Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Rayman (GBC)

Daniel36

Ooooh first vote! That's a first.

I dislike them all, but I dislike the US one the least. Green looks nicer than red as a background to the quite reddish character. Japan's is just bland. At least in the other ones he crashes through something, even if non-descript.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Receives New Update On Switch And Switch 2

Daniel36

@EarthboundBenjy @Craigsouthern I'd day sharper visuals don't necessarily mean better visuals. I actually prefer a slightly washed out look, though I haven't compared them side by side.

If you already played OT1 and 2, then the Switch version of OT0 will be fine too.

There's a lot less max items you can place in your town though, which I don't know yet if that will be a dealbreaker... depends on how much you want to play house.

I only have a Switch 1, so I bought that one, and so far I haven't hit max items yet by far.

Also, the Switch 1 boxart doesn't feature a horrid red border, and the game cart actually holds the game. So there's that.

Hope that helps.

Re: Random: Disney's Terrible DS Game 'Cory In The House' Is Now Selling For Hundreds Of Dollars On eBay

Daniel36

@HammerKirby Well, in that case...

Pure insanity.

Spending well over a 100 bucks for a meme.

@Thomystic I was going to say the same thing but struggled to find the words. Then I scrolled back and saw your comment. Well put, I agree.

@sportymariosonicmix I am too lazy to read the reviw, but judging by your comment, I guess the reviewer saw two similarities between Cory and Kenan and Kel, and that's both being a tv show with a black lead. And games based on shows historically being sub-par, he probably assumed the games were alike.

I'd doubt he even played the game for more than ten minutes.

Re: Zelda's Next Lego Set Is Based On Ocarina Of Time's Final Battle, Out March

Daniel36

I have to say it... Why does Lego insist on making things so bland and unappealing?

Animal Crossing were tiny house with the backside non-existent. Far from enough to recreate a cool little island vignette with.
Mario was... well... a world map node thing...
I liked some of the Minecraft sets, at least those felt like you could create a cool litte world with, though the more recent ones are all awful.
I guess the Deku Tree was alright, but so many sets are just incredibly lacklustre.

Maybe it's just me.

Re: Hazelight Founder Josef Fares On EA: "Let's Be Honest, There's Not A Publisher In The World That Hasn't F****d Up"

Daniel36

@GammaPhonic @nessisonett - Maybe a better analogy would have been "The bully was nice to me, so...", but we can't deny that sentiment.

This studio was lucky amongst a ton of less lucky ones. EA is a horrid company for many reasons though. I think we can agree on that. Doesn't mean there aren't any good folks there doing their darnest to create fun products for us, but the top dogs are only in it for the dough.

@Not_Soos You can pay me in exposure. Haha, just kidding... I also dislike video editing. I am alright at it, made a few pretty good looking music videos, if I do say so myself, but all for the love of the craft.

Also thought about starting a YouTube channel but the hassle wasn't worth it to me.

I hope the video game music thing pans out, but I am not holding my breath. We shall see. Maybe it's time to start those house tracks now.

Good luck on your endeavours!

Re: Site News: Please Welcome Mai, The Newest Member Of Our YouTube Team

Daniel36

@Not_Soos I feel compelled to comment on your last reply.

You might already be doing this, but just do stuff for the fun of it. That is how you hone your craft. Me? I want to produce house music. I do not feel good enough to produce it, so I don't do it much yet, but in the meantime I am making hip hop beats that are slightly further removed from my passion, making it easier for me to finish.

I also enjoy editing, so I edit videos for an artist. I also enjoy writing and creating lay-outs, so I helped in creating a board game for a friend. He has a friend working on a videogame, so I might start producing music for that. All of that stuff I do for fun, but also simply to train, and the proof is in the pudding, it opens up venues, as I might be able to contribute to a videogame sometime soon, and not even because of something closely adjacent. The board game is WWII.

Also, don't feel bad. They had a 100 applicants, they say, so you pretty much had a 1% chance. And I don't know about divisive, I don't recall ever reading anything grating from your side. Or maybe I just agree with you, that's possible too.

Re: Editorial: Happy New Year From Nintendo Life

Daniel36

@darkswabber You forgot the best one, Time Extension!

Happy New Year from me too.

This year I will play Octopath Traveler 0 to completikn and trynto wrestle myself away from Kairosoft games. Not gonna happen.

I spent last night playing N64 games with my kids on our brand new online sub.

I must say, as a young 'un, I hated the N64 after the SNES. I thought the graphics were butt ugly compared to the sweet pixel art I had grown to love, and PS1 had way better games.

But I kind of chose to ignore how much I loved F-Zero, Wave Race, 1080, and that's just the Nintendo games. In hindsight, it has some absolute treasures. And for the record, all three of those are better than the GC iterations, if you ask me.

So I completely decimated my kids on F-Zero and Star Fox last night, among others. Good times. Goldeneye's control scheme, though... yuch.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Receives A Small Update On Switch And Switch 2

Daniel36

It would be awesome if somewhere down the line the cap on building stuff is upped a little, but I won't complain. I will just keep my tiny village tiny. Which is fine. Looking forward to playing it. Will be the first game I am going to be playing a lot of since ages, Vampire Survivors notwithstanding.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mega Man 6

Daniel36

Japan has had some stinkers too, but this isn't one of them. The US one is lovely too, and on the one hand I really appreciate the different outfit, but on the other hand... at the end, a small win for Japan for me.

Re: Opinion: Resident Evil Requiem Needs To Solve The Series' Villain Problem

Daniel36

As much as I love RE4, especially from a gameplay standpoint, the series pretty much already jumped the shark, or giant fish monster in RE4's case, in their storyline right there.

After that, they just continuously seemed to double down on the sillyness. 7 felt like it got back to a more gritty, realistic vibe, but then Village turned up the notch to a 1000.

I am kind of done with it. It used to be more serious, bar a select few boss monsters.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Bionic Commando (NES)

Daniel36

@JumpingJackson This one hundred percent boils down to nostalgia. Ill-fitting artwork and this era, simply warm fuzzy feelings for me. Perhaps you hrew up with different tastes and influences, and maybe in a different era.

Re: 15 Years In The Making, Caves Of Qud Is Finally Coming To Nintendo Switch

Daniel36

I've only played this game for a little bit, but it is SO GOOD!!! - lol noticed this is an updated article, already said as much.

@Spider-Kev Don't judge a book by its cover. And if you happen to like reading books, imagine talking smack about the graphics of a book.

This should not be viewed as a game in the more widely known sense of the word. View it more as a book with rudimentary graphics, and you will be in for a huge treat.
