@BolkaRover I'm educated enough to know that Rare hasn't released a good game that wasn't a port since 2001. Even some of their ports were terrible too, like Conkers Bad Fur Day Reloaded. Now they make shovelware and gimmick games for Microsoft's game pass because nobody would buy them otherwise. It's sad to see.

Maybe Everwild will be good, but it looks like another generic clone game for game pass. So I'm not holding my breath.

@FirstEmperor Yeah you raise a good point r.e. Xbox. It's time for them to depart from the console industry because it's a pointless distraction. Their games belong on other consoles. Microsoft should focus on games and sell off the IPs they are unable to make good games with, or simply don't use.

Xbox should just stick to software, give up on the console market and put everything they have on Nintendo. It's their natural home.

I love the trend for picking up old games and giving them something new. For why leave something good like that to rot?

@Cia I hope you're right, but they were discussing a hostile takeover there. The one saving grace is that I think agencies regulating market competition would prohibit it.

After what Microsoft has done to Rare they need to stay the hell away from Nintendo. It'd become junk if team Xbox got their hands on it.

I'm so hyped for this. I already preordered the physical edition because it's JP, but I was disappointed the two sega (JP) games were not included. So it was more than a pleasant surprise to see this announcement. Thanks to the folks at LRG!

@MattmanForever They are releasing it digitally on November 22nd if you can't get the physical edition!

@Takoda I enjoy them. It's fun preparing to do the 7-stars with friends, chatting in group about the strategy and such and then one-shotting it.

Hype. I was going to buy a Gamecube to play this. I'll still buy the Gamecube for some other classics, like SAB2 and Rogue Squadron but I'll save myself for the Switch version.

How is it that I buy Scarlet AND Violet and Nintendo bends me over and whispers into my ear "so you'll be happy to buy the dlc 2x as well". What a greedy company.

@ganonms Kids have different standards, they aren't bothered about the performance like an adult might be. They're just there for the Pokemon. The sales are a testament to that fact. I play N64 a lot and almost every game has huge lag, but I never noticed it as a kid. I also don't care now, the games are fun.

@ganonms Just because adults choose to play it, it does not mean it's aimed at them. The target audience is children, and their parents who pay for it. Two groups who, for the most part, couldn't care less how well it runs. The fact it is not patched proves they don't care what some thirty-something nit-pickers are saying about the framerates: it's not their intended audience.

@ganonms It's a game for children, they don't really care about optimising it. Ten year old Kevin won't even notice the difference.

Do we actually need to use something like unity anyway? I can just as easily code a game in Visual Studio as I can in Unity.

@Mauzuri I loved Ren and Stimpy as a kid. No moral bs jam packed into every story. Just some creepy drawings of people like prisoner Kowalski. That's all I wanted, something weird and wonderful. Not a lecture.

These are the best Pokemon games to date, and I say that as someone who has played every single generation at release. I'm hyped for the DLC, I want that little mask man. But the second DLC looks like the real treat, as the safari zone styled land looks awesome.

I'll buy the next gen day one, but there's always a fear with Nintendo that they will release a dud and quickly drop it for something new.

How are the battles going to work? I have a box of level 100 max IV and EV trained goliaths. Game Freak isn't going to throw a load of level 75's with forgiving AI at me, are they?

The footage looks as laggy as Scarlet // Violet. Even the N64 models were better too. Go play Pokemon Stadium 2 and look at how much more detailed the mons were then compared to now. The textures might be lower resolution but there is more varied tone and shadowing, and the animations are a lot better. Rhydon's horn spins, for example. Pokemon needs to focus on making the games good and not stuffing it with an unrealistic amount of creatures to maintain.

I'm such a Nintendo fanman, so the more the better in my view. I will shovel money into it.

I was playing Pokemon stadium 2 last night and it was noticeable how much better the Pokemon and their associated animations look than in modern games. Sure, the textures and such are dated but there is much more detail and tone in them than the present models. Perhaps it would be better to just have a smaller limit on how many pokemon you can get in each generation so that time could be better spent on other aspects of the game.

Oh boy, thanks for the shovel ware Nintendo. You sure are generous.

@johnvboy I will complain when he's not the new voice actor for Mario. How can Nintendo dog my boy Charles for a Pratt and then not use him in the new games!?

If they make it Chris Pratt nobody can complain when he voices the next movie again.

I'm not overly bothered by the frame rate personally, I still play N64.

@HalBailman I don't know. It's the cost of a meal at a restaurant, and that's gone in an hour. I collect physical copies of (good) N64 games but it's still nice to have them on the Switch online expansion.

@HalBailman It's 50 quid a year or something. Absolute change.

The thing that really makes Nintendo competitive is their IPs. Sure, they are also at the forefront of (physical) innovation in the industry too. But that quickly gets copied, yet few can successfully come close to generating such beloved IPs.

It's a really addictive game, and would be fun for some couch coop. I might have to get it on Switch too

@NinjaNicky It's not so bad if you don't play it on a 4k 65' TV. It's still better than some of the old games too, which had huge lag inside battles (especially double battles).

I suspect it's like Arceus' ability: you can pick it or hold an item to pick it.

Nintendo is getting at least one letter of complaint if the European release doesn't come with a full art

I like the artwork but the model looks really bad. It's so goofy, but I like that about it. It's why I picked Fuecoco too: the look on its face is the stupidest thing ever.

Is multiplayer possible with it?

Can they really patent formulas for calculating game physics? This seems horrific.

That's a hard pass from me.

I just bought all of them on the 3DS store before shutdown recently. What a disappointment it'll be if they put it for free on the Switch online, unless it comes with multiplayer.

People crying about frame rates and such but none of that matters. It's a kids game, kids don't care about that. And the battles run fine, so people running in the meta couldn't care less either: the only issue there is smogon or live. The huge sales figures are a testament to this.

I'm most hopeful for a pokemon black // white // 2 remake announcement, plus a new legends arceus game to go with it. Legends Kyurem rumours have been floating around of course. But I doubt i'll be happy.

@Anti-Matter Looks like you're in the minority there. Hardly anybody cares about some trivial issues when it's the best Pokemon game ever.

@Bizaster It's not wise to give away information that can be used to reset passwords online. Such as favourite X, birthday etc.

@Dringo Yeah, twenty years later Microsoft made a reasonably successful game using the brand name. If you buy a broom, and then you replace the head and the handle do you still have the same broom?
