To anyone who's already played it, does it contain foul language? I am interested but if it's like GTA in the script department, I'm not going to get it.
Well... since all the Switch 1 cases are comparably a million times better than that ugly red border on top, it's really a battle between MKW and DKB. My choice is MKW, but DKB is nice too.
@aardvaarkchi Agreed. Baffling that they still keep it. The EU one looks like he needs to go to the toilet real bad and tries to hold it in. US one is amazing!
@Wisestfool There is a fast food item in my country, which right before the change to the Euro cost about 50 eurocent for two at one particular place. They were more expensive before that, most places had them for 50, but that was the lowest. So 25 eurocent per item. They now cost 2,50. Some sell them for 3,00.
So sure, the Switch 2 and their games are more expensive... but it's to be expected. And let's all be honest too. Our backlogs are way more expensive.
@emj2010 Man, I always k ew Denkark was expensive compared to the Netherlands, but that is a huge difference. 510 for Mario Kart bundle here. 470 for thee regular one.
@tdub154420 They should add all of the racers from that game in here as well.
If you are going to call it Mario Kart World, you should add all the world in there. Now, maybe not make it the kart version of Smash Bros, I kinda disliked Link being in MK8, but DK is part of the Mario World, so by extension so are Diddy's racers.
I guess people are still glued to the Direct, because so few comments, haha.
Well, I look forward to it. Wondering about the open world, though... racing is fun when it is frantic. If we're all taking different routes you might as well drive alone.
It sounds like a given, but then again, I wouldn't hold my hopes up for any particular game.
Let's be honest here. Nintendo could've thrown a huge wad of cash towards everyone and just dump every single NES and SNES game ever released on NSO within a few months. Instead we get these IV drips with such random titles that really don't do too much for anyone.
Then again, each and every publisher could've just picked up their own catalogue and release it as well. You'd think they'd care a bit more about their legacy, but everyone is just min-maxing their profits...
@Durians Thanks for the replies. I don't think I will go for it though. I simply lack the time and mental room to dive into a game such as this, masterpiece or not.
And like I said, I never really liked the whole aesthetic. I remember feeling absolutely nothing for the characters. They didn't strike me as characters I wanted to know more about. So... I guess it's just not for me.
@Durians I have no nostalgic feelings towards it, and I remember disliking the art style when it released, so chances are high I will end up not getting too hooked on it. But I could see myself giving a remaster with some QoL improvements a go if the price is right...
That was an incredibly well thought out showcase of the game. Poking a little fun while definitely respecting another IP, accurately showing the similarities but even moreso the differences.
Yes, this was an effective marketing strategy. I might actually be a little interested in it now, while I wasn't before.
Never played the original so I am interested. My guess will be a remake with full 3D environments, but still cute artstyle, so no FF7 style total overhaul remake.
While I agree the second game offered many improvements, I actually like the first more. I felt the characters were nicer. I didn't feel particularly strong about quite a few of the cast of the second myself.
So don't discount the first game either, any newcomers!
My goodness, there is a confronting statement if there ever was one. I remember oogling over the first gameplay trailer, which ended up not being the gameplay in even the slightest...
And now, three seconds later, we are talking about "back in the day". I had to look it up. The trailer I saw was from 2013.
@kmtrain83 LOL could be. My daughter played it a lot after she got it for her birthday, and she picjs it up on and off. Before that my oldest played the demo a lot. Especially my daughter really likes it.
I don't think I could habdle another life sim after Animal Crossing. I soent too much time on that.
Some cool stuff for sure!! I used to own Saga Frontier 2. No idea where that game went. I remember liking it but getting stuck really early on and not continuing. Will definitely get the remaster.
My kids might like Tomodachi. They played the DS one a lot!
I feel confident enough to admit I have been pronouncing it wrong and would also like to put it on record that I have no intention whatsoever on rectifying my mistakes.
Now, when it comes to @-wc- , your little English lesson does put me, as a teacher of English as a second language, to shame a little, because you use such pretty words as vernacular and colloquialism, and my tired brain feels embarrassed to admit I had to look it up...
Well, I doubt I will forget again, so I can add it to my lexicon for good now.
Still think they should've gone with Super Switch.
I know, I know, you can't really shorten it like how we said Ness and Sness, and the acronym is a little unlucky, but the legacy of going from regular to super was just too good to pass up.
And this is why people shouldn't be ticked off or surprised that one sometimes need to take some liberties in localizations. Japanese isn't really known for its matter of factly way of speaking.
@Suikoden_1986 On the one hand I am hoping for a new sequel. On the other hand, that new mobile phone game (Star Trail?) doesn't look like it will capture the Suikoden magic, and the DS and PSP games were... well, they weren't Suikoden games, that's for sure...
Not saying that mobile game will be bad, and I am sure the devs have poursd their heart and soul in it... but from what I have seen so far, it seems more like an Eiyuden game than Suikoden, and that one failed to capture the magic as well...
I am scared a "true" sequel will miss the mark as well...
@Suikoden_1986 Suikoden is my absolute fave series. I love it to death. But FFVI introduced me to JRPGs and the impact it had was just more monumental than Suikoden was. As a series though, Suikoden all the way!!
I am not going to rank them, because they are vastly different games with different emotional value, but as a standalone release, I'd have to say FFVI is my number 1. Chrono Trigger stands at a joint number 2 spot with... well, all the Suikodens.
@Rhaoulos Back then, JRPGs just weren't (given the chance to be) popular in Europe. Heck, we didn't even get animé on TV. I think only France and Spain did. The rest of us were left with G.I Joe and Captain Planet on tv, and Super Soccer and Super Tennis on console, pretty much.
Final Fantasy VI had the biggest impact on me, but Chrono Trigger is a very close second. Both of them come with VERY fond memories of the import store I bought them from.
The best thing Square Enix can do is give us an HD-2D remake with the option of switchibg to original graphics. I'd support a full remake such as the FF7 one too. Dragonball Z and Dragon Quest have proven time and again that full 3D can look amazing.
Either way, I would love it.
@Mariotag You have to see it in the context of the time period. Gaming, and especially JRPG gaming, wasn't NEARLY as popular as it is today. So these lifetime sales are nothing to scoff at.
It is, of course, a very classical turn based RPG, so that should be taken into account, but it has a few fun sub-systems and sub-quests and such. Also, once the story goes, it goes! At least, I think so!
If anything, as you may be aware you can find up to 108 characters and finding them all triggers some things, but don't feel pressured to find them all the first time around. The games are short enough to do a chill playthrough first and a 100% run next.
@wollywoo it picks up after about an hour and a half, I guess, and Suikoden II is MILES better if you finish I first, as there are quite a few returning characters.
@JohnnyMind I am not going to advise you to try it, as I have been following your comments for a while and there are currently 53636 games you got but haven't had time to play yet and another 373627363736 that you are interested in trying at one point, and I don't want to be responsible for giving you the straw that breaks your back.
I am teasing you, obviously. I think Various Daylife can be played in short bursts, much like Denpa Men, but it can easily become a time sink. It's very much a sim first, RPG second, so it's not for everyone. But I enjoy it.
@JohnnyMind Wow, you still play New Denpa Men. Respect!! I kind of lost interest after too much FOMO.
Me? I bought Various Daylife on sale and have been enjoyibg it greatly. It's definitely not for everyone, but I personally like these low stakes slice of life sim RPGs.
So I finally bought it when it was on sale and I had a gift card. Yes, I know this review is ages old.
6/10 is right, but these days I am often more in the mood for 6/10 games. I also love Kairosoft games, so take that into consideration.
I love this game for what it is. It greatly reminds me of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - My Life as a King. It's more slice of life.
Reading about the action instead of performing it, if you view it more as reading a book, where you have to fill in a lot of blanks yourself as well... then you might understand the appeal a bit more.
Also, by not having to travel a (usually pretty empty) world to reach some ultimate demi-god final boss, the world starts to feel larger. At least for me. Because you are confined to just one place, it just shifts the perspective. I personally love these more "low stakes" RPGs.
So, for anyone reading this review and the comments; my two cents, which seems to be a very different currency to the comments above me. It's more a life sim than an RPG, but there are certainly people who enjoy this.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal
A lot of anger and "Now I will buy less games" when you guys probably already have a backlog that could cost a year of continuous gaming to clear.
Luxury problems.

Re: Video: Street Fighter 6 Side-By-Side Comparison (Switch 2 & PlayStation 5)
Most I am seeing is more going on in the background in the PS5 version, but the Switch background being sharper.
As for coloration, on the Chun Li comparison, I actually prefer the PS4 one. Looks more natural.
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
@neogyo I am pretty sure it is cheaper than the 1 version. Could be a smart ploy, all other games are twice as expensive.

That's not too shabby actually. Gives me more incentive to buy in.
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Those Kairosoft games are going to look SO INSANELY GOOD!!!!
I sometimes feel I've hardly scratched the surface of games on this generation... I hardly have time to get invested in games these days...
Re: Mario Kart World's Character Select Screen Teases Absolutely Huge Roster
Now if all of them raced all at the same time, that would be even more mental!! But I am happy with the 24 that you have to race now.
Not thrilled about the same character, different outfit approach though. That doesn't make sense, but that is nitpicking a bit.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Artist Shares His Thoughts On Kong's New Design
@TenEighty Agreed! It feels more like a Mario Odyssey than a Donkey Kong. I would've preferred a DKC-esque world myself.
But I am not really the target audience so no skin off my back.
Re: Yep, Metroid Prime 4's Box Art For Switch 2 Is... Corrupted
@Olliemar28 Right? I'd like to think you guys have some more reach than little old us.
While you're at it, tell Square Enix to fix the multiplayer in FF:CC Remaster. I am still sad over that.
Re: Yep, Metroid Prime 4's Box Art For Switch 2 Is... Corrupted
Make it a Box Art Brawl and send the results to Nintendo. Let them know what a dumb decision this is.

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Confirmed For Nintendo Switch 2
So that is episode 3 out of 4 of the current saga? I like that. Better than entirely new stories every time.
@Lizuka Guess different strokes for different folks, huh?
Re: The Switch 2's Screen Isn't OLED, But It Will Support 1080p/120fps Gameplay
Thumbsticks look bigger. That is more important to me. The Switch 1 joycons are horrible. Thumbsticks are far too small.
Re: Elden Ring Coming To Switch 2
Haven't played it yet but heard good things. This might be my ticket. I do have a PS4, but have never used it... so...
Which reminds me, my kids got a CD stuck in it. Maybe I should fix that for them.

@Flashlink99 Yeah, unlucky acronym, and... well... if I think about it... the whole Super thing is decidedly 90s... doesn't really fit any more...
But Switch 2 doesn't really roll of the tongue...
I think it a lose-lose situation. Switch U would just compel people to say "Bless you" every time someone mentions it.

Re: Ex-Nintendo Duo Unsure Mario Kart 9 Will Be An Instant "Slam Dunk" For Switch 2
Not only will it sell well, it will sell well instantly. All of those fans who have kept playing MK8 did so because they love it so much.
In that sense, MK9 will almost be a sort of DLC for them that they cannot wait to get their hands on.
So I think they're wrong here.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Nobunaga's Ambition (SNES)
Being European, the US box would be found among many other very exotic looking games in the local import shop, for which I have very fond memories.
Not sure if THIS box was among them, but it gives me warm fuzzy feelings.
So, sure... the JP one has more going for it, but those dark, foreboding black boxes of the US variety just do it for me!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd March)
@wollywoo it picks up after about an hour and a half, I guess, and Suikoden II is MILES better if you finish I first, as there are quite a few returning characters.
