Been hoping for BG3 and the Fallout series, even tho I own em on Steam Deck, would totally buy again on Switch. Voted for all the ones I would buy instantly - BG3, Fallout, Nier, RDR2, Mass Effect, KCD2, Clair Obscur and Metaphor.
Solid list. Aside from adding Fallout 3, FO4, Oblivion, and the Dragon Age series, I couldn’t think of much more that could complete the experience..:. MGS4&5 maybe, and Fable series….
@Oldstalk Yeah Switch 2 more or less single handedly boosted the Express Micro SD market.
That said, is that officially what the S2 carts are running? If so then there’s a fairly decent chance Nintendo isn’t even fully manufacturing the S2 carts…. as far as I can tell on Lexar, Sandisk, and Samsung have express cards (and GameStop which I’m sure is licensed through Lexar). So likely that Nintendo isn’t even fully buying the internals and slapping them into S2 carts if that is indeed the case.
@sethfranum Bet that listing is half right then. Highly doubt the game is only 40 gigs. Even BL3 on Switch 1 was over 25gb, and that was Unreal 4 with 720 textures and assets. An unreal 5 game on Switch 2 with 1080+ textures and assets is going to easily run over 40gb. Even the eshop page says 48.8gb estimated size, which will likely grow before release.
That all said, Randy Pitchford and Gearbox/2k have been known to cheapen out a time or two.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of key cards, and have chosen full digital over Key Cards for every purchase where that was my options. I feel for the physical crowd, and I too miss physical games being the norm.
@sethfranum the current estimate of console file size of BL4 is 80gb while PC is 100+gb. Which would track as base BL3 on Ps5 / Series X is between 55-65gb and was running on Unreal 4. BL4 is running Unreal 5 which has shown to have games with increased file sizes compared to Unreal 4.
So in all likelihood, it won’t be a game key card if the file size is truly 40gb, and more likely 40ish will be on cart and another 40ish on download. Or the 40 is wrong and it is a key cart and the download is more likely 70-80gb.
@sethfranum from the rumors that were going around we can thank Nintendo for that. IIRC they have 3 card sizes, 64/128/GameKey…. If BL3+DLC on other platforms is anything to go by, then expect true size to be around 120-190gbs with DLC. Switch 2 version likely 70+ like Hitman.
Back to Nintendo however, they apparently only offered 64 and Key Card to third parties and are retaining 128gb carts for themselves. Or it’s just ultra limited / very expensive.
As much as I love Nintendo, I can’t blame third party devs if the cost to put on a full cart is prohibitively high, or if Nintendo just didn’t offer it. Either is HIGHLY plausible given Nintendos track record with carts.
Still get it as I’m a big fan of the series, and hope that 4 brings back more wackiness to it than 3 had.
Also, I think many fail to realize exactly what local co-op means in terms of a split screen 3D game. It means the game has to be rendered fully TWICE. Two separate instances of the same game. Highly taxing. So it’s not surprising in the least they don’t have local co-op. It’s possible they could optimize and make it work at a later date however, but given that it runs 30fps in single, I doubt it.
Be willing to bet split screen on my Series X wouldn’t maintain 60 fps, or if it did, it would take a huge res hit to do so.
So when I first got my Switch 2, the speeds were horrible. No matter what I tried to do with my router. Next up I tried hotspotting my phones 5g, and while better was still not hitting max speeds like it should.
I chalked it up to early adopter days and every one of us downloading a boatload of crap from the eshop (my bad, I accounted for 1TB of that over the course of 2 weeks).
Finally I ended up bridging my WiFi channels for the “seemless” pass off between 5ghz and 2.4ghz (which Switch 1 absolutely hates this), then I did the old Switch 1 trick - set my MTU to 1500 and set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 for the first one, and 0.0.0.0 for the second one.
That did the trick. Repeated the same for my phones hotspot and now I get the full 150-300mbs download speed as expected.
My S2 hits about 22mbs on my WiFi (which is a 25mb down / 1.5mb dsl service). My Steam Deck hits 24-26mbs on it.
All in all the S2 downloads much faster AND installs that data sooooo much faster than S1 did. About on par with my SD, but I’ll chose the S2 over SD just because the download compression is much better on Nintendos side than Valves. N is wizards at compression though. Valve isn’t far behind, but MS could learn a thing or two with compression, Jesus every patch size there is 10-100gbs unless its an indie.
I’ve played a bit of MC with my daughters, maybe 20 hours total, and even within 20 hours the copper being able to make copper blocks and that’s it was a glaring issue. 🤣
MC has to be the first game I’ve played where copper was useless….
I’m biased toward Anker, love their batteries. They’re solid, last a long time, and work perfectly. Can also attest to Belkin too, but given the option I’d go Anker.
UGREEN I’ve heard really good things on Reddit, but have not used them personally.
Another key factor….. a system launch in general is wallet depleting. A lot of us probably only choose 1-2 games to buy with the system and that taps us out.
Not to mention the high cost of Express MicroSD cards currently - that’s basically a third or fourth game depending on size you choose.
I know personally I was aiming for 4 games plus MKW with bundle…. but after buying a 1TB express, that knocked my launch game number down to 2 plus MKW. Got Cyberpunk and Rune Factory 5.
And while I did get them physical, I was prepped originally to get them digital. They were my launch choice priorities regardless. Only got them physical to save space on the mem card honestly.
@romanista All the Pikmin games have looked gorgeous for their time, but 3 and 4 are especially gorgeous. Not many Nintendo made games I’d say absolutely deserve a 2k or 4k version. Pikmin 3&4 would def be on that list though.
Honestly wondering if it’s an emulator issue…. Pikmin 3 having screen flicker….. and I experienced it on Borderlands 3 last night…. ACNH just got a Switch 2 bug fix patch as well, wonder if there was screen flicker there too….
I own it on Xbox and Steam, still would be a day one buy for me to have it nicely portable. Although I will say the Steam Deck runs it nicely too, I’d rather have the complete collection on Switch 2 if possible.
I’m loving it on Switch 2, truly. Is it the absolute most eye blistering experience? No, Series X/Ps5/Pc can do it better for that no doubt.
However, portable is more convenient for me, especially extremely mature rated games such as this due to being a parent and having 6 and 9 year old kiddos. And much like Witcher 3, I own CP on 3 different platforms, and the only one I’ll likely 100% is Switch.
For those in the fence, trust it’s a great experience. If you were comfortable with Witcher 3 you’ll be blown away by CP on Switch 2, truly.
I hope and pray there’s an update in the works to bring Witcher 3 up to par on Switch 2. Even if it’s $10, it’ll be a day one buy for me.
@Exerion76 i would imagine so. But I haven’t made it far to make that judgement. But I do know it runs very well and looks great from the onset after all the patches
Edit - I can say as someone who’s ran a game store in the past that the kiosks always have one of two units - either a demo unit only running demos that are never indicative of final product due, or a retail copy that is also not fully indicative of the final product because it’s not patched. Employees don’t get told or paid to update those systems and their games. And in the case of demo units with preinstalled demos - likely what Switch 2 kiosks are currently. It’s impossible to patch them as they’re in demo mode, and only Nintendo reps can update them
@Exerion76 Store version likely doesn’t have day one patch even, so I wouldn’t base your opinion on an instore version. Try again on an eShop demo, or buy from a store with a 7 day no questions asked return policy - GameStop use to have one, as well as Walmart. Not sure if they still do.
After playing on Series X and Switch 2 it’s truly hard to see any major differences in the versions.
PS - there’s been two patches since release, day one and a smaller update just 2 days ago.
Do hope this gets a proper S2 patch. I’ll return to it to finish the expansion and mess around some more if so. Still may just after reading this article actually…. We’ll see how much room I have left between 256+1TB after my downloads all finish. Lordy it’s been a LOOOOONG transfer road. 🤣
(I live in a small town in the USA which has 2 options for “fast” internet - ATT DSL which is what I have and it’s capped at 25mb, but it’s stable there…. Or Casscomm which offers Cable up to 150mb, or fiber up to 1GB, but neither are stable and both have outages, and the customer service sucks…. So really only one option; lol)
I’ve been thinking this all along once I saw SW Outlaws was coming. The baked in ray tracing that game has, and S2 ability to run it more or less proves that. Even at ultra low resolution the steam deck can’t really run that game in a playable fashion unless you edit the config files and disable Ray tracing (there’s no menu option to do so). Then the game becomes playable, but looks atrocious.
I think a lot of people disregard or don’t realize that S2’s APU is based on RTX 30xx tech, which is nothing to sneeze at. Sure it’s not a full fledged 30xx, but the tech alone puts it leagues ahead of previous generations.
TIL I’ll be able to gameshare with my daughters’ and wife’s Switch 1s and that is frickin awesome! Sometimes we want to play a multiplayer game, but one wants to watch tv. So we’ve had to buy extra copies of stuff like Smash or Mario Kart. Hopefully those games will get updates for game share so the “odd duck out” problem is solved.
@TenEighty I just wanna point out that Switch does not in fact use tech from 12 years ago.
The Nivida Tegra T239 is a bespoke chipset made specifically for Switch 2, and its Ampere architecture is based on the RTX 30 series which released in 2020.
A lot of people are seriously under estimating the Switch 2 and its capabilities. Sure raw power wise it’s been likened to a PS4/Pro. However the relatively newer tech that the T239 boasts is LEAGUES ahead of the PS4/Pro chipset.
One telling thing to look at is Star Wars Outlaws. A game that is built around Ray Tracing. And without dedicated hardware to handle the Ray tracing then the game runs extremely poorly (See Steam Deck) Ray Tracing cannot be disabled on that game without altering the config file; and when you do the game will run, but will look horrendous. (again, see steam deck).
The T239 has dedicated hardware to handle Ray Tracing, thanks to its RTX 30 roots, and is the reason why SWO looks and performs much better on S2 than SD or even possibly Ally/Legion.
Nintendo didn’t just cram an old tech chipset in there like they did with Tegra X1 and the Switch. They went full bore on a much better and higher end chip this time around. It truly should have no problems handling anything from this current gen, minus maybe MH Wilds (but that’s due to that game having optimization issues more than anything, and mainly on PC)
You’re gonna have to pass grandpa his readers here, I can’t really see a difference besides very subtle lightning difference. PS4/5 has slightly darker shadowing which gives the image a nicer look.
@Dhaladog Not from what I’ve seen. Aside from the obvious portable ability to play whenever/where ever. Though it’s possible CDPR could sneak in some Nintendo goodies/easter eggs for this version. Bethesda did it with Skyrim, so it’s possible.
Personally I own CP2077 on Xbox, and Steam Deck, but I’m still getting this version for two reasons…. 1.) CDPRs commitment to games and gamers. They worked their rears off rectifying the horrible CP launch and made it right, and the full game on cart shows that commitment. 2.) It’s an amazing game that I have yet to fully experience even tho I own it on 2 other platforms. Same happened with Witcher 3 and the Switch version was the only one I completed 100%.
Anyone that hasn’t played this and is interested should def get it on Switch 2, and those that have it on other platforms but are interested because it’s CP, it’s portable, etc should also get it on the merit that it’s one of a handful of games fully on cart and should support CDPRs decision there.
@BrokenCiv Np! I only knew cause I caught it on the Fantasy Life sub reddit. It’s a shame but understandable, Level 5 has had publishing difficulties the last handful of years so I’m just grateful for western releases at this point! 🤣
@BrokenCiv as for B&G, it’s the same reason Res Evil 4 wouldn’t make a lot of sense in the list - there exists a remaster on the eshop already of both. But I do like having original works available when possible at least to compare, or in the off chance it’s a superior version overall.
This is why I like MS Smart Delivery and Play Anywhere games….. one copy, all their platforms, and it detects which platform you’re on to download the proper copy. Wish Nintendo could follow that route….
As a fan of both Xbox and Nintendo, I’ve been saying it since they went buddy-buddy, MS, for the love of god, start tossing Fable, Fallout, Oblivion, Pillars 2, and Avowed on Switch(2). You guys will PRINT money.
Sure those games run good-ok on Deck, but bespoke versions for Switch 2 would sell like hotcakes.
Horizon would also do well on Switch as the system has historically had a hole in the racing genre. Tokyo Xtreme Racer proved on Steam Deck that gamers enjoy a handheld racing experience.
@PALversusNTSC that’s what I’ve heard. I never got origins, but I bought legends for my daughter. I may have to snatch her Switch one night just to play it, or do a gameshare to my system. 🤣🤣🤣
@JohnnyMind yeah the first three that came to mind as great Ubi titles were Lost Crown and Child of Light and Rayman Legends. Also heard good things about AC Valhalla, and while I have it, I haven’t had time to properly get into it. As well as Mario + Rabbids titles.
Overall tho decently solid titles like Fenix Rising, most AC games, Anno, Farcry, Splinter Cell, etc
@JohnnyMind I tossed it on my Xbox wishlist at launch, and waited exactly 6 months before it dropped half price (60% actually)on the $100 version. Thats when I picked it up. Honestly, most Ubi games are worth a fair $40. Some of their titles are truly great, but I can’t really think of one in the past 5-10 years they wasn’t at least a 7/10, which to me is $20-40 value range depending on size and scope.
Wouldn’t mind seeing some performance / graphical upgrades for all their current games on Switch. Especially Fenix, and PoP, which run fine but could run/look better.
The newest AC reboot linage would be nice too. Tho I’m not sure I’d double/triple dip, as I haven’t even finished them on Xbox/Deck yet… dang backlog is a few miles long!
@Ultimapunch just to chime in….. it’s been 13 years since Wii U launched, 14 since 3DS, and 19 years since Wii launched….. any games you’ve purchased on those systems are still available to redownload. So the 10 year part of your statement is putting it at the extremely unlikely low end….
Otherwise I concur with everything else. I’d be willing to bet you’ll still be able to download your wii digital purchases in 10 more years…..
And these key cards will operate in the same fashion. You just have a little plastic trinket that says you bought a digital game basically. I mean I don’t hate the idea. Do find it rather silly, but it’s Nintendos way of trying to make everyone happy as best they can.
@NeonPizza was a huge mega man fan so I remember well their box art!
Even more depressing to me was missing the smell of opening the cardboard boxes games. Was just an amazing smell…. Like a gamer version of the smell of soul food. The closest I’ve gotten to that in recent times was the limited print run of Binding of Isaac. Had never played the game despite owning it on 3DS….. but when I saw the manual that came with on the Switch physical release I knew I had to buy it.
I didn’t get much into PlayStation back then, was a Nintendo and Sega fan more so than anything, often owning the same game on both systems like Mortal Kombat 1-3, NBA Jam, etc… went Saturn/32x/Dreamcast route rather than Ps1-2…. Tho I didn’t own both briefly for Metal Gear, Resident Evil, and the prime reason for grabbing a ps2 was Guitar Hero. 🤣
The Sega boxes I loved for the art, and because they were so much like Blockbuster / rental store VHS boxes…..
I’ll probably buy one for the novelty aspect of it more than anything, but honestly speaking I’ve moved over to primarily digital. I still buy certain physicals I want to collect or because it makes more sense (like being able to share a copy of Mario with my kiddos since they have their own Switches)….but mostly I buy digital anymore.
@Neonpizza Exactly. I really stopped buying physical when they stopped putting manuals in the boxes. When they went to plastic cases that was the first hit for me….. I miss the old cardboard boxes and their amazing art. When I worked at GameStop and saw just how easy it was to get plastic cases and print your own, usually better, box art…. That was the next major hit. And around that time is when manuals stopped being printed too. Around the 360/Ps3 era I saw the coming change and embraced it…. While it sucked to not be able to trade, it also made it so I didn’t REGRET my trades, as I so often have….
Now my Switch library is about 70% digital, 30% physical. My Series X library is 99% digital, with only Elden Ring being physical. And my Steam Deck has been my go between godsend for Ps titles, pc only titles (The Sims Legacy/Tokyo Xtreme Racer), Xbox remoting, and some of the more amazingly optimized titles that run well on Deck.
@larryisaman I used a setup posted on Proton DB, plus I’ve got Decky FrameGen available for the DLSS unlock, as that was suggested as the best method. Also switched to Fullscreen so I could adjust the res to 1280x800
Oddly enough Oblivion Remaster looks great and performs nicely under the XeSS. Haven’t checked if DLSS works better there or best settings for that.
@Rentaro I got it on Xbox, but it’s so hard for me to play mature games since I’ve got little kids, and because of that I’ve barely played…. Maybe an hour or two tops….. So having games like this portable is amazing! Really stoked for this and Elden!
Honestly speaking, I’m starting to believe S2 is actually a bit more capable than even a Legion Go / Ally….
After some quick research…. It seems the ryzen Z1 doesn’t do ray tracing all that well typically speaking it tanks performance…..
Whereas we know S2 has built in ray trace hardware, and furthermore is capable of running Star Wars Outlaws far greater than a Deck could possibly hope to - which that bar isn’t set high.
Curious…. Legion/Ally owners, have you played Star Wars Outlaws on your machine, and how does it run?

@TheExile285 I’d be ridiculously happy with a Bethesda collection on Switch 2 - Fallout 3/NV/4, Oblivion Remaster, and Starfield.
Would also be down for Fallout 1&2, as well as some Obsidian love with Pillars 2, Avowed, and Outer Worlds Spacers Choice edition, and OW2.

Re: Fear Not, Using GameShare Between Switch 1 & 2 Looks Super Simple
TIL I’ll be able to gameshare with my daughters’ and wife’s Switch 1s and that is frickin awesome! Sometimes we want to play a multiplayer game, but one wants to watch tv. So we’ve had to buy extra copies of stuff like Smash or Mario Kart. Hopefully those games will get updates for game share so the “odd duck out” problem is solved.
Re: Hellblade Looks To Be Getting A Limited Run Physical Switch Release
Wonder if we’ll get Hellblade 2 on Switch 2….. I love the first one but got stumped near the crow (first?) boss. Need to go back and finish it.
Re: Yakuza 0 Comparison Video May Give Switch 2 The Edge Over PS4
Re: Yakuza 0 Comparison Video May Give Switch 2 The Edge Over PS4
You’re gonna have to pass grandpa his readers here, I can’t really see a difference besides very subtle lightning difference. PS4/5 has slightly darker shadowing which gives the image a nicer look.
Re: Video: Check Out New Direct-Feed Gameplay Of Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2
Re: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Switch Update Arrives Next Week
@BrokenCiv Np! I only knew cause I caught it on the Fantasy Life sub reddit. It’s a shame but understandable, Level 5 has had publishing difficulties the last handful of years so I’m just grateful for western releases at this point! 🤣
Re: Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Switch Update Arrives Next Week
@BrokenCiv the switch 2 release has been confirmed as an upgrade only. The physical edition is the Switch 1 version with an upgrade pack download.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developer Seems Open To A Switch 2 Port
Have yet to give this a proper go, but have it downloaded on my Xbox. Friend says it’s the best game this year by far.
Re: Video: 10 GameCube Games We Want On Switch 2's Online Expansion Pack
@BrokenCiv as for B&G, it’s the same reason Res Evil 4 wouldn’t make a lot of sense in the list - there exists a remaster on the eshop already of both. But I do like having original works available when possible at least to compare, or in the off chance it’s a superior version overall.
Re: Video: 10 GameCube Games We Want On Switch 2's Online Expansion Pack
After playing PSO on the deck a bit, can confirm, we need a legit portable version of that master piece of a game!
Surprised MGS: Twin Snakes didn’t make the list! That along with RE4 and PSO were some of the best third party titles to grace the system.
Also, why no Eternal Darkness?! Da crap is that missing for?!
Re: Feature: "We’re Very Confident" - CD Projekt Red On Delivering The Full Cyberpunk 2077 Experience On Switch 2
Day one for me as well, have the physical edition pre-ordered.
Hoping they revisit Witcher 3 for a performance / visual upgrade. And extra hoping for a Witcher 4 Switch 2 version.
Still need to go through Witcher 1&2 on Xbox/Deck
Re: Buy Deltarune On Switch And Get The Switch 2 Version "At No Additional Cost"
This is why I like MS Smart Delivery and Play Anywhere games….. one copy, all their platforms, and it detects which platform you’re on to download the proper copy. Wish Nintendo could follow that route….
Re: Xbox's Latest Multiplatform Release Has Been Announced
Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance
@PALversusNTSC that’s what I’ve heard. I never got origins, but I bought legends for my daughter. I may have to snatch her Switch one night just to play it, or do a gameshare to my system. 🤣🤣🤣
Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance
@JohnnyMind yeah the first three that came to mind as great Ubi titles were Lost Crown and Child of Light and Rayman Legends. Also heard good things about AC Valhalla, and while I have it, I haven’t had time to properly get into it. As well as Mario + Rabbids titles.
Overall tho decently solid titles like Fenix Rising, most AC games, Anno, Farcry, Splinter Cell, etc
Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance
@JohnnyMind I tossed it on my Xbox wishlist at launch, and waited exactly 6 months before it dropped half price (60% actually)on the $100 version. Thats when I picked it up. Honestly, most Ubi games are worth a fair $40. Some of their titles are truly great, but I can’t really think of one in the past 5-10 years they wasn’t at least a 7/10, which to me is $20-40 value range depending on size and scope.
Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Might Already Be Teasing More Switch 2 Games
Wouldn’t mind seeing some performance / graphical upgrades for all their current games on Switch. Especially Fenix, and PoP, which run fine but could run/look better.
The newest AC reboot linage would be nice too. Tho I’m not sure I’d double/triple dip, as I haven’t even finished them on Xbox/Deck yet… dang backlog is a few miles long!
Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?
Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?
Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?
Re: Harvest Moon Meets Red Dead Redemption In 'Cattle Country' On Switch This May
No demo on the American eShop yet, but the demo is on Steam. Shame was gonna try this out today!
Re: Opinion: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Best Gameplay Feature Is Straight Out Of Mario's Playbook
Re: Opinion: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Best Gameplay Feature Is Straight Out Of Mario's Playbook
Picked this up on Deck yesterday but haven’t given it a proper go yet. Heard nothing but amazing things about it however, so can’t wait to dive in.
If it’s as good as everyone says, then I truly hope it comes to Switch 2. May even double dip if it does.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2 Is "Best Way" To Play Handheld Says CD Projekt Red
@Bizzyb once I saw it running Star Wars Outlaws I knew it was way more capable than I originally expected…..
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2 Is "Best Way" To Play Handheld Says CD Projekt Red
@Rentaro I got it on Xbox, but it’s so hard for me to play mature games since I’ve got little kids, and because of that I’ve barely played…. Maybe an hour or two tops….. So having games like this portable is amazing! Really stoked for this and Elden!
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2 Is "Best Way" To Play Handheld Says CD Projekt Red
