I love AI personally. Use it every day at work: it has transformed my job as a software engineer, it's like having 1000 junior coders at your finger tips (better even). I'm just waiting for AI companions in games, it'll be great when NPCs can actually interact and do things that make sense! This will be a small step in that direction.
I'm a sucker for these type of games: they're so good to play when friends visit. Got TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Power Rangers Rita's Rewind on Switch already, would recommend! Feel free to throw some others my way if I've missed one, would appreciate it
@Tibob I don't think the time it was made matters? People still pay to see the Mona Lisa for example and that was painted in 1503.
It's already incredibly cheap too: 20 bucks//euros or 16.99 sterling. This is like 2 hours on minimum wage in Europe or 3 in the US. Literally anybody can afford it.
Edit: I could understand if they were selling it for 50 or above but 20, I mean common!
@Tibob The game had to be programmed originally too. But also you're paying for the product, not the time and effort it took to make it. Like when you pay an artist to design a logo - it doesn't matter how much time and effort they put into it because you're paying for the logo.
@Pillowpants Me too. Me too. I've been disappointed a lot of times with recent showcases. Although, I was genuinely excited for S/V - which was a while ago now!
@Pillowpants You do have to wonder though that if significant time is dedicated to boring stuff then why was FRLG announced already and why is Pokopia getting a treehouse today? Either Nintendo ruined all the good announcements or they're freeing up space for something better!
The fact FRLG was announced AND there's the Pokopia treehouse today makes me think there's some big news for Friday! I'm guessing they will show this battle game in more depth? The usual stuff too and then!? Who knows
@SillyG Overpriced? It's 20 Euros. It's literally pocket change in exchange for a beloved game which took a lot of manpower to create. Nobody is forcing you to buy it though.
@JayJ I'm buying both. You'll benefit from being able to catch all of the available Pokémon via trading between the two. And you get both games for the price of a single cheap console game, it's a no-brainer.
I for one hope they do not announce Gen 10: hear me out. They've already broken the pattern with the mainline game timings - so it's likely they're taking the time to polish it. But it's only a year or so late. Personally, I'd rather have a seven year wait and get a BOTW then have a SV every three years.
Let's be realistic, Nintendo were always going to charge for this. Don't like it? Then don't buy them - it's that simple. I already own them on GBA and have all the stuff necessary to transfer to Switch but I'll still buy them. Indeed, the price is trivial. Even a min-wager can work like 2 hours and afford it.
@KevinP People were playing digital games before they were being sold - remember drive//disk emulation and no CD patches etc? I've still got games from back in that era but modern computers can't play them, and modern disc readers don't read them! The only way you're getting on it is via mods or hardware//OS emulation.
@ShadLink A single cherry picked bug is not good evidence of something being janky i.e. "of extremely poor or unreliable quality". Indeed, every bit of software in existence has bugs bar some incredibly simple programs. It is also without dispute that the original games were of a decent enough quality relative to those of the time. It is only over the last few generations that standards have begun to slip noticeably, and in particular, performance issues began to spring up most around the shift to 3D seen from Sun and Moon (see the double battles). Post-Sw/Sh the quality of the games relative to not only their past entries but to their peers in the game space has taken a complete nosedive.
Pokemon are going big for the 30th, I wonder what they have planned for Pokemon day? There will surely be some big announcements, like a new low quality mainline game? I can't wait.
Facetiousness aside: a new pixel art game announcement would be the best announcement for this month. No more janky 3D games please.
I still play my Switch a lot to be fair. I thought it'd be dead after the Switch 2 but it's not. It feels like a better quality console than the Switch 2 as well, or is that just me?
Judging by the sales of Switch 2 and its games I think the GKC cry-babies are a very loud minority.
I for one don't care, will definitely pre-order at some point. Probably just a few days before so it is delivered on time - the pre-order "bonuses" are usually not much of an incentive.
I'm so hyped for this. The price is very good too! I only found out about it the other day, but I'll be pre-ordering when they open!! Been trying to find the SNES games but they're never in the retro stores when I check and I'm loathe to buy online.
@roy130390 It's soooooo good. I think you won't regret it. The first time I played it, it took me a while to get into it. The second time I played it, I got REALLY into it. It's got a smashing mix of exploring, fighting, digging, crafting and building!
I always go to Gamestop when I visit the US and it's total garbage. There's hardly many games there, the ones they do have are expensive and the shops are usually a complete mess with low quality toys everywhere. How are they even making money?
@garfreek I bought both of them. I prefer the pixel art style of DPP, but the ones on switch are good: they're just missing the platinum content! But the new features like having your Pokémon follow you and the enhanced underground are really neat. I would recommend buying them depending on your financial situation - if you think "it's only 40 quid" then just buy them otherwise I'd think about it in terms of priorities.
Edit: if you had to choose between BDSP and Legends Z-A I'd definitely skip Legends for example
I'm just so happy and grateful that I was born at a time where I could experience Pokémon. This year is going to be the best! I'm hoping for Black and White remakes, a Gen 10 announcement, Classic re-releases, Pokopia. I want it all baby, but anything will do
Game key cards are great because they help out people on lower incomes via the ability to trade them in. So I for one support them. Personally though, would never trade in but hey.
@nhSnork Sorry what I mean is like a controller with a screen! I'd love it if you could connect your Switch screen to a game running on Switch 2 and use it as like a map or something.
It's a great system to be fair. Really feels like Switch-Pro in a good way: breathes a lot of life into old games. I'd still take my Switch to travel with though: it's cheaper and smaller.
I hope they can turn the OG Switch into a controller or something though to retain its usefulness over the medium-term.
If there's one thing you can guarantee about Nintendo it's that they won't sell you the products you want. They've probably just patented this so they can try to use it to sue.
It's a shame, given it's abundantly clear by this point that releasing new consoles is a dud: you could release a new DS game and there'd be a sizable market ready to go.
All hackers are really telling you is that they're unable to control themselves, have zero patience and no moral compass. It's not a good look.
It's the same for the people spreading it.
It's the worst when these things happen, then you go on X and it's the first thing you see. Just who wants that shoved in their face? It's a good reason to quit social media and stop reading certain outlets (or their comment sections).
