Re: Video: Konami Uploads Suikoden Opening Trailer Ahead Of I & II HD Remaster Release

Daniel36

@MrGawain oh, personally I am happy with the redrawing. The original had a strange style, Suikoden 2 was prettier, and the portraits in the original are now more in line with the rest of the series.

That said, I would have liked them to be a tad more pixelated. I do agree with you that the clean look makes it reminiscent of Flash games, though the art itself is really nice.

This is the most important game in my life, so I am absolutely ecstatic that I get to revisit it once again, in HD form this time.

I see they even upgraded the objectively bad CGI elements in the intro, but kept the... badness. Haha. The only part of this game that wasn't good. Well... and the US boxart.

It would've been nice if they had added an animé intro like in Suikoden 3 and the Suikogaiden games, but I am nitpicking now.

I cannot wait.

I see the release date in Japan as 3.6 - a cool coincidence with my online handle.

Re: New Minecraft Movie Trailer Digs Into Steve's Backstory

@PinballBuzzbro Excuse me?

Captain Planet was our hero!!
He was gonna take pollution down to zero!
He was gonna help us put asunder
Bad guys who like to loot and plunder

But now we know why he didn't succeed. It's people like you, who hated his message!!

I am kidding, of course.

Re: New Minecraft Movie Trailer Digs Into Steve's Backstory

Daniel36

@GravyThief When the game launched, it was a lot easier to get into. These days, just the starting screen alone is a giant slog to get through. Don't get me started on the marketplace.

And with all the new elements implemented, the game never got better for it. In fact, I would say the game became worse with every update. At the very least it became less beginner friendly. The only meaningful change in my book, better villages and villlagers, will never happen.

So I can totally understand you not liking it.

Re: After Almost 30 Years, Japan Finally Has A New Best-Selling Pokémon Game

Daniel36

I pine for the days of simpler Pokemon. Not as much the game mechanics per sé, just that the designs and general vibe just got more and more over the top.

Sure, the OG had some silly and questionable creature designs, but things just got crazier and crazier and I kinda miss the smaller vibes...

Or I just got old. That may have something to do with it too.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Double Dragon (NES)

Daniel36

Western one is undeniably iconic, but not very good. The Japanese one isn't amazing, but does feel like it fits the game well. It gives me that feeling I got from looking at VHS tapes of anime movies I was too young or at least too prudish to watch. I kinda dig it.

And count me in on the party that never saw this before.

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Schedule For Its Upcoming Movies

Daniel36

I recently saw an AI generated trailer for a Zelda movie in 80s style. Think Neverending Story / Dark Crystal.

Honestly, that's what I want to see. Never happening, obviously. But anyways, if you happen to have a spare moment of boredom, look it up. It's AI, so temper expectations, but it's still pretty cool.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X Fans Are Once Again Discussing The Game's 'Censorship'

Daniel36

So people are weirded out about folks being upset they can't sexualize a minor in the Western esition, but aren't raising questions about the inclusion in the first place?

And I've seen a comment about Japan being different about certain outfits being sexual or not. Like, really?!? Sure...

I wasn't going to buy the game anyways, but now I am certainly not getting it. And Japanese devs need to start doing some introspection anyways, this isn't the only game with questionable content.

Re: Nintendo Museum Overseas Visitors Reportedly Breaking 'No Photos' Rule

Daniel36

@NinChocolate Well, those rules are less basic than "no photos and no touching", and some of those rules are still slightly open to interpretation.

I've had a comment removed. Just one. I didn't agree with the reason, but in the end I had to respect the decision. It was about a term that in my country wasn't considered rude but apparently was in others. I also made sure I didn't do it again.

Because, you know. I was told not to.

I am going to guess it is EXTREMELY clear here what the rules are. If I were to enter, I wouldn't break them. It was conscious decisions by the offenders here.

In the same vein, my manners as a tourist might still be considered rude by the Japanese people, so I would not be intentionally rude, but would change my manners as soon as it were pointed out to me.

Re: Random: Reddit Is Alight With Reports Of 'Pure Evil' Mario Party Jamboree Player

Daniel36

@timp29 Good one!

As said, pure gold name, and this just fills me with glee. That there is a person out there who is just playing (a lot it seems) to make everyone as miserable as possible, it truly is the perfect mind-set for this game and I can only applaud this type of trolling.

Also, pretty daring of Nintendo Life to report on this person, with a name like that.
