Re: Physical Game Sales Took A Nosedive In The UK Last Year

@smithyo There's perhaps also an element of fear regarding backwards compatibility too for some. I have a large physical collection and I worry it'll become useless going forward whilst people who bought digitally will retain their collections into new generations.

@Olliemar28 I will still drop for that on Day 1 and I'll be happy I have it. I'll forget all about the leaks eventually. But you only get one chance in life and the chance to see the announcement without preconceived notions has been ruined for some of us. It'll definitely leave a sour taste in my mouth personally until something comes along to sweeten it: like a Pokemon game

"Thought about AI-written content for 7 seconds
The passage you’ve shared has a style that could certainly be produced by AI. It feels polished, dreamlike, and thematically cohesive without being tied to any concrete narrative—traits often seen in AI-generated content. Of course, humans can write in this manner as well, especially when aiming for a poetic, whimsical feel. Without direct evidence of its origin, it’s impossible to be certain. However, from experience, the smoothly flowing adjectives, vivid imagery, and the general avoidance of specific, verifiable details do resemble the typical patterns found in AI-written text."

ChatGPT (paid) certainly thinks this is probably generated by AI for those who wonder.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot

@HammerGalladeBro Did you know that the first store bought mount in World of Warcraft (for 15 Euros) made more money than all of Starcraft 2 did for Blizzard? When you realise the insane profitability of these anti-consumer practices, you'll understand why no amount of back pats will stop the snowballing of game company shakedowns.

Re: Mario & Luigi's Future In Doubt As A Potential Sony Acquisition Emerges

Dazman

@Ultimapunch That's why I say it's anti-consumer as the exclusives force consumers to buy a worthless device which nobody would otherwise buy. Without those, manufacturers would actually have to focus on making devices with a USP if they wanted to take business away from the PC: which would be pro-consumer.

As for live service games, don't play them if you don't like them. I certainly don't.

Re: Nintendo's Mysterious Switch Online Playtest Program Is Now Accessible

Dazman

@Anti-Matter Rental services suck. I hope they don't do that, as it disproportionately impacts the poor. I have friends who trade games in all the time because they're poor and they have nothing to show for it. Whereas I have like 80 physical games because I don't need to trade in to buy a new game. It'll be the same with a subscription service. It looks attractive because you can play more for cheaper, but you'll spend a lot of money and have nothing to show for it. That's why I say it disproportionately impacts the poor.

Re: Alarmo Has "Sold Out" At Nintendo's New York Store

Dazman

I'll be buying one for sure.

It looks fun, and I'm a Nintendo simp so obliged by honour to buy it.

I wonder if it has some switch 2 connectivity planned? The dearth of content makes me think it'll be padded out mostly by Switch 2 games in future.

The 100 Euro price point is nothing for a lot of people too, so I'm sure it will sell well enough.
