Welcome to the future!

I don't mind how many games are released as long as they're high quality and replayable. In that sense, I'd prefer less releases if it meant they were of a higher quality.

If it has a Nintendo label on it though, I'm going to buy it. But no boxes next gen (apart from Pokémon).

It strikes me as an odd position to be worried about another game announcement "stealing the limelight" from legends Z-A.

For most people are able to notice and be excited about multiple things simultaneously: like IPs outside of Pokémon. And let's say there was a game that was so good everybody forgot about Legends Z-A — wouldn't that be a good thing!?!?!

But each to their own.

Personally, I want it all and more Multiple announcement hype!

@nhSnork There's not the usual stutter and fuzzy textures we're all accustomed to on Switch 1: especially the stutter, as there's not a single game with those sorts of graphics on Switch 1 which runs without stuttering frame-rate. Moreover, the games you listed don't look as good as them: NMS has a weird glare that other versions don't, for example.

@Bolt_Strike I think you're definitely in the minority with that view because BDSP didn't even sell well enough to get the Platinum DLC. It has definitely been tidied up, but at launch it was a mess too: the Pokemon following mechanic worked better in Soul Silver and Heart Gold for example.

For my part, I thought it was okay. But my view of it has been fully soured by the lack of Platinum content.

I feel like Nintendo are ignoring Black and White to be honest because Legends skipped past it for X and Y. And wasn't Legends Arceus based on DP and then we also got BDSP? I'll be disappointed if we get an X and Y remake too...

Would love another Gold and Silver game too but let's be honest, Soul Silver and Heart Gold are the best games in the franchise. They could just re-release those with some QoL improvements and some extra options//features like a hard mode, battle towers, contests, secret bases etc and I think most people would be ecstatic!

Knowing Nintendo, they will target the Christmas season for the Switch 2 release so that they can squeeze every ounce of life out of the OLED in the meantime.

Wow amazing! I'd never subscribe to a television service like Netflix but I sure as heck will watch this on YouTube. I love the style! Would love to see a Pokémon game in this art style, it would be so odd yet wonderful. I'm sure it could be done?

You can't put N on the picture and expect us not to get excited: obviously, the answer is yes!

I'm surprised people still pay for Civ at launch given the series is plagued by the same issues every time: namely, that it's a barebones version of the previous iteration that needs several expansions to come out before it's as good or better.

I got Jamboree recently, and I must say, it's a lot better than the previous version on Switch. I love it! Nintendo really listened to the fans on that one. But given the size of the Mario Party franchise, I'm surprised it took them 3 games to get it right on Switch!

It's a great idea for Nintendo because they can sell us an OLED model at a later date

@Samalik Ahh that sucks... There's still a few around, but they also sell second-hand and retro stuff. I took a trip to Utrecht once to see one of their stores, but it was a little drab if I'm honest. I still think the best place to go in NL is CEX: but they're few and far between. It's worth the trip, but the UK ones are a lot better!

These kinds of shops have all gone bankrupt in the Netherlands - the only ones left sell second hand games and other stuff.

I'd love a remake with the game as it was intended to be instead of split over a few iterations!

@anoyonmus I've got one of those silvery Pokémon wired switch controllers. I just plug it in the USB and it works fine on Steam for anything supporting a controller. It's great for games like Stardew Valley, Soul Calibur VI, Forza Horizon etc

@Rykdrew I play Forza Horizon on pc all the time with a switch controller. It works fine. I forget which one - 4 or 5.

@Markatron84 So true, especially when 99% of them come with nothing in them other than the cartridge.

The main issue with game boxes is all the space they take up. I love them, but I've got like 100 Switch ones, some GameCube boxes, some DS/3DS boxes + loose cartridges. A bunch of N64 and SNES cartridges. It's just too much space being taken up. I'm going to go all digital for Switch 2 except in some rare cases: like Pokémon games.

I'm rapidly starting to change my mind on AI slop in games - it won't be used to improve anything I fear, quite the opposite. It'll be the sign of corners cut...

Nintendo ought to close down the accounts of the people engaged in such practice. It's unacceptable.

I think grading in general is a huge scam. It's like making a company to give yourself an award: there's no value in it apart from self-aggrandisement.

The whole industry reminds me of a group of telegram maxis who sit around psyching each other up to buy more memecoins by crowing about how high their purchases have inflated the price.

Oh dear. Seeing this makes me fear for the actual Zelda live action film. Hopefully, it's more like the recent DnD film and less like a fan-made fever dream.

Especially if the storage space of the carts has been increased several fold.

That would definitely cut down on the shelf price though: but the inevitable SD cards will rack up additional costs.

Looking at the OLED which is going on Nintendo's website for €350 in a bundle with Mario Kart I'm guessing the switch 2 will be at the very least that. Or more likely €450 + with some extras on top of the console.

You have to wonder what the production costs were and if they will sell it at a loss. I don't think they have a history of that? But correct me if I'm wrong. Given they have reportedly had 20m units manufactured (in China judging by the leaks) unit costs are probably exceedingly low. So we might be surprised by the price.

Personally I will drop for that no matter the price and I am tempted to buy whatever launch titles there are within reason: I don't care for CoD for example if that comes.

What about everybody else? Is there a limit for you on price? Or specific deals you want - like colours, bundles, games etc that will make or break your decision?

We will see a renaissance in management // rts type games for console if true. Wow do you think Baldur's Gate 3 could be on it too? Or ports of old PC CPRGs? OMG think of the possibilities! I'd totally buy them all again

@MrCarlos46 Nintendo could probably use AI to filter prohibited words too. So I think it's a possibility for this gen.

You know this device will sell like hotcakes with the backwards compatibility and some good launch titles. Especially if it comes out in time for the children's summer holidays! The lucky kids will get it first and the rest, if their parents are fortunate enough to have the money, will get it for Christmas.

Then there will be a lot of adults just dropping for that immediately.

I always remember getting Broken Sword 2 on a Playstation Demo disk but I never got to play it properly until the GBA release. What a game that was! Would love to see them return for Switch and/or its successor.

@Kyloctopus I'd be incredibly upset to see upcoming game leaks plastered everywhere, to be honest. It was like the Pokemon hack a while back: even the places that don't usually report such things had some of it on thumbnails etc. I personally do not want to see any of it if I can avoid it without taking unreasonable steps.

I've lost a lot of faith in Nintendo Life for getting wrapped up in the Switch 2 stuff when usually they do not comment on such things: parroting rumours is, after all, not reporting.

But reading the comments here, I'm sickened. As the nasty sense of entitlement by many on display here is truly depraved. I know we all make mistakes, so some of you ought to take a look in the mirror and think about how you are behaving.

@NicolausCamp I don't care personally. I've never played the original. So I'm quite happy to buy a port. That's what it is. I've also bought ports of other games for various reasons. It'll go on sale, so I'll wait for that given it's not a high priority for me.

Nintendo have been giving the Kongs a lot of love lately - especially in the films they played a prominent role too. So I wonder if they'll follow up with a 3D game for switch 2?

Okay, I'm not going to lie. I'm coming around to the leaks because I'm being filled with hype, hype, hype the more I see them I can't wait for the real announcement! All the shiny new games to come too. I can't wait to see what they are!

@ozwally Yeah, they do look good. But if they come to PC eventually I don't see the point unless one is really desperate to play it now. GTA 6 might pull in a few sales for that reason, but personally, I hate playing FPS on a console. It's much more fun for me to play GTA on PC in first person with no auto aim.

I think if there's going to be ports, you'll probably see a lot come very early. I saw a graphic somewhere of all the third-party developers bringing games to Switch 2 and it was quite a large list.

At least the Switch 2 will have Nintendo games! What does the PS5 have? It's just a bad PC. Astrobot does look good though, not going to lie. Maybe there's some other exclusives?

I'd love to hear that they're going to finally make a AAA pokemon game that will be released in 2030 or so!
