Plenty of Mario and honestly I love it. Basically every Mario announcement got me pretty excited lol
In terms of the year overall so far for Nintendo I would say it's looking great. We got a new Fire Emblem, Zelda, Pikmin and Mario game all in one year. Not to mention a Metroid Prime remaster as well.
A bit early to say this but If this is the last big year for the Switch then I'd say they finished it with a bang.
I've been itching to play a new 2D Mario game and this looks great. Looks like they finally moved away from the NSMB art style and this one just has a different feel to it which I like.
Also getting to play as Peach and Daisy is the right move.
Finally we can play these in HD. Glad these are going to be available now, buying the original versions of these games cost so much nowadays on the second hand market.
I'm guessing we'll see a new 2D Mario that isn't related to NSMB and as for that SNES remastered rumour could it be A Link to the Past? The Persona 3 Reload seems likely but knowing Atlus it's hard to predict what they do.
Still hoping TP and WW get released on the Switch and possibly a Fire Emblem 4 remake announcement.
@GameOtaku It's honestly disappointing that Atlus doesn't want to include the female protagonist in this remake. It's not a deal breaker but if they were going to remake it from the ground up they might as well include the option. More options to the player is always a good thing.
Yes I know it requires more resources to include all the social links etc but come on we all know Atlus could include all of this if they wanted but chose not to.
Ya I do remember they added that into Xenoblade 2 which was pretty cool. Too bad Pyra never got that updated design. The cosmetic changes in my opinion just looks better than the default outfits we see in the game.
On a side note I forgot that Nintendo had to redesign Pyra and Mythra for Smash bros to keep the E rating. But looking at these amiibos the designs look even better than the original.
Highly doubt P3 remake is coming to Switch. I don't think the game would be impossible to run on the system like some people think but at this point it would make sense to wait until Nintendo announces the Switches successor in the upcoming year.
But Atlus makes weird decisions all the time like waiting to release P5 years after Jokers Smash hype died down so who knows if it ever will be on a Nintendo system.
The P5 spin off I can see being on the Switch but at this point I'm ready for Atlus to move on from the world of P5.
It really is personal preference. I can see where people can get overwhelmed with the array of options the game gives you but the best part? It's all optional. I much prefer ToTK, it just feels more like a complete game and improves on every aspect.
But like with every Zelda everyone has one they like more than the other and that's the beauty of this series.
@Ryu_Niiyama Honestly I'm still surprised Sailor Moon hasn't had a new game in ages. It was huge and people still love it. You would think with the anime being remade they would have had some sort of video game to go along with it but nothing since the early 2000's.
If I remember right Namco has the video game rights to it. There's a lot of potential they could do with it and yet the IP is sitting there collecting dust.
Not gonna lie I'm a sucker when it comes to the old school dungeons but I love the new dungeons so far in ToTK. They're much more interesting and some of the puzzles I thought were much more creative than BoTW's divine beasts. With an open world game like this it would be impossible to implement the traditional dungeon format. I'm all for the modern way going forward.
I don't the old style dungeons are dead though. At some point we're going to get remakes of older Zelda games and possibly even brand new 2D titles that would most likely go the old school route.
I still own the Legacy collection that came with basically all the Metal Gear games on PS3. Was never a big fan of the series though but cool that they're trying to revive it after years of doing nothing with the series.
Not really surprising but I am surprised it beat out Botw's initial launch. Guess it's because the Swtich user base already exists compared to it just beginning to grow.
Glad to see Monolith Soft getting some well deserved recognition. They've become such an important part of Nintendo and I'm always looking forward to seeing what games they'll develop next.
If Nintendo ever decided to revive Golden Sun I think Monolith Soft could help in that department since they know how to make darn good JRPGs like Xenoblade.
@MetaCrystal You're not the only one. I love Mega Man Zero and ZX. But I could never get into any of the Gunvolt games, the whole tag enemies then hold a button to attack was awkward. It just breaks the flow of the game when you need to do that for every enemy. I know Gunvolt 3 is a bit different from what I heard but the first 2 I'm not a fan of them.
It's great to see this selling so well. I'm honestly a bit surprised it hit 1 million sales that quickly but we'll deserved. All we need now is some brand new Mega Man games.
The game that started it all for me and introduced me to the world of Fire Emblem. The trio of Lyn, Hector and Eliwood were so memorable and the story had me hooked from start to finish as a kid.
I recently beat it again and it's just as good as I remember. It's a true classic and still one of the best in the series. Awakening may be the game that saved the franchise but this is the one that layed the foundation for the series globally.
I'm surprised Ivy is so low on the list, I loved her character. Her design seems to be the stereotypical femme fatale but her true personality was completely different than what I was expecting.
If I were to rank my favs I would go: Ivy, Yunaka, Alear, Diamont and Lapis.
Nothing really surprising since he's been a producer for a few recent games. His legacy will always be mixed with that Mighty No. 9 fiasco, which to this day they still failed to fulfill promises, game ended up being garbage and was a gong show of a Kickstarter.
I honestly don't know how I missed these games back during my GBA heydays. I'm having a blast playing through the first game for the first time ever.
Wayforward deserves praise for the work they put into these remakes. Makes me wonder if Nintendo would consider letting them handle other dormant IPs like Golden Sun, F-Zero and Kid Icarus.
X-2 was the first one I played and I hated it at the time. The first one that I actually went through and beat was Final Fantasy 1 on GBA. Nowadays I love the series but haven't gotten through all of them yet. I've beaten 1 to 7 including the remake.
Buying this day 1, never played these before and looking forward to finally get a chance to play this remake. Makes me wonder how well it's going to sell though. The series has traditionally performed very poorly in Japan but hoping for the best.
@Hero-of-WiiU Pretty sure I heard Chris Hackney's voice talking to Zelda in the trailer. First thing came to my head was oh that sounds like Dimitri from Fire Emblem Three Houses.
@Krambo42 This. Not sure why Capcom never included them in the original Legacy collection. With the 3DS eshop gone there's no legal way to buy them on modern consoles now.
Just came back from the theatre and I loved it. Was just a really fun movie to watch, 8 or 9 for me. The animation was gorgeous and had a nice simple story. Critic's may not like it but who cares?
Despite being a huge fan of Fire Emblem I've never played the GBA Advance Wars games before. I've only played Days of Ruin back on DS years ago which I thought was a great game.
Looking forward to play through these games for the first time ever.
E3 served a purpose back then and it had some great moments like the Twilight Princess reveal. But now there really is no point especially with the big three doing things their way with Nintendo Direct style videos to relay info.
I honestly can't see Nintendo or any of the big 3 to even bother with E3 moving forward. Why bother with live stage gaffs when you can edit and provide info at your own pace through online videos?
I've owned 3, one was the original Aqua Blue model then I sold it for the new 3DS XL Red, then I bought a new 3DS regular on eBay as a backup system years later.
I can say I've done some last minute shopping this past week. Hard to believe this is the end to the eshop for the 3DS and Wii U.
As for my sleeper pick I would say Stella Glow surprised me. It's a great game for people who like strategy games and the plot was a lot more interesting than I expected.
Paper Mario TTYD is one of those games that has aged very well both in terms of visuals and gameplay. So not really sure what a remake can improve on but I would love to play a HD remaster of it regardless.
My vote went to Path of Radiance, it would be amazing to see it remade with updated battle animations and full voice acting like modern FE games.
Japan just doesn't like Metroid for whatever reason. Like people mentioned it could be because it's the most westernized game Nintendo has or maybe it's the sci Fi setting.
But on a side note I'm playing through the remaster right now and it's amazing. Wish Prime 2 and 3 get ported to Switch at some point

A bit surprised no DLC was announced guessing they might be waiting until next year. I don't normally collect amiibos but these look great.

About time they made another Peach game, looks pretty cool. Will for sure pick this up whenever it comes out

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
105 hours in and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I'm nowhere close to getting burnt out and will probably continue with it for a while.

Re: Zelda: TOTK Playtimes Start To Appear, And Some People Haven't Been Getting A Lot Of Sleep
I'm probably in the 20 to 30 hour range. Not sure yet since it hasn't been 10 days since I got it so my Switch won't show me the actual hours.
I'll usually play 2 to 3 hours a day after work.
Re: UK Charts: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Is The Biggest Boxed Launch Of 2023

The game is awesome so far from what I played.

Pretty cool that almost every Mega Man series is now available on Switch. Only missing Legends and Star Force now.
