I dislike them all, but I dislike the US one the least. Green looks nicer than red as a background to the quite reddish character. Japan's is just bland. At least in the other ones he crashes through something, even if non-descript.
Talk about an eclective mix of titles to start with.
My autism always burns bright when I see "collections" start with a part 2 and not release part 1 of anything, such as here starting with Ninja Gaiden 2. It hurts me and I am not even the target audience, haha.
@Craigsouthern If you read my post, you would see that I present those as additional thoughts, not the main one. I also didn't say the S1 version is better, I simply compared several things.
@EarthboundBenjy @Craigsouthern I'd day sharper visuals don't necessarily mean better visuals. I actually prefer a slightly washed out look, though I haven't compared them side by side.
If you already played OT1 and 2, then the Switch version of OT0 will be fine too.
There's a lot less max items you can place in your town though, which I don't know yet if that will be a dealbreaker... depends on how much you want to play house.
I only have a Switch 1, so I bought that one, and so far I haven't hit max items yet by far.
Also, the Switch 1 boxart doesn't feature a horrid red border, and the game cart actually holds the game. So there's that.
Seeing as the red makes me nauseous even on static screenshots, this is a welcome addition.
Not that I will be playing it, but nonetheless... I can't be the only one who gets that, so anyone who would like to play it and this makes it easier, welcome addition!
@Thomystic I was going to say the same thing but struggled to find the words. Then I scrolled back and saw your comment. Well put, I agree.
@sportymariosonicmix I am too lazy to read the reviw, but judging by your comment, I guess the reviewer saw two similarities between Cory and Kenan and Kel, and that's both being a tv show with a black lead. And games based on shows historically being sub-par, he probably assumed the games were alike.
I'd doubt he even played the game for more than ten minutes.
I have to say it... Why does Lego insist on making things so bland and unappealing?
Animal Crossing were tiny house with the backside non-existent. Far from enough to recreate a cool little island vignette with. Mario was... well... a world map node thing... I liked some of the Minecraft sets, at least those felt like you could create a cool litte world with, though the more recent ones are all awful. I guess the Deku Tree was alright, but so many sets are just incredibly lacklustre.
@GammaPhonic @nessisonett - Maybe a better analogy would have been "The bully was nice to me, so...", but we can't deny that sentiment.
This studio was lucky amongst a ton of less lucky ones. EA is a horrid company for many reasons though. I think we can agree on that. Doesn't mean there aren't any good folks there doing their darnest to create fun products for us, but the top dogs are only in it for the dough.
@Not_Soos You can pay me in exposure. Haha, just kidding... I also dislike video editing. I am alright at it, made a few pretty good looking music videos, if I do say so myself, but all for the love of the craft.
Also thought about starting a YouTube channel but the hassle wasn't worth it to me.
I hope the video game music thing pans out, but I am not holding my breath. We shall see. Maybe it's time to start those house tracks now.
@Not_Soos I feel compelled to comment on your last reply.
You might already be doing this, but just do stuff for the fun of it. That is how you hone your craft. Me? I want to produce house music. I do not feel good enough to produce it, so I don't do it much yet, but in the meantime I am making hip hop beats that are slightly further removed from my passion, making it easier for me to finish.
I also enjoy editing, so I edit videos for an artist. I also enjoy writing and creating lay-outs, so I helped in creating a board game for a friend. He has a friend working on a videogame, so I might start producing music for that. All of that stuff I do for fun, but also simply to train, and the proof is in the pudding, it opens up venues, as I might be able to contribute to a videogame sometime soon, and not even because of something closely adjacent. The board game is WWII.
Also, don't feel bad. They had a 100 applicants, they say, so you pretty much had a 1% chance. And I don't know about divisive, I don't recall ever reading anything grating from your side. Or maybe I just agree with you, that's possible too.
@MTMike87 Insane decision. They even took the time to redub them, and then hide them.
I actually already accepted their ommission. I have the game but haven't had the time to play yet. Now it's an even better package. And also pretty insane that it was already discounted when I bought it.
Call me a grognard (cuz' I am), but while I should be happy that some things that might need fixing might be fixed, it kind of annoys me that they could add content. It just always feels like you are holding an incomplete product when the cartridge doesn't hold the final version.
@dartmonkey Sorry bud, but I have to agree with @Pillowpants, before this I never heard of that abbreviation either... so... I guess our mileages vary?
@darkswabber You forgot the best one, Time Extension!
Happy New Year from me too.
This year I will play Octopath Traveler 0 to completikn and trynto wrestle myself away from Kairosoft games. Not gonna happen.
I spent last night playing N64 games with my kids on our brand new online sub.
I must say, as a young 'un, I hated the N64 after the SNES. I thought the graphics were butt ugly compared to the sweet pixel art I had grown to love, and PS1 had way better games.
But I kind of chose to ignore how much I loved F-Zero, Wave Race, 1080, and that's just the Nintendo games. In hindsight, it has some absolute treasures. And for the record, all three of those are better than the GC iterations, if you ask me.
So I completely decimated my kids on F-Zero and Star Fox last night, among others. Good times. Goldeneye's control scheme, though... yuch.
Loved OT1, though I didn't see the final ending, really liked OT2 up to a point, because I didn't like the characters as much as the first, but I love town building so can't wait to start playing 0.
It would be awesome if somewhere down the line the cap on building stuff is upped a little, but I won't complain. I will just keep my tiny village tiny. Which is fine. Looking forward to playing it. Will be the first game I am going to be playing a lot of since ages, Vampire Survivors notwithstanding.
Japan has had some stinkers too, but this isn't one of them. The US one is lovely too, and on the one hand I really appreciate the different outfit, but on the other hand... at the end, a small win for Japan for me.
As much as I love RE4, especially from a gameplay standpoint, the series pretty much already jumped the shark, or giant fish monster in RE4's case, in their storyline right there.
After that, they just continuously seemed to double down on the sillyness. 7 felt like it got back to a more gritty, realistic vibe, but then Village turned up the notch to a 1000.
I am kind of done with it. It used to be more serious, bar a select few boss monsters.
@Froid12 Yeah, I know. I am wondering how much of a bummer it will be for me, or if it is the difference between a village (which I'd prefer anyways, honestly) and a town, or if the 250 cap is very limiting.
I kinda want the Switch 1 version, but I don't know how much of a bummer the smaller town size will be.
On the other hand, I like small towns better than large cities anyways... But I know the difference is pretty huge between the Switch 1, 2 and PS5 versions.
@JumpingJackson This one hundred percent boils down to nostalgia. Ill-fitting artwork and this era, simply warm fuzzy feelings for me. Perhaps you hrew up with different tastes and influences, and maybe in a different era.
I've only played this game for a little bit, but it is SO GOOD!!! - lol noticed this is an updated article, already said as much.
@Spider-Kev Don't judge a book by its cover. And if you happen to like reading books, imagine talking smack about the graphics of a book.
This should not be viewed as a game in the more widely known sense of the word. View it more as a book with rudimentary graphics, and you will be in for a huge treat.

@MeloMan There is no James Bond Jr. - James Bond is a Time Lord.
I am kidding, but what a fun theory.
Re: Video: 007 First Light Official Story Trailer Revealed
His face sort of... feels like it was made by AI. I know it's not the case, but it's.... a little bit non-descript?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Rayman (GBC)
Ooooh first vote! That's a first.
I dislike them all, but I dislike the US one the least. Green looks nicer than red as a background to the quite reddish character. Japan's is just bland. At least in the other ones he crashes through something, even if non-descript.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Super Bomberman 2 (SNES)
The main guy on the Western version looks wrong. His eyes aren't right. Or maybe his head is too stretched. But it looks wrong.
Re: Square Enix Is Making Changes To Its New HD-2D Game Based On Demo Feedback
Love the look, but the gameplay won't be my cup of tea.

I dislike both. I dislike the Western one less.

Re: Two Cancelled Virtual Boy Games Coming To NSO In 2026, Including F-Zero Spin-Off
Man, even those short clips gave me motion sickness. I can't imagine how I would feel if I actually played a real Virtual Boy.
But I applaud the release of unreleased games!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (DS)
The America one would have been okay, if not for the horrendously tacked on A2, which looks like Lesson 01 - Photoshop for Beginners.

Pure insanity.

Being sold for, or being offered for?
There is a very distinct difference.
Re: Pokémon Lego Sets Are Already Being Sold On eBay For Stupid Money
Pfffttt... Nintendo has already been partnering with a B brand of bricks, if not several, for years. Buy those instead.

Welcome Mai, hope you will have a wonderful time on the team, but I am going to take an educated guess and say that won't be much of an issue.

That was like the one thi g I was a little bummed about. Not terribly bummed, but... bummed.
That is something. Well, pretty awesome that it IS in there, but why not give the option to add or disable them in-game? Strange decision.

Tonal continuity. Now there is a term I needed to to express my feelings towards some other series, mostly to describe how the vibe is destroyed...
Thanks for that!
