@smithyo There's perhaps also an element of fear regarding backwards compatibility too for some. I have a large physical collection and I worry it'll become useless going forward whilst people who bought digitally will retain their collections into new generations.

All the video game shops are closing across Europe: so it's harder to get them. I think people still living in the UK are dirt poor too: they keep talking about the 'cost of living crisis'. So going digital probably saves them some money.

@Olliemar28 I will still drop for that on Day 1 and I'll be happy I have it. I'll forget all about the leaks eventually. But you only get one chance in life and the chance to see the announcement without preconceived notions has been ruined for some of us. It'll definitely leave a sour taste in my mouth personally until something comes along to sweeten it: like a Pokemon game

This stuff is totally out of control. This generation has been totally ruined. Why can't people just have patience? I absolutely loathe leaks and leakers, it's the mark of a reprobate to engage in such an illicit activity.

@Dev1024 Me too. I like Nintendo Life because usually they ignore this stuff but even they've gotten involved. But I do understand that at this point it's not even possible to wilfully ignore the leaks because they are plastered everywhere!

It doesn't seem wise for a 'respectable' consultant to leak information. Neither is publicising it.

@NintendoWife People who want a low-powered handheld already have the Switch - which is about 300 Euros. The laptop cost 800 at the time and is now ten years old and is better than the supposed specs of the Switch 2. It's quite laughable, really. I don't know why you're defending it. Of course, it could just be fake leaks.

@Yoshi3 Some people are practical, others are wishful thinkers. I'm the former. Games like this will become more common because they will be far cheaper to produce, or the money saved on expensive artists can be put to better use elsewhere. That's just reality.

I doubt Switch 2 will even be as powerful as competitor handhelds that serve Steam users. We're all only buying it for Nintendo IPs anyway.

@HammerGalladeBro Did you know that the first store bought mount in World of Warcraft (for 15 Euros) made more money than all of Starcraft 2 did for Blizzard? When you realise the insane profitability of these anti-consumer practices, you'll understand why no amount of back pats will stop the snowballing of game company shakedowns.

Looks unique, I like it. But the graphics strike me as something that will look like hot garbage on the Switch. Definitely will be buying it on PC.

I picked it up in the Black Friday sales, it's a cute little game. I'd really wanted it for a while but put off because I already have a backlog. But I took the time to play it a bit and it's a little too handholding at first but once it starts to open up it becomes a lot more fun. Can't go wrong with a 3d Platformer if you're into the genre really.

How is a Playstation portable going to compete with a Switch 2? People are only buying the latter for the Nintendo exclusives, whereas the former will just be a trash version of the Steam Deck.

@Ultimapunch That's why I say it's anti-consumer as the exclusives force consumers to buy a worthless device which nobody would otherwise buy. Without those, manufacturers would actually have to focus on making devices with a USP if they wanted to take business away from the PC: which would be pro-consumer.

As for live service games, don't play them if you don't like them. I certainly don't.

@MrPeanutbutterz Yeah, pretty much. If there weren't exclusives only poor people would choose it over something like the Steam Deck and not through choice.

@eltomo I agree, Xbox and Playstation have zero raison detre. They're just sub-par PCs which lure people in with anti-consumer exclusives. At least the handholds have a USP.

The console market is so anti-consumer with it's "exclusives'. There's honestly no reason to buy consoles without that, unless you want something on the go like a Switch or Steam Deck - which are a little more mobile than laptops.

Hurray, now my enormous physical collection will not go to immediate waste. I'm going full digital for switch 2 though — the space constraint is getting real.

@RupeeClock Thanks for sharing, and yeah, it makes total sense that the remake of game on WiiU designed for teenage boys is (potentially) going to be popular with twenty to thirty years olds - they've aged a bit since playing the original.

@Anti-Matter Rental services suck. I hope they don't do that, as it disproportionately impacts the poor. I have friends who trade games in all the time because they're poor and they have nothing to show for it. Whereas I have like 80 physical games because I don't need to trade in to buy a new game. It'll be the same with a subscription service. It looks attractive because you can play more for cheaper, but you'll spend a lot of money and have nothing to show for it. That's why I say it disproportionately impacts the poor.

@RudyC3 If it requires a 2gig download for voice chat, then it's bloated spyware. Given the Switch is not a PC, I'm going to guess it's not voice chat containing bloated spyware (like Skype).

The worst thing about the leaks is that if you find something new out, you're literally profiting from the proceeds of crime. A lot of despicable outlets are making people an accessory to crime by reporting on specifics.

What I really want to see is Phantasy Star Online episodes 1 + 2 for GC NSO. I would even pay a separate sub for PSO Online

Had my friend send me the deluxe version from the USA and I couldn't have been more happy. The pins, the posters, oh my God, it was just amazing. I wondered if it would be worth something one day? But who could actually sell it!?

@EVIL-C I got this recently on GC for the nostalgia and it hasn't aged as well as I remember. It could definitely do with an update (remaster // remake). I remember at the time the graphics looked almost like the film, oh how time changes things

I wonder if it has some switch 2 connectivity planned? The dearth of content makes me think it'll be padded out mostly by Switch 2 games in future.

The 100 Euro price point is nothing for a lot of people too, so I'm sure it will sell well enough.

@FineLerv Yeah. I get why they have it for a "multiplayer mode" but I really miss the single player modes where you needed to win cups to unlock new courses etc Without these there's really little incentive for me to play without friends.

I hope there's stuff to do. A lot of Nintendo multiplayer games are so bad these days in terms of content because everything is unlocked. What's the point of playing outside of a party gimmick?
