and ready to kill everything.
The game looks and runs well on Switch 2. Overall Capcom has done a great job with this port.
Playing through Resident Evil Requiem and wow I'm very impressed by the port of this game. Capcom has done a fantastic job, it looks and plays great on Switch 2. The segments with Grace feel intense and having Leon use a chainsaw against zombies is so fun.
I also might start Pokemon Leaf Green too. Being a Gen 1 Pokemon fan I couldn't resist the nostalgia and ended up buying the Switch version.
Maybe I'm being over critical but the game doesn't look next gen to me at all. Not saying it doesn't look nice but it's not the upgrade that I was expecting visually. With saying that I'm cautiously optimistic about this one, would love to get back into Pokemon since the previous generation left me disappointed.
Hopefully they finally add voice acting too but we'll see.
I was originally gonna get this for PS5 but having Resident Evil return to Nintendo got me more excited to play it in Switch 2. Glad to hear it runs well and looks great
Don't really have any games in particular for this weekend as catching up on shows and the Olympics but I did beat Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the game is great. It does have some pacing issues though but overall a great reimagining of a classic game.
@Nightcrawler71 From someone who's played all the Xenoblade games X should be ok for casual gaming as it kinda lets you play at your own pace. The battle system is a bit complicated though but was able to get by using the basics.
Sweet, now we wait until we get upgrades for the other three Xenoblade games. I'm pretty excited to see what Monolith Soft can do with the Switch 2 hardware.
It's awesome that Castlevania is finally back but I don't like the art style from what I've seen. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the pixel art there's just something that doesn't look right here.
Anyways hopefully they optimize this for Switch 2.
I tried getting into this but everything about Hollow Knight I just found very tedious and frustrating. I see why people like it though, the art style is awesome.
@Fishmasterflex96 Ya it's interesting that they confirmed the Switch 2 version is full physical, that alone gives me a reason to buy it over the other versions.
I still haven't bought this yet, was hoping for a price drop but the game never really went on sale. I love the movies so I'm thinking of getting this for Switch 2 instead of PS5.
I still need to finish DQ 2 HD first before jumping into another Dragon Quest game. This is definitely on my to play list, just wish there was an upgrade path for the Switch 1 version but I'll probably end up getting this digital or key card for Switch 2.
From what's been announced so far I'd say Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave is my most anticipated game, followed by Resident Evil Requiem, Fatal Frame 2 and Dragon Quest 7.
Not really surprising to see the numbers since the FF7 Remake hype has died down a long time ago and most people that wanted to play it already have the game on other platforms.
Still it's a excellent port and it makes me wonder how much people ended up getting this digital instead of the Game key card. I double dipped and have this game for both PS4/PS5 Upgrade and Switch 2.
I still have my original copy along with the other Operation Rainfall games. The Last Story kinda gets forgotten now but it's still a very good game.
I remember this came out when JRPGs in general went through a bit of a rough patch, lots of Japanese developers struggled with the transition to HD and the Wii in particular didn't have any RPGs that fans could sink their teeth into.
If they ever did a remaster of this I'd buy it for sure.
@Classic603 FF V is the most underrated Final Fantasy game that I've played. It gets overshadowed by 4 and 6 but it's such a fun game. The job system is awesome.
I own 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15 but haven't had the chance to play through them yet. The best part is most of the series is available on Nintendo and Square Enix has been a great supporter of the Switch/Switch 2.
Still playing through FF7 Rebirth, about 70% through the main story. The game is awesome, I can definitely see some Xenoblade inspiration with the layout of the open world. I also bought the Switch 2 version of FF7 Remake since I wasn't going to pass up the chance to play Remake on a Nintendo console.
30fps does not bother me, people think I'm crazy when I say this but I played both FF7 Remake and Rebirth in graphics mode with 30fps on PS5. Plus the original version of Remake was on base PS4 which only capped at 30fps to begin with.
The Switch 2 version is an excellent port and I would give it a 9/10.
Already had this one pre-order, love FF7 Remake and great to hear it runs really well on Switch 2. 30FPS works fine for the game, the original PS4 version had the same framerate and I had no issues with it.
For anyone that only owns Nintendo consoles but is interested in FF7 this is a great place to start.
I haven't shopped at EB games in years, the last game I bought there was Monster Hunter Rise back in 2021. I've since moved to buying from different online retailers and more local businesses where I live.
So far EB Games Canada doesn't seem to be affected yet but this is a sign that more closures are coming.
Not sure how less difficulty makes that a con? Anyways this is a classic Fire Emblem game and I highly recommend it to anyone that's never played it. One of my favourite GameCube games of all time.
Difficulty wise I would say it's very similar to the GBA normal difficulty which is fair and a fun challenge still. Plus it has Ike what's not to like?
I'm glad there's finally a legal way to play this on a modern Nintendo console. Path of Radiance is a great game, this is one where I'll definitely replay once I got a bit of time.
It's honestly cool to see Final Fantasy have a presence on Nintendo systems again. Even though I already own FF7 Remake I'm gonna double dip with the Switch 2 version.
I will say the Dynasty Warriors type games get a bad rep. The Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors I thought were both well done. I haven't picked up Age of Imprisonment yet but will probably check it out once I have a bit of time.
I just hope Atlus starts prioritizing Nintendo systems, they always wait years later to port Persona to Nintendo systems. Persona 4 Remake and 6 hopefully get released on Switch 2.
It's kinda interesting to see the Nintendo representative mention that people's thoughts on open world games have changed and for me personally I sorta agree. Not every game needs to be open world, it's gotten to the point now where the video game landscape is oversaturated with the genre.
When it comes to Prime 4 I still think it's a great game and I had fun with it. Sure the game isn't perfect but I feel that the cons that I read online are over exaggerated.
DK Bananza was my pick of the year, haven't had that much fun with a game is a long time it's simply pure joy.
Notable mentions:
Prime 4 is a good game but boy the backtracking in this one just seems like a chore. Still a really good game though.
Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake fell a bit under radar, this is the first time I ever played these classics and I loved how they kept the old school feel but added additional story elements.
Still need to buy the first one, just haven't had time to check out the game but this is one series that I've always kept an eye on even though I haven't played a single game in the series.
I thought Myles was fine and didn't find him annoying. Honestly my biggest issue is that Samus is still an emotionless robot, before she used to have inner monologues or thoughts like she did in Super Metroid or Fusion. Now she's completely silent and I feel it's an over correction Nintendo made after the poor reception of Other M.
Metroid Prime 4 will be my main focus for this weekend. So far I really like it that Samus basically has Force powers like a Jedi and is stuck on a desert planet like Tatooine. I can tell that Retro Studios was inspired by Star Wars or Dune for this game.
I also beat Cyberpunk on Switch 2 and I'm very impressed how well the game ran.
Finally Mega Man is coming back, good to see Capcom giving the old blue bomber some love. 2027 is still a long ways away but I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Poll: 20 Years On, Does Your DS Lite Still Have Charge?
Yep my DS Lite still works perfectly with no issues. Also have a DSi XL that I modded a few years back and runs perfectly still.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Resident Evil Requiem?
Requiem is a blast to play. It's a perfect blend of survival horror and action horror. Playing as Grace left me feeling tense and scared. Playing as Leon makes you feel like John Wick and ready to kill everything.
The game looks and runs well on Switch 2. Overall Capcom has done a great job with this port.

Re: Poll: So, Which Starter Will You Choose In Pokémon Winds & Waves?
I wanna see what the final forms are but Pombon is the one I would pick so far. Just hope it doesn't become yet another bipedal final evolution.

Re: Fans Are Asking Nintendo To Refund Xenoblade Chronicles X's Switch 2 Upgrade
To be honest I barely see a difference but I'm sure Monolith Soft will patch this in an update.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st February)

Sweet, now we wait until we get upgrades for the other three Xenoblade games. I'm pretty excited to see what Monolith Soft can do with the Switch 2 hardware.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Nintendo Classics Virtual Boy Launch Games?
After buying this replica Virtual Boy I can understand why this thing was a flop, most of the games feel like experiments but Wario is really fun.
Would I recommend this to anyone besides hardcore Nintendo fans? No. But do I regret buying this thing? Also no.
Re: Review: Ys X: Proud Nordics (Switch 2) - The Definitive Version Of Adol Christin's Seafaring Saga
Not sure why there isn't an upgrade path option for anyone that has the Switch 1 version while Trails in the Sky had that option.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 2 Pokémon?
Espeon is a fav of mine for Gen 2.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 1 Pokémon?
@UpsideDownRowlet
Mostly Gen 1 and 2 I meant.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 1 Pokémon?
Gotta go with the face of the franchise Pikachu. Pokemon Yellow was my first Pokemon game and Pikachu has been a staple on my team ever since.
If I had to rank my top 10 Pocket Monsters it would be mostly from Gen 1 and 2:
1. Pikachu
2. Espeon
3. Eevee
4. Charizard
5. Tyranitar
6. Meganium
7. Typholsion
8. Umbreon
9. Dragonite
10. Leafeon
Re: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Unveiled For Switch, Launching In 2026
It's awesome that Castlevania is finally back but I don't like the art style from what I've seen. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the pixel art there's just something that doesn't look right here.
Anyways hopefully they optimize this for Switch 2.
Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park
Honestly the only reason I'm getting this is to be able to play as Rosalina. Love the game but the ballpark stuff I don't really care for.
Re: Review: Hollow Knight (Switch) - One Of The Finest Metroidvanias That's Not A Metroid Or 'Vania
I tried getting into this but everything about Hollow Knight I just found very tedious and frustrating. I see why people like it though, the art style is awesome.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Gets A Release Date For Switch 2
I'm still playing through this game as they announced this. Gonna double dip since FF7 Rebirth is an awesome game.
Re: Indiana Jones Cracks His Whip On Switch 2 On 12th May 2026

Re: Poll: What Nintendo Switch 2 Games Are You Most Excited For In 2026?

Re: Japanese Charts: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Emerges Victorious In A Quiet Week
Not really surprising to see the numbers since the FF7 Remake hype has died down a long time ago and most people that wanted to play it already have the game on other platforms.

Re: Best Final Fantasy Games, Ranked - Switch 2 And Nintendo Systems
@Classic603
FF V is the most underrated Final Fantasy game that I've played. It gets overshadowed by 4 and 6 but it's such a fun game. The job system is awesome.
Re: Best Final Fantasy Games, Ranked - Switch 2 And Nintendo Systems
I still plan on playing the rest of the FF games but from what I have played I'd rank it in this order:
1. FF 6
2. FF 7 Rebirth
3. FF 7 Remake
4. FF 4
5. FF 5
6. FF 16
7. FF 7 Original Version Remastered
8. FF 3
9. FF 1
10. FF 2
I own 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15 but haven't had the chance to play through them yet. The best part is most of the series is available on Nintendo and Square Enix has been a great supporter of the Switch/Switch 2.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy Movie's New Trailer Shares A "First Look" At Yoshi
Man I had the chills when I heard the Mario World theme play, Yoshi looks awesome and cute as always. This is gonna be a fun movie to watch
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th January)
Still playing through FF7 Rebirth, about 70% through the main story. The game is awesome, I can definitely see some Xenoblade inspiration with the layout of the open world. Re: Nintendo Download: 15th January (North America)
Bought FF7 Remake for Switch 2. Decided to double dip on this one.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th January)
Still playing through FF7 Rebirth, about half way done so far. I might start Path of Radiance for Switch Online at some point though
Re: GameStop Kicks Off 2026 By Reportedly Shutting "Hundreds" Of Stores

Re: Nintendo Switch 2025 'Year In Review' Is Available Now
My top 3 played games this year by hours played:
1. Xenoblade Chronicles X 105hrs
2. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition 91hrs
3. Donkey Kong Bananza 54hrs
Favourite Switch game was DK Bananza by far.
Re: Tales Of Berseria Remastered - Switch Performance And Resolution Detailed
I'm gonna pass on this, I already own the PS4 version which is dirt cheap and this remaster doesn't look like it's adding much.
This is another lazy port by Namco
Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance (GameCube) - Aged & Easier Than You're Used To, But Still A Winner
Not sure how less difficulty makes that a con? Anyways this is a classic Fire Emblem game and I highly recommend it to anyone that's never played it. One of my favourite GameCube games of all time.

Re: Video: 8 Exciting New Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In January 2026
It's honestly cool to see Final Fantasy have a presence on Nintendo systems again. Even though I already own FF7 Remake I'm gonna double dip with the Switch 2 version.
Re: Poll: So, Now The Dust Has Settled, How Did You Find Myles MacKenzie?
Honestly I had no issues with Myles, he's nowhere near as bad as Adam from Other M. Him telling me where to go didn't effect my enjoyment of the game.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd January)
Playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, loving the game so far. Square Enix did a stellar job with these remakes
Re: Opinion: I Reviewed 25 Switch 2 Games In 2025, And These Are My Top 3 Picks
I will say the Dynasty Warriors type games get a bad rep. The Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors I thought were both well done. I haven't picked up Age of Imprisonment yet but will probably check it out once I have a bit of time.
Re: Atlus Looks Forward To Persona's 30th Anniversary In 2026, Acknowledges Support For Persona 4 Revival

Re: Square Enix Teases More For Dragon Quest, NieR and Final Fantasy In 2026
I got into Dragon Quest late but I hope we see more HD 2D remakes of 4 to 6. The one thing I like about the series that it stays true to its roots.
Re: Nintendo Suggests Metroid Prime 4's Tortured Development Meant It Was "Divorced From The Changing Of Times"

Re: Trails In The Sky 2nd Chapter Continues Estelle's Journey In Fall 2026

Metroid Prime 4 will be my main focus for this weekend. So far I really like it that Samus basically has Force powers like a Jedi and is stuck on a desert planet like Tatooine. I can tell that Retro Studios was inspired by Star Wars or Dune for this game.
I also beat Cyberpunk on Switch 2 and I'm very impressed how well the game ran.
