@NFrealinkling We both know 90% of people will use this to pirate, but a small percentage of people will just make legal digital back ups of their own games for convenience or for any other reason, and they should be legally fully covered to do that. So yeah, Nintendo shouldn't be allowed to perma ban from online anyone if they can't distinguish back upers and pirates.

And they’re right. As a 95% handheld gamer, I have no intentions of picking the NS2 until an OLED revision comes along. I have my beefy PC for docked play and my OLED NS1 will do just fine for 2-3 extra years.

It's such an optimised game. I can easily see 60fps on NS2.

FS games are approachable, you just don't pay attention. They don't do easy/medium/hard, they let you play online and gank a boss, splitting aggro and basically giving you an easy mode.

Also while I like the gameplay, ''easilly tops'' Elden Ring is quite the stretch. I can see it being on par but way, way behind Sekiro and Bloodborne especially.

I’m missing a hard mode or something of that calibre if I think of Odyssey, where the only difficult challenges were super late game.
But yes, looks like a system seller.

Disappointed. LCD panels are cheap today, there's no way around it. To incorporate a small LCD without even considering dimming zones is just so lazy. Hence why SDR max brightness looks actually better than HDR max. The panel just isn't capable of creating a good enough contrast ratio.

I would've prefered a 60Hz no VRR 1080p OLED NS2 over what we got without any question, as I game 95% in handheld and seeing such a significant downgrade over my OLED model...it's just not good. We aren't talking about a 200 bucks chinese console for emulation...

Clearly Nintendo just did it because we aren't in a post Wii U era. They know an OLED revision without any changes will sell like hot cakes.

Netflix and other streaming apps would be a nice addition too. It’s a 1080p HDR tablet in the end without the Joy-Con, so why not.

The most impressive Switch 2 title on release. Change my mind.

It’s only bad in TV mode. Handheld I force 720p native with a mod and it looks very sharp on my NS OLED. But yes, docked mode is finally viable.

I have a RTX 5080 rig and a modded Switch OLED. I don't need more for now, and especially don't need to go back to LCD. My house is OLED only since years and I plan to keep it that way.

Now, an OLED revision? I'll jump day 1 on it.

It's still mind blowing the cult Game Freak has managed to create here. Some of the worst perfomant and looking games on the Switch and yet they manage to sell millions, reusing the same formula for over 20 years outside Arceus.

I liked Pokemon on the Game Boy Colour but man, can't imagine just playing the same thing, but at 20fps and with PS2 graphics.

Not here, my modded OLED is staying with me for much, much longer. Indies will be better on it still, due to the display.

Wish games were in 16:9 though, multiple titles have patches by now.

Game looks terrible on the vanilla unit, luckily there's a patch so you can play 720p handheld with some overclocking and it looks amazing on my OLED. Sure, this doubles the frame rate, but it's not like this is a 60fps mandatory title.
Nevertheless, another great showing of the power difference.

Unless I was a dev in one of the CoD studios, I'd be scared stiff.

Since modding my OLED I'm using the console 10x more over my 2018 unit. It suddenly becomes a Switch Pro with a gorgeous display. Mainly overclocking allows either 720p native in most games or there's 60fps patches, plus games with unlocked frame rate can reach 60fps much, much easier. Just doing now RE5 720p60fps with minor dips in super heavy areas. Without overclocking it's a 20-50fps experience.

Only downside is more heat (expected more tbh) and battery life cut in half (2.5h) but I never had such a long gaming session anyway. I adore my modded OLED and it will never sell it, Switch 2 or not.

This is for US only. In the EU it is legal to do with your console whatever you want as long as you use it for personal use and there is no monetary benefit from it. So yeah, Nintendo, go to hell with your EULA. Good luck :]

Imagine not making this 60fps

Can we please understand 64GB cartridges cost like 10x over a typical Bluray.

Do not get me wrong, I could care less about physical releases with 2x 2TB microSDs for my Switch, but if you need big games fully on the cartridge, then do not complain about 70 or 80 USD games.

Yep. I play much more on PC now due to…Jack Sparrow “demos”.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t value work. I try the games and either uninstall or buy a copy. Luckily Switch gets a lot of demos to do this. I do not trust reviews.

People don't understand how BRUTAL GTA V was for the PS3 and 360, and those were traditional consoles with no wattage restriction. Do not, I repeat, do not be naive. Switch 2 version is highly unlikely.

Depends what you have: V1 and V2? Yeah sell it.

Lite? Depends how much you value that small screen and portability

OLED: I wouldn’t, horror/dark games will still look better

And if your console is modded then always keep it.

They’d have to use a 128GB cartridges and I bet those run at 20-30 bucks a pop. So yeah, let the crowd decide. Make it digitally 49,99 and 69,99-79,99 physically.

I own a 42” LG C4 as a “monitor” and occasionally hook my Switch. Its the GOAT when it comes to price/value. And its actually glossy compared to the majority of matte monitors.

We all know PC is objectively the BEST place for preservation as its not bound by gens, and you cam pirate 30yo games and keep them in multiple HDDs for eternity.

One has a top of the line AI upscaler and the other is stuck with FSR. It’s pretty simple. No game will look better on a 4K TV with the Steam Deck.

My OC'd af OLED will do just fine until the inevitable Switch 2 OLED. Plus I'll have so many exclusives to play at that time. No rush.

256GB isn’t an issue AS long as downloads finally match 2020 standards. OG Switch had a prehistoric WiFi chip and downloading a game was a chore. If we can now download 30GB games on fiber in 5-10 minutes, I can survive without needing an overpriced Express mSD for a while.

Looks to be more powerful than we all expected and it was about time. OG Switch is a killer formula so why change it, just improve upon every aspect of it and make sure third parties can port all their games.

As others have said, it's a bummer, but I'm sure it will be way brighter than the OLED Switch which caps at 350 nit and just isn't enough outside.

So give me 500-600 nit, 120Hz VRR and HDR and I can tank the greyish blacks.

Some dudes saying that 20$ “ain’t that bad” for (in some instances) a mere upscale and vsync removal need a reality check.

As much as I love high refresh rate gaming, it's just not the same with sticks as with a proper mouse on PC. It is nice to have the option, but I'll be playing at 1080p60 without any question.

Nvm I'm challenged, it has mouse support so I'll definitely look into it.
