@Zeldinion Well that's your opinion, and it's valid but neither true nor false. And like I said to somebody else: it's fair if you want to see that in gaming news, but judging by the failure/restructuring of outlets pushing political opinions I don't think your view is in the majority.

For its part, Nintendo Life is pretty impartial but they do have that weird Bluesky / anti-Twitter thing going on but it's low-key enough to go by unnoticed.

@DiggleDog I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough. But those are not cases of a games news outlets inserting politics into gaming news - that was the news itself and not a partisan opinion but a report of fact.

I'm instead referring to the practice of outlets who push specific political views through their reporting: often via negative press. It's fair if someone wants to read that, but judging by the ongoing failure of such establishments I think it's unpopular. I personally don't want to see it, nor do I want a novice without qualification in political science or political studies to push their opinions on me.

It's sad people got fired. But if an outlet doesn't write pieces which belie the fact the author hasn't actually watched/played the thing in question, or insert politics into pieces about games then I think they'd keep more of their readership and thus make more money.

Although, what with YouTube and such there's a lot of competition abound - that was one thing that got me into Nintendo Life. But the impartial articles and (mostly) lack of leak reports keeps me here.

Re: Xbox Is Raising The Price Of Consoles, Accessories, And Games Worldwide

Guys, girls and everyone else. If you can't afford this stuff you need to record all your spending in a spreadsheet and cut out any spending on wants until you can afford it. If you can only afford needs before expending your paycheck, then I suggest getting educated in a well paid profession that there's demand for. And it's never too late, I know people in their 50s who trained to become teachers. Only you can change things. These consoles are really not that expensive at the end of the day if you do this (especially the spending monitor).

I'm incredibly hyped for this game. It feels like a breath of fresh air to go with DK for a new 3D platforming game too. It makes me wonder if the next 3D Mario is still a long, long way off, though. Here's hoping they do a BOTW open world style Mario Game - now that would be cool!

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Comments On Switch 2's "Hefty" Price Hikes

I don't get why people are crying to be honest, even if you're on minimum wage you could just work an extra day to buy a game. For the rest of us it's not even a days work. If you've got financial troubles too, then you better monitor your spending in a spreadsheet so you can see where to trim the fat because most spending is unnecessary.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

Managed to get mine sorted today in the Netherlands, they'd been sold out previously. The Switch 2 + Mario Kart Bundle is the obvious choice. Good luck getting one everyone else and my condolences if it's out of reach for now <3

Re: ICYMI: Nintendo Is Hosting Another Direct Later This Month

@LikelySatan It's not a judgement of a games worthiness but its value for money. If you only care about how good a game is, then you're price inelastic. However, as a practically useful metric of a game's 'worthiness', monetary value spent per hour played is as good as you're going to get when it comes to optimising the allocation of your financial resources towards entertainment that is for you price elastic.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

Dazman

@swoose I still think the games are great value for money. I can pay more to go to a restaurant and that only lasts a few hours, yet the game lasts a lifetime. You could buy one a month and still have more than you can reasonably play in a year rather quickly, especially with the old library, PC games and other forms of entertainment // time spending to contend with.
